The film is positioned as a satire of the zombie movie genre (which I do not respect, frankly), a kind of deconstruction of the formula of typical films about the living dead. However, ironically, somewhere in the middle (and maybe a little earlier) a Zombie named Sean himself firmly stands on the rails of this formula and right up to the very end it is strictly followed. But the first act of the film fully justifies both the title and the genre. Especially amusing is the scene in which Sean in the morning the usual way goes to the store, absolutely not noticing that all the people around him for the night were left without a pulse and without brains, but acquired a brutal desire to eat these brains. And this is just a great satire not only for movies about zombies, but about our whole world. Tell me, how many times have you seen people on the streets who are completely indifferent to reality, walking mechanically somewhere where they probably do not want to be, looking nowhere? And no, I did not describe the walking evil spirit, but the lion’s share of those people who make up the so-called “middle class” and are hopelessly stuck on this step of the social ladder. In fact, to become a zombie, a person does not need to die, rise again, and so on. It is enough just to stand in this life in a dead end, point-blank without seeing it. Even the main character before the zombie apocalypse was such. But, having gone through all the troubles, he was able to become a man.
True, these troubles, as I said, are pure zombie-movie with a couple of funny moments. All the same clichés (without the slightest attempt to make fun of them), the same types of characters, and in the end a giant piano is rolled out of the bushes, stuffed with the military, who handle the whole situation. And, in the context of the cool social satire at the beginning, it looks extremely unimpressive, as if two halves of the same film were shot by different directors.
A Zombie Named Sean is not a bad movie if you have nothing to watch tonight. There is a cool English humor, charming Simon Pegg and often successful gags about typical zombie films, which this movie, unfortunately, is likened.
6.5 out of 10
From the first shot you realize that the film is not American (in a good way). The British know a lot of things, including making movies. Often their films turn out to be non-banal and go beyond the canons, even because it so happened that Hollywood invents all the canons. In this particular case, it was also possible to successfully cross the genres of horror and comedy, showing a zombie apocalypse with the authors’ inherent English accent and sense of humor.
Interesting camera work, good soundtrack, cool Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
Yes, this is not the only such experiment in world cinema, but this film was released almost 20 years ago and is still good!
The fact that with such a small budget (£4 million) managed to squeeze the maximum quality is undoubtedly the merit of the director and his team. The film fell to the liking of both critics and film lovers, which is often not correlated.
I can describe this work as a rather light movie (if such an epithet can be applied to zombie films) without vulgarity. It looks fresh, fun and interesting.
How do these films often impress the audience? It seems to me that the whole point is in combining different genres in spirit and mood. For example, Benigni’s work “Life is Beautiful.” The juggling between drama and comedy in this Italian film is so subtly executed that the real work comes out in contrast. Dark emphasizes light, and light emphasizes dark. Such conditions only double the effect of viewing. In the case of Shawn, we have a slightly different cocktail. Laughter and horror.
I think it would make sense to go through the technical details quickly. Thank God they're all right. Cinematography, lighting, editing and working with sound – all at the level that should be in such a comedy. There is no point in making long, albeit beautiful, flights of Lubetzky. Just like there's no point in Guy Ritchie's rampant editing. Each element is in its place.
Then we can move on to the acting game. Again, there's nothing to complain about. All characters are embodied in the image and in accordance with the archetype they represent. The same Ed is literally like Shakespeare's Falstaff.
Slowly moving from the actors to the plot, let’s not stray too far from the theme of the aforementioned comic knight. Because what we're really seeing is growing up and moving from fun to responsibility. After all, as if Henry V is saying goodbye to his fat and good-natured friend, Sean must say goodbye to Ed, in whose face all infantileity is expressed. If our main character wants to return the girl, wants to escape from the captivity of childishness, then he will have to leave behind a lot. And bad habits, and old school friends, and excessive love for mom, and on the list. This is precisely the main conflict. And it's done hurrah! The production, the plot, the acting - everything works for each other.
In truth, it’s rare to see a painting that fits so well into its genre and format. Often, even a very expensive and very “quality” movie can simply look ugly or too bulky. And I think Zombie by the Name of Sean is a great example of how a film can be, in its own way, a masterpiece without Hollywood actors of the first tier, without bright special effects and mind-blowing scenery. The main thing is to be yourself!
Three colors of Cornetto ice cream: Red is zombie.
It would be more correct to translate the name as “Sean of the Dead”, because this is a reference to “Dawn of the dead” (as ironic – in the same year the remake was released), but it sounds somewhat crooked. In the film there are references in abundance, I have heard that there are about 50 of them (starting with an alien tune in the very beginning, when the screensaver appears), but I will name only those that I honestly identified myself. Sean says "Ash is sick" - a reference to "Evil Dead", specifically the third part, where it turns out that "Tarl Cabot" works in a home appliance store. The radio reports that the probe returned from another planet – the classic “Night of the Living Dead”. Fulci's restaurant transparently alludes to Lucio Fulci, a luminary of the horror genre. Ed shouts into the phone, "We're coming for you, Barbara!" is, of course, the same "Night of the Living Dead." A man rushes down the street, looking back at the run - Invasion of Body Snatchers (1978). Sean ties his red tie to his head like a bondana and becomes like Christopher Walken in Deer Hunter. David is torn to pieces like the captain in Day of the Dead.
By the way, “Sean” liked old George Romero, so Edgar Wright (director) and Simon Pegg (chief actor) appeared in the episode “Lands of the Dead” as zombies, who were photographed near the ring.
I really like the scene where Sean “flashes the channels” and excerpts of various programs add up to a whole story about what is happening. I wonder if this scene was inspired by the creators of “Die Hard-4”, where the terrorists “lay out” their appeal excerpts from the speeches of American presidents?
The Cornetto Trilogy is a unique thing. Films are not related plot, belong to different genres, but there are a number of common features. The main roles are played by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, secondary ones are Martin Freeman and Bill Nighy (by the way, the task for you is to find Martin Freeman in Zombie Sean). Movies 2 and 3 feature Setrakian from The Strain, as well as an actor who played James Bond. In each part, there is a scene where someone tries to jump the fence but fails to do so. And, of course, the main characters eat ice cream "Cornetto".
P.S. If there had been an opportunity to shoot The Boys in 2004, Huey would have been the most canonical.
I sat down to watch zombie movies and watched Dawn of the Dead, Welcome to Zombieland and this. The films are surprisingly close in quality and color, not to say similar, but they are pleasantly resonated and recorded on the consciousness of a single setting, in all three there is an unusual mover and, oddly enough, optimism and fun. I don’t like movies about zombies in their classic pitch, blood, cannibalism, dismemberment, but this bundle is quite impressive. And although there are always inexorable violations of logic and stupidity of the characters, but the films are bright. The main advantage of such films is the revealed characters of the heroes. And specifically, Sean was pleased with the fact that for a long time he did not even notice the beginning of the apocalypse, he successfully went to the store from the morning, such moments were generally perfectly laughed at.
