A film based on a real and touching story is the reason why it cannot be given a bad rating. However, this is where its advantages end. I got to the film precisely because I Googled info about Bethany Hamilton herself, with whom this happened. I admire her. She's 10. And the film is simply boring, undynamic, there is absolutely no intrigue in it. The theme with the opponent is very played. The scene with the shark attack was made extremely uninteresting, for a second flashed the rubber head of the shark, grabbed his hand and was such. No panic, no plausible portrayal of pain, no battle for life – and I was preparing, I thought they would show me that I too would be hurt. Nope. Absolutely all actors play with a modest minimum - there is no scene that could impress the game, the transmission of real emotions. Even the camera doesn't really focus on the faces, it just shows how it was. Even the topic of surfing is not revealed with the proper feeling, it was done better even in the stupid cartoon “Catch the Wave”. So once again, the real Bethany deserves all the admiration and laurels (she has them), but the film is boring, unemotional and the plot in it is minimal.
Although you can praise the special effect. The green sleeve on Anna Sophia did its job.
A separate word about translation - maybe now normal and exists, and I was looking at the freshman with a translation in which a worried guy, reading one for all, instead of "normal reaction" says "normal erection." Strangle.
