A very good concept for horror, but the abundance of mistakes and shortcomings, including from our localizers, break the entire perception of history. Localizers immediately burned down the office, translating "Opening Unknown" as "The Demon Inside." Well, there is no doubt about the mystical nature of what is happening in the film. The film itself contains in the center of an extremely interesting idea with the main character and her role, but it is not possible to promote it to the end - a mystical element with an abundance of hallucinations and otherworldly at some point leads to the fact that it becomes impossible to understand the logic of the world. It would be a very cool place for the movie. There would also be a moral and an adequate explanation.
... Everyone has secrets, but some have secrets too deep.
I once watched the top of good horror films, and in several videos I came across this movie. So I decided to watch it because I had never seen a movie like this before. I want to say one thing: the Russian translation often spoils a lot, so I expected something completely different because I was very surprised when I got something completely different, because there is no talk about demons here. From a boring introduction, we will move on to a review of Andre Ovredal’s film “The Demon Inside”, and in a more correct translation “The Autopsy of Jane Doe” or “The Autopsy of the Unknown”.
I will evaluate the film product by such criteria as the plot, acting, soundtrack, as well as the atmosphere.
Plot: A strange suspicious body was found at the scene. The sheriff took the body to a pathologist he knew, with whom terrible events began to occur, as the body turned out to be unusual. Again, because of the mistranslation, I was very surprised to see what was really going on. For this reason, I invented a sharp plot twist for myself, which is why I immediately warn you that the name that is happening does not correspond to the word at all. Speaking about the plot itself, I want to say this is the first time I have encountered this. And so, knowing that The Demon Inside is Stephen King's favorite movie in 2016, I dare say that there have never been films like this, but again I could be wrong. There’s an incomprehensible conflict going on in my head, as on the one hand, the storyline “keeps you at the screen” to the very end, which is a sign that the plot is very interesting. On the other hand, this film is just a citadel of all the clichés of horror films. You have no idea how predictable everything was. Honestly, I would have written the script as well, since I have seen all the techniques of this film in a bunch of other horror films. Despite this, the storyline is very interesting, which proves the fact that clichés are not always bad. The ending of the film is also amazing, not typical, for her great like. I have nothing more to write on this criterion.
Actress: The film continues to surprise in this regard. I'm just wondering what it was like to play Olwan Catherine Kelly as Jane Doe (The Strangers)? The role of a stationary corpse? I would just be shocked if she played this role from start to finish in person without any computer graphics or understudy. Unfortunately, this criterion ceases to surprise. Then begin the typical problems of horror films, namely the prescribing of characters. The second plan of the heroes is absolutely not written. But the first plan I wouldn’t call much better. Yeah, Brian Cox, who played Tommy, was even more or less spelled out. He felt like a character, in other words. But here's Emil Hirsch, who played Austin just a dummy, a figure with no history. It’s really frustrating, but that’s the problem with all the films in this genre, as I’ve written. I am pleased that the emotional component was at the highest level. You believed the heroes, you were scared with them, and so on. I have nothing bad to write about the game. So I can praise the characters, but I can also criticize the director and the writers. Make your own conclusions.
Soundtrack: The musical accompaniment of the film is just on top. What a suspense added to this melody that plays the whole film, namely the piano and the violin. Sometimes I get distracted by that tune. In addition, the musical accompaniment of the film, in addition to the melody, contains good full-fledged compositions, namely “Let the Sunshine in” – Pebbles. The soundtrack was also on the level, wheezing, creaking, closing, echoing and so on. All this together confirmed the fact that you are watching a horror movie with elements of a thriller, and not something else. There is nothing more to add here.
Atmosphere: I don’t know, the atmosphere is chic, but the nuance would be the same chic, if I knew the original title of the film in advance, and not another curved Russian translation. But, since I watched the film, as it turned out, I can write the following – the atmosphere is inflated every second. With each shot you are more immersed in this world, and you begin to be frightened by all the sounds that frighten the characters. I didn't know that an ordinary autopsy, an ordinary still corpse, could only scare you so much by its presence and strangeness, as if it were coming from it. In addition, the geolocation itself, namely the basement, made under the morgue. Next, this chic soundtrack, the same acting game, despite the shoals of the director and writers. And all this together creates an unforgettable and very intense atmosphere around the film. Because of this atmosphere, you realize that you are watching a horror movie, not something else. And do not forget about the influence of the thriller, which is here at the highest level.
