At the age of 13, Tim Powers submitted his first story to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, but was rejected. Later, he tried his luck several times, sending his new work to the same magazine, but the result was negative.
In 1970, the future writer entered the University of California, where he studied English literature. Tim Powers graduated in 1976, at the same time his novels “The Lower Heavens” and “Epitaph of Rust” were published, which he wrote under the influence of Sabbatini’s work.
The first success to the author came in 1979, when the book “Black on Black” was published. In 1980, the writer successfully married Serena Batsford, the couple lives together to this day.
In 1983, the novel “The Gates of Anubis” was published, for which Tim was awarded the first literary prize. A few years later, he received an Apollo Award for the same work. He then worked on a variety of books, exploring pirate themes, as seen in the novel On Strange Waves. Then there was a work with the features of the post-apocalyptic future “The Power of Her Respect”.
