His father was a playwright and his mother a musician. When the future actor was only 5 years old, his parents broke up.
Despite the creative professions of his parents, Valentin Nikulin entered Moscow State University at the Faculty of Law. And only after graduating from this higher institution he began to study at the studio school at the Moscow Art Theater. Beginning in 1960, he became an actor in a theater called Contemporary. In this theater, he received many roles of rather characteristic heroes, played in plays based on the works of both classical and modern authors. Oleg Efremov, the founder of the theater where Valentin Nikulin worked, considered him one of the best actors. In 1991 the actor moved to Israel, where he lived for 7 years. There he was invited to play the theater "Gabima".
His first role was in the film Leap Year. This was followed by Nine Days of the Big City, where he played a young physicist, The Way to the Pier, where he got the role of Marat Chapin. Throughout his life, he played more than a dozen roles and became known to people of different generations. Both adults and children admire him. Among his works,

The last few months of his life were very difficult. The actor had osteoporosis, a serious condition that affects bone tissue and makes it fragile. A month before the tragic end, his condition deteriorated so much that he could not even get out of bed. Valentin Nikulin died on August 6, 2005 at the 73rd year of life from a long illness. The famous actor was buried in the Donskoy cemetery.
