George Denis Patrick Carlin is an American actor, comedian and writer, nominated for four Grammy Awards and a Mark Twain Award. Author of five books and more than 20 music albums, starred in 16 films.
Born on May 12, 1937 in Manhattan to a secretary and advertising manager for the New York Sun, both parents were Catholic. Five months after George's birth, his mother, along with him and his five-year-old brother, fled his father.

Born on May 12, 1937 in Manhattan to a secretary and advertising manager for the New York Sun, both parents were Catholic. Five months after George's birth, his mother, along with him and his five-year-old brother, fled his father.
At the age of seventeen, after dropping out of high school, George joined the Air Force, having trained as a radar mechanic. At the same time, Carlin tries his hand as a DJ at a local radio station.
Since the mid-60s, he was invited to perform in variety programs, he simultaneously continues to work as a DJ and soon becomes a very popular figure on television.
The performances of the comedian attracted a youth audience, which was the reason for his closeness to the cultural “underground”. With great success, he appears in television shows, including “Saturday Night Live”, and the role of mentor Rufus in the film and television series.

Carlin died on June 22, 2008 at St. John's Medical Center, California, where he was taken in the morning with complaints of severe chest pain.