Thus, the horror film with elements of the thriller and detective “The Demon Inside” or “The Autopsy of Jane Doe (Unknown)” caused me ambiguous emotions. I forgot to write about the detective. But I will write this: the detective part of the film is very interesting, since the characters conduct a whole investigation and its results scare you even more. Despite all these positive things, you may have questions for me. If everything is so good, why do you have mixed emotions? I'll tell you, because the movie is completely empty, with a lot of non-logical moments in the plot. Mistakes, in other words. Also, I would describe the whole story in this way: "This is a fleeting vision." Why is that? Because the movie doesn't come to a common denominator by the end, like it's in a hurry. The timing is clearly a bit cut off. Why? Because the movie leaves behind a bunch of questions that it doesn't answer. And all of this in total crosses out all the positive aspects of the film. If it were not for this unusual plot, great atmosphere and soundtrack, then the movie is essentially the most average, with a huge pile of understatement and gaps. If, of course, is good, but in fact we have what we have and it is impossible to deny the genius of the film. If I had my will and would allow me the rules of "Kinopoisk" I would put six and a half, but I put the estimate. Do I recommend watching? Yes, I recommend that this movie in your collection will not be superfluous. Stephen King liked it, so I'm sure most people will. I hope my review was helpful. Thank you very much.
An autopsy showed the patient died from an autopsy.
Director Andre Ovredal began with horror and thrillers, The Demon Inside is only the director’s second feature-length film. The Russian title of the tape will only spoiler the plot, since in terms of the supernatural film is too narrow, there is no scope for demons, but the premises, the open ending and the gradual disclosure of the mystery could please. In the original, we have "The autopsy of Jane Doe" - a very specific title, about mysticism and demons not a word, the overwhelming majority is occupied by a detective and a thriller. Perhaps localizers have indicated a specific representation so that compatriots sort the film according to other criteria.
Two pathologists, a father and a son, work at home in the basement. Apparently, private morgues are now in honor, there is no paperwork, there is a "roof" of cops - do it for your pleasure. Nevertheless, the light exposition shows very pleasant moments of “fathers and children”, introduces a female (live!) secondary hero in order to fully follow the precepts of Ivan Turgenev. That’s what’s amusing, the cliché of such films so often flashes on the screen that you understand how events unfold. The more Brian Cox's heartfelt conversation with Emil Hirsch, the more clearly the conjecture is confirmed. And also the girl Ophelia Lovibond – well, for sure, laid out unexpected turns on the shelves.
The first step is a very good detective part. Urgent body delivery (not pizza!) changes all plans. The answers to the questions, of course, are absent, and the picture begins to sprinkle with guesswork. The film is structured in such a way that doctors play the role of detectives, historians, and victims. It is interesting to observe the process of working on the body, the adult rating took care of the detailed presentation of all autopsy processes. Recording the recorder serves for the protocol to the main characters and to explain the plot to the audience.
Next, the director includes mysticism. Elements of the astral world, crymeras, unexpected circumstances. Great credit for the soundtrack, which is central to the chilling effect. Even if the next frame is harmless, due to sharp and loud sounds, adrenaline is injected into the blood.
The gradual stage of autopsy adds terrifying images, more intense mystical element, and after tension pleases with amazing signs and symbols of demonism. The disclosure process is exciting, and then there is an understanding of such a circumstance, which leads to the finale of the tape. Therefore, the denouement itself is not as exciting as a gradual autopsy, doctors’ sweeps, surprises when looking at organs, assumptions and guesses. The autopsy was good. Demonism is mediocre. Of course, drama was necessary here, but all the cards were known at the beginning of the film.
As a result, this is a simple, narrowly focused thriller that has its own characteristics, but in general does not shoot any unexpected circumstances. I also enjoyed Emil Hirsch on screen. I haven’t seen him for a long time (Tarantino gave a small role to an actor in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), and Brian Cox looked good.
