Salvador Dali (Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali Domenech) is one of the most famous representatives of surrealism, as well as a writer, sculptor, graphic artist, painter and director of Spanish origin.
Salvador was born in the small town of Figueres in the province of Gerona on May 11, 1904. The boy’s eccentric character and irrepressible energy could be noted from childhood. His talent for painting appeared very early, at the age of four he began to paint. The first full-fledged picture of Dali turned out at the age of ten, it was a small landscape painted with oil paints on the board. The boy spent all the time drawing, even took painting lessons from an experienced professor in Figaras.
At the age of 15, the young man was expelled for indecent behavior from a monastic school, but he still managed to get a secondary education by passing all exams. After that, he studied at the Art Academy in Madrid.
At the age of 16, Salvador Dali learned to put his thoughts on paper, and in 1919 his first essays were published in the Studio. In 1925, the first exhibition of paintings of a genius was held, and a year later he created the first surrealist works: “Bright Joys” and “Honey is sweeter than blood.”
In 1929, Dali wrote the script for the film “The Andalusian Dog”, and later for the film “The Golden Age”.
In 1951, the author developed a theory of atomic art, which was immediately published in the Mystic Manifesto.
In 1963, a work in the genre of non-fiction and journalism called “Diary of a Genius”, later two more works appeared: “50 Magical Secrets of Mastery” and “Saint Sebastian”.
In 1973, the Dali Museum was opened, which is a retrospective of the artist. El Salvador died in January 1989 of a heart attack. During the week, thousands of people came to say goodbye to his embalmed body.
