Emily captures not only Paris, but also the heart of the inhabitants with her ease and sincerity of behavior.
Great game, charismatic heroes, somewhat banal personal stories, but all this is smoothed out by the beautiful views of Paris, the bright world of advertising and successful jokes, the meaning of which is not worth thinking about.
There is a drift towards feminism and tolerance for same-sex relationships, but to judge America for being America is at least foolish.
I learned about the series from a curator with whom I interacted on marketing and advertising. It was a difficult and boring period in mastering new marketing tricks, and I asked for something fun to increase the motivation for advertising.
From the list of the top 5 best TV series and films for the marketer in the end settled on “Emily”.
The choice in her favor was formed primarily due to compact timing.
Yes, the case where the meter plays a role. At the end of the working day, the idea of watching a film lasting 120 minutes is immediately rejected, without reaching the zone of “think about it.”
A long meter calls to sleep immediately, without looking at what goes after opening and 10 minutes of beautiful views in the spirit of introdactary of all serious films, and here - 25-30 minutes series.
Not too time consuming, well, I decided to try. And I got sucked in.
Yes, I sinned by watching 2 episodes at once, but what to do if it is high, easy and time passes quickly.
In the series, everything catches the eye: from what Emily has on her feet to what a divine Paris with its small streets and delicious wine.
Speaking of wine. Careful! The series extolls this harmful drink on the pedestal of hedonists so that it is impossible to include the series without a glass of red. It's kind of 'not comilfo'.
Love, Paris, fashion images, creative ideas and the desire to develop into the best version of yourself, struggling with their own weaknesses - it's all about 'Emily'.
The story of a young and stupid American woman is an attempt to somehow replicate the success of Sex and the City. At first, the series can attract colorful costumes and a Parisian fleur, but only for a couple of episodes of the first season.
The characters are flat and wooden, the plot is predictable. Only the locations and outfits please me, I looked at them with pleasure. The love triangle is very bad, relationships sucked out of a finger, the stories of the characters are completely undisclosed.
The main character is completely unrealistic - too stupid, completely unattractive to the position she occupies, without charisma, completely the same in all situations, and in addition with nothing secured luck.
Even such a good location - Paris - is not well shown. To understand the difference, watch Killing Eve, when the main character is in Paris, this is the tower.
Emily does not change, remaining a stereotyped, always smiling and having nothing in her head. The heroine is certainly young and beautiful, but these are all her virtues. She clearly lacks charm and talent.
It is worth watching only for the visual part and you can not turn on the sound.
It’s a story for those who want to dream a little.
Everything literally happens in a dream. I’m not an expert in the film industry, but plot twists are banal, conversations are meaningless and superficial. Still infuriates the raggedness of phrases, the general understatement. Like a dream, there's nothing to think about. Pictures change, Emily tears up and rushes at work, she manages everything one or two times. We do not see her feelings, emotions, can not understand what she thinks about situations, just zero reflection. I've already watched it almost to the end of Season 2, but I've only gotten a couple of places in Paris that want to visit and that's it. I'm sure I'll see to the end and I won't even remember anything. Emily doesn’t seem to be a good friend, a good mistress, or a responsible employee, some caricature character. You really can't. A cartoon series. I've seen a series about escorts before, and there's a lot to discuss, the characters' motives, their behavior. These are comics with beautiful pictures. Emily goes to work, Emily at the reception, Emily at the chateau, Emily on a boat down the Seine. You can watch if you want to escape from the gray reality, immerse yourself in the world of luxury, famous people. More less interesting characters are Sylvie, an older boss who has natural magnetism, knows how to enjoy life, but we learn little about her. Mindy’s girlfriend looks a little more playful, but she has a more dramatic role, she can’t find a normal job, but wants to fulfill her dream. Emily is absolutely not remembered, the feeling that she does everything only for the sake of her career, in general, could be more interesting to twist. Even when she catches up with men, or she's the first one to kiss them, it looks naive, stupid. In general, if there are motives for her behavior, they are not disclosed.
It gets worse and worse every season. In my opinion, I should have stopped for the first season. At least there was freshness + conflict of American and French views and mentalities. And then there was the trampling in place.
Emily is virtually unchanged throughout the series, as shallow and not far away. She is like a doll who has no sincere emotions and feelings and completely lacks serious thoughts. I'm not talking about her sleeping with everyone, even a minor. Maybe you should be more discreet in relationships? The main topic for conversations with the main character is work and sex, and the discussion of others. There is nothing more to talk about with her, although her friends are just as uninteresting and predictable characters. No hero has aroused my sympathy, except Alfie, he has glimpses of common sense.
Costumes are too bright and intricate, but these are everyday clothes. Emily dresses up for work like a social event. I wonder where she got so much expensive designer clothes, she makes millions. And her tiny apartment should look like a dressing room, but we don't see anything like that. I will add about Selvi's frank cleavage in the third season - it looks ugly, to put it mildly.
I don’t understand why the series has such a high rating. Only beautiful views of Paris.
In my opinion, such series with stupid and superficial characters are a thing of the past. It's not interesting anymore! There is no life in this series, only falsehood, predictability and absurdity.
I didn't mind, sorry.
The series "Emily in Paris" from the moment of its announcement immediately attracted attention. Netflix’s lightweight series will feature Paris. In fact, it was the same thing.
The main character Emily Cooper worked in a marketing firm in Chicago, her boss was supposed to go to Paris to complete the entry of the French company Savoir into the brand in Chicago. But she couldn’t go there and Emily went to Paris. New work, colleagues, friends...
The first season shows us a lot of interesting ideas of Americans about France and is almost entirely devoted to Emilia’s acquaintance with the new country and the peculiarities of working in it. 'You live to work. “We work to live,” said one of the characters of the series about the way of life of Americans.
