The actor successfully embodies images in historical and costume films, equally convincing in the roles of our contemporaries. Among his notable roles are Evgeny Listnitsky in the film adaptation of “The Quiet Don”, staged by Sergey Gerasimov, and Lyatevsky in “Virgin Raised”. The actor also starred in such directors as Viktor Tregubovich, Ernest Yasan. A special place in Dmitriev’s work is occupied by the roles he played in the films directed by Jan Fried – “Dog in the Manger”, “Silva”, “Don Cesar de Bazan”. Among the most interesting works of Igor Dmitriev should be mentioned Rosencrantz from the legendary "Hamlet", shot by Grigory Kozintsev; Colonel Geraldine from the multi-part television film directed by Yevgeny Tatarsky "The Adventures of Prince Florizel" ("Suicide Club"), in which the restrained manner of acting Dmitriev perfectly shades the magnificent images of Prince Florizel and Chairman created by Oleg Dahl and Donatas Banionis. In recent years, the actor has been filmed in criminal and detective films, he leads programs on television. One of the last works of Dmitriev is in the film by Gennady Poloka "The Return of the Battleship", staged by Gennady Poloka based on the play by Alexei Kapler.