We should not be afraid of the realities of Irvine Welsh, because they are already loaded into our world. It is not necessary for this to have a cabinet with tranquilizers for evaporate to the end - it is enough to leave yourself a couple of grams of weed, a game console and a can of soda. Remains humbled to live. To live with the same neighbors’ faces, stupid colleagues, compressed cramp with a mini-market across the street – yes, it is a crime to have a car in London. Not a city, but an anthill with clearly defined roles: one runs, another mints a football, the third always sits in front of the TV with a joystick. And Sean. Sean is still trying to reverse postmodernism, does not accept it, which is why he is so hopelessly trying to hide all the charms of a sweet life. Another thing is that all these charms are contained in the pretty blonde Liz, and the rest does not exist within the dreams of the 29-year-old average Englishman. Wealth, fame, greatness - simulacra and simulations; mess in the house and the pub - "that's what I love!" Youth rapidly passes over a mug of beer, and you will not have time to blink an eye, as the installation effectively sweeps from point A to point B. Keep consuming while your girlfriend tries to break out with her friends at a restaurant, the local equivalent of a drama theater at least. Ed does not mind, extra hands will help put more enemies from the digital machine.
In the morning, you walk up to the mirror like a zombie, and then you get scared by a boring buddy. Then invigorating vanilla cola, minus fifteen cents in your wallet, routine work. And tomorrow it'll happen again. Sean's life is no different than that of a real zombie who just eats his brains and weaves forward, looking at one point. So their invasion does not become sudden. Sean and Ed confidently cope with uninvited guests, making a couple of warm-up throws on the forehead and a plate in the eye. After a couple of scenes, they are able to survive even more, ready to the edge of the Earth to follow the mother of a red seller. To Liz, too. Why, Sean alone knows. He probably still clings to the chance to make up so he can go back to the Winchester pub after a hard day. Where you can introduce a girl to her mother and deal with annoying friends, simultaneously scoring a gray-haired zombie on a steak under “Don’t Stop Me Now”. Sean will be able to cry beautifully, while the stepfather will talk about pride for his son in a stereotyped way, and David will find time for fatal confessions while Ed eats peanuts and behaves like an idiot. They're doing too well. After all, Sean’s life is not different from the life of zombies – the whole planet lives by the same rules and norms. It is easy for everyone to get used to the role of the sinister dead in a peaceful sky above their heads, so survival skills are developed under the ceiling. They are ready to play soap operas, the dawn of the dead will not hurt. It is much easier for people to survive in the wild conditions of famous horrors viewed on tapes than in the loop of society.
The world is like a video game, and the zombie apocalypse in it is a graphic modification. Seriously, the world hasn't changed by a tenth, except for the puffy-eyed flu victims. Going out for provisions, contrary to the genre features of survival-horror, is not accompanied by roads of rage, and hordes of howling half-dohlics do not interfere with personal showdowns behind boarded-up windows of Winchester. As if there was no virus mowing down the world’s population: existence for the sake of existence has done its dirty work. News broadcasts according to the laws of marketing, zombies build new tin soldiers army trends. Advertising privatised the end of the world – God, could you have foreseen this when the flood happened? Horror died of fear, afraid of modernity, and man adapted and now has no distinction from evil creatures. So the director Edgar Wright from despair parody not horror movies, and the modern world, zombies. He imitates George Romero and Sam Raimi, when he copies the appearance and habits of the infected, makes the characters replay several techniques characteristic of the genre, but does not focus on the horrors. This only benefited the film, where the satire looks subtle and appropriate, is not digested into an incessant stream of idiotic jokes, sometimes covers up the plot simplicity. Society gets kicks from the director is much more painful: he directly says that the lot of man is to eat, swear and lie on the couch.
Unfortunately, despite the classically predictable finale, in its depths it cannot be called happy. Simulacrum is the finale, stupidity. The world hasn't changed. It is also submerged at the bottom of consumerism, tabloids with chips and entertainment shows. The new apocalypse did not help, such a disappointing sentence is passed by Wright. People were not even mired in paranoia, the pandemic passed like a shower. Nobody cares. If humanity is able to survive a nuclear winter, is it worth waiting for another doomsday?

I’ve been planning to watch this movie for a long time, but its time has come. I’d rather spend an hour and a half on something more useful.
What is wrong with the movie?
In short, everything. Let’s consider “Sean” as horrors – we’ll get confused (seriously, what are we offered to tremble over? is it the fact that there are zombies in the frame?). Remember that this is also a comedy - also past (maybe two or three jokes and made you smile, but for the most part they were too crooked and flat to claim the audience's laughter). Take a look at the zombies themselves - nothing unusual or new, too, we will not see.
The biggest disappointment for me was the story. There's a lot of talk about pseudo-satire on zombie movies, per se. Well, in the beginning it may be so (when Sean does not take the epidemic seriously and treats the newly minted zombies as ordinary people stuck in everyday routine), but that’s it! All! No more satire, just jokes about the fart of the main character's friend! The whole subsequent plot gets on the tracks of a typical film about a zombie epidemic with a typical love line, and also with a typical God from the machine at the end! Bravo! Neither add nor add!
Seriously, for me, a huge mystery where so many positive reviews came from. I know the taste is not disputed, but what could be found in this canvas? I don’t know, so I advise you to save your precious time and see something worthwhile.
I don't understand all the rave reviews and comments on this film. What's his point? What should I laugh at? Someone might say, ‘You don’t understand because of the translation,’ but the original couldn’t make me laugh. Someone might say, ‘You don’t understand English humor,’ but Jeeves and Worcester, Monty Python, Dinner and Murder, I liked it. I have nothing to laugh at here.
Same thing with the plot. It accelerates very slowly, any action begins only with the second third of the film, and before that a very brilliant thought about how we all do not care about each other, how we are all selfish and in general we have purulent growths instead of souls. And not to say that there was something interesting, it was extremely difficult to sit down, all the time I wanted to be distracted.
The cat also cried, because he is not here. And I'll be ahead of you: a couple of zombies on the head? A couple of zombies hit on the head is a St. Petersburg showdown in the alley.
In the end, we get that the film is... not very good. You can bet 6/10 out of love for a zombie movie.
The English have always been known for their signature ironic humor, which they have cultivated for so many years and virtually every generation of local comedians boasts at least a few bright representatives of their genre.
At the beginning of the new century, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost came to the aid of Rowan Atkinson and the company, who created a successful trio of comedians, which is spoken of even now. And all because they are real talents who know how to entertain the audience with their style, findings and ability to find relevance in everything. The first film of the trinity was “Zombie named Sean”, whose title hides the truth about what will be in the plot.
