The failure of the “Incredible Hulk” in Marvel was not planned, because he confused all the cards to the creators of this cinematic universe, and the failure had to compensate for the second “Iron Man”, designed to glue the broken road to “Thor” and “First Avenger”.
It does not start with the Afghan caves, they no longer threaten Stark, and life insures the iron suit and the iron image of the free savior of the world. The mood is set more cheerful, and is not particularly overshadowed by the need to find a replacement for palladium that poisons the body. Even Tony prefers to die with music, thanks to friends in time reminded that death could not kill him once, and fighting it, he created his most important invention. The spectacular appearance of the antagonist is the most vivid and memorable scene of the film. Then the action slows down, and in the plot there are super cool super-secret people in black, pulling down undecided seriousness. Well, in the final, another night battle, where the increased budget went into quantity, bypassing the quality and at least some style.
In general, John Favreau could not avoid the "curse of the sequel." A good start spoiled the ending, where it’s time to make hints at the famous super-secret boy (and a little girl) band. And from this moment, will have to say goodbye to the beloved realistic savior of the Earth, and is preparing to meet the comic wrestler with cosmic evil spirits.
The second part of Iron Man tries to use absolutely the same techniques that the first one used at the time, but does it much less subtlely. If earlier rudeness and irresponsibility Tony, rather complement the image, now they come to the fore. The jokes themselves have hardly changed.
The only thing that turned out much better in the second part than in the first one is the antagonist. Mickey Rourke looks perfect in the image of a supervillain, although his supposedly Russian origin, a little spoiled the image. But the filmmakers still managed to keep the number of cranberries at an acceptable level.
Attempts to shift bridges to the Avengers, not yet removed at that time, turned out to be too clumsy. Especially the introduction of unnecessary for the plot of the film "Black Widow". I understand that the audience just wanted to introduce the character, but we were shown only how cool she fights, not the slightest hint of the character of the hero.
Everything is delivered professionally and spectacularly, this is what Marvel always follows. But at the same time does not leave the feeling of full tracing with such a successful first part.

My introduction to the Iron Man movies started with the second part. I missed the first one, but the second one went to the movies. To be honest, I had a long time to slap on such a step, because I do not like to watch sequels without first getting acquainted with the prequel. There is an explanation for this – the second part cannot but refer to the first one a priori, and I want to be aware of everything that is happening and happening, to have the full picture before my eyes.
I was waiting for an amazing surprise – there were almost no moments that required clarification and, accordingly, the violation of silence in the cinema. Many thanks for this writers, as well as for the cheerful plot, dynamic, interesting.
While watching the film, I noticed one feature, when I got acquainted with the first part, it became clear to me that I should thank John Favreau for this approach - he is amazingly able to combine humor and drama, show serious situations with a slight touch of irony. It seems to me that only this style can be in a film about the joker Tony Stark.
The acting remained at the same high level, and new characters were added. I was very happy to see Mickey Rourke, I haven’t seen him on the screen for a long time. He's a terrific actor, no less charismatic than Robert Downey Jr., his character I sometimes liked even more than Iron Man. But his type, let’s be honest, is not very Russian, besides, some stereotypes about our nation made us smile sadly. There is nothing to say about the name, where do they get them from? A shabby hut and a bottle of vodka on the table, from which you must definitely take a sip when circumstances change or just to maintain your mood. And Sam Rockwell reliably portrayed a bad boy-idle, who infuriates everything.
As for special effects, there are again a lot of them, but if there were no complaints about the first film in this regard, then here, namely during the fight in Monaco, I noticed a few too obvious blunders. What is it, an oversight in a hurry, or had to save for the payment of the fee of Downey Jr.? But I am willing to forgive you.
Are you saying a sequel is never better than a prequel? Well, rules exist to be broken.

“Iron Man 2” is the second part. If in the first we were told about the origin of the main character, then here we are talking about his collision with a very dangerous villain and joining the Avengers team.
First of all, I want to say a few words about Tony Stark performed by Robert Downey Jr. I would agree that he became an actor in one role, and now his name is closely associated with Iron Man. On the one hand, it’s bad, on the other hand – it’s impossible to imagine another person playing the role of Tony Stark – so much Downey Jr. fits this role.
Mickey Rourke performed by Ivan Vanko is also very good. Of course, it was not without stereotypes about Russians, but in the film there are not so many of them, besides the villain from Rourke turned out to be very charismatic.
It is also worth noting two new heroes - Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson and, of course, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Both were extremely colorful and memorable.
The plot as a whole does not go beyond the usual - recently the scripts of all films from Marvel are similar to each other. At the same time, all the scenes of the battles are simply magnificently staged - spectacular and beautiful, but not tiresome (some of the sins of some Michael Bay films).
Overall, Iron Man 2 was more interesting than the first one. I really enjoyed watching it.
Once again, it will ride on the superhero attraction and will not slide to preconceived opinion.
The second part of the Iron Man story. Other events, other problems. Unlike the first part, where, despite the superhero character, the individuality of the characters is felt, the second part seems more mature. The zest was not lost, it became smoother and not bulging. The most correct word about the plot of the sequel - it is emasculated. They took everything away. The special effects have become more spectacular, the villain is more colorful.
There is one “but”: everyone who watches will notice it. The main villain of the film is Russian. You'll find out from the second minute, so spoiler doesn't count. Get off the admins? And since he’s Russian, such a stereotypical Hollywood Russian, you’re starting to look a little skeptical. Vodka, strange speculations about God, wonderful habits - all in place. No, I like the villain, he's colorful. Stereotyped, but holistic. Even his tribal motives for Stark's blood feud are clear. But again, it is unpleasant that Russians are shown this way.
Stark, in general, is the same as in the first part. His character changes, he is more imbued with altruistic philosophy. Narcissism and pride were and still are. The drama of his trauma from Afghanistan takes on a new element of despair. Overall, Stark became more enjoyable. The storytelling style hasn't changed. A more experienced approach to the organization of action is felt: the story expands, the concept of the costume is played out from different sides. It’s more interesting than the first part. Largely due to the lack of a boring introduction to the universe of marvel, as in the first part.
Sound and graphics are useless. In action films, this is given the maximum possible attention. The humor has become more neutral. The funny scenes have become more natural. The film has its own style, and unlike the first part, it does not feel the alienity of some moments. Everything is logical, the story of Tony and Pepper continues, which is impossible to look at without tenderness. Moments when they can not be seen together without emotion.
Action films are like roller coasters: their task is to entertain, offering to experience a set of visual and emotional impressions, and in this regard, the second part takes a step forward.

That's my assessment of the sequel to the story of an altruistic narcissist with flaming pepper in a super-tech suit.
I have already proved to the world what is good for me is good for everyone.
“I’m just not a hero, that’s clear. With my list of flaws and mistakes, mostly in public. I'll be honest. I am the Iron Man.
Succumbing to vanity, Tony Stark reveals the truth to the world that he is a billionaire inventor and is the superhero “Iron Man” and thereby, according to all the predictable laws of the genre, launches a chain of favorable and not very for himself events.
For the first time I saw a sequel that is not better or worse than the original, but at exactly the same level as the first film, with absolutely the same defects. All the same naive scenario with a bunch of simplifications, with a significant share of mediocrity, places with a lack of logic and parts of an expressively lame action. All the text, to the detriment of dynamics, is full of all sorts of secular events and other similar events. The attempt to diversify the picture with a touch of drama can be safely recognized as failed. In general, the script “Iron Man” did not leave its “metal shell”, again leaving us at the bottom of the script trough.
And another, this time valuable, detail remained unchanged - again Robert Downey Jr., acting as the strongest iron frame, holds the only attractiveness of the picture. Of course, there is a slight exaggeration in my words. Downey in the creation of the “magnificent halo” of the film, of course, helped – the muse of Tony Stark, a girl with a beautiful smile and just a highly professional “housekeeper”. Gwyneth Paltrow and other representatives of the next successful casting of Marvel Studios, which I will consider in particulars and specifically in personalities.
The replacement of Terrence Howard for Don Cheadle is only positive. This transformation only confirmed Howard’s inconsistency in the role of “Warrior”, justified his disagreement with the studio and allowed him to invite a more suitable actor. Despite the already established template of the image of “Rowdy”, Cheadle managed to somehow refresh and expand his character, to give him greater importance even taking into account the fact that Don wrote off some part of the image embodied by Howard. Cheadle came out more organic in the role of absolutely correct, strictly disciplined, never violating principles, the best friend of the protagonist, panicking about all the twists of spoiled Tony Stark.
