His mother found every opportunity to involve his son in theatrical activities. After school, Lev Barashkov studied at the Kaluga Pedagogical Institute, where, under the leadership of Zinovy Korogodsky, he studied in a drama circle. This determined his future profession. And after the appointment of Korogodsky as the main director of the Kaliningrad Regional Drama Theater, Lev Barashkov played on the professional stage for a little more than a year. In 1956, Barashkov entered the course of A. A. Goncharov in GITIS.
After graduating from the Academy, he began to work in the troupe of the Pushkin Moscow Drama Theater, under the leadership of Boris Ravensky. In one of the performances-concert Lev Barashkov sang the songs "And in our yard" Arkady Ostrovsky on the poems of Lev Oshanin and "Do Russian wars" Eduard Kolmanovsky on the poems of Yevgeny Yevtushenko. After the performance, a new star lit up on the domestic stage. Despite the fact that Barashkov never studied vocals professionally, his pleasant baritone with a soft timbre won the hearts of millions.
In the mid-1960s, Lev Barashkov left the theater and became a soloist of Igor Granov’s Blue Guitars ensemble. Then he worked in Moskconcert, and soon began to perform solo performances. The hallmark of the pop career was the song “The main thing, guys, do not get old with your heart”