In the center of the story is an ordinary supermarket seller Sean performed by Simon Pegg. Sean is used to his gray, monotonous life. In his spare time, he can sit for hours at the console, drink beer and generally not bother about anything. For similar classes spends his weekdays and a friend of Sean, old Ed (Nick Frost). They don’t want anything, even work. But it is these characters that will bring the action of the film to a rapid mode.
Once on the streets of the city begin to appear walking dead, that is, zombies. People are powerless against the monster crowd, and Sean and Ed need to act. To begin with, they want to get to Sean’s girlfriend (yes, he even has a girlfriend!), and then they plan to visit a bar where they think you can barricade yourself and wait out the Apocalypse. But everything goes in fact immediately not according to plan, otherwise it can not be. It makes us, the audience, more fun.
Even the director of the cult “Night of the Living Dead” George Romero said that zombies can be used as an allegory, with their help to ridicule the vices of our society. This is the same in their tape do Edgar Wright, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. The authors ridicule the main characters, show that they are actually dead, but not physically, but morally. And on the adventure they get into, the future of the guys depends, because since they live now, you just can’t live. Even criminal!
I was also pleased with the small role of Bill Nighy, who we know mostly from Pirates of the Caribbean, where he played Davy Jones. In general, Nahi appears in all the joint films of the trinity and I am very pleased to see that the younger generation never forgets the old guard, which is too early to retire.
“Zombie named Sean” is not just a great comedy, but an example of how you can reveal a stagnant genre, do something interesting with it and have fun without a trace. Look and you won't regret it. And those who have already seen, can easily reconsider.

'Zombie named Sean' - a beautiful parody of a zombie movie, which I personally have watched several times, each time getting pleasure from the film. This is the first film of the so-called ' Trilogy of three flavors Cornetto' from director Edgar Wright, and it definitely succeeded.
In the center of the story is Sean, a sales consultant in an electronics store whose life is a dull routine, so monotonous that even a trip to the nearest store is brought to automaticity. And the beginning of the zombie apocalypse our hero notices not immediately, and when the rebellious dead begin to storm his house, Sean wakes up unprecedented determination and makings of the leader.
' Zombie named Sean' a truly great comedy with a lot of black and not-so-humour, which is served in every possible way, through dialogue, through some funny, sometimes absurd scenes, even the staging and manner of shooting individual moments can cause a smile. The film is full of actually memorable episodes that can lift the mood even after watching when they pop up in memory.
But don’t think it’s just a comedy. 'Zombie component' here at level. Good makeup, torn limbs, the living dead, tearing the victim apart - zombies here, despite the comedic component, a very serious threat, and not just an object for ridicule (although such episodes are also enough).
Of course, it is impossible not to mention the screen duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who drag on themselves the rest, not particularly outstanding caste. Without their charisma and on-screen energy, the film would have looked much worse.
Do I recommend a Zombie named Sean & #39? Absolutely. This is one of the best film parody, fervent, really funny, perfectly shot. Team Wright-Pegg-Frost is the key to success, and the film would not have come out so posh if at least one of the links in this chain was missing. Mast watch.
A great parody of "children" Romero!
A zombie named Sean (Sean of the Living Dead, Sean vs. the Dead)
Sean's a loser. He's 29. He works as a salesman in a home appliance store. Sean constantly fights with his beloved girlfriend because of a close friend Ed (the same loser). Sean does not get along with his stepfather (the evil pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean 2). And there's talk on TV about some fallen satellite and infection. Sean's only delight is the local pub.
Do not write giant reviews and look carefully for the positive aspects of “Sean”. One important thing to say is that George Romero loved the movie. So much so that he invited the creators of “Sean” to his “Land of the Dead” (how lucky it was to meet the father of all the dead, Wright and Pegg almost fell out of their pants). You deserve it!
If the director Wright (I remind you, “Zombie named Sean” is Edgar’s second feature film) was able to reach Romero, then the movie automatically goes into the category – be sure to watch. I perfectly remember calling “Type of Cool Cops” Wright’s best movie (it is), but “Zombie by the Name of Sean” falls in love with plague heroes and cosmic pofigism.
That's ridiculous. Such an attitude towards the threat of the dead (in a good sense) is still to be sought. Even in the masterpiece of the first part of “The Return of the Living Dead”, hand on heart, took much more seriously, aha ha. Wright can already be given an Oscar for the opening credits, where ordinary people stand in line, and cashiers punch food in stores (to the plague music – la la la). Look at all these dull puppies, an irony of cosmic proportions.
What a living dead, but we ourselves have long since become. Routine. And it's just the first few minutes, and then it's sweeter. As for horror, there are luscious bloody moments, but I am damn sympathetic that Wright has stayed on the side of humor. He would have gone to hell, and he might have gone. A wonderful English sitcom (and the dead outside the window). To the collection!
P.S.
The second player comes into play! Aren't you going to work? The second player left the game.
I love when horror combines comedy. When you watch a scary movie, you want to laugh at the stupidity of the characters or the absurdity of events. And here - comedy - laugh! Everything is always funny!
The main characters do not immediately notice the threat - all people behave normally: they moan and hobble somewhere. Nothing like that. Until they start to bite each other. A bore consultant, a frivolous loboshaker, a tantrum, an abnormal couple - are they even able to survive?
There's a lot of stuff out there from George Romero's movies. If you’re familiar with Night of the Dead, you know who I’m talking about. This man created the image of zombies, which is now used everywhere. The film was inspired by his work.
But what I didn't like was the main thing about comedy: humor. Yes, there are funny moments, but a couple of jokes managed to spoil the impression.
A nice movie with a beer and a girl. Or a guy. Or a dog. It depends on your preferences.
Anyway, it's worth watching for the scene where zombies are beaten under Queen - Don't Stop Me Know.

"It's not funny. -- I'll stop doing it when you stop laughing."
These days, it’s almost impossible to come across a good comedy, as today’s humour has turned into toilet jokes. For this reason, you have to look for films of the past years, one of them is Sean of the Dead, not Zombie named Sean. Now I will try to write a decent review of this good Briton.
As we see in the description, this work mixes horror and comedy genres. And you know what? What I have seen fits almost perfectly into this description. For horror, the most important thing is the atmosphere, without it. For comedy, the most important thing is humor, but decent humor, not toiletry. The components of the atmosphere are the plot and soundtrack, and for comedy acting, which is also important for horror. Among other things, for the subgenre of post-apocalypse and zombie apocalypse, it is very important to show the scale of the entire epidemic or cataclysm.