Being faithful to the creation of a unique “cinematic universe”, the bosses of Marvel Studios will debut another famous superhero, or rather, the superheroine of the comic world “Marvel”, the Russian KGB spy Natalia Romanov, familiar to all comic fans under the nickname “Black Widow”. Scarlett Johansson thanks to natural charm, but primarily due to a passionate desire to perform this role and dyeing her hair red before approval, left no choice to the management of the “miracle” except to submit it to the shooting. Of course, for such flattering praises, I missed the real reason for Johansson’s approval for the role of “Black Widow”, namely the departure from the project of no less wonderful and talented actress Emily Blunt. But Scarlett’s excessive zeal and the re-choice of Marvel Studios did not go without success. No matter how much I did not sympathize with Blunt, no matter how much I did not want to see her in the image of a Russian beauty, Scarlett perfectly coped with her acting task and I think, satisfied even the most loyal fans of Natasha Romanoff, so her name sounds in the “extraordinary” Russian localization. But even on Black Widow, the list of new heroes directly or indirectly touching the peak point of all the efforts of Marvel Studios called The Avengers does not end.
Marvel introduces heavy artillery (from the end of the credits of the first part) in the person of Nick Fury, who in the film serves as the initiator of the “general gathering” of superheroes. It so happened that I never saw Samuel L. Jackson in the title role, but only as a secondary character and it is worth saying every part of it, even the side effects on the film only had a fruitful impact, making it especially different from the others.
Also, in comparison with the first film, we can more often observe in the frame a person who, in theory, should be on the side of the screen, a person who is a true designer of two versions of the “metal hero” – direct director of the film John Favreau, playing simultaneously a bodyguard, a chauffeur and a friend of Tony Stark. The appearance of Favreau in the frame always foreshadows some comic situations that really look quite funny and warm up the general atmosphere, sometimes changing the genre of a fantastic action movie into a genuine comedy. I’m done with the heroes of goodness and justice, it’s time to focus on the more corrupt guys.
This time, Iron Man is confronted by a villainous alliance consisting of a bad Russian recidivist intellectual and a big showman industrialist competing with Tony Stark's company. Russian Vanku or called comics "Whiplash" was played by old Mickey Rourke, who returned to the big screens after almost a decade of absence, amazed everyone with "Wrestler" and became popular again. Ivan Vanko, performed by Rourke, turned out to be a very ambiguous, but at the same time quite a funny character for the Russian audience, and for the rest of the planet served as another reason for panic fear inherent in Russians by nature excessive aggression, according to the superstitious notions of the American elite. The image recreated by Mickey Rourke, coupled with the Russian voiceover, I generally liked and did not even irritate the improvisation of the allegedly Russian, but quite the contrary, in some moments quite amused. With regard to Sam Rockwell, one thing can be said only - he was in the usual two-faced image of a funny joker and a rogue villain. Together with the improvised Ivan, Justin Hammer did not let me miss a single minute - very hilarious guys.
You’ve probably noticed a significant number of characters, which in turn form a significant number of storylines – this is another weakness of the script. The director and screenwriter could not withstand such an influx of characters and were forced to only superficially indicate them in the narrative, the benefit of each was given enough screen time.
The second version of Iron Man, like the first, shines with wondrous special effects, demonstrations of chic gold-titanium suits and other charms of computer wrappers. Again, this luxurious limitless potential has not been harnessed to its full potential, as Tony Stark would say, “It doesn’t fly, it just runs.” The second "Iron Man" as well as the first suffers from action disease - he is incredibly lethargic, inexpressive and incredibly small. All scenes implying bright battle scenes, an abundant flow of special effects and a pile of twisted metal for incomprehensible reasons are performed as disgustingly and without ideas, with a complete lack of creativity and creative thought.
But despite all the imperfections I mentioned, Iron Man 2, like the first film, fully copes with the main mission of its publishing company, the mission of entertaining the viewer, providing him with excellent material for a pleasant pastime. In other words, I definitely do not advise to refuse to get acquainted with the continuation of the superhero path of Tony Stark.
“Personal review: Mr. Stark has compulsive behavior, self-destructive personality, typical narcissism, and yet recruiting Iron Man for The Avengers is appropriate.”
After the first film "Iron Man", of course, a lot of viewers were waiting for a sequel, and two years later in 2010, "Iron Man 2" is released. In this film, there is a reboot, we see that the budget of the picture is unrealistically huge - 200 million dollars, adding new actors and another story about the favorite from the comics Iron Man.
A year and a half passes in the plot, and we see how the hero billionaire - Iron Man tries to live with general fame. The whole country knows who he is and the power of his invention. Many want him to hand over the Iron Man suit to the government, but the billionaire refuses to do so. While disagreements continue, another new, large-scale threat appears in the face of the son of a Russian scientist who also invented his suit of new technologies.
The movie looks with interest, because the special effects and visual effects of this fantastic film are simply gorgeous. There are many action scenes and battles between the two giants. This film will be ideal for those who like big-budget adaptations of comic book characters and just fantastic movies.
Robert Downey Jr. gave the Iron Man his charm. His hero is an interesting person. There is a lot of humor in the story, which is also not very important. Mickey Rourke is a well-known, respected actor, but the role of the Russian in his performance looked very fake. The negative character turned out to be the right thing to do, but there was no Russian person in front of us, so this moment looked ridiculous and implausible. There was nothing in Mickey Rurge that would make us think he was a Russian. The female role is again performed by Gwyneth Paltrow. In the sequel, new actors appear charismatic Don Cheadle, talented Sam Rockwell and beauty Scarlett Johansson. We also have the star of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Clark Gregg. In a small role it was nice to see Samuel L. Jackson.
Iron Man 2 is an American, fantasy, action-adventure film of 2010. The movie will appeal to all the boys. This film is family, so it can be appreciated by the viewer of any audience.
This time, dear readers, the main opponents of Iron Man is Ivan Vanko, a native of Russia (the Americans with Russian and Little Russian surnames are weak, what can you do here) and the head of the rival Stark firm Justin Hammer. The first lived in gray-presh semi-criminal Moscow. Anton Vanko, Ivan's father, dies there. Before he dies, he informs his son that Tony Stark’s father is to blame for his death. Ivan decides to take revenge, makes himself a superhero, creating a suit with a miniature nuclear reactor behind him, from whose hands light whips appear. When Justin Theroux was writing the script, he must have seen the movie Lords of the Universe (1987), where Skeletor was bludgeoning He-Man with exactly the same whip.
Meanwhile, politicians and the military are pressuring Stark to share the secrets of Iron Man technology. Stark, on the other hand, wants to serve the public good on his own, not without boasting that thanks to him, “America lives in peace.”
Stark is shown somewhat differently here. Now this is a rather selfish and manneristic type, behaving defiantly at the Stark Expo, in court, at a birthday party. It seems clear that these scenes were supposed to be ironic, but Theroux clearly overestimated his sense of humor.
Robert Downey (Tony Stark) is still very good. It's not his fault the script turned out to be raw. After all, for the film, Downey received 10 million. And for the first part (in 2008) - only half a million.
Downey already plays here on a par with Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper), who, according to the script, became a director of Stark's firm. No complaints about Paltrow. Well done, well done.
Mickey Rourke playing Russian with an Anglo-Saxon face (of course) muffling vodka from his throat. With him astrophysicist and inventor, to put it mildly, did not work. This role did not suit Rourke at all. "Wrestler" was the role of Mickey.
Scarlett Johansson did not show herself here. Of course, the scene of the fight with the Hammer security is very spectacular. But that's all. I saw a pretty face in Johansson, that's all. It is also unclear why her character was introduced. Mentally remove it from the picture, and make sure that without it the film would not have lost anything.
Don Cheadle has unexpectedly replaced Terrence Howard. It was not immediately clear that Cheadle was playing a character from the first part. Theroux also failed here, besides he introduced a downright idiotic scene of his fight with the hero Downey.
Sam Rockwell (Justin Hammer) looks pale against Rourke and Downey. It seems like he is trying very hard.
Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) covered his eye with a bandage, just like Kutuzov. It's great, but his character is not revealed.
As in the first part, Iron Man 2 feels the lameness of the script. But if in the first "Iron Man" it was lame on one leg, then here - on both. Dialogues are very tortured, and sometimes completely absurd. What do you think of the phrase: “They fused him for twenty years in Siberia, which he spent in a vodka frenzy?” Also a lot of ambiguity ("Repulsory assignature", etc.), I wonder if the actors themselves even understand what they are talking about? And, of course, the endless “sirs”, which towards the end begin to seriously anger, because this appeal is sprinkled with all the proposals at the official and not very level.
I read the review and realized that there was a lot of negativity. In fact, Iron Man 2 was a head short of the first part. But I wouldn’t say that the movie didn’t work out at all. Downey and Paltrow haven't gone anywhere. And the special effects here are very, very. In 2011, the film was even nominated for an Oscar.