The Demon Inside (2016). A small-town pathologist receives the body of a beautiful young woman with no apparent cause of death. They try to figure out who she is and how she died, discovering increasingly bizarre clues that lead to the mysteries of her life and death. The film by Andre Ovredal is a Norwegian film director who has behind his back not the most successful horror films, such as 'Troll Hunters', failed at the box office. However, Ovredal decided not to give up and attracted to his picture such an actor as Emil Hirsch (In the Wild 2007), who pleasantly pleased with the acting. The film is divided into two parts, like in principle any classical film.
The atmosphere of the film is getting darker and darker every minute. It is worth noting that the process of unearthing is extremely unpleasant for people not faint of heart and persistent. But this process is the whole feature of the film, showing the same “horror” of the body from the inside. Gradually, when the plot reaches the epicenter of supernatural and gloomy events, everything somehow becomes ridiculously funny. Scrimmers, from which the viewer can only be puzzled and not frightened, and then did not pull the picture. The film becomes awkward in terms of script and absolutely illogical, that it gets the feeling that the two main characters are being chased around the location from side to side ... or maybe they are. In a word, the film was unsuccessful, that it does not even fit the phrase “one time you can look.”
I really liked the atmosphere of the film - constantly pressing, inflating. You are constantly sitting and waiting for the mystical horror to occur and the dead body to come to life (and punish?). Great picture, beautiful colors and visual special effects. Brilliant performance of the actors (in fact - this is a film of two actors, all the others - on the pick-up). For the sake of acting - not sorry for the time spent.
But in all my praises, I want to pour not even a spoon, but a whole barrel of tar to the writer and director. More to the writer. The only question is, when you make a film about an autopsy, why not consult with specialists? It is necessary to first verify the biological death of a person, because there is a huge probability of lethargy or coma. And the film doesn't show the biological death of the body (wishing to know how it's done - there's a lot of information about it). Which negates the beauty of the show. It was possible to put everything on this story completely differently, and then it would be megacool. There is a lot to say, but I have no right to spoil.
Another nuance is the delusional translation of the name into Russian. What else is it 'The Demon Within'? The demon isn't even close. Why not leave a literal translation 'Opening Jane Doe' (or 'Opening Unknown')?
I give this rating only for the actors and a beautiful picture. Otherwise it would be even lower.
Banal at first glance, the idea of “supernatural events occurring in the morgue” plays a cruel joke with the viewer.
Actor's play. This is the first film in which the best, as I believe, game was demonstrated by a corpse. Yes, it is, and it is not that the actors perform so badly that there are no more candidates for this position. The point is that it is so authentic and plausible to play back a corpse is a challenge for any actor, because doing it is unrealistically difficult. Olwan Kelly copes with the role by 200%, leaving no doubt about his professionalism, because the reason to think that we have a living person, not a corpse, the actress does not give in any way. Coupled with her sexuality, seasoned with witchy cold, and refinement, every second of her screen time becomes filled with fear and sympathy at the same time. The rest of the cast fully implements the tasks assigned to it, interestingly playing the pathologist and his assistant, who are also blood relatives. On the basis of the joint loss of a loving wife and mother, the director adds to the picture a drama in which the actors act somehow a little unnatural and timid. I don’t think it affected the quality of the film because it’s completely different.
Antourage. The incredibly diligent work of the cast to find out the smallest details of surgical operations performed on corpses makes the picture very close to reality, makes it even to some extent scientific. High-quality drawing gives the autopsy scenes importance, because thanks to them, the viewer understands what allegedly happened to the poor girl. The interesting environment of the basement morgue also contributes to a greater immersion in the events taking place in the film. The entourage of “The Demon Inside” is one of the most “delicious” parts of this movie.
