American director Robert Mulligan was born in New York on August 23, 1925. Since childhood, the boy was talented and had a passion for cinema. But his career did not begin with creativity. Robert had to be an errand boy in one of the TV companies. But very quickly from a simple courier he became a recognized master of cinema. American director Robert Mulligan was born in New York on August 23, 1925. Since childhood, the boy was talented and had a passion for cinema. But his career did not begin with creativity. Robert had to be an errand boy in one of the TV companies. But very quickly from a simple courier he became a recognized master of cinema.
Already in the forties, Mulligan himself made several television films, which quickly became very popular with viewers. His feature-length debut was the film Fear Comes Out (1957), and his film To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) received an Oscar for Best Director. This beautiful adaptation of the novel by Lee Harper still looks relevant today.
In the following years, the director made many successful films, including children. He had a special gift to work with young actors on the set. Mulligan's films have always been loved by audiences, although critics have been skeptical. Nevertheless, the director’s works were nominated for prestigious awards and sometimes received them.
His work is particularly known as
"Summer of the 42nd" (1971), Others (1972), Clara's Heart (1987), Man on the Moon (1991).
Robert Mulligan was married twice. He has three children and two grandchildren. He died on December 20, 2008.