Robert Downey Jr. once again dressed as a superhero. After putting a violin, a tube and an intellect (Holmes) in the drawer, he borrowed the robe from Robocop. But now he has not a small flashlight burning in his chest, as in the first part, but a full-fledged lantern that can increase the strength of its owner ... times.
From a remote hinterland (Russia), a basement opposite a food store, none other than Mickey Rourke creeps out to avenge his offended father. (He was recently resuscitated, but unthinkably resurrected and given a second chance in film.) For greater fidelity, taking a whip with him in order to slap careless iron, he comes to France and begins this very whip waving wherever and wherever. This whip is not easy and if it already hits, it leaves behind charred pieces of unwanted opponents.
Having rinsed Downey’s car, but not him (?), Mickey demonstrates the greatness of the Russian spirit and mind (?), but fails. Iron Man himself copes with this situation with difficulty, and Scarlett Johanson, turned in latex, is urgently determined to help him. According to the admissions of the actress herself after the arthouse, she was pleasant and interesting to plunge into the atmosphere of shooting, chase and dizzying scenes. So Scarlett, wearing a mask of an accountant, encrypted, and at night dresses, borrowed from Catwoman, outfit and saves the planet.
Now, having joined forces, the sweet couple will not be difficult to fight on an equal footing with the already army of iron men ruled by Ivan Vanko (Hollywood has not departed from idiotic Russian names since the days of the Red Heat, Ivan Danko was there).
Everything explodes, burns, collapses; the army of robots and their guru (Rourke) self-destructs, and our iron safely ends up on the roof of the house with his beloved Paltrow, not Johansson.
And the world is cleansed of evil again.
There’s nothing to make sense of in this movie because it wasn’t there. Just watch and enjoy:
1. New superstar Robert Downey Junior.
2. Johansson shapes
3. The soaked face of Rourke
4. Special effects
5. By Samuel L. Jackson passing by.
One moment could not escape my sight, and I could not help noticing it. When a fugitive from Rourke prison is stopped by a guard, the scene with the reception resembles a self-defense course. Where the instructor approaches the inexperienced housewife, puts her hand on her shoulder and she makes a spent throw. It should be a shame for the director, despite the fact that the scenes with Johansson were almost perfect. Probably out of 200 million for this trick money was not found.

After the Favreau party in Iron Man, everyone expected him to perform a miracle for the second time, in the second Iron Man. But here's the first weirdness of the movie sequel. The script of the second was written by comedy screenwriter and actor Justin Theroux. Everyone immediately wondered, “Why not hire Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby to write the sequel?” Oh, come on.
Iron Man 2 starts with the script. What was good for the first film, is that for all the abundance of humor - it did not turn into a clown and every joke was in its place, but in the sequel with humor overdo it. There is a lot of it and it is not always in place, and sometimes it is completely inflected. Sometimes the film forgets that it has a villain and focuses a lot of time on Stark and his endless jokes. But in any case, the original mostly wins in contrasts. It seems that in the sequel there are jokes, and charismatic characters, and fascinating storytelling, but still when we saw the most beautiful first part, then from the sequel we demand at least the same quality, but alas and ah. It also stupores a caricature villain who is absolutely not able to interest, but because his background is very boring.
Robert Downey Jr. is still very good. Gwyneth Paltrow's role hasn't changed much, and yes, she still needs to be saved. Mickey Rourke did not like it, because of the weak study of the character. Don Cheadle didn't show anything special, but no problem, Terrence Howard didn't shine either. Sam Rockwell is pretty good, but his character is a pity. Well, the appearance of Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson is delightful.
But the action in the film is clearly not enough. It is beautiful, but it is not enough, and the final battle is disappointing. But the soundtrack from John Debney can only be praised.
“Iron Man 2” is a film with a script that lacks the hand of a professional, and so – it’s just a good blockbuster at once.
A magnificent continuation of the acclaimed first part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which absolutely exactly supports the success of his older brother, while being a completely independent and unique brainchild of one of the best directors of our time - John Favreau.
The United States government, represented by Senator Stern (Harry Shandling), is trying to brazenly take the costume of Iron Man from its creator and rightful owner - the brilliant engineer Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). This is eagerly awaited by the head of "Hummer Industries" - gunsmith Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), who is eager to get the secret of the suit. However, Tony keeps his brainchild intact and goes to rest in Monaco with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and new Stark Industries lawyer Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson). There he meets the ghost of the past, who in addition to this is also a Russian with a very sonorous name Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke). This meeting opened the eyes of the rich man that his costume is not as unique as he thought.
The brilliantly written script did not have a single empty scene, which allows you to savor the whole film with delight, without taking your eyes off the screen. When Favreau shot what is now legendary, it was hard to believe he could continue at the same level. However, I state with great pleasure, John coped brilliantly, and not only with the director, but also with his role. It may be secondary, but it has made it much brighter than it is in principle. This man deserves the highest praise. But back to the movie. The second part is kept almost at the level of the first, yielding only slightly, but this is the cost of such a cliché as “continuation”, therefore, is not an outright disadvantage of the picture. Each dialogue is written and played immaculately, which is rare for entertaining films. From the very beginning and until the final credits, Iron Man 2 is saturated with killer humor, but this humor, as it would be better to say, is vital, that is, not far-fetched, not inserted into the dialogue in order to dilute it, but realistic. This is the kind of humor that comes naturally in dialogue when the moment comes. By the way, humor here plays a far from passable role. Humor and jokes is Tony Stark’s method of hiding his true feelings and experiences, hiding his personal tragedy, because if you look closely, you can see that his mouth is joking, and his eyes are full of pain. Here we should pay tribute to Robert Downey Jr., it was brilliantly executed.
To bring to life the chicly written script, Favreau took on the assistants of another famous director - Kenneth Branagh. Most likely, this was done only so that Brana got the experience of filming an action film, because he had to shoot the next part of the Marvel universe, which will introduce the viewer to another member of the Avengers team - Asgardian strongman Thor, bearing the same name, but about this in the next review. Why this conversation: Brana did not help, but rather watched how Maestro Favreau worked. It should be said that Kenneth is a very respected director, only he had previously shot films of a different plan.
“Iron Man 2” gives the viewer an incredibly cheerful attitude, charges with positive energy. In this part to the overall success, of course, the hand put Mickey Rourke, whose hero, honestly, the tongue does not turn to call a villain. Ivan Vanko is an outstanding Russian engineer, balanced, calm and at times gives out brilliant short phrases. You expect him to appear on the screen every time with anticipation. The antipode in films like this plays an extremely important role. He must be as monumental as the protagonist, otherwise interest in the confrontation will die before waking up. And Rourke, who played his game magnificently, coped with his task in the best possible way. This is definitely the success of people who worked on casting actors. If it is difficult to imagine another actor as a specific character - this is a harmonious combination - an impeccable result of the director on working with actors.
This painting is definitely collectible. It is one of those that you want to review more than once, but its “collectiveness” is not connected with this. It's just -- it's made beautifully. It's hard to find another word. Iron Man 2 is a very beautiful film, bright, colorful, cheerful, funny, dramatic, slightly tragic, and most importantly spectacular. In general, all the good that Favreau bestowed on the first part, he brought to the second, for which I personally express my gratitude to him. And although there is a lot of talk that the solo procession of the philanthropist ended after the third part, the hope that we will see him more than once warms in the chest. As you know, hope is the last to die.
P.S. "Hey man, don't dust" is just a brilliant phrase, perfectly performed by Mickey Rourke.
I continue to piece together a puzzle called the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The next stop on my way is the second movie about a billionaire in gold-titanium armor.
Tony Stark was never like any other superhero. He was not bitten by spiders, he was not irradiated by radiation, and he did not come from other planets. He has no superpowers, only the intellect to generate innovative ideas, and the finances to implement these ideas. One of Tony’s biggest differences from other superheroes was not his desire to hide his true identity. Various Batmans, Superman and other colleagues of Stark in the business of saving the world are simply obsessed with their privacy, and Tony took and personally trumpeted his little secret to the whole world. If he knew what it would lead to, he might have acted differently, but history does not tolerate subjunctive tendencies.
What do American billionaires and Soviet physicists have in common?
How to celebrate a birthday, so that you fight with a friend, and destroy half the house for one?
What was Tony’s relationship with his father and how does palladium affect the human body? The answers to these and other questions are in this film.
Speaking of actors, I have no complaints.
Downey and Peltrow had a task: not to lose the zest for which the viewer fell in love with their characters, and also to show the development of their relationship. They did a great job with this.