The second season focuses on the love triangle and Emily’s work in the French company.
But I would like to focus on the third season. The leitmotif of the season is the quote of J.-P. Sartre that the lack of choice is also a choice. And we have to deal with the consequences of that choice. Emily tries to play the role of Truffaldino from Bergamo, working for two firms at once. Former Savoir staff try to keep morale in the business world. Also interesting is the love line that continues the love triangle. The main characters this season have to make a choice, but their indecision is simply surprising. I do not want to describe everything in detail, so as not to spoil the impressions. If you’re looking for an easy show for the evening, Emily in Paris won’t disappoint.
I love Paris, I love romantic melodramas, I like actress Lily Collins.
This is enough to make my review color green. But I fully assume that those who do not experience such feelings will not be so supportive of the project.
I'll tell you why.
An American woman in Paris is a favorite topic of many romcoms. You can even say a tired stereotype. This series has not escaped the cliché either. Not only did he not escape, he repeated them every single time.
Judge for yourself. A young American woman, Emily, comes to Paris for work. The capital of France amazes her and every minute demonstrates its "parade" facade - washed to shine pavements, majestic architecture, cozy cafes and freshest croissants in the morning.
The city is a fairy tale, the city is a dream, as only tourists know it.
So Paris is fine. With the French - worse, but the eternal opposition of the belle vie and American rationalism gives way to the extraordinary efficiency and creativity of Emily.
What else? Oh yes, the girl quickly makes friends with whom it is so great to eat all the charms of life in the European capital. And - the cherry on the cake - Emily's neighbor is... handsome French. Such that Alain Delon is resting.
If you dig into the memory, you can remember a dozen such stories. And you can not dig and enjoy a lovely romcom.
He will not teach you anything, nor will he teach you anything. If only - the girls understand - to look for fashionable things from the images of the main characters. With style in the project complete order, as well as with bright colors, and various gastronomic attractions.
Overall, it's a wonderful series for a cold winter evening. Good mood is guaranteed!
A friend convinced me to watch this series, laying out the main trump card - that this is a project from the creators of SVBG. “There are dresses, and lightness, and a man of dreams present,” she said. I had no choice but to start watching.
So let's start with Emily. Lily Collins is in her 30s, and she looks like an angular teenager and behaves the same way. I really don’t like when the characters of the film behave unnaturally, it interferes with full immersion. I know it's not a movie, it's an attraction, but where's Darren Star's pen? There's only Patricia Field in every shot! However, she seems to be stuck in the glorified beginnings of zero. Of all the heroes, only the boss looks decent. Emily is the real hick, no one dresses like that in Europe for a long time.
Scenario:
It's a fiasco. It feels like it was written right before the start of filming, and maybe even during it. No plot tricks - everything is smooth and predictable, the actions of the characters are illogical. The lucky main character manages everything at a click - she is everywhere green light, everyone favors her, men fall in love at first sight. The line with Sino-Korean girlfriend Emily is meaningless, she was screwed into the series to change the picture. Her five-minute chants slow down the already protracted development of the plot.
A man of dreams:
It's a disappointment. Appearing at first and dazzling with beauty, very soon the guy turned into a dull slime that can not deal with either the restaurant or women. He just stands there and looks with cow's eyes at what's going on around him.
Brow Emily:
They are really more interesting than the plot itself, they live their lives - then they soar up, then they start a wave, resembling two worms that crawl after each other. In fact, that was all the facial expressions of Lily Collins.
Heroes:
In addition to an adequate (but overly clichéd) boss, the characters are like circus characters - twisted and make ridiculous sounds. Poor Pierre Cardin turned over in his grave from such a brazen parody, I think relatives sued for this.
Summarizing. A good movie always has to have some morals. She's not here, no matter what. No instructive situations, no character development, no humor. Nothing.
Because it's just a scam. Hence the fair rating - you can look to give the brain a rest.
To begin with, the first season of ‘Emily in Paris’ brought me nothing but a skeptical smile on my face. Such an easy romantic story, actually sucked out of a finger, with rather flat characters. The situation was saved, perhaps, only by the views of Paris and very strange outfits, which were just interesting to see. In general, the first season was an easy series for one time.
And if in the first season, as I said, you could find something else good, then the second season is an absolute disaster. From the first episode, literally everything and everything is annoying. The main character Emily, who has only one emotion - in any situation it is awkward to smile and twist eyebrows. And it does not matter who told her what, who did it and how, the reaction will be the same. Not only is there absolutely no pride in a girl (and sometimes it seems that she has brains), so her desire to please everyone is just infuriating.
Her friend, who was allegedly betrayed, is also not particularly smart, proud, or anything at all. Not only did your man trade you for a restaurant in another country from the very beginning (without much regret), but even then he was unable to explain himself honestly to you and simply hid behind the scenes. What kind of love can we talk about here? A completely flat character to match your boyfriend.
I have a lot of complaints about Gabriel. It's not a character, it's a caricature of a man. Even his appearance in the end pales against the background of his absolute grayness and wretchedness. It's literally annoying. Instead of understanding the situation that he himself created, the writers of the series simply took him aside, making him a banal observer, they say, let the girls understand and fight for this “beautiful man”. Whoever wins, he will surely win. From such a man should run, sparkling slippers, and not romanticize the behavior of a man who can not even talk to his girlfriend after five years of relationship! Based on his behavior, we can conclude that in principle, both girls are not much needed, but for some reason the writers considered that to look all this nightmare will be “romantic”.
The head of the French office, where Emily works, also forgot how to communicate with subordinates. The feeling that she will die if she utters at least one sentence without sulking or putting poison on her employees.
