Born (10) August 22, 1879 in Moscow, in the family of a former serf.
After completing the course in the gymnasium he studied at the Moscow Higher Technical School.
Since 1898 he worked in various theaters of Moscow and the periphery.
In 1920, he volunteered for the Red Army and served two years as flag secretary of the commander of the fleet, combining military service with the activities of a director of a drama theater, where he worked for the appointment of the Department of Public Education

He made his film debut in 1913.

People's Artist of the Mordovian ASSR.
He died on January 21, 1956 in Moscow. The actor was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery, site No. 2.