Mickey Rourke is an actor with an interesting destiny. In the 80-90s he successfully played the role of fateful handsome men and heartthrobs, but over time he got bored of this role and he practically left the profession. He was rarely cast and mostly in second roles. The second wind of his career gave the drama “Wrestler”, and convincingly and charismatically played Ivan Vanko returned Mickey to the number of the most recognizable and popular actors.
Scarlett Johansson successfully fit into the ensemble, playing Stark’s new assistant, Natalie Rushman, and believe me, this woman is not as simple as it seems at first glance.
Sam Rockwell is a great actor. His roles in The Green Mile and The Moon 2112 were great. This time he plays Justin Hammer, a gun magnate who dreams of stepping out of the shadows of Stark Industries, but all his attempts to invent something worthy always end in failure.
Samuel L. Jackson as the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. is simply inimitable. It is a pity that in the film it is so criminally small.
I don’t like it when there is a change of actors in franchises. But sometimes it happens alas. Instead of Terance Howard, the role of Rowdy was played by Don Cheadle and in my opinion this castling did not spoil the film.
The creators did not change themselves and filled the plot with an abundance of action, humor and non-banal plot moves. I especially liked the fact that the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization began to occupy much more space in the film, which in the first film only flashed slightly in the background. Thanks to all this, the second part is almost in no way inferior to the first.
After that, it would be quite logical to put ten compliments, but I did not have enough. Perhaps the elusive magic that distinguishes a great film from a masterpiece.

“I have already done you a great service in privatizing world peace.”
I loved the first movie and expected a lot from the second one. So...
So Tony Stark established world peace, loved by the American people, and even managed to defend in Congress his right not to share with the U.S. Army his weapons of great destructive power, also known as the Iron Man suit. One problem is that the generator in his chest works on palladium, which poisons his blood. Unfortunately, without a mini-reactor, Tony will not only not be able to be Iron Man, but will die very quickly because of the fragments stuck in his body, which only the reactor field slows down. Therefore, Tony, maintaining his image as a cheerful playboy, in the meantime prepares for his imminent death and gradually prepares his friends to replace him - mainly forcing them to do this deliberately irresponsible behavior. Meanwhile, in snowy Russia, Ivan Antonovich Vanko builds an exoskeleton based on Stark’s technology, which his father developed with Tony’s father, until he framed him and sent him back to the Soviet Union – to camps. With this exoskeleton, equipped with steep stun wickets, he attacks Iron Man - unsuccessfully, but spectacularly enough to dispel the belief that Stark has no opponents and is able to keep America safe personally. Rowdy takes a sample of the suit from Stark (in fact, he seems to be forcing him to do this, but nevertheless) and transfers it to the army, and she instead of Stark Industries concludes a contract with Justin Hammer.
The characters are beautiful - charismatic and well revealed. Iron Man is very consistent with the comic book prototype - with his playboyism, which either turned from a former habit into a convenient mask, or turned out to be a mask almost attached to his face, with his mania for controlling everything, caused by inflated self-esteem. Well done, Downey Jr.: coped with both a charming and untidy grin, and with a desperate look. I really liked Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer - it's quite obvious that he's a talentless and insecure heir to an industrial empire who is so desperate to look worthy of his status that he doesn't get the slightest respect. Scarlett Johansen - well, she's mostly very sexy here, you can't say that the role of Black Widow required much beyond that. Rowdy in the first part I somehow did not remember — here, of course, he has a bigger role, but I think Don Cheadle breathed new life into it, at least Rowdy has a real “army” look and not the appearance of a soldier. Ivan Vanko came out quite cool, it can be seen that he saw a lot, and therefore you can not take him on the pont, and for this image it is enough; Mickey Rourke is quite convincing.
In general, Iron Man, that the first, the second, is a comic book with the most human superhero. Everything here looks very casual and natural - Stark hanging out, arguing with Pepper (very nice), even creating a terribly ridiculous machine to produce a new chemical element. Russia, however, a little cuts the eye with its deliberate poverty and abandonment (as if the early nineties), but what to do, at least now on the store write “Products”, not strange non-existent letters. In general, there are plot holes in the format of “why did they not carry the Ring on the eagles at once”, but, as in this example, it is not conspicuous or annoying. Fortunately, perfectly staged fights and stylish special effects do not leave time to find fault with the details.
In general, Iron Man 2 is a very worthy sequel to a very successful film. I recommend it.
Iron Man was an interesting film with a good protagonist who invented a super-tech metal suit and, contrary to some properties of his own character, decided to use this miracle technology for good deeds. This film created an excellent platform for additional formations. It would be possible to develop the idea of a famous superhero, voluntarily revealed to journalists and the world. And it was possible to adequately beat the scientific side of the issue. Pay a little more attention to the process of working on the costume, for example. And Tony Stark's personality - so bright and rich in the first film - seemed to be able to hold attention without difficulty. But no.
It was thought that quite good traditions of the first "LG" will be continued, but with the atmosphere of fiction, the authors said goodbye, decent entertainment, from which you want to forget everything and head off into the world of cinema, there is even no smell. Iron Man 2 is a boring, monotonous, drawn-out and stupid movie. It resembles a cartoon from a multi-part series, which is played every Sunday morning, but not a large-scale blockbuster with a worldwide reputation. And it lasts not 15 minutes or even half an hour, but two hours. The film should be watched for two scenes. First, Tony Stark fights for the first time with Vanya Vanko from Russia; second, Tony Stark fights for the second time with Vanya Vanko from Russia. That's it. Although, no, there is another worthy moment in the film is the song of AC/DC band “Highway to Hell”.
Many not without reason say that Marvel saves their resources on the “Avengers”, and all films about single heroes are made simply because they need to be made. To pass the time between really loud and massive hits. Some joke that “there’s so much thrilling action in this movie that it wasn’t enough for a two-minute trailer.” And all these scenes with special effects are done well only technologically, but without any taste. The operator did not really want to choose more successful angles for filming, and the composer does not want to create even a decent background, not to mention the genuine energy of a fantastic action movie. The scenes with the action resemble either a cartoon or a video game.
If you think of Tony Stark as a superhero who is stranded because of his invention, which the military wants to pick up and put into operation, and which is detrimental to the health of his creator, then his drama is not revealed. His stupid behavior in this film is poorly justified and humor does not feel like an intended element. Stupidity and humor are different things. Iron Man in this film flaunts himself, fights boredom and illness with the help of alcohol, and is mostly just present on the screen. Because he's supposed to be there. Well, the vengeful motives of the main villain with the sullen harei Mickey Rourke are generally soulless and uninteresting. It seems that you need to have a special imagination to create on the screen such a useless bad guy, from whom there is neither threat nor charisma.

It was cold enough for a long time to relate to the history of Iron Man, but still Marvel films were drawn in.
It was interesting to see the entire trilogy. Everything is done perfectly, beautifully, Tony Stark’s costume design is on top. But it was about the second film that I decided to write a review. Write because there were unpleasant moments in it, perhaps too subjective, but still.
I leave neutral, because with its colorfulness, visual range, design and cast pleases both 2 and 3 parts. But I don't write positively because of that most unpleasant moment.
I didn’t like the way Russia was portrayed. And in general, the image of the country as the image of the progenitor of villains is already tired. The image of a country in which only winter, frowning and slouchy people drag themselves and their belongings along a snowy street against the background of an empty store and ancient cars. Ivan Vanko. God. We don't have other names? After all, the Russians work in Hollywood, is it impossible to work out a decent detail for the sake of the movie, which is released in the world distribution? It’s like thinking that all Chinese have names only Lee, and all Americans are John, Jackie, etc. Okay, Ivan. This Ivan lives in a gloomy apartment, where there is a TV of an unknown year of release, as well as cars on the street. Scattered dark walls, gloom and landfill. Ivan himself in tattoos, like those very bandits baptized by prison ... He also receives some kind of clandestine documents. Something doesn't show he's a wanted villain. Is it possible to leave Russia just like that?
Why do you have to create this image over and over again?
The following scenes are a beautiful coast, sunny edge, chic house and genius Stark. Well, it's clear, he's the main character, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
I do not want to say that the director and the whole team are obliged to study Russia, are not obliged to show beautiful night panoramas of Moscow (after all, she is in the frame), and that people here too have been living for a long time, not like the Soviet Union, but still. I'm really tired. It is strange that Ivan has a parrot and not a bear.
Of the pluses, Mickey Rourke is a respected actor, and with his new image villains for him.
The car, built by Ivan, or rather the modernized robot with whiplashes, I really liked it as an idea. Well, in general, the fact that Ivan is not only a bad relic of the Union, but also a genius.
Thank you, everyone.
If you give God a little blood, people will quickly stop believing in him.