I can tell you for a very long time and angrily why the second season of Emily in Paris is very, very bad. But perhaps what I have written is enough. I can honestly understand why this series was criticized in France. I really don’t want to be part of a project where everything from characters to ridiculous outfits on a weekday in the center of Europe fails. And the ugly deeds of the heroes are explained by the fact that they say we are in Paris, it is so customary here.
All right, Netflix, sit down, two!
The series is easy, moderately naive, you should not expect smart speeches from him, and you will not make philosophical conclusions, but nevertheless, look, you will not regret it.
I watched it on the wave of popularity of another project Netflix - 'The Queen's Walk', comparing them, many preferred chess over Emily.
I voted for Emily, and here's why:
First, Paris. My God, as everything is beautifully shown, you can make screensavers on the desktop from frames - whether it is the Eiffel Tower, Montmatra, the Seine embankment, or Versailles - the eye is directly happy.
Second, the actors are perfect. Lily Collins can play average, and these eyebrows live a separate life, but the image of Emily turned out to be light, naive, in places arrogant, but nevertheless charming, and bright and eccentric outfits are a separate topic.
Another one of my favorites, her girlfriend Mindy (Ashley Park) - I think her singing songs in Season 2 is a joy for the ears. I'm fascinated.
Sylvie, Emily's boss, it's walking sex with French chic. The French, in my opinion, were in vain offended that they were shown clichéd, and not so. On the contrary, I think they showed just the same magnificently strict, but elegant, charming, but with claws, perceptive and knowing their value.
Third, the love that surrounds us everywhere, whether it is the views of Paris, the food prepared by Gabriel, or the sex between two lovers – all imbued with a love potion.
Of course, there are disadvantages, but they do not spoil the impression, but rather balance the excess honey in the series.
If you want something unpretentious, easy, funny, then I recommend you to watch, everyone else – pass by, for you created and released “Queen’s Walk”, “Squid Game” and “Witcher”.

I really enjoyed Season 1. Such an easy series, with a naive American woman in love with Paris, who makes mistakes and recovers, plows and falls in love.
Season 2 is a total disappointment. It all came down to the banal, who sleeps with whom, actions-clichés, situations-clichés and the series could be renamed “Cliche in Paris”.
The boss is a rude American woman who seems to have been deliberately made ugly. This is not Miranda Priestley (and it is not clear how to compare the series with the Devil Wears Prada). And Emily's not Andy. And nothing to do with sex in the big city with its luxurious outfits, shoes and plot.
Speaking of the banal plot - how could you take not the best of Carrie and bring them again in a completely different series, just to what?

Darren Star has grown a whole generation. First we watched the lives of the Beverly Hills boys, then plunged into the incredible and luxurious life of Carrie Bradshaw and her friends. All these touching, light, beautiful and unobtrusive stories will conquer any girl, believe me. And the new series Stara was no exception.
Beautiful, naive, you can even say fabulous life of a girl Emily, who is forced to work in an advertising agency in the beautiful city of love - Paris under the guidance of a strict and obstinate boss. Something reminiscent of ' The Devil Wears Prada' isn't it?
Personally, it reminded me of the combination of the same Prada, Sex and here you can still safely add 'Gossip Girl' to get a new modern fashion cocktail.
At first, when I first saw the series, I thought it was a lightweight, naive, vanilla series for girls who dream of being in Paris for Fashion Week, where they can drown with the beautiful and refined atmosphere of the city. But, you know, it didn't stop me from watching at all, because it was a hit on the spot. After all, what else do you need to watch for an evening when you want to completely relax and plunge into some completely carefree and beautiful world? Such a simple, soulful and even funny series, the series of which lasts about half an hour, was just lacking.
All these ten short-lived episodes flew in one breath. The series instantly engages itself with this chic and unforgettable atmosphere of the city.
By the way, there are almost no passing characters, if they are given more than a couple of minutes. They are bright, extravagant and have a memorable scene with them. From the outfits and images of the main character is simply impossible to take your eyes off. The costumes were given a lot of time in this series. Everything looks so stylish and beautiful that I want to try every way to repeat the unforgettable image of Emily going to the ballet, to the exhibition and even to a simple cafe. She is always beautiful, elegant and elegant.
In general, 'Emily in Paris' is a light and beautiful fairy tale that will be nice to watch after a hard work for or even after a romantic dinner with your soul mate. A chic and small-scale new project by Darren Stark, in which the incomparable Lily Collins and French culture shine.
This is a light, unobtrusive and, for the most part, girly series about an American Emily, who got the chance to leave for work in Paris. There she is faced with difficulties in translation, that is, lack of knowledge of the language, but by luck almost all the characters in the series speak English, and if they do not speak, then she is translated either by friends or a Google translator. It's so simple.
Many criticize the series for a too banal script, obvious plot twists, boring dialogue, but it does not pretend to be anything serious. Personally, I think the critics are just smacking. A similar situation with the costumes of the main character - some, you see, do not like the way she is dressed. Not in Paris. But I won't. At the very beginning, she comes in typical American bows: jeans, T-shirts. But the longer Emily is in Paris, the more confidently jeans are replaced by dresses, skirts, jackets, berets, heels, handbags. There are more and more heavy suites in her wardrobe.
Emily herself is a pretty funny character. She is purposeful, funny, creative, open and hardworking. Through the series reveals the essence of modern influencers, showing that social networks are the future. Emily is engaged in marketing and, for the most part, is responsible for advertising the product on Twitter, Instagram and other grids. Some of her techniques are very interesting, especially for those who brew in this instagram topic - you can take ideas for note.
The series does not have a lot of semantic load, but for some reason I really like it. There is a beautiful Paris, and jokes, and ease, and fashion - all in one bottle, which must be opened. The series looks in one breath.
Emily lived all her life in the same city, in Chicago, she has everything that the average girl requires from society - a successful job, a beautiful guy, a certain circle of friends. Suddenly she is given the opportunity to move to another country, to the city of romantic dreams Paris.