Sean, whose life is no better than Zombie, one day together with his friend learn that the zombie apocalypse has begun. They come up with a plan to save everyone who is so dear to them and begin its execution. From myself, I want to say the story is very interesting, has a logical structure. Tick is 100%, non-logical moments are 100%, but because of them the general impression does not spoil. We'll talk about why later. Also an interesting ending, not quite a happy ending, but also a far cry from the sad end. Overall, the plot is very interesting, but not the strongest I have seen.
Acting: This criterion saves the shortcomings of the previous one. The actors fully joined the role, and played hurrah. I also really liked that the characters did not say that personalities, but their images were fully revealed. It was clear what they were, what they went through, what was good and bad in their lives, which is very important. Because thanks to this, the characters are not empty, that is, not talking scenery, but individuals who are interesting to watch. In addition, the emotional component is at a high level, you believe them, and you do not need more. As for the names, they are not very famous, but despite this, they played well. I want to start by highlighting Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who played Sean and Ed. Two inseparable couples in the world of cinema. Together they starred in such films as “Typical Cool Cops”, “The Man Who Wanted to Be Sean”, “Merry Pete”, “Danger! 50,000 Zombie!” and more. Many of the films were directed by Edgar Wright. I also want to highlight Peter Serafinovich, who played the role of Pete. He also starred with the previous three, and is known for his role in Guardians of the Galaxy. Besides them, I really liked Kate Ashfield (" United, Munich tragedy), who played the role of Liz. She had a very attractive appearance. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to see it through. Everyone else has done well too. About each write do not allow the rules of “Kinopoisk”.
Soundtrack: The music is not memorable. Despite a few tracks coming to mind, for example, "Meltdown" - Ash or "Ghost Town" - The specials with "You're My Best Friend" - Queen. Although I’m not a rock lover in any form, here everything sounded right to the place, coincided with what was happening. The selection of Dan Mudford and Pete Woodhead came out well.
Atmosphere, scale and humor: I can't call the humor in "Zombie Sean" the best I've heard. Here you know the mix of toilet humor and classic. But there's only a couple of things about the toilet, which is when Ed makes some noises to make Sean laugh. And so the humor is kind, not perverse. Where I once again understand that it is not the jokes themselves that decide, but the people from whose mouth these jokes are pronounced. The very actions of the same Ed, in the same pub, are already ridiculous. Because heroes are made for this genre. I didn't really see the scale either. In "28 Days Later" and "28 Weeks Later," the UK was much better, they're not even comparable. Nevertheless, interest is not lost. But, of course, all this greatly negatively affects the atmosphere, which can be said not.
Thus, “Zombie named Sean”, and in a more correct translation “Sean of the Dead” is a worthy representative of the horror genre, and even more of the comedy genre. This film by Edgar Wright shows how important acting is. Otherwise, if the actors were like Planet of Fear or Pet Cemetery, the movie would be very bad. This work may interest you with a good plot, soundtrack, humor, and especially acting. I recommend watching it myself for the second or third time. The budget of the film was a pitiful $5,192,784, and paid for itself by $24,814,062, which is quite decent, in relation to such a budget.

I love satire in horror, even if the satire is more than the horrors themselves and thus the horrors are transformed more into comedy than into horrors, but I also do not mind and enjoy such a picture. In this case, that's what happened. There were more jokes than scary moments. And it wasn't scary at all. The film is one hundred percent cruel comedy. But the humor was not always good, and the actors limped, the plot sometimes sagged, but in general it turned out not bad.
From the very beginning, we are introduced to the couple and their friends. We are informed that the couple are going through difficult moments and their relationship is almost destroyed. But suddenly comes the apocalypse, and the glorious hero Sean rushes to the aid of his family and the very girl who abandoned him. Along the way, he captures his best friend, who irritated me unrealistically, in principle, as well as everyone around, except Shawn, and friends of his girlfriend Liz.
A lot, a lot of humor and jokes. There are so many funny moments where there are no words. I really liked that the picture reflected our current mood and state. We are all mired in business, work, worries, drunkenness, partying, that it seems that we and the end of the world can miss. Which is exactly what happened to Sean and his friend. It was very funny!
There was a lot of humor, but about fifty percent of the jokes I didn’t understand. I understood them, but I wasn’t laughing at all, they looked stupid. But what to say... it's English humor and for me it's always been far away. In any case, the remaining half of jokes and funny events, more than compensated for this misunderstanding.
Speaking of actors, it was a pleasure to see Penelope Wilton (Downtown Abbey, Marigold Hotel) and her Mary Gold Hotel co-star Bilai Nyi. They're cool, I love them. Simon Pegg and Kate Ashvild perfectly coped with their roles, they are interesting, voluminous, bright. The rest of us are kind of weird. Maybe it’s not their acting skills, but the characters themselves. For the most part, I didn’t like them or annoyed them. This asshole is Sean's best friend, so why love him? These boring friends of Liz...
The film is not bad, you can laugh. The plot is funny, interesting, events develop in different locations. The cast of fifty-fifty, someone liked, someone very annoying. In general, the film was not bad, I recommend watching, but do not count on the masterpiece. Yet The Walking Dead did its job and spoiled the viewer with quality, drama and actors.
Lucky losers Losers, oddly enough, sometimes have the most luck. Strangely, it works: you do not notice the zombie apocalypse, but you slip out of the hands of the walking dead at the last minute. But more successful acquaintances, who have taken place in life and who are never overtaken by really serious problems, are less fortunate in such a situation. God knows why. In general, this is not so much a zombie movie as a film about the complex relationship of the loser with the people around him. The main character Sean, in fact, is not such a hero. Normally, isn't it? Normally, the common man takes on the responsibilities of a "chela who tries to get everyone out" - and really pulls it out. Now he is a hero, everyone is happy, the lady of the heart kisses the savior. It's not like that. A loser isn’t a way of life, it’s deep down, and it’s no wonder Sean is a loser. But that's what attracts him. A well-drawn image of a loser always simultaneously makes the viewer laugh, and causes sympathy and warmth for the character. You're worried about Sean until the end. It’s not just the central character that’s so bright. Each hero has his own character and face. Yvonne is a mysterious character who appears when and where she is not what you least expect, but not at all. She's a minimum. But Jessica Hines played her character in such a way that the viewer of those several of her RELATEDS in the film understood her character and even guessed (at least approximately) who she is Sean. Perhaps the only gray and trivial character is the former, then not the former girlfriend of the main character. The film is backed up by great unexpected humor. This is a direct outlet for those who were insulted by the stupid, similar and predictable gags from American comedies. In “Zombie named Sean” its humor, it is contained in the very atmosphere of the film, it unobtrusively sneaks into the dialogue. It is not built on absurdities and embarrassments, and therefore no one in the film seems more stupid than he really is. This is the humor that causes not so much laughter as a pleasant relaxation on the heart and a slight tingling in the solar plexus. Despite all the cruelty, the film is kind and cozy. In addition, it stands out favorably in the genre, to which interest returned in the mid-2000s. Definitely should remain in the history of the zombie genre. 8 out of 10 Original
If the series "Foolish" has gained popularity only in its homeland, the UK, after the release on the wide screens of the film with a difficult to translate "phonetic" name "Shaun of the Dead", referring to the franchise of George Romero and turned in the domestic box office in "Zombie named Sean", the name of Edgar Wright has already interested many on the other side of the "foggy Albion". This film is also the first of the so-called trilogy "Three tastes of Cornetto", which in addition to it, will include, shot later "Type Cool Cops" and "Armageddian". Being a big fan of the Romer franchise and seeing an English-language and eloquent title on the cover of the DVD, I just couldn’t pass by. Here I am lucky to count in one (judging by some reviews of a negative kind). From the very first viewing, I did not read the description of the film, but based on the title and rather intuitively realized that I had to deal with a parody and the first scenes immediately consolidated this belief in me.
