Born in Chicago, he was a high school jumping champion. He graduated from Missouri State College with degrees in psychology (bachelor’s degree) and biology. A personal student of Ed Parker, he possesses a black belt of American kenpo karate (6th dan) and a black belt of Japanese goze-ryu (also 6th dan). Founder of the International Federation of American Kenpo Karate, which unites more than fifty schools of this direction. In 1993, he was inducted into the Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame as the best instructor of the year.
