She was born on May 18, 1929 in Moscow in an intelligent family. Father after graduating from the Institute of Oriental Studies entered the service in the library of the General Staff, where he headed the eastern department.
In 1934 he was arrested and soon died of typhus.
Katya Derevshchikova first appeared on the movie screen when she was ten years old. She played one of the main roles in a children's film, and then in the film Timur and his team played Zhenya.
At the age of fifteen, without exams, she became a student of the second year of VGIK at once (the course of S.A. Gerasimov and T.F. Makarova).
And at the age of 16 – the role of Catherine in the fairy tale “Stone Flower”. She brilliantly played her role, after which she was simply inundated with proposals from various directors. In the same year, she starred in the comedy “Attack Center”.
After graduating from VGIK, she married and settled with her husband in Kiev. There she got a job at the Lesia Ukrainka Theater. In the movie once again starred in 1961, playing a role in the film “10,000 boys”, and then disappeared from cinema forever.
Returning to Moscow in the early 60s, she tried to get a job in the Pushkin Theatre, but there she was waiting for failure. For the actress came difficult times. To somehow live had to play, where you have to - in prisons, libraries, nursing homes, clinics for the insane, in a boarding school for the blind, receiving 15-20 rubles per concert. However, the actress was lucky - Sergey Obraztsov invited her to work in his puppet theater, in which she worked for many years.
She passed away on October 19, 2006.