And just this sequel let her a little... The plot in the second part turned out to be no worse than the first, only filled with more noticeable holes and errant clichés, for example, mined drones, which half an hour before the explosion begin to squeak and in every possible way “warn” the hero to get away. As in the first part, romance is not obsessive at all, opponents look convincing, there are a couple of surprising moments and generally looks easy and pleasant. Stark again invented a couple of new versions of the suit, but now the opponent is almost as inventive and has a suit in his style.
Robert Downey Jr. puts on his suit again and again he is the invincible Iron Man, who is corroded by the inside in the film. From Stark we will see his jokes, his sloppy behavior and muzzle in public. = By the way, Stark in the film slowly dies for another reason that has stuck in his chest, but he is aka Stark, he will get out. As always in the film, Stark is not indifferent to some kind of food, here he ate small donuts on a huge donut. Stark's suit, by the way, looks more powerful, armored and muscular than in the first part, in general, the changes have benefited.
In this film, among other things, we are introduced to Natasha Romanov, aka Black Widow in the role of Scarlett Johansson, approached the role very wonderfully, then still boasted to everyone probably, because she so wanted to get her.
Pepper is also in Africa Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow), she is also given a rather small screen time, but she plays well.
Mickey Rourke - he knows how to talk pretentiously and looks the same, although they defeated him in the end somehow unwarrantedly quickly. He in the role of the Russian Vanya Vanko (Fantasia) turned out to be good, coincides with all the stereotypes of the American audience, drinks vodka in a volley, says “a great man” and he is a superhacker and engineer to the same.
All the actors played their roles, some amazing, some good, but that would be bad, like no one.
John Favreau bows for his work.
The film as a whole turned out to be as good as the first part, but with some ridiculous flaws that are quite visible.

The past is tirelessly and inexorably capable of reminding a person of itself, especially if this person is clothed with the crown of power and wealth. Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, tycoon and playboy, fights the powerful who threaten to strip him of his suit. But, as always happens, problems do not come alone and someone Ivan Vanko intends to brutally revenge Tony for the long-standing sins of the past. It seems that our hero will have a very difficult year.
Hot on the heels of the huge box office success of the first “Iron Man”, which in fact became one of the surprises of the 2008 film season for both viewers and critics, not much favor blockbusters and comics, Marvel and Paramount two years later shoot on the screens with a sequel that has a huge two-hundred-million budget, worked out by the Honourable John Favreau for fame, because “Iron Man 2” the original tape is much surpassed not only in terms of visual, but also in drama.
At first glance, the all-powerful and rich Tony Stark looks like a fighter against the state machine and fights for life, for in his alter-ego Iron Man, in this pouring noble gold and dark scarlet suit is the very life of our hero, prone to self-irony, devaluing reflection. In the person of Ivan Vanko, Tony Stark will face the past of his family and a lot of new things will be revealed to him. Dramatic scenes and scenes full of unique, mesmerizing, impressive action are interspersed powerfully and deftly; in the hands of director John Favreau and cameraman Matthew Libatik, the film does not look excessively oversaturated, because each scene complements each other and captures the most interesting, albeit a little predictable plot, because it is impossible to escape from the laws of the genre, but this ordinariness does not look annoying and the film is perceived easily, without unnecesarily pressing the viewer with escapist entertainment, but also does not get carried away with a clear artistic balance.
Robert Downey Jr., perfectly coped with the role of Tony Stark, filling his hero with depth and ironic intonations, creating the image of one of the most charismatic superheroes of modern cinema. The real highlights of this visual cake, seasoned with spectacular action, were Mickey Rourke, who vividly played the role of Ivan Vanko, the most colorful of the villains in the universe of Iron Man, the antihero of brutal and numbing, and Scarlett Johansson, perfectly fit into the image of the sexy Black Widow. Also in the background of the film shines Don Cheadle, who replaced the scandalous Terrence Howard as Rowdy, John Slattery, Gwyneth Paltrow as the permanent Pepper Potts.
Dynamics and drive of the film masterfully gives both the original soundtrack of composer John Debney and hard rock tracks AC/DC, woven into the structure of the film organically and stylishly, turning the tape into a fascinating audiovisual creation.
So, “Iron Man 2” is an interesting, dynamic, eventful and spectacular sequel; excellent in all respects comic screening, one of the standards in its genre, giving both bright entertainment and a certain moral message. Not recommended!
Tony Stark became a national hero after claiming to be Iron Man. And let Stark, wearing his high-tech suit, can solve almost any problem, do not relax, because evil does not sleep, and this time he is represented by the son of a Russian scientist. His father, who once worked for the Stark Corporation, was fired, and the family lost everything. Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) will try to avenge his family's miserable fate.
It was a decent sequel, which, like the first part, was included in the list of my favorite films. Even more high-quality action, because the budget has become even larger, and as shown by the example of the first part, directors do not steal money from the budget. All the same resourcefulness and ingenuity of Tony Stark, and of course, knows no boundaries - humor. There are a lot of comic situations, which is very pleasant.
Oddly enough, the plot turned out to be very interesting again, although I thought that it would be quite the opposite, since the main story was shown in the first part, and it seemed to me that the directors had exhausted all the ingenious ideas for creating the film, but fortunately I was wrong. I also noticed the absence of minuses and any mistakes in the film, and Iron Man 2 looks in one breath, the directors tried their best, for which they are very grateful. After all, sad statistics tell us that very often the continuation of the film turns out to be much worse than the first part, but these statistics are not appropriate here, the 2nd part of Iron Man not only did not slow down, but in my opinion, on the contrary, added momentum. I hope that the third part will remain at least at the level of the previous ones.
In general, as well as in the review for the first part, I recommend this amazing movie to everyone, and I can guarantee that after watching it, you will not regret the time spent. The assessment remains the same.
The second part of the adventures of Tony Stark, billionaire, universal favorite, and of course Iron Man. The film was directed by John Favreau (who directed the first). The cast has hardly changed. Only the role of Tony’s main friend, Colonel James Rhodes, this time was performed by Don Cheadle. He played the role no worse than Terence Howard.
After the events of the first part, six months passed. Tony Stark is on a horse. He successfully copes with the role of a hero of America, but if the company’s affairs concern him, then very little. And Stark passes the furrows of power on the fragile shoulders of her eternal assistant Pepper Pots. Well, in Russia-mother, his formidable plan of revenge for the deceased father builds a new enemy of HC, nicknamed Whiplash. And then there's Tony's health problems, because of his mini reactor in his chest. Well, like any rich and famous person, Stark has a competitor in the person of Justin Hammer. And Iron Man will have to solve all these issues, along the way, and finally charm Miss Pots. Of course, all this he succeeds, he even received a medal for courage of some degree.
The movie was a success. At the box office, having collected about 600 million dollars. Which means that Favreau and Robert are hooked. I consider this one of the best sequels in the history of cinema (after all, there is a rule that the second part is an order of magnitude worse and weaker than the first). In this case, if HC and worse than the first part, it is very little. The action scene and special effects look great. Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke were very pleased. A cool couple of bad guys came out. Scarlett Johansson in latex is like a bonus. I will not write about Downey Junior again. And so it is clear that the actor of the highest level, and the hero of Stark turned out to be amazing. He seems like a bad guy, arrogant, arrogant, sharp on his tongue, but it's catchy. Everyone is tired of the right characters.
It's great. It's a must see.
As a rule, fans of intellectual or “other” movies about superheroes are demonstratively bypassed in three quarters with the slogan “I did not watch, but condemn.” Although Marvel has never hidden the fact that it only makes its comics for profit, it has to be credited with making commercial movies... not bad (though it could have been better). But at least in the cinema, yes, popcorn goes well.
The plus of the Iron Man franchise is that you can start looking at any part and you'll understand the plot perfectly. Especially if before that in the Internet came across the memes “My face when...”, “Who are you without your suit?” and Tony Stark with a smug face and his hands spread aside, announcing that everything was brilliant.
Start. A press conference where we learn that the protagonist is the savior of the world. And then Moscow, in its atmosphere more reminiscent of 1917. And reason yells, "Russians"? The Russians again? What is their fault again? In fact, it's kind of indecent. The last decade in American cinema has seen a change in the power of negative characters. Gunster-mafiosi-Russian-Islamists of all stripes-local cyberterrorists. The red threat is the last century. In the truest sense of the word.
Russian Mickey Rourke with a Celtic cross on his chest and all-dozek tattoos with his eclecticism on the one hand causes bewilderment, and on the other... what difference does it make? It's Mickey Rourke! And then the question is, where is he? Why in the first hour Ivan Vanko made only one, very modest for the villain, eager for revenge, attempt to destroy the main character? Walked with a bare torso, made friends with a white parrot - that seems not enough. At least, even after the enchanting revival of the army of drones, the hero left the feeling of only a “model maker”. Someone assembles extra-class cars at the factory, and someone sorts through the engines of cars from the landfill in the garage. You can drive on the first and the second, but quality? . .
