Vincent Scotto is an outstanding French composer who composed music for more than 140 films, author of about 4000 songs and 60 operettas. Vincent was born on April 21, 1874, in Marseille, where he began writing songs as a child, barely mastering the chords on the guitar, and gained his first popularity as a singer. After moving to Paris in the late 19th century, he began writing songs for a number of popular singers of the time, and soon became one of the most famous songwriters. From 1910, he also began to write operettas, which was very successful. The period of the 1930s-1940s was also marked by fruitful work in cinema, composing music for films. Among his first works in this field is the 1929 comedy melodrama Under the Roofs of Paris, among the latest is the drama Strange Madame X, released in 1951.
