Oleg Petrovich Zhakov (01.04.1905 – 04.05.1988)
He was born in the Ural city of Sarapul. He received his education at the Polytechnic in Sverdlovsk and, later, at the Technical School in the direction of photography and cinema (1926-1927). Interested in the work of the actor and participating in the filming, Oleg Zhakov entered the Leningrad College of Performing Arts, which he graduated in 1929. At the same time, he was engaged in the film workshop FEX. At that time, he had already made his debut in the film “Overcoat”, based on the work of the same name by N.V. Gogol (1926).
After the successful performance of his role in “Overcoats”, Oleg Zhakov began to actively star. At first, he created images of young Soviet people full of heroism and courage in mastering new professions. Among them - polar explorer Pukhov from the "Ice Fate", pilot Tomilin from "Courage", radio operator Kurt from the
film "The Seven Bold" . A distinctive feature of the game of Oleg Zhakov is a special command of facial expressions and gestures. His characters are verbose, but a look, a slight smile or a movement of hands can tell a lot. Jakov skillfully created different characters, but he was noble and intelligent in all respects.
His active creative path lasted for sixty years. During this time, Oleg Petrovich Zhakov played more than a hundred roles. Among the best films, where he acted as an actor, “White Fang” (1946), “Running the Waves” (1966), “Resident’s Mistake” (1968), “Armed and Very Dangerous” (1977), “Front Behind the Front Line” (1978), etc.
For his successes in the field of cinema, Oleg Petrovich Zhakov was repeatedly awarded the State Prize of the USSR, and also received the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1969. /
