Richard Belzer, a comedy veteran, host of various shows and author of several books, was born in Bridgeport. From every school he tried to graduate, he was either kicked out or politely asked not to show up again because of his “uncontrollable sense of humor.” Eventually, he decided to use his talent for more peaceful purposes.
Richard Belzer began his career in show business with the title role in Groove Tube, which became a classic of cult films. Since then, Belzer’s comedic talent has been sought after in every other non-Broadway production, The National Lampoon Show, where he worked with John Belushi and Bill Murray, on radio on the morning show Brink and Belzer on WNBC, on the big screen in the films Author, Author, Glory, Night Shift and Scarface.