Plot. But the most “delicious” is the story. Not taking into account the pathetic drama about the deceased member of the family of pathologists, the situation is given to the viewer in portions, there is a kind of detective feed. A very interesting story filler are the subtlest stages of dismembering a girl, which give a lot of information to professional pathologists. Suspense added additional details of her death, because such internal damage can not relate to the completely unaffected outer shell. The state of deep anxiety is finally emphasized by various accentuating moments, for example, footage showing the subcutaneous pattern of Jane Doe. Of course, the final scenes reveal the director’s idea to the viewer in full. It is obvious that the main creator has his own vision of the picture, his own idea, not so obvious to the mass viewer. The plot did not do without some twist, which is fundamental and contributes to the disclosure of the main topic. Without him it would be good, but not as good as with him, even with a sluggish, completely smooth plot twist, but, nevertheless, radically changing the meaning of this work, while maintaining its own microcosm. Also, an undoubted advantage is such a characteristic of this story as self-sufficiency and the ability to be considered separately, in isolation from additional information. Unfortunately or fortunately, the lore of the picture is so global in its perspective that it was not possible to realize it 100%. Yeah, it's good enough, but there's a sense of incompleteness, a sense that it could be 10 times better. In any case, lore is thought out, the plot is worth attention, the script justifies itself.
Sound accompaniment and camera work. Often the cryp moments were associated with the interaction of music and frames. Each note of mysterious, eerie music was synchronized with the image of a snow-white shining witch, causing a sense of mystery, understatement and, as a result, a wild anxious expectation of new and new, in pieces of information collected.
If you’re reading a review of a movie with the word “demon” in its title, you’re probably a demon-themed fan. In this regard, the film is highly recommended for viewing, because it has its own new view on the already popular, sometimes exhaustive theme of the Devil.

The worst thing for me is that both writers have worked on major projects. That is, this guano is not just the ravings of a minor who has seen old horrors and gave out just a set of stolen elements. Sorry, I can't do without spoilers. I’m scared now not because I was scared by the film, but because of the realization that what is happening in America, since people with chronic runny nose really work in the film industry.
Yesterday I watched 'Scary stories for short stories in the dark', I was absolutely delighted with the combination of the atmosphere of Gothic, modern horror and nostalgic film. I decided to look at this one, since Ovredal was looking for such a scenario for a long time. In the middle of it, I thought the director was just an idiot to make it into a movie. Then I looked at the writers’ track record and realized that the other scripts were just worse. Now I'm sure this is a worldwide conspiracy to stupefy people. I know at least three brilliant writers whose projects have made it to the screen almost by accident. And these pair of assholes continue to write and film. At the beginning of the zeros, I was on “Silver Rain” & #39; I constantly heard about the strike of Hollywood writers, which I can not find confirmation now. But, I’m sorry, I somehow did not imagine that after the screen will climb absolutely repulsed pachoruks.
For the first forty-five minutes of the movie, nothing happens. And it's really cool and really scary. The actors perfectly act out the fear of pathologists who realize that the corpse on their table contradicts all the laws of biology. Hurt the amazing director, the atmosphere he transmits like a radio, tuned to the atmosphere. The sound of a bell tied to a corpse’s leg creates more horror than the screamers because the characters find themselves in a position where they don’t know what to do. But I translate everything that happens into the lines of the script and understand that the immersion in the seat is ahead of me.
I'll explain. The writer has no idea which director will film the text. Therefore, there should be additional lines and leads in the text that will keep the viewer even in cases of overplaying actors, bad makeup and other unprofessionalism of the director. There are no lines. The whole atmosphere is given only by the director, the script does not help him a single gram.
And then one of the corpses from their fridge moves towards the characters. Yeah, it's creepy, because they don't take makeup, they take shadows. And I have another chill running down my back: ' Characters are not allowed to escape and are forced to fight a corpse. It can't be that cliché, it can't be ... scum!' That's the cliché, your first assumption is right. Therefore, the spoilers promised are rather conditional - you already know the ending of the film, it is stupid and cliched to the point of impossibility.
So, after a battle with a corpse and a much-anticipated turn, the characters return to the operating room to find a way to kill the witch. What are they doing? The writer's fantasy is gone. To move the plot, he calls for the help of the Great Power of Stupidity. Characters cut off a piece of brain and stand with stunned faces for a long time. You're wondering what it is, aren't you? The brain is still alive. So when this thing raised the dead, blocked the exits, turned off the electricity, simulated a storm outside the window and played frightening tunes on the radio, did you think she was completely dead? Is that the whole discovery? Is that all the writer came up with? Yeah. Answer 'da' That's all he had. Since he invented all this imbecile in the bad sense of the word, then everything goes down the star instantly. ' There were no witches in Salem, it was hysteria' Bodies alive, hey! All right, on the drum, will you even try to kill a witch? No, what, the writer howls the most effective spell ' The power of stupidity, do not fail!'.