I will say right away – this was my first seen parody on the topic of “zombies” (the same “Return of the Living Dead”, which came out earlier somehow passed by me, and “Welcome to Zombieland” was not even in the project) and so you can imagine all my excitement when I watched “Zombie named Sean” for the first time. It was something really new and fresh for me, both in terms of extraordinary directing, and script and story moves. And many comedic moments, such as the "torturing" (from the point of view of the vinylomaniac, which I myself am) the choice of records and the subsequent hurling them at zombies, a photo to remember with the accomplice "drunken girl", all the rotten nature of which will then be revealed and can be seen in a literal sense through) or an epic episode when the main characters "mowing" under the zombie forever entered my memory. It is a pity that these moments were not so much and they were diluted with unhurried actions and rather boring conversations, although not devoid of a certain meaning. For example, about “eating” everything and all life, merciless everyday and routine, turning us into “zombies”, for many years performing the same usual and template actions and functions. “Simon Pegg – Nick Frost” also played an important role in improving my personal rating of this film. While Sean is not one of my favorite movies, it is possible to revisit it once a year without any rejection of perception.
A romantic comedy about zombies. A wonderful union of actors Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright. Such films without miss will appeal to many. Regarding... Great English atmosphere. From the first shots, Britain catches your eye and operates in every tradition. The life of residents, working days, light melodrama and pubs. Lots of pubs.
Under this cover hides the main character, who has a “black stripe” in life. When watching, the viewer does not believe in what is happening, it hurts too much. But it's fun, and the extraordinary camera work that's in circle motion, the director's thing, allows you to show a lot of important things even in a small episode. And now zombies... This is where the laughter and fun begin. Scary? Not much. All the same English humor, all the same pubs, only zombies added. What do you get from them? Under the action, which is enough here, there is a melodrama. Awareness of human qualities and team cohesion like never before, by the way, when the zombie apocalypse looms.
Despite the advantages, this kind of comedy will be appreciated by few. Excellent and selective, not dirty, without toilet humor. If some viewers will not like this, then there is a whole film company Enjoy Movies for you, so that you do not feel deprived.
British director and screenwriter Edgar Wright has long gained a reputation as one of the most talented and original authors in his homeland. A great popularity brought him a trilogy of films "Blood and Ice Cream". This is a series of films that are not related in the plot, but all three involve the same actors, but they play different characters. Each film is essentially a parody of a certain theme. The film received wide recognition and received many positive reviews. Even Quentin Tarantino himself included the tape in his list of the twenty best films since 1992.
Before us is an amazing symbiosis of a horror film about zombies and a parody comedy. The film is inspired by the work of the legendary George Romero, the father of zombie horror in its current form. References to classic paintings and other hits of the past years are visible to the naked eye. Even the name in the original sounds like "Sean of the Living Dead", which echoes the name of the cult and revolutionary picture George Romero "Night of the Living Dead". But this is not a typical parody, but an author’s tape with an original concept. As a result, a funny and fascinating movie came out, where the usual clichés and cliches are beaten with a favorable side for the director. One walk of the dead deserves applause.
The main advantages of the film are perfectly staged and worked out dialogues filled with excellent black humor. Funny jokes will not get bored throughout the viewing. The film has some remarkable and extremely inventive directorial finds. For example, the opposition of images of ordinary people and the living dead, both in behavior and external factors, when the differences between them are erased and it becomes very difficult to distinguish one from another. The finale was unexpected and somewhat dramatic. The film also provides some food for the mind. Sometimes there were really sagging episodes and I sometimes missed them.
The director managed to completely recreate the atmosphere of good old England. It is not for nothing that the main refuge of the heroes becomes a beer pub, a necessary attribute of all English cities and other settlements. And to convey the national spirit and local flavor, the authors resort to music. Edgar Wright is known for his passion for music. A beautiful soundtrack perfectly complements what is happening on the screen. One song by the band Queen "Don't Stop Me Now" is worth what.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost played brilliantly. Both frankly crooked in the frame, but do it in such a way that it is simply impossible not to smile. Both have a unique natural talent for acting in the role of comedians and use it perfectly. They don’t even play, but live their own lives for a hundred minutes of screen time. In general, I really liked the work.
A zombie named Sean is not just a parody of cult zombie movies, but an amazing rethinking of the original stories about the living dead. This is a comedic horror, but very non-trivial and original. Beautiful actors, a dynamic and exciting plot, thoughtful dialogues, corporate English humor, as well as an excellent soundtrack make the picture a wonderful option for viewing.

Horror comedies are not a genre that you want to praise. Of course, there is a certain number of films of this genre, which can be called at least stand out. Same with today's patient. Zombie named Sean, or Sean of the Living Dead is quite a good entertainment, which is pleasant to watch and wonder at various funny features. It lacks original ideas, but this is compensated by British humor, which, as they say, is not up to colic, but amusing as it should be. " Hollywood" in the dialogues is not felt, and therefore, from the habit you begin to be surprised by some seemingly simple little things like individual replicas of heroes, which in American cinema would sound pathetic, and assertiveness or something.
The pleasing details are the allegories and parallels drawn in the film - like comparing our society to these very living dead, delving into the life of Sean, who endures all this routine, and the arrival of zombies makes his life brighter and more diverse, which is quite amusing. At the same time, the picture literally becomes brighter and more colorful, with the appearance of the dead, which of course can only be a personal perception (it is time to appear to the optometrist).
Not wanting to say a new word in the genre of zombie-movie, Edgar Wright, however, shows something funny and thereby kills the desire to start picking on some flaws, which in serious horror would look ridiculous, and here to pay attention to them not hunting, and besides – provided that this is the same comedy, you can forgive some miscalculations, possibly made intentionally.
