Daniel was born in the village of Dunray, which is located in the province of Manitoba in the English-speaking part of Canada, on March 17, 1949. His mother has always loved opera and classical music, and this love was instilled in his son from an early age. The family had six children, four of them relatives and two adopted. Daniel was the most capable of music, and from the age of four he studied piano. And at the age of 14, he entered a Jesuit college, where music was especially encouraged.
After graduating from college, the future composer studied medicine at university, but soon began to realize that his life should be connected with music. In 1967, he first appeared in public and won the contest “Jeunesse oblige”.
For a long time, Daniel played in various bands and sang in bars. The debut album was released in 1973-1974. Although it did not have much success, one of the tracks became popular in different countries of the world. Now the composer has 21 albums.

Daniel Lavoye is married to the excellent Louise Dubuque, who bore him three children. The family now lives in a suburb of Montreal. Daniel loves his garden and spends most of his time there. Since 2010, Daniel hosts a radio program, where he plays various music and reads poetry.