Tony Stark is the quintessential man’s dream: rich, arrogant, self-confident, powerful, and a lot of fancy tech toys. From a female point of view, it is impossible. I imagine such a hero in reality - and I don't understand: how do people tolerate him? Although he is an attractive element, it is worth admitting. Even in theory, a tragic fight with a best friend looks more like a nice flirtation. At least in the beginning.
How many times have we seen a plot where the main character, drunk with his wealth or grief, begins the path of self-destruction. Friends, loved ones and loved ones leave him. Even enemies often turn away, expressing their “fi.” But then insight, awareness, trying to change the situation. And everything gets ho-ho-ho. On the one hand, such banal stories tell us life itself: after all, until we shake a lot, we will not believe that everything is at the limit. On the other hand, I want some unexpected turns, new research, a changed scenario. Militants, especially American ones, are doomed to the vulgarity of the narrative.
The plot of Iron Man 2 is also predictable. Except that the fight with the antagonist in the form of Justin Hammer causes a slight bewilderment. Can you be afraid of him? This person is easy to verbally “overwhelm”, even if he is armed with an army of combat robots. And then weep, prove, justify: victory will still not be on your side.
The film is interesting in its unobtrusive exercises towards fashionable films in the 80s about the future, balancing on the verge of technology and dystopia. Rock, road, power - this feeling complements and interesting, "in life" sound. Spectacularity in the form of special effects, a small model of the Large Hadron Collider and fights. This is all there is, the viewer will not be dissatisfied. Unless you forget the movie the next day. But it's good. All the more surprises in the sequel.
The Iron Man franchise, like the entire Marvel universe united under the aegis of the Avengers, cannot be imagined without one name – Robert Downey Jr. His Tony Stark, which turned out not by accident, not just by a lucky coincidence, single-handedly collects fabulous sums in cinemas and serves as the Archimedean fulcrum that does not allow the machina of the Avengers to collapse under the weight of their own ambitions, but turns the world around.
To be honest, Iron Man 2 is as simple as all Marvel comics, if not stupid. The standard Hollywood three-act scenario, which is written out, albeit meticulously, and the problem here is not limited to one thing - they tried to more or less complicate it, putting several tasks before the hero at once - is still depressing by the weak study of the psychology of characters and plot drama. Such film adaptations of comics, as practice shows, are doomed to failure only if they do not have their trump card (or maybe a joker?) up their sleeve. Well, "Iron Man" has its own strong card - Downey Jr. Only the charismatic Downey can distract from the idiocy of the outrage taking place on the screen, only his prickly hangover humor is able to crush into dust any pathos arising in the frame, only his self-irony can heal the comic book film from its eternal diseases.
Caught in stainless metal in the first film, the image of billionaire Stark did not undergo any metamorphosis and again in a carelessly lazy manner is exploited by Downey. Here Stark habitually bamboozles in public, here Stark enters into another act of a long-protracted verbal foreplay with the lady of the heart Pepper (Paltrow), but Stark gathers with thoughts and defends his secondary title of genius - creates from dust and ashes another nuclear reactor, better than before.
And only somewhere aside, behind the scenes, only alone with himself, Tony falls into exaltation, torpor, only being near death, he removes his second, invisible suit. And somewhere in these short shots, a living person shines through for a moment, rather than the public image of an eternally cheerful star. At that very elusive moment, only for seconds, in the depths of Downey’s dark sad eyes, somewhere under the layer of the tight and clumsy image of Iron Man, a good actor is seen trapped there.
The frame of the comic book always puts pressure on actors, while inviting really good artists to waste their precious time in such projects has become quite common practice. In the second “Iron Man” on some horrifying third roles starred Sam Rockwell, whose talent was noticeably strangled here: if he played out in full force, it would immediately become clear where the actor and where, sorry, furniture. As it was, for example, in Andrew Dominic in "How cowardly Robert Ford killed Jesse James" - against the background of Rockwell in the frame it was possible, without fools, to lose Brad Pitt
The pretty Gwyneth Paltrow, who in the film is more on the pickup than something plays (but when she plays, she is definitely noticeable). Paltrow is perfectly shaded by the brighter sexuality of Scarlett Johansson, for the first time acting in the role of a strong woman in all respects - when both actresses are in the same room, fidgeting on the chair begins not only playboy Stark, but all male viewers on the other side of the screen. How necessary girls of their parameters and talent such applied roles of sexual objects is a debatable question. There is no doubt about another: to lure a titan of the level of Samuel L. Jackson for a ten-minute role - blasphemy of pure water.
What the comic can not do without is without a bright antagonist. Charming with some terrible charm Mickey Rourke plays the role of Ivan Vanko - a Russian scientist who has long accounts with the Stark family. The Russian scientist says a lot, doesn’t it? Not only does the shockingly brutal Rourke not look too similar to a Russian, he does not pull on a scientist even in the most daring fantasies. That’s why it’s funny: when Vanko, with a monstrous accent in Russian, informs an American arms manufacturer that his soft de “smells bad” – well, what else is needed for happiness?
And all the charm of "Iron Man" in its seemingly spontaneous and inappropriate fun, in a half-drunk frenzy under AC/DC, in the bribing immediacy and honesty of the main character. But Tony Stark is no hero. He is sharp on the tongue, slightly hypocritical, moderately lying, quite pompous and overconfident. Tony Stark is American, American to the core. In fact, his story is a retelling of the classic success story of another idol, an illustration of the American dream in a comic storyboard. This is an inside out Citizen Kane, translated into the language of special effects, stamped at the Boeing factory and thrown on the supermarket counter at a price of $ 9.99*.
"Iron Man" Favreau is also reflected in the curved mirror BatmanNolan. The difference is that, having stumbled upon another acute angle of the comic book genre that is difficult for serious problems, Nolan builds a serious mine and meaningfully falls silent, and Favreau in the same situation - sneering sneering, as if at himself, and this, it is worth admitting, is much more cute. For all the similarities, Stark and Wayne are opposite poles. It is no shame to confess your love for the dubious hero Iron Man, but who in their right mind will admire the eternally unheroically frustrating Batman? It is impossible not to love the inflated billionaire Stark, but who will be able to love the empty “masking” Bruce Wayne, from designer shirts which still blows creepy Patrick Bateman?
It's a one-man show, but every one of those shows lives on for a short time. Sooner or later, guests will get tired, and thrown out by the master of the trout will begin first to tire of monotony, then to frighten, to cause disgust and horror, from the fact that we actually liked it. It’s like eating your favorite strawberry ice cream and eating it until it gets sick. Recently, a similar crash happened with Johnny Depp - they say that he is no longer a star. Downey's disputes over fees, when it came to formal blackmail and threats, do not look like whims - for such roles, his profession and milk should be given to people, for harmfulness. But is citizen Stark lucky enough to stop in time and not be left alone in an empty museum of his name?
Applause to Comrade Stark, it seems, will accompany this almost canonized character from one notorious sequel to another for a long time, meanwhile, to thank the main role performer for the massive madness of the film adaptation of a mediocre comic book, the template of commercially successful folk opium, does not make sense a priori, because if someone else were in his place, the icon of self-love and arrogance would only change his bearded face, but not instilled with her human qualities that ensured the continuation of a popular film enthusiastic enthusiasm for the opium, it is more attractive than the crowd.
The return of Tony Stark in the costume of the cult American idol faces the problem of the lack of really important for the formation of the character details of his life, is necessary exclusively for impressive box office, involving the repetition of the hero’s path in a slightly different variation, but with a necessarily new reason for impressive action scenes, by the way, also have no place to be. The posturing of the owner of iron armor, as a paradox, saves the viewer from being plunged into the despondency of his idle existence, for incoherent episodes of a bout of complacency, and sometimes even outpourings of patriotic feelings, the only thing that can be treated directly with humor, without looking back at their obvious banality.
Having left the last stronghold of the Middle Ages covered with snow, something similar to the Yeti, in the world also called the Russian evil Vanya, is in a hurry to enter into a cruel and uncompromising duel with capitalism hated by him, the filmmakers elected as an antagonist, as a rule, promising the viewer the triumph of high-quality special effects, alas, quite easily sent to a knockout, so that the money allocated for the production of the film did not offend the members of the film crew, the amount of fees paid exclusively paid to their talent. As a result, the confrontation between the ambitious embodiment of the American dream and the coldness of the post-Soviet space turned out to be only a pathetic prelude to the coming crossover, unnecessary and meaningless.
