Literally following in the footsteps of her parents, Teri at the age of 13 danced at the San Francisco Ballet Company and toured with a production of West Side Story. She remained a dancer on the big screen until she was finally allowed to speak in 1968.
In 1973, Teri began the second stage of her film career, playing for Francis Ford Coppola. She was then invited by Mel Brooks to the movie Young Frankenstein. Then she fell on the roles of young housewives and young mothers. From the “family” career she was saved by the acquaintance with Coppola, who offered her a leading role in the film “One from the Heart”. Unfortunately, the film failed at the box office. But it was from there that she was taken to the film “Tootsy”, for participation in which Teri was nominated for an Oscar.
