Patrice Lecomte was born on November 12, 1947 in Paris, France. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming a filmmaker, so it is not surprising that he entered the famous Higher School of Film Education (I.D.H.E.C.), from which he graduated in 1969. However, until 1975, Patrice Lecomte worked as an artist for Pilot magazine, occasionally shooting comedy shorts. In 1975, he made his debut in the "big" cinema, but his first film was coldly received by the public and was unsuccessful. In 1978, the director staged an unassuming youth picture “Turned”, which immediately became popular and received the continuation of “Ski Tanners” (1979). After a number of successful comedies, the director decided to change his genre preferences and staged an action movie with a slight comedy bias - "Specialists" (1985). Thanks to the warm reception from the audience, Lecomte again turns to a new genre for himself - in 1987 the "road film" "Tandem" was released. In 1989, the director filmed Georges Simenon’s novel “Place Ir”, in which he turned more and more deeply to the study of the underwater currents of human destinies and deeds. Then Lecomte puts a kind of tragicomedic trilogy about the eternal fight between men and women, the search for perfect love - "Husband of a hairdresser" (1991), "Tango" (1993), "Aroma Yvonne" (1994). However, these films did not gain such popularity as the 1996 costume-historical picture “Laughter”, which was also awarded with Cesar Awards for film and director and nominated for an Oscar. In 1998, the director shot "One Chance for Two" - an action movie with Alain Delon, Jean-Paul Belmondo and Vanessa Paradis. He also invited her to the lead role in the film “Girl on the Bridge” (1999), where her partner was Daniel Otoi. The interest of the audience and critics aroused the drama The Widow from the Isle of Saint-Pierre (2000). His latest films include Felix and Lola (2001), The Man from the Train (2002), and Pleasure Street (2002).