The tape will not be appreciated by everyone. Reviews on various sites are not all enthusiastic, but it is only in Russia, because abroad Zombie named Sean is considered almost cult. And people who write that the film is boring - surely ate thoughtless tasty things in the likeness of the Resident Evil and War of the Worlds z and want only action and cool rockers or sexy-chik with machine guns on the margin, shooting off the "zombaks" heads when really skillfully made pictures pass by such a viewer.
A non-trivial comedy about a man (although he is 29 years old, he looks very adult), who even before the epidemic was like a zombie (zombie?!) with his same daily routine: house-work-pub. The classic character of all comedies is a humble loser who turns out to be a good guy, capable of acting.
From the very first frames, the picture catches a kind of presentation with eccentric humor. Then the film goes in a normal way, but the bait in the form of an interesting introduction has already worked, so watch. When peculiar and not too intellectual jokes begin to annoy, action finally begins.
I, of course, differently imagine films of the genre of “black comedy”, but these are the British, they have their own humor, even in the title in the original there is a play on words. And yes, where in a British film without Martin Freeman? However, the scene where live people began to portray zombies (although no, the characters did not want to use the word ... ay, okay) was predictable, but very fun.
Is it possible to take something out of this movie for yourself? Yeah. You can turn a man into a man if you give him the right motivation. The actors perfectly showed the characters, everyone was convincing in his image, it was interesting to watch everyone.
In general, it can be said that the film is different from other zombie movies (again that word!), in some ways breaks the pattern, although it is loudly said. And Queen songs, added at the climax moments, any picture add entertainment and adjust to the desired atmosphere. And yet – a one-time movie, just ventilate your head after a hard day.

My withdrawal will contain spoilers, so I recommend first of all to watch the film and then to subject it to analysis and criticism.
There are a lot of zombie movies. Too many. And almost all of them are alike. A virus appears, millions of people die, and then rise in the form of the living dead. A group is formed, usually of several healthy people, and we watch them try to save their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
In Zombie Named Sean, the situation is similar, but how it is presented! As Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg tell and show us. The film, unlike all other films, says this from the first scene. It’s not just that it’s a comedy.
Scene one - Sean wakes up to go to the room, where the shooting takes place. The camera goes up showing Sean walking first, and towards the end of the take we see his face. The scene is accompanied by yawns of the main character, trying to convince the viewer (at the beginning of the scene) that the focus is “zombies”, and that the sounds we hear are not yawns, but crumbs, mouses, moans, characteristic of zombies, and after the camera rises to the face of the main character, we understand that this is a person. I love this opening scene very much, for the way it is staged and played, and for having an interesting thought in it. The idea is that most of us are zombies. We are living and not living at the same time. We just unconsciously make useless movements and do not move from a dead point, but only go on an inclined to the bottom. I'm sorry, I made a mistake, this scene comes after the movie's title scene. But not the point.
Intro. No less cool. To cheerful, good music, the boy kicks the ball, the cashier Mary punches the merchandise (and it is she who sneaks into Sean's yard), And my favorite scene in Intro is a crowd of young people heading towards the camera, resembling a zombie crowd. At that moment I fell in love with this movie.
And then it was better. Complete delight with the brilliantly written script, in which there is nothing accidental. There are many references to other scenes of the same film. Almost every phrase in the dialogue is not accidental and in one way or another will affect the development of the plot and characters of the characters. For example, Sean tells Pete to get behind Ed, it was in a scene at Sean's house. Towards the end of the film, when Pete bites Ed, Sean also yells at Pete, “I told you to leave him alone!” Such plot twists are pleasantly taken by surprise. And there's a lot of them in Wright's movies. A lot of positive experiences. The whole film from beginning to end does not let go, and makes you enjoy the script, directing, acting. I liked Nick Frost’s performance the most. The scene where Sean kills Mary is worth it. At this point, Nick reveals his character even more. We see that Ed is not stunned, his face almost does not express feelings and says a lot about it. What Ed is "fucking" about, how he reacts poorly to what is happening, and how he does not depend on the world around him, but lives in his own world - the world of video games, weed, and beer. An actor is a great talent. Simon's performance is also good. I especially like the scene after a virus has swept the city, and Sean goes to the store on his usual way. Miraculously, he does not fall into the hands of zombies. At the beginning of the film, we already see a similar scene with the same camera movement (the camera follows the hero). Now the city is changing, and Sean is doing the same thing as usual. This once again emphasizes that Sean does not change his habits, and without any messages, this scene is gorgeous. And such juicy scenes Edgar Wright masterfully fills the film.
And editing! The whole trilogy of “blood and ice cream” is perfectly mounted. Edgar can show more in 3 seconds than the rest in 5 minutes. It looks very original.
And beautiful transitions from stage to stage add dynamics, and emphasize the environment of the characters.
In general, the film looks easy, and is perfect for watching with friends, girlfriend, family, and for single viewing.
Unique English humor, slightly diluted with drama.
You’ll hear the movie “Don’t Stop Me Now,” so wait for the spectacles.
The Cornetto Trilogy. Part one, basic, old according to the year of release. After an hour and a half of watching "A Zombie Named Sean" I realized one important axiom: you hear in any film "Don't Stop Me Now", then wait for the spectacle. In the notorious "Hardcore" the main character under the legendary song scattered the army of the main villain, which is not done with it. In the famous TV show Jimmy Fallon there is a rubric Lip Sync Battle, in which famous celebrities give a ignition performance.
In my opinion, the best performance belongs to Paul Rudd, who is remembered more because of the song of the band Queen. As you might have guessed, there’s also a scene in Edgar Wright’s film framed by Freddie Mercury’s gorgeous voice urging him not to stop. I couldn't stop laughing. Absurdity and naivety of the scene fights hard. And it is in such a place of the script that after just a funny first half, the film fascinates one hundred percent.
It was only after the final credits that I realised how ridiculous and insane the comedy was created by the British Troublemakers. The defining moment was when Shawn's company collided with his girlfriend's company, Yvonne. If the girl and the brethren were heading towards real salvation, then Shawn led his own to the Winchester pub. To the pub when the streets were flooded with dead people! Of course, not for a drink, but for a gun hanging over the bar. No, you can have a drink in between. How to drink!
The pub is not as safe as the supermarket featured in Dawn of the Dead. Zack Snyder the same year. Therefore, to hope for reasonable salvation is too foolish. But who cares if for the sake of fun and the scene with billiard cues better monastery not to find. I would like to mention the beautiful long door-to-door plan, when Shawn goes to the store to buy cola and cornetto and returns home. It describes the “blindness” of a man.
Once again I was amazed by the game of Simon Pegg. Expecting to see in the famous trilogy of a typical comedian, the viewer will have to see the excellent acting abilities of the British. Brilliantly complements it Nick Frost, resembling a stupid Winnie the Pooh without censorship in words. The more surprising his reincarnation in "Armageddian"! Three times in "Cornetto" appears and Rafe Spall, which in his youth did not look very good. I think about "Zombie named Sean" and remember the synchronous cue kicks on the dead man. That's the fiction!