Let me tell you right away, I liked the series. For many it will seem superficial, and I will not even argue with it. I didn’t expect anything from the show, so I wasn’t disappointed. I like Lily Collins and I enjoyed her presence on the show. One of the male characters, Lucas Bravo, I have a crush on my soul, very handsome and deep, kind blue eyes. Overall, we have a good cast.
I agree with the comments about the star character’s sensuality, about the abundance of stereotypes and about the plane of the characters, but I, again, did not expect anything from the series at all, I just wanted to take a break from my difficult life in the big city. Which I actually got. Thank you to the creators and all the participants of the series.
Separately, I want to emphasize that the quality and beauty of the landscapes of Paris just stunned me, and I even paused and saved screenshots, so I liked the landscapes of the city. I liked the outfits that were shown on each of the characters and heroines, I appreciated the efforts of the stylists of the series. Separately, I note that I watched in the original voiceover, since I am a fan of the French language, it was very pleasant to listen to French speech, oh, this gratifying p in almost every word.
I recommend if you can turn your mind off and just, without questioning the rather obvious plot twists, enjoy an almost fabulous picture of Paris and a modern princess as Lily Collins.
"Emily in Paris" by netflix - a lovely option to relax in the digital world.
Beautiful girl mix “Sex and the City”, “Carrie Diaries” and “The Devil Wears Prada”, sprinkled with insta-things and polished alluring views of Paris.
A girl from America comes to where? Of course to Paris! But, on the job, in a marketing company to exchange experiences and fresh ideas. She's trying to blend into the city, into the work and the various advertising integrations.
Emily goes to work (which is very important to her), simultaneously looks for friends, flirts with her neighbor, posts, recruits followers, eats in cute establishments and learns French.
Lily Colins (the main character), I still clearly associate with the film - "Love, Rosie." And all the time I wanted to shout to her: "Dump these guys (who are around her a lot), you have such a handsome best friend!"
Series like candy goes quickly and easily that hop and season is over.
Such a pleasant way to cool the brain from work or tasks.
"Emily in Paris." Why watch? First, even in the trailer, the attention of viewers is attracted by the words “from the creator of Sex and the City” in large letters. Which is interesting, and with it certain expectations. Secondly, beautiful views of Paris and a huge number of fashionists on the screen.
Cons.
There are serial clichés. Evil boss. Or the personal life of the main character, to which men react like bees to honey. We have both drama and love.
Stereotypes. A little caricatured. Criticism of the series was largely due to this. But there is some truth to it.
The lines of Emily’s boyfriend and her boss from America are poorly worked out, as if at some point the writers of the series simply forgot about them.
Over. This is a simple series about a young girl whose life begins anew in the city of love – Paris. Suitable for those who want to enjoy the beautiful views of France, admire fashionable clothes and worry about the personal life of the main character.
Emily is an American marketer who ends up in Paris for a business trip.
This is a very atmospheric story with interesting outfits, looking at which you want to go to France. I just want to go through life so easily.
What can you learn from Emily?
1) Be confident in your professionalism.
Her new colleagues treat her, to put it mildly, snobbishly, but Emily knows what it costs and can rely on a good education and work experience in America, which helps her resist the attacks of new colleagues.
2) You can take it when someone doesn't like you.
Yes, she is trying to correct the situation, but it does not hit her self-esteem.
(3) It's easy to meet.
I found a reason and threw a few words and said, “By the way, I’m Emily.” And then I suggested a meeting.
(4) Seize opportunities.
And use it right away. The way she crafts the occasions to collaborate with her new acquaintances fascinates me. And really nothing is difficult, except to be brave to speak and suggest.
(5) Shit happens.
There is a risk behind every initiative or decision, and not everything goes smoothly, but she is looking for a solution, not giving up.
I don’t have a single question about the cliché about the French in the series: firstly, I’m not French to be offended by it, and secondly, I don’t see anything wrong with it, clichés are more likely to make fun of themselves than annoy. It's like French cranberries.
But questions to other components begin with the first - short - series.
1. Acting. It's just bad and nothing to add. Liked Kate Walsh (screen time she can have 3 minutes), and Ashley Park (Mindi), the second with a stretch.
2. Scripted dialogues. Talking about what should and should not be full of the whole series, new phrases did not even try to come up with.
3. Flat characters. We don’t know anything about any of the characters except what happens on the screen. The most talked about Mindy, while her entire biography fits literally in three lines. We don’t know anything about the office jockeys – Luke and Julian – although they take up a lot of screen time. From this follows the following paragraph -
4. There's no one to sympathize with. How do you feel for someone whose story and situation you don’t know? No way. So what happens on the screen does not cause any emotions, not only sympathy, even fun or curiosity.
5. Illogical. In each episode, something illogical happens that leads to a happy ending. Why do spoiled social lions rejoice (!!) at a small restaurant instead of a Michelin star restaurant? Why did the eccentric Pierre Cado suddenly fall in love with Emily? Because of what she said about the fashion world? Seventy-year-old fashion designer in his long career did not guess? There are many questions, the series does not give answers.
6. Double moral guidelines. It's a controversial punt, but I can't help mentioning it. Emily complains that the French office does not want to recognize the corporate rules of her company, but goes on dates with a client. Emily, who you are, decide at last!
7. Dubbing (at the end, because it is not directly related to the series). I watched half in the original, half in the voiceover. And if in the original the first two points are not so striking, then dubbing reinforces the already bad impression. The case when minus by minus is not multiplied, they add up.
In general, even taking into account all of the above, I can not say that this is a terrible series. He's just-- none. The same series that can be put on the background during some class and not afraid to miss something interesting, because there is simply nothing to miss.