As Alfred Hitchcock once said, “The better the villain, the better the film.” It is a pity, but the negative character that has migrated from the original comic book is a rather mediocre obstacle in the life of Tony Stark, moreover, is a typical template of a bad guy, whose only distinguishing feature was an extraordinary cleanliness and a complete lack of Russian accent. In the absence of the driving force of the conflict, which poses a serious threat to the opponent of the main character, the sagging of the storylines cannot be avoided, as well as not to find significant differences between the secondary significance of the characters of the story, necessary only to please the fans of the film series with their fruitless presence in the frame.
“I can take up the post of defense minister if you ask me well.”
The fate of all films that have sequels is the same: there will be a group of people who will criticize the second part. The first movie is better anyway. It doesn’t matter that the story isn’t finished. I don’t like sequels sometimes either, but Iron Man isn’t the case. The second part, like the first one, is so good! Perhaps an important role was played by director John Favreau, who shot both parts, and therefore kept the straight line of history and transferred the style of the first picture to the second.
This time Iron Man will face, first, competition, and second, his own vices. Tony Stark, being at the peak of popularity and universal adoration, could not even think that someone could have personal accounts with him. However, such a person is. His name is Ivan Vanko, who is also a talented scientist and the owner of an original technically progressive suit. Having fallen on his head and become confused, Tony is too fond of alcohol and women, almost loses his best friend and creates a tense situation between himself and Pepper.
Even if there was no need to continue the story of Iron Man, the second part still doesn’t seem superfluous. It's not thumb-sucking, it's not epically dramatic. It's just another chapter in Tony Stark's life. The chapter is spectacular, full of both battle and simple life truths and unchanging irony. Something, but the jokes performed by such a really cool character is a very important thing for a fantastic film (for me personally).
She made a good turn with Tony a year ago.
- I also wrote an article!
I'm Iron Man. The suit and I are one, and giving someone a suit is like handing me over, which already smells like slavery or prostitution. Depends on what you like. I won't give it away.
- I am not an expert, of course.
- In prostitution, of course, you are a senator, what are you?
Of course, I want to say a lot about the talent of Mickey Rourke. He's just a perfect evil doctor, not very, of course, like a Russian, but a great negative character. Like Sam Rockwell, I can’t help it, I love him. Of the new faces that have appeared in this part (for I have already said a lot about Robert Downey Jr. in the review of the first part - I will not talk about him!), Don Cheadle is striking, who replaced Terrence Howard as Colonel Rhodes. I really don’t like it when you substitute an actor in this way, although I understand that the reasons for this can be different and quite respectful.
We should add a spoonful of tar. I didn't like Scarlett Johansson. Not just her, but her character. I'm so tired of these beautiful girls! All these women are vamps, and also fighters, who put ten healthy men in the hallway like this. Such girls in cinema, spelled out in the script in full seriousness, always made me smile.
As a result, the second part of Iron Man came out very good, as interesting and spectacular as the first. It was nice to watch the romantic scene in the finale, as well as smile at the last shots and enjoy the immortal track of AC/DC.
Downey Jr. was compelling. Damn, I didn't want to talk about him anymore.
“What is good for me is good for everyone.” Tony Stark.
The movie looks in one breath. There is nothing superfluous, not one scene. The writer, director and everyone involved in the creation of Iron Man 2, worked hard and deserve the highest marks.
Robert Downey Jr. as always ' on horseback', the whole film exudes rays, skill, artistry, charisma like the sun. Separately, I note perfectly ' joined ' in the role of Vanco-Mickey Rourke, his game, external data, makeup allowed to really create the image of an irresistible and genuine villain.
The 2nd part was no less ideological and exciting than the first. And how coolly connected the first and second films, without far-fetchedness, and of course, as if the script was written at once for two or even three films at once, at least continuity at a height. A new story, new scenes, new denouements will not let you get bored. Special effects, which have become by default a very significant element of such films, of course at a high (and possibly the highest) level.
The film is high-quality and not once, $ 200 million was spent far from in vain, I recommend everyone! )
Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has 3 problems: The first, his "Iron Man" want to enter the General base of arms of the United States of America. The second is an attempt on him by a certain Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) who seeks revenge for the humiliation of his family. And the third, most important, palladium, which allows Tony to live, at the same time kills him and Tony needs to find another element in order to exist.
The second part caused me much less positive emotions than the first, it absolutely does not catch anything and during the film sometimes made me sleep.
Compared to the first part, Robert Downey Jr. has noticeably lost his position, either he did not try as hard as before, or the audience has just gotten used to his manner and it no longer looks so attractive. Mickey Rourke receives an unambiguous assessment for his game, on the one hand he did not show anything outstanding and memorable, on the other hand, on the screen his character looked quite competitive in the fight against Iron Man, somewhere even surpassing him. But Gwyneth Paltrow, unlike Downey Jr., did not give up, and somewhere even added, with her presence on the screen she gave the picture elegance, beauty and the most important interest. Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson fit quite harmoniously into the picture, giving the picture several vectors of the plot development. Compared to the first part, the dialogues were poorly worked out, and the script as a whole: there were fewer funny and subtle jokes not only from Tony, but from all the characters in general, and if there were, there were very, very few of them. But the special effects remained at the same level, especially remember the final fight, here is only to applaud. It was also nice to hear AC/DC's "High Way to Hell" song.
So, "Iron Man 2" our view turned out to be a weak continuation of the first part of the franchise: the plot turned out to be less exciting, the play of the actors, except Gwyneth Paltrow, did not cause special emotions. The second part lost the lightness, entertainment, subtlety and specific elegance that was inherent in the first part. But you can see this picture once.
This is the sequel to the so beloved “Iron Man”. But I didn't expect anything from this sequel. No, I just didn't expect it, but I really wanted to see it. It feels like a double thing. Iron Man 2 didn’t disappoint. He puts more emphasis on entertainment, humor and action, not forgetting Tony Stark as a person, not forgetting that superheroes suffer too.
Plot
Tony Stark realizes that the reactor that saves his heart from the shrapnel is destroying it from the inside. In the meantime, the military, along with Stark’s rival Justin Hammer, wants to get their hands on Iron Man costume technology. And then there is an evil Russian criminal whose father suffered because of Tony's father. An evil Russian wants to avenge Tony's father. And Tony has to deal with it somehow.
Pain, the military, Justin Hammer and the evil Russian are Tony Stark's enemies. Is it too much for one person? That’s where Tony’s weaknesses come in. Tony reveals himself to us as a person. It’s a little different from the first part of the trilogy.
But to be honest, it’s a shame that it doesn’t have the tension that was in the first Iron Man when Tony was vulnerable and we were worried about him. In the sequel, we already know that he will cope with everything, but we also worry about him, a little less than in the first part, but we are worried.
The cast
Robert Downey Jr. He's just a strong actor. And in all parts of the trilogy it is different. This is clearly his role. The role of a playboy, a billionaire, a philanthropist.
The villain turned out by Mickey Rourke - beautiful!! This is a kind of synthesis of Whiplash and Red Dynamo. I am glad that he does not fit the image of the stereotypical Russian villain that was formed during the Cold War, although he may not be happy that he is an evil Russian, but is generally tolerant.
Rowdy and Happy Hogan revealed more in the film.
Nick Fury and Black Widow are either a highlight or a surprise of the film. But to me, they're just a reference to "The Avengers." No more, no less.
Soundtrack:
Isn't that AC/DC? Yeah? Right! Just like the first one! Don't let go!
Atmosphere:
The synthesis of a good soundtrack, chic acting, cool action and a reference to the Avengers sets the appropriate atmosphere.
Bottom line:
I really liked this sequel. Even a little more than Iron Man 1, to be honest.
8 out of 10
"Iron Man 2" is a sequel. In light of the glory of this picture has already created a rather impressive number of tapes. This is the third part of Iron Man. There is also a related film, which uses this movie hero ("Avengers"). The chronology arranged them in such a way that between the second and third parts are recommended for viewing The Avengers. If I follow the rules of this chronology, I look at everything in order. And since I have only reached the second part, then we will talk about it.
I have already pointed out that Robert Downey Jr. literally merged with his image. Not before ("Sherlock Holmes", for example), or after (for example, "Spring") I did not see the kind of enthusiasm, the light in his eyes that he had when playing the role of Iron Man. I hope it's not his swan song. Here his hero proves his worth in an uncomfortable situation for him - Tony Stark. The incident in Monaco disrupted harmony. There was resentment in society. They began to complain about the death of the gods. Iron Man is no longer their protection. Authorities are pushing to take prototype costumes into service. In this regard, it almost fell under the monastery because of James's delight. But there was a threat of unprecedented proportions. Revenge for the father-Russian scientist, who worked for Father Stark, leads to a catharsis of the entire population, which lived neither sleep nor spirit knew about him.