In an interview, Simon Pegg acknowledged the importance of three projects. In other words, they are very important in his life. Covering a whole 9 years trilogy "Cornetto" gave the world a sweet couple of characters, funny roles of famous and not very British, crazy musical action films, three main varieties of the famous brand of ice cream, dramatic images of Simon Pegg. "Shaun of the Dead", "Hot Fuzz", "The World's End" - modern folk comedies of subjects Great Britain
A Zombie Named Sean (Edgar Wright, 2004)
I don’t remember what made me watch this movie, but I have no regrets. I had a good laugh! This is a beautiful comedy, shot with taste, with intelligence, and this is not so common.
The cast was very pleased. Simon Pegg, unfortunately, I have not seen much before, only in third-rate roles somewhere. But now there will be a reason to watch it again - charmingly played! I can not say anything about female roles, I saw these actresses for the first time, but Dylan Moran and Nick Frost learned, of course, and she was happy with their heroes. However, Moran’s role here is a little “not his”, I think it is better than in “Black’s Bookstore” he will not play anywhere.
The story itself is typical English humor! It smelled like family. Hypertrophic English politeness, which is especially pronounced in the behavior of the mother of the hero - very funny! And a person who walks the same route every day and does not notice zombies walking around is brilliant! But the day before he all saw some strangeness on every corner, which is perfectly conveyed by sound.
Actually, it's a beautiful sound. Such juicy and bright effects that zombies produce, all these crunches and chuckles are charming. But that's not the fun part. Much cooler is how the voice-over sound of news is used here, which is the background of almost the entire first half of the film, warning the hero of the upcoming cataclysm, but which he does not notice at point-blank range. But the viewer notices and it's funny. And the scenes for the songs are a separate high for an audience like me!

The best to me still seems "Armageddian" - he is one of the three films claiming philosophical content. "Type of cool cops", despite the fact that this film is plot overloaded and too "sophisticated", still looks good - like the apotheosis of paradoxical English humor. "Zombie named Sean" (or, more correctly, "Sean of the Dead" - again the distributors decided that our viewer is stupid and does not understand puns) seems to claim some satiricality. But this satirical moment the filmmakers, alas, to the end failed to realize. There is one very lucky episode, at the very beginning of the disaster - but then everything slides into a parody of zombie horror. Or rather, in the usual zombie horror, but with black humor (which is not bad) and ridiculous characters, constantly, in the face of a terrible death, clarifying relationships (which is not good). So the seemingly sticking idea of “one day everyone will turn into zombies, and we with our grueling work and sleepy home routine will not notice it”, I believe, has not been fully realized. But still the film is perfectly shot - and Simon Pegg with Nick Frost, as always, annealed, and the cameramen are good, well, and the director, of course. But it’s still good that I started watching the trilogy not from this film. The result: a good fusion of English humor and zombie horror. But it could be better, the semantic depth of the film, even by the standards of comedy, is lacking. In general, it is quite worth watching an entertaining movie. 8 out of 10 Original
It just so happened that before watching this film, I watched the work of the same author (Edgar Wright) – “Scott Pilgrim Against Everyone”. The film came out fun, cheerful comedy with great jokes and gags, with references to popular culture and a good soundtrack. I immediately included this film in my favorite movies. Of course, after Scott Pilgrim, I decided to look at other works by Maestro Wright. And then I saw this movie, "Zombie Named Sean." It seems that the ratings were good, and the reviews were written in the style of “wild cool comedy, look – you will not regret!”. Anyway, I did watch it.
What did I expect to see? Funny, absurd and dynamic black comedy with good acting work and cool dialogue. What did I see? Dull, uninteresting, not funny and dull spectacle. I only smiled twice in the whole movie (and barely laughed). I’ve been waiting for the whole movie to start the Wright I saw in Pilgrim. I haven't waited.
I don't argue that it's okay to experiment with genres, but here it looks so ridiculous and disgusting that you can't. Is that humor? Not funny for humor. Is that a horror movie? Why would a horror movie want to make humor? Is that absurd? Absolutely not, because it is absurd to watch fun, and here you can fall asleep from the boredom of what is happening.
I get thrown with rotten tomatoes and rotten eggs, but I really didn’t like this movie. Maybe the translation is bad. Maybe I don't understand British jokes. Maybe I have a kind of sense of humor. Maybe that, maybe that. But the fact that I didn’t like this movie is a fact and I can’t do anything about it. I wasn’t disappointed in Edgar Wright – he’s already proven he can make a good movie whenever he wants. However, in relation to this film, there is only one phrase: it did not work.

A zombie named Sean is a real black comedy. Little-known at the time director Edgar Wright managed to shoot a perfectly crazy comedy, without going into quite frank nonsense. And the small budget of the film, oddly enough, only helps in creating this indescribable atmosphere.
The plot of the film revolves around an ordinary loser named Sean, who at the time of the zombie apocalypse overpowered himself and began to commit idiotic-heroic acts. Throwing heroes of the film on the infected city is filled with sarcastic dialogue and crazy action scenes.
The film is an example of true English humor. The cynical attitude of the heroes to each other, the abundance of profanity and of course branded.
The absurdity of what is happening.
Simon Pegg, who plays the role of Shawn, is incomparable. His extremely lively facial expressions perfectly convey the full degree of shock of the hero from what is happening. The character Nick Frost on the contrary is a sample of simply unearthly calm. Kate Ashfield and Lucy Davis managed to quite reliably parody the traditional heroines of the genre of blondes.
As a result, we get a very high-quality English comedy, on a popular zombie theme at the moment. Looking for a deeper meaning in it is stupid. But to watch for the sake of jokes and acting is still worth it.

The picture “Zombie named Sean” is another bright representative of the kin, which is able to correctly correlate both a very remarkable peculiar British humor, and incredibly high-quality thrash with a bit of drama.
In short, the picture was delighted. Sometimes you go from laughing to worrying and then back. And you worry, of course, for the main characters, although, it would seem, why do this, because only their own stupidity is to blame for everything, which is not inherent in real life. But no, acting takes its toll. Which, of course, is a huge plus.
In general, if we talk about the acting talent of the characters, then he seems to be balancing on the verge of complete immersion in the role and refusal to transfer into the image of the actor. In short, it creates its own charm, which is very few places to see.
The film is bright, action-packed, funny, interesting, thrashy and even to some extent dramatic - the last scenes with my mother and Eddie touched me to the core - due to such an unusual mix that Edward Wright likes to create, and I want to recommend this creation to everyone. And especially for lovers of the subject of Zombie in general, for an unusual look at something as new as the living dead, a very remarkable phenomenon that should not be missed.