Currently, movies and TV series are viewed under a microscope, and are analyzed in detail for moments that potentially leave the viewer hurt, insulted or humiliated. This applies not only to new, modern works (they are rather subject to adjustments during production), but also goes to the processing of classics. As for "Emily in Paris," the trend has not bypassed. The series has already attracted a decent number of viewers, its ease, unpretentiousness. And more attention helped to attract caring French, and in particular Parisians. Considered a personal insult shown heroes living in the capital of France.
The series tells the story of a loving, attractive and positive girl Emily, who got the chance to work in France. She takes advantage of the situation and begins to build communications with colleagues, neighbors, and just random people meeting on the streets of a beautiful city. This is a life-changing moment.
I think if you take literally all the criticism that has fallen on the series and its creators, there will be no place left from the impressions. Most people in the United States are not interested in geography outside of their continent, and the same majority of creators of entertainment content take into account the focus on which it will be interesting to focus the attention of that very short-sighted audience. Thus, we come to the fact that the series is not intended in principle to evaluate the native Parisians / French, people who migrated there, or simply residents who have ever arrived in Paris.
The series has a linear concept in which the main character Emily (Lily Collins) copes with the adaptation, in a place though pleasant but unfamiliar. She's faced with cultural differences, with an aversion to synchronization at work. This story is not about overcoming difficulties, it is a moment in which you can learn how to cope with everything without lowering your head, while doing it with colorful ease. In this case, Lily Collins embodies that very lightness. It completely captures attention, fills the screen with radiance. It is easy to believe that the actress will actually act in most cases as her heroine.
The smoothing of angles in cultural differences is noticeable, but it is shown primarily for interesting jokes, often cliched but still noticeable, not making you feel uncomfortable.
Bringing the heroine to her position in society is not distinguished by plot intricacies, everything happens absolutely not inventively. What can be distinguished is the general move, how to have fun in a beautiful place, how to find romance in a place where it is literally everywhere. The stereotypical approach works exactly as intended.
When watching the series, there is no desire to shine through each episode to identity. Most sketches are inserted to lift the mood, the genre allows it and looks attractive. The series plays on the nostalgia of travel, showing cozy restaurants, and places in which it is pleasantly located on the other side of the screen. Without focusing on the emphasis of cultural foundations (breakfast croissant, work from 10 o’clock, long-term lunches, wine as a must-have element, or the abundance of handsome people anywhere in the city), the series wins by showing dreamy Paris exactly as you want to see it. Especially in the context of this story.
Far, far away, across the Atlantic Ocean lived and there was one very ordinary screenwriter, riveting the same plots for the afternoon & #39; soap & #39; from the life of middle-aged office hamsters - Darren Star. Once he was lucky to pull a star ticket with the TV series 'Sex and the City'. The series was praised without measure, and our soap maker seriously believed that this is the greatest masterpiece of all time.
And so the dramaturgy of the series 'Emily in Paris' he did exactly the same. Replace New York with Paris and replace a few friends with Emily. That's all business.
As a result, it turned out that it should have turned out - as Jean-Luc Godard called the same quality films in the 50s, ' Dad's movie' It’s like 1998, and the first novel 'Sex and the City' just being removed.
As if it is still the XX century, and the revolution that the TV brought the same ' Game of Thrones', did not happen. Everything that changed as a result - drama, directing, characters, conflicts - remained the same. Fans of TV junk who are interested 'soap' in its crystalline purity, 'Emily in Paris' will surely be satisfied.
However, it will interest 'Emily in Paris' and those who are engaged in real (not theoretical) marketing and management - as the series in its naive simplicity reveals the reality of modern marketing/management. When real work (including strategic decision-making) is carried out by people who have nothing to do with formal leadership. And when a business trip to a distant branch of an absolutely incompetent in practical marketing employee (the same Emily) does not change anything in this branch. Simply because in modern management, such an act is just a gesture of politeness, having nothing to do with real leadership.
It is clear that if the playwright of the series (the same Darren Star) had, in addition to the accumulated plot patterns, also artistic talent, he would make satire. Or, at worst, a production series in the style '99 francs'. But it is noticeable that Star is as well versed in French marketing as in marketing in general (that is, at -273 Kelvin), and to require him to know Begbeder and Baudrillard is somewhat too much. Pure Emily! In addition, American television in the days 'Sex and the City' satire was also not thought of. So it turned out standard American 'soap'. With a clever, sensible American Emily and a crowd of terribly old-fashioned and unmodern Frenchmen who, by some misunderstanding, do not speak English in their Paris.
Barbarians, right? It's about Chicago!
But that's not all. After all, our smart, reasonable Emily is also a carrier of the advanced ideology of WomenPower!!! And given how highly developed her intelligence (even the presence of gender in the language leads her to culture shock and stupor), one can imagine with what crowbar simplicity this discourse is revealed in the series.

Only the lazy did not accuse 'Emily in Paris' of cliché and stereotype. But everyone sees what they want. I saw in Emily not only the charm of France and Paris, but Darren Star's desperate desire to repeat the success of Sex and the City.39 Unfortunately, this project is not competing with one of the greatest creations of HBO.
Should I? 'Sex..' that and sex to be unique. 'Emily in Paris' nice homage to the season-ending masterpiece of Darren Star.
Delicious as a morning croissant, cute as a walk on a river tram, charming as a first date in a Paris cafe. Stereotyped and clichéd, but in spite of everything easy, funny and amusing.
Star's love of cities is not new. Carrie Bradshaw adored New York City and called it her only true love. Emily is also having an affair with Paris. And let'French' peculiar and not so straightforward in comparison with New York,'love' still turns out to be mutual
In the company of Emily is not ashamed to pass the evening, and in the morning to bake those croissants and breakfast them in Paris, dipping in coffee.
