The famous poet and playwright was born in Marseille. He became famous for his play Cyrano de Bergerac, first staged in Paris in 1897 with Constant Coquelin in the title role. Rostán wrote a large number of plays, the most popular of which, going in theaters to this day, are “Cyrano”, “Princess Gresa”, “Romantics” and the play “L’apos;Aiglon” (1900), written specially for the famous actress Sarah Bernard.