How, what, why and why – you need to see it. It's worth looking at. Definitely. And although I am not the most ardent fan of films of this genre, and although again, personally in my opinion, the film is not something so outstanding, but how everything was shown, you can see it. The ending of everything is more than worthy! And don’t be embarrassed by my not very high assessment of this action. I have my reasons. For me, the film is a bit heavy. The first part was like flying. The current one has been pulled by the ears somewhere. Maybe it just seems like it...
The cast is definitely on top here. And at a decent height! About the lead actor I have already said. Gwyneth Paltrow also did not stray from the course. As if there was no two-year break between the releases of these first two paintings.
Mickey Rourke pleased twice. The last time I saw him was in War of the Gods: Immortals. I don’t even know (and I don’t want to find out specifically) if he was still filmed somewhere in that time interval, but one thing is obvious: Playing in such a rather catchy project as "Iron Man" - means experiencing a second youth! . .
But the appearance of Scarlett Johansson I was generally like a balm for the soul. And it's not just her beauty. After all, I saw it on the booklet of "The Avengers" before watching it. I set out to find out before watching The Avengers: “Where did her character migrate to that picture?” It was easy to understand where the Hulk, Thor and Iron Man came from. So it was a revelation to me that she was from here. I don't want to say that she's a tough guy here. I’m not used to seeing her with black hair.
Samuel L. Jackson is almost always the same in all films. But he has his own charisma. So for the one-sidedness of his heroes, we will always forgive him.
In addition to what I have already said, I would like to say that Tony Stark’s costume was not improved. He was the same. Which means it's almost perfect. We are limited here only to changing the "medicine" from the heart. Palladium was replaced with a completely new substance. Perhaps this vociferously informed us that even the creators are not going to limit themselves to existing parts. Iron Man is not going to stop and say goodbye to the audience. .
Doing a bad movie is like spitting on forever. (Faina Ranevskaya)
I didn’t watch the first part because the title of Iron Man didn’t speak of a highly intelligent movie. I decided to watch the second part, but only for Scarlett Johansson! I am very sorry that I spent two hours of my life on this so-called movie.
Actors! Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) A charming podhigist, in love with his own self, but not forgetting to save the world! It's a good image!
Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanova) Played great! It’s a shame that a talented actress agrees to star in such films!
Mickey Rourke (Ivan Vanko) "Our Russian Vanya." I liked the way I played. Now the Russians not only drink, but also drink birds, and I was stupid and did not know.
If it were not for a great cast, then you could safely throw this movie into scrap!
Iron Man 2 is about noise, riots, a host of villains, inappropriate stunts and undisclosed storylines. To be fair, I would like to note the good special effects.
“If you give God a little blood, people will quickly cease to believe in him.”
You almost always expect more from a sequel, but it rarely beats its predecessor. Iron Man 2 didn’t disappoint. He puts more emphasis on entertainment, humor and action, not forgetting about the main character and his environment.
Plot
There are more storylines in the sequel. First, Tony Stark realizes that the magnet that saves his heart is poisoning him. He wants to spend his last days as best he can. The second is that the military, along with Stark’s rival Justin Hammer, wants Iron Man technology. The third - in Tony's life there is a Russian criminal who suffered at the hands of Tony's father and wants to get even with his son. Despite the fact that the plot received several offshoots, they seem simple and easy to perceive. This allows you to expand the screen time of some characters from the previous part, as well as introduce new ones. We’ve heard a lot about S.H.I.E.L.D. in the last movie, and in this one we get a better sense of what it is like in the movie franchise. To be honest, it’s a shame that it doesn’t have the tension that was in the first Iron Man when Tony was vulnerable and we were worried about him. In the sequel, we know that he will cope with everything.
The cast of
I’m sure Robert Downey Jr. now has the opportunity to just be himself in some scenes. The main problem of the protagonist was self-destruction, both involuntary and conscious. He understands that he is dying and repels loved ones. The scene in which his father “addresses” him through a video recording is one of the strongest in terms of acting.
“You died twenty years ago and you’re still giving me lessons.”
This time the villain has undergone improvement. Ivan Vanko is a synthesis of Stark’s two enemies from the comics. Whiplash and Red Dynamo. I am glad that he does not fit the image of the stereotypical Russian villain, formed during the Cold War. He has a strong character and causes, at times he elicits sympathy. The very first scene is the death of Father Ivan, the viewer begins to empathize with him. In addition, Mickey Rourke perfectly coped with the role, recalling the performance of Viggo Mortensen in “The Vice for Export”. It was very interesting to watch this family feud in the second generation. More screen time came from Jamie Rhodes and Happy Hogan. I doubted whether Don Cheadle could replace Terrence Howard, but he played well. Now Rowdy is more desperate, not afraid to contradict Tony if he's wrong. But, no less surprising were the first full-fledged roles of Nick Fury and Black Widow. We learn about them from the film as much as necessary, intrigue is not lost.
Music
“Give me a powerful beat to beat my best friend!”
The composer has changed, but it almost does not feel. Most of the musical accompaniment involves written early compositions. “Shoot to thrill” from AC/DC.
Visual and technical part
The action is great. The best fight is on the track. This is the first time Tony uses his portable suit. This is the first time Iron Man is fighting robots, but that’s my main claim to the film. Tony and Roydy spend a lot of time on robots, and when Vanko shows up, the fight only lasts three minutes. The digital interface in Tony's lab is very interesting. The quality of the effects is amazing. The sound montage is very impressive, not counting the fact that in two fights the same sound effect of the blow is repeated repeatedly.
Bottom line:
I really liked this sequel. Apart from the last fight with the main villain, which just could have been longer, this is a quality spectacular film. It reveals Tony’s relationship with other characters, especially Pepper, introduces Black Widow into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and propels us closer to The Avengers. If you liked the first movie, I’m sure you’ll find the second one entertaining.
9 out of 10
On the eve of a very soon triquel revised the second part.
Plot. As in the first film, the director is John Favreau, but the screenwriter is only one – a little-known Justin Theroux. But the plot almost does not suffer from this, I do not know how it was in the comics, however, as far as I remember, Ivan Vanko was not Whiplash. The move, however, is good, as is the Warrior's origin, different from the comic book. I said ' hardly suffers' because the plot holes are, besides, the scene with the father is a typical unoriginal motivation, and the injection of lydium dioxide looks like a last-minute solution, invented by the writer also at the last minute. But this does not greatly affect the impression and practically does not spoil it. In addition, I was impressed by the scene with Thor's hammer after the credits. 6.9 out of 10.
Special effects. Just like in the first film, only two years have passed, there are more possibilities, so the armor, explosions and so on have become more spectacular. I can't say anything. I'm too good for special effects in movies. 10 out of 10.
Protagonist. Robert Downey Jr. was charismatic, charismatic and remained. However, in the first film, he was the focus of humor and at the same time was capable of serious decisions. There's a lot of humor in it, not all jokes are so funny, like I don't understand why everyone likes the birthday scene so much. I mean, it's not exactly the Tony that was in the last movie. That is, yes, life is going downhill, an imminent death, but still, in my opinion, Stark from the first film would not immediately spoil everything and did a little more logical. In addition, advising the enemy how to improve the suit is a serious mistake, so humor is at the expense of common sense. However, overall, Downey remained a great actor. 8 out of 10.
Antagonist. Actually, it's better here. Mickey Rourke perfectly coped with the role of Ivan Vanko, a kind of tortured Russian, avenging his father, who suffered from Howard Stark. Of course, he will have to lose in the end, but it’s a little pity that he never really got revenge. Another villain, Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), liked it even more because he wasn’t exactly a villain, but rather a greedy industrialist chasing fame, profit, and a desire to humiliate Stark, but not revenge him. 7.5 out of 10.
The other characters. We have Agent Phil Coulson again, played by Clark Gregg, and this character has really not changed at all. The role of James Rhodes is played by Tom Ciddle, and in my opinion, he is better than Howard (who was not allowed to walk around in the first film anyway). A warrior is a chic character like Tony, but not a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist and without that sense of self-worth. Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow) isn’t a fool from the first movie, but he still gets annoyed sometimes. In the third, in my opinion, should become a completely normal character. Scarlett Johansson also plays Black Widow. Of course, she is sexy, hardcore, but this image is not original. In the Avengers, it will be revealed a little better than it is here. 7.8 out of 10.
Fighting. How much drive, action, entertainment! Fights with Vanko, with Rowdy, with drones are certainly worth seeing, even if you haven’t seen the movie. In the review of the first film, I mentioned that there is only one real fight. Well, there are more of them here, and they are put better. 8.5 out of 10.
Bottom line: A little bit worse than the first movie, which is very good for the sequel. The plot and the main character suffered, but everything else improved compared to the original.