Although Emily did not walk confidently in Manolo Blahnik, but nevertheless she leaves a pleasant impression. Acquaintance with this viewer does not oblige to anything, but the company is not bad enough.
It's been a long time! I only experienced such emotions when I traveled to France. And better than that can only be a vacation in Paris with a loved one!
This happens when you suddenly discover something you love. For example, the series 'Emily in Paris' which is filled with my adored France, her spirit, beauty and romance, humor and love of life.
Young and talented American Emily goes on a dream trip to Paris to teach the French marketing techniques of the New World. Full of enthusiasm and determination, she unexpectedly faces misunderstanding and contempt from new colleagues. As they say: with their charter in a foreign monastery do not go. Emily has to adjust to a different culture and snobbery of the French, combining her career, new friendships and a love life.
The series is literally full of beautiful and blooming Paris. It feels like Woody Allen was filming it. But in the case of 'Emily in Paris' it's made even cooler! Not even French films can boast of that. I have never seen so much Paris in thirty minutes of screen time. And so in each series: streets, houses, embankments, parks, restaurants, cafes - as if you walk around the city yourself.
Do you know what the French do when things are bad? - Making love.
The beauty of the French capital is accompanied by the beauty of the characters. They are clearly tailored to emphasize that the events are set in the most romantic place in the world. Here the ball is ruled by love, it is everywhere - from the beauty of the body to the beauty of the word. The dialogues of the characters are witty and funny, filled with light and unique French humor, subtle and inspired art of flirting. They give the story a positive cheerful spirit and excite the love of life.
“Without simple girls like me, you wouldn’t all be so fashionable.”
'Emily in Paris' is Paris in all its glory. The city is not only the capital of France, but also one of the four capitals of the world of high fashion. Heroes look bright and elegant, pleasing the eye with stylish costumes and glamorous outfits. The tone is set by Emily, who changes images like gloves. The apotheosis of her outfits was a stunning dress ' from couture ' made in the form of an unusual flower.
The stunning holiday of life is accompanied by a harmonious soundtrack, which skillfully emphasizes and enhances the cheerful and romantic atmosphere of the story. It has many songs in French, compositions unknown to a wide audience, and several hits from the last century and the present.
And the series is interesting with creative ideas in advertising and brand promotion in social networks, and replenishment of language baggage with modern English phrases.
The Devil Wears Prada + Sex and the City = Emily in Paris
''EMILI IN PARIS'' from Netflix 2020
A brand new project from my favorite Netflix.
The series consists of 10 episodes and each series of 28-30 minutes. I watched it in two days. 'Emily in Paris' it's a mix: 'The Devil Wears Prada' +'Sex and the City' and we're coming out with a miniseries starring Lily Collins. The series is not unique and it is very much 'ROZOVOY' (through the prism of pink glasses on Paris), sometimes just a fairy tale. I want to watch this show in the evening under a glass of wine. This is a 100% girl show (although, is that a bad thing?).
'Emily in Paris' the series is very cozy, gentle and warm. You look in one breath. Especially at the end of the year, when we are all very tired of the unbearable 2020, this mini-series will make you smile and you can easily recharge the positive. 'Places want to be in the place of the heroine.' For me in 'Emily in Paris' not much, but really want to watch and waiting for season 2 (probably need to see such pictures).
MINUS: I didn't have enough dedication in the game. In some places, there was playfulness. Where there should be FEELING, I saw some kind of detachment in the actors. Tragic stereotypes about the French and it was annoying in places.
A beautiful picture with some kind energy, which leaves a wonderful aftertaste, after watching season 1.
Fashionistas will like the series. I recommend it to all girls who are tired and have lost the positive. Anyone who wants to just relax, poking, then look. P/S The series is very 'APPETITY' French (chef). Season 2.
The heroine of the series cannot exist in nature at all. Or rather, it can exist - as a junior staff somewhere in a small company, but not as a good marketing specialist in a company that can afford a business trip to another continent for xxx months. The very form in which she came to work in ' native' office, speaks of the flat comedy orientation of the series, and not in favor of poor Emily.
What a 2014 outfit. Everyone.
The French say that you can laugh either at everything or at nothing, but the reference to Karl Who? strongly contrived given the conditionally recent death of the designer. Are there few humorous stories in the fashion industry?
You can probably watch the 18-20 year old audience, but no more. For those who are passionate about fashion, I do not recommend watching.
Watching “Emily in Paris” in November, in gray Petersburg, is one of the best decisions.
What's the show about?
From Chicago to Paris moves charming Emily, who immediately plunges into the atmosphere of the most romantic city in the world, makes new acquaintances, makes progress at work, gets into awkward situations and masterfully chosen from them.
It is worth noting that nothing serious should be expected from this series! This is a story that can become a reality for the elect. Emily was probably the one who was chosen.
Each episode includes 30 minutes of lightness, freshness and some inner lift. It is absolutely clear that using every possible cliché about Paris is meant to inspire and relax the viewer! In the world, especially this year, there are enough problems and worries to try to consider the shortcomings in the series. Sometimes it’s good to just have aesthetic pleasure and dream about a better life. Emily could, and you can too!
For those who have the opportunity, it is better to watch the series in the original voiceover. Dialogues are not complex, and the charm of Paris and the people living there is captured better. Despite the fact that many French people speak English without a visible accent, it is impressive that they are real Frenchmen! Perfectly coped with their roles Philippines Leroy-Bolieu and Lucas Bravo. Lily Collins is very organic: one should not look for tricks and improbability in the character of her heroine, but adopt these definitely useful qualities in life!