Of course, I understand that the film is over the top ten, but the special style of directing and the dynamics of the plot will always be in vogue. So be sure to see a Zombie Named Sean if you haven’t already.
P.S. For the second appearance of Martin Freeman, I want to say a special thank you to the creators. Thank you for your attention =
A zombie named Sean is considered one of the best zombie movies to me. A film that surprised me with humor, actors, plot and more. So what is a zombie named Sean? This is an interesting film, unusual. It is not about the chaos that was happening in the city, but about the relationships of people in this chaos. There is no indiscriminate slaughter, liters of blood, meat. I was very happy about that! In this film, the behavior of people is not at all like in any horror film. The film was made in Britain and you can see it from the first minute. This is a huge plus for me too!
Humor is like a balm to my soul. Ilm is full of subtle English humor, which, unfortunately, not everyone understands. It is created, so to speak, for cinema gourmets who understand and distinguish teenage jokes from “London” humor.
The acting of the actors is very good, especially Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. This couple is for me the best duet in all comedy films. They can always cheer me up.
The film's director Edgard Wright conveyed the atmosphere of chaos well. Despite the comedy, in some moments, keep the film in suspense. The zombie makeup for 2004 is great, which certainly affects perception. The atmosphere, smoothly floating storyline - all this creates a pleasant impression.
Despite the small budget, a Zombie named Sean has become the benchmark of British comedies for me. Zombie lovers should watch themes. If you want to cheer yourself up, watch this movie. You won't regret it!!
“Nothing will wake the boy up.”
The thunder cannot wake a man up.
The boy will no longer live.
He doesn't know what it is to live.
I don't even know where to start... I'll start over. So we're used to zombie movies in two ways. The first is horror, the second is comedy, sometimes you get something mixed, but there is a lot of romance everywhere, well, almost everywhere. Why? Because zombie movies are a huge stadium for acting out touching scenes and heroism.
In all the horror, when the characters (well, it always happens) initially do not know what happened and what to do, there are always such characters.
1. The one who takes everything into his own hands and becomes the main (soul of the company);
2. The one who constantly does something with which others disagree and pulls them to the bottom with him, most likely he infuriates all the spectators and against the background all the others seem much better, often panics (loser);
3. A couple in love (continuers of the human race and the last hope). There are two options: either one dies and the other suffers, or both survive. Well, it can not be so that they both die, and if they can, then they usually drag to the last.
4. A child, adolescent, elderly person or pet, in general, a defenseless creature (object of special sympathy of the viewer);
5. Someone is terribly intelligent (the brain of the company), but more often than not this is 1 and it is.
6. Someone who first dislikes and then becomes a favorite character (from bad guy to good guy). Or vice versa (from good to bad).
Of course, all these traits are crossed in different characters depending on the genre, the cast and, in fact, the script, but about like this. At certain moments, the viewer is pressured to pity, at certain times - they say "Look, baby, how cool he is, he is the savior of the whole film", and at the end usually a happy ending against the background of the universal rout;
7. Those who survived by accident and only interfere in the frame.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Sean - 1 and part 3. Liz (Spohn's girl) - the second part 3. Ed (Sean's friend) - 2, 7. Pete (something like Sean's buddy) -
"Barbara" (Sean's mother) - 2 and it is this number 4 as an elderly person. Philippe (Sean's stepfather) - 2, 4, 6.
Diana and David are 2, 3 and 7 because we already have a couple in love.
Our whole motley group unites thanks to Sean, whom half of them quietly hate (or dislike) for certain reasons, revealed to us one by one.
Sean himself is not a stereotypical macho hero who wants to save everyone. Yes, he wants to save everyone, but he has no special skills of fighting, shooting, any other than technical, no model appearance (which was happy, because the gloss of handsome Hollywood is quite tired). His life isn’t much different than that of a zombie, but it’s not that he cares about it, but rather a beer can and a sofa are all he needs. It's surrounded by similar specimens. And when that day Z comes, it's just not noticed in the first place, not a reason to think, huh? The hero is especially sympathetic to me, because if you imagine such a situation in real life, I would probably be either in his place or in the place of zombies. This is not a film where all the characters get the first time and bravely cover for others, it has, oddly enough for comedy - horror, vitality. Heroes repeatedly miss goals, but try to come up with something, not as geniuses, but as ordinary people. It is such heroes that you want to empathize and it is in their place that you can really imagine yourself.
I enjoyed the unobtrusive British humor (as much as possible for black comedy). I won’t say there’s any action, but that’s what I needed! Play + minimum of special effects = success. Maybe I wanted more jokes, for this I shoot 1 point, but without them the film looks very good.

Before watching the movie, I knew I would like it. I don't know why. You can call it flair, autosuggestion or whatever, but the movie did not disappoint me, but, on the contrary, brought a lot of positive emotions.
Again a deadly virus, again a handful of people looking for a way to salvation. It would seem a banal storyline, but this was not the case. This zombie is action, with a great taste of comedy. Such films in our time are rare, combining these two completely inappropriate genres. But "A Zombie Named Sean" is a prime example of what experimental cinema is possible. After the directors have tasted what a movie is popular among viewers, they create new, similar films, for example, after 5 years of "Welcome to Zombieland" and after 9 "Warm Our Bodies". I believe that the founder of this unique genre is “Shaun of the Dead”.
It is also noteworthy that the film was shot in England. To be honest, terribly tired of apocalypse of this kind filmed in America. The monotonous landscapes of New York or Los Angeles filled the cinema. Here is a typical England, with its cozy courtyards and beautiful streets. This cannot be ignored.
Humor is one of the highlights of the film. Many people will say that jokes are not funny and childish. Well, that's far from true. The film is full of subtle English humor, which, unfortunately, not everyone understands. It is created, so to speak, for cinema gourmets who understand and distinguish teenage jokes from “London” humor.
Acting play. I was thrilled to see Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in the first few minutes. This purely English duo is familiar to me from the films “Typical Cool Cops” and “Sex: Secret Material”. Wherever there is this killer deuce, a lot of laughter and good mood. The performance of these actors in “Zombie named Sean” is simply magnificent. It's like they're made to play together. The two comedians complement each other perfectly on screen, doing it so harmoniously that it seems as if they were born for it. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have long been the standard of quality English cinema.
Where did Ed learn to shoot?
- He once shot his sister in the leg.
The film's director Edgard Wright conveyed the atmosphere of chaos well. Despite the comedy, in some moments, keep the film in suspense. The zombie makeup for 2004 is great, which certainly affects perception. The atmosphere, the smoothly floating storyline - all this creates a pleasant impression. And the scene to the Queen song "Don't Stop Me Now" is just perfect. “Zombie named Sean” deserves the title of “best” in its genre.
