Judas Priest, a British heavy metal band, was formed in 1971 in Birmingham by guitarist Kenneth Duning and bassist Ian Hill. Traditional is the composition, which includes vocalist Rob Halford and guitarist Glenn Tipton.
In 1974, the band signed a contract with the label Gull, which released the album Rocka Rolla. Judas Priest attracts the attention of the music community during a performance at the Reading Festival in 1975. Morgan Studios publishes their second studio work. "Unleashed in the East" includes material collected during a tour of cities in Japan in 1979. The song is called “Diamonds and Rust”. The following year, the album “British Steel” was released, several singles from which hit the British charts.
In 1992, Halford left the band, and for the next few years the team was in search of a vocalist, without performing. At the end of 1996, the team was accepted as temporary soloist Tim Owens, with the arrival of which the band's music becomes "heavier". This lineup recorded the albums Jugulator in 1997 and Demolition in 2001. Two years later, Halford returned in 2003, and Tim Owens joined Iced Earth. Next year, Judas Priest headlined Ozzfest. In 2008, the concept album Nostradamus was released.
Heavy metal has always been the main style of the band, although Judas Priest has always progressed and has not shy away from experimentation. Rob Halford's vocals were influenced by Uriah Heep frontman David Byron and Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant (founder Jimmy Page). Together with such groups as
"Nazareth" "Judas Priest" entered the history of modern music. The number of albums sold worldwide exceeds 35 million. The work of the team had a serious impact on the development of the metal genre, in general, and served as the basis for the birth of such genres as speed metal, thrash metal and power metal.