As a result, “Emily in Paris” is a very beautiful, easy series that distracts from the pressing problems of life and immerses simply in the magical atmosphere of another life, where it is always warm, sunny, where incredible star parties are held, where people are always ready to help, where the doors of all houses are open, where people simply have money and taste for life, where there is no place for fears and self-doubt... and where there is always a glass of exquisite wine at hand!
This series is a strange thing, like a good thing, but it seems not.
What's good about it?
1. Many people do not like Paris for noise, dirt, inconvenient transport and inflated prices. However, few people could describe this city as "unbeautiful & #39". Paris is great in all weather, so the movies and TV series shot here are always a pleasure to watch, unless the purpose of the project is to show us the opposite side, hidden from tourists. 'Emily in Paris' still a series about fashion, so we see exclusively the embankments of the Seine, palaces, the Eiffel Tower from different angles and expensive shops. As if we were looking at the revived photos that won the competition.
2. This is not a series that you need to think about and from which you expect a large number of unexpected plot twists. That’s why the series is so short.
3. In modern projects, music is an important component. Here it is well selected: an easy plot - an easy soundtrack, nothing too dramatic.
4. A lot of the actors are great, and I remember the Philippines as Leroy-Bolieu, who played Sylvie. I don’t think I’ve seen a movie or TV series with her before, but I’m sorry.
5. Almost everyone is very stylishly dressed. Especially the French. Especially women who are over 30 years old.
What's wrong with that?
The plot is too fabulous, but it is stated that it is a drama, melodrama, comedy. For me, drama and fairy tale are the same only if the fairy tale is sad. Then it shouldn't be a comedy.
1. You can't live in Paris without seeing the homeless and the dirt on the streets. Even if you live in an expensive neighborhood and work downtown, you won’t pass by. It is not clear why the authors wanted to show an implausible image of the city.
2. You do not expect sharp turns of the plot, but you also hardly want to anticipate them every time in advance. It gets boring at some point.
3. Emily is an American from the big city. I have little experience with Americans, it's strange to me that she's being so persistent. Maybe I don't know about Americans, but in a new place, people usually try to settle in first, and then they start making their own rules. Emily almost from the doorway behaves a little shameless, allegedly so the French see Americans, and they consider themselves in step with the times. I think that’s too much emphasis.
4. The French will almost never tell you to your face that you're a total sucker, a dummy, your accent is disgusting. Maybe once in the twenties they'll give you a hint. Until then, they'll just avoid it. They will smile at you and be polite. The characters are either angry with Emily or immediately love her. No shades. No neutral attitude.
5. French people laugh at American accents, but where is their accent? Why is it that almost everyone on the show talks too well? Often French English is a little hard to take, because they ignore (literally) sounds that are not pronounced in French, and put stress in their own way.
6. I didn't like Lily Collins' play. No shades again, Emily is either smiling or sad. Mostly smiles, and a little silly and not always appropriate. Besides, she's too naive, it's not clear how she survived in a big American company.
8. Yes, everyone works in the office, it is convenient to walk in high heels, but on the street - not. And since Emily works a lot and is constantly on her feet, the choice of shoes is doubly unclear.
9. Everyone is dressed stylishly, but Emily is dressed too stylishly. She goes to work, not just walks around town. Although her outfits are still nice to watch, of course. I hope Emily's style is such a hint that blindly imitating something is not always right, rather comical. Mindy could have been better dressed. She rebels against a strict father, not sells herself. Although sometimes she was dressed as if to show that Asians have no taste. Some do not, of course, but it is unlikely that a girl from a rich family who studied in Europe for several years, such problems with taste.
10. About endless climbing the career ladder in the United States, probably, many films have been shot. This does not mean that people in other countries do not work hard. To show all the French characters as slightly arrogant slackers is illogical. Yes, the French office is very small and personal relationships are important, but I do not believe that such a company existed for even a few years. The French I know are pretty good at working, they just don't shout about it on every corner. That is the difference with the Americans. Emily is annoying with her hyperactivity.
Even though I found more downsides than upsides, I’ll still leave the review neutral because I’m writing based on the first season, and some of the downsides aren’t very important to the plot, it’s just something that cut my eye or ear. And no, Emily doesn't have to stop being herself, but you can't come to a foreign country and not change at all, especially if you work mostly with natives and not other foreigners.
A series of stars from the sky is missing. It's not that comedy, not that it's about fashion. But not bad overall. I can’t say I liked it, but my expectations were worse.
For lovers of something light and unobtrusive, a new product has appeared - 'Emily in Paris'. However, those who are familiar with the culture and customs of France it is better to refrain from watching - you will be hurt.
The series tells the story of an American woman who moved to Paris for work. It would seem that it could be more innocent. Everyone knows that they do not go to a foreign monastery with their own charter (especially in French). The main character plans to demolish the monastery and build a McDonald’s in its place (metaphorically, of course). Then it is very surprising why the gloomy French do not pee boiling water from her brilliant ideas.
As for the image of France and, in fact, its indigenous people: croissants, berets and sex. Are you serious? The authors’ ideas about the country and the population are the biggest drawback of the series. The abundance of ridiculous stereotypes about the evil French will make a representative of any nation awkward. But do not worry, because cheerful Americans will come to Paris and condescendingly explain to the narrow French that their culture and traditions are outdated. The ubiquitous American tolerance and gender equality will also not be forgotten, or suddenly Parisians do not know how to live now.
Actors are poorly revealed, and even the main character is not reported. What do characters like, what do they not like, what are their habits, weaknesses, strengths? How to empathize with faceless heroes? In this regard, the most sympathetic Mindy - she is the only one who has a history and character.
Let us omit the fact that to send a sent Cossack to another continent, the American corporation did not find a more experienced employee or at least an employee who knows the language - much has been said about this. A little strange looks the relationship of the girl with others. She seems to have no friends or family at home. They don't call her, she doesn't miss them, and they miss her. But separation from loved ones for many becomes a stumbling block when moving to another country. One would assume that the heroine has no one, but she once or twice mentions that she still has family and friends. Although even to the guy with whom they are ' practically engaged', our immigrant does not care much.
