At that time, the musician does not think about the beginning of a solo singing career, but friends jokingly suggest that he use his own voice when recording tracks, which as a result becomes a pretty good test of strength: Shaggy has a wonderful hoarse voice. And in 1993, the debut composition appeared, a cover version of the famous hit “Oh Carolina”, which became quite widespread in music clubs not only in New York, but also in European cities. Later comes the debut LP "Pure Pleasure".
In 1995, the musician released a new composition “Boombastic”, which became a kind of hallmark of the singer for many years. Soon, Levi's buys the rights to use the song for its advertising purposes. And Shaggy's name becomes known all over the world. The musician begins to invite for various performances, and Shaggy himself goes on his first big tour. In 1997, the album “Midnite Lover & Rare Trax” was released, which attracts even more attention to musician Shaggy with his lyrical and beautiful compositions.