As for the pluses of the series. Everything is very beautiful, colorful, eyes are happy. A lot of attention is paid to the clothes of the actors - everyone seems to have just come off the podium right into the frame. Fashion is subjective and very controversial, but it is still interesting to look at the work of stylists. Collins was created to live in Paris. Against the backdrop of city panoramas and a glass of wine, it looks very organic.
The picture is light, sweet, sometimes funny. It should be noted that this is not a comedy project - it will not be very funny.
It is difficult to identify the target audience of the series. Perhaps it is more aimed at young ladies who (in a good sense) have not yet known life, work, or love. Edaky 'Sex and the City' for schoolchildren - too naive the main character and plot twists. The older generation can be a bit boring, although the creators clearly tried to add peppers for an adult audience. If you want to brighten up the evening with something charmingly relaxing - the adventures of an American woman in France will go with a bang.
Although the unpleasant draft 'Emily in Paris' does not cause, yet after watching the first season, I really want to advise our Mademoiselle to return to Chicago, and leave the French alone.

Emily Cooper moves from Chicago to Paris. Paris is a city of love, passion and romance. She works in an advertising company, tries to join a new team, not to die of loneliness, show herself at a new job, understand this French chic, learn French and fall in love.
I fell in love with the show. For starters, because it's where Lily Collins plays, a tiny, fragile actress with a strong, independent woman. Over it, stylists, makeup artists worked very coolly, all images are unrealistically beautiful, so daring, elegant, refined, in general delight. The actors were very well chosen, I understand they are not very popular, and the actors themselves are from France, but I think everyone plays their own role. It was very unexpected to see Jean-Christophe Bouvet, who plays in the film 'Taxi'. There he was a military man, strict, serious, and here we see him as Pierre Cado, who is a famous French designer. I also really liked Paris, showed its beauty, these small atmospheric streets, I wanted to go there.
If we talk about the plot, it is quite primitive, it is quite clear who will fall in love with whom and how the events will unfold. But you know, tonight with a glass of wine, not bad. It’s a bit like 'Sex and the City'. Carrie Bradshaw, only in a modern interpretation, the same stylish outfits and this impenetrable, but naive character.
The series does not require thoughtfulness, seriousness, easy and immediate. I wonder what will happen in the second season. Looking forward to it.
Charming, beautiful and kind series, but too many stereotypes in the image of France
Tired of heavy series with an unpredictable plot? Want something light, beautiful and romantic? Then you should definitely watch the new series from Netflix 'Emily in Paris'
The series revolves around Emily Cooper, who is the chief marketing officer in Chicago. And so Emily, unexpectedly for herself, receives an offer to go to Paris for a year to work instead of her boss, in order to bring an American view to the work of the French subsidiary. The main problems around which all the interesting moments of the series revolve are the lack of knowledge of French in the main character, problems with her boss in Paris, and a lot of men around who constantly pay attention to the girl.
As it became clear, the plot is quite banal and simple. But what still gives this series the highlight for which it is worth watching?
The first is the atmosphere of Paris. Yes, it is quite exaggerated, romanticized, and created from almost all known stereotypes, but at the same time so light, sunny and kind. In general, this picture is very pleasant to look at. The series is constantly changing locations, so you will not be bored. In autumn gray weekdays, such a picture will definitely raise the mood and romantic spirit.
Secondly, I want to mention the excellent camera work. It perfectly presents the beauty of Paris, and emphasizes the individuality of each hero from different sides.
As for acting, of course, it is not at the top, but this series does not require any serious thoughtfulness, because it itself was meant a little stupid, but at the same time romantic.
In the end, I want to say that 'Emily in Paris' this is a good show for the evening. After that, you won't be asking the question ' what happens next?' He is, as I have said many times, light, pleasant, romantic and kind. In addition, each of us in the evening after work comes quite exhausted, and this series will help to tune in in a good way and throw unnecessary sad thoughts out of your head, transporting you to a beautiful, and so sweet Paris.

Emily in Paris was created by Darren Star. He is the author of a bunch of cool TV series from “Beverly Hills, 90210” to “Young”.
Emily is sent on a business trip from America to France. She will spend a year in Paris. During this time, Emily will face cultural differences, admire the panoramas of Paris, and finally try normal baking.
Emily was played by Lily Collins, the daughter of musician Phil Collins. Lily has been acting in films since her early years, including several episodes of 90210: The New Generation. There was such a spin-off of the original Bevely Hills.
In the new series, Lily managed to create an image of an enthusiastic American woman who gradually begins to succumb to European culture.
When Emily arrives in Paris, her slogan is “Fake it till you make it.” But that doesn’t seem to work in the new group. Emily isn't liked here, or even afraid. Not her, but the crazy ideas she has.
France is full of differences. The floors here are considered different than in America, eat wrong, and the attitude to work is different. Emily is used to living a career, but for some reason the French do not rush to the office. It opens up at 10:30 a.m.
Emily's boss played the Philippines Leroy-Beaulieu, a French actress. She has extensive filmography, but most films are released for the local market.
The show looks easy, it feels like you're walking around Paris with Emily - the camera work here is good. True, the French will grumble that the film collected all the stereotypes: dislike of foreign languages, croissants, baguettes and unwillingness to work.
But how else to make a movie for a wide range of viewers, if not exploit stereotypes? At least, Paris as a scenery is noticeably outperforming the average American city.
In general, this is a series about Europe, but it was shot by Americans with a huge experience in creating such a movie. And if "Emily in Paris" and will not show the real capital of France, it will certainly entertain.