So what's the bottom line? Yes, Ovredal is fabulously beautiful. The movie is scary. Midway through. While the director with his magic is still able to defeat stupidity. The moment the characters finally realize that infernal forces must act against them and must begin to resist, the scenario outweighs. After a stunning atmospheric start, I think nine-tenths of the audience asked, ' Is that it?' Yeah, that's it. These are the movies, these are the writers. It's a conspiracy. And after such vivid manifestations of stupidity, I usually go to pray to intelligent dolphins that they quickly conquer us.
One of those movies that always caught our eyes in flames somewhere. And with positive reviews and recommendations for viewing. The first warm place among the green reviews here, by the way, the Cheshire Dog. Well, Man started the autopsy there. In general, after the new rental 'Scary stories for a story in the dark' I wanted to get acquainted with a short filmography of Andre Ovredal. That sounds like a name. It smells exotic and beckons. Andre Ovredal.
Not a new word in the genre, of course, but definitely an entertaining and exciting example of the horror genre. On March 23, 2017, in one blown day, 'The Demon Inside' and 'Live' Since the second film attracted a lot of attention, the first was lost in the wilds of cinemas. But the house looked in pitch darkness in headphones in high quality. You missed a girl? Without it, I wanted to watch the movie carefully. Mysteries and so far there have been questions.
I liked that the chamber atmosphere in the morgue, no more than five characters and a clear devil with a find under the skin of a pretty girl on the table. Brian Cox and the ever-young Emil Hirsch perfectly merged in the father-son relationship. Fortunately, without any offenses and childhood injuries, so as not to lengthen the timekeeping. Surely they were frightened to death in their arms. Moments with a bell can be childish, carefully. If there is no fear, be silent.
It is written that Andre Ovredal (here is the name!) was impressed with the film 'The Spell'. We can understand that we were shocked in the movie after watching it. In general, your 'Opening the unknown' you can see where it nods with its story. And it was worth immediately revealing all the secret in a localized name, aha... In general, it is nice that there are no too deep pebbles in the plot, these are turns and stupid behavior of the characters. It's funny when they don't understand, it turns out...
The girl has to sneak into the morgue, which is located in the basement of the father and son. Well, it explains this move that you really are. Then they take it and angrily accuse the film of being stupid. Anyway, the main object for close or immodest attention is the Irish woman Olwan Catherine Kelly, or rather, her snow-white body. Ah, that cleft in the teeth, those bottomless eyes, that juicy brain! The autopsy, no doubt, showed that the patient could not do an autopsy, but try to refuse while such an object is there.
So, the kids and their kids, looking at the night boldly watch this good horror film Andre Ovredal (a cool name!). It is not long, does not chew snot, frightens with doses. Most importantly, as much as you would like to see the awakening of that magnificent body of the dead girl, it was the right decision not to show it, or as if on the occasion of the audience is also not always worth going. It was really nice. Now it’s time 'Troll hunters'. It'll be in the debut sometime.
Andre Ovredal noted in his homeland shooting non-standard fantastic horror 'Troll Hunters' which showed us ancient myths from an unexpected side. The director proved to be a skilled storyteller and drew attention not only in Europe, but also in Hollywood. Having received several tempting proposals for cooperation, Ovredal nevertheless was in no hurry to rush into a major studio movie, deciding before that to make another small film in order to finally establish himself as a skilled director.
Beginning his ascent to the top with horror, Ovredal was not going to cheat on him, and when he saw the film James Wan & #39; The Conjuring', he wanted to make an equally terrible film, from which you can turn gray. Of course, such ambitious plans were very difficult to implement, but ' The Demon Inside' despite everything, it turned out to be a worthy spectacle that even scared me several times.
The plot of the film takes place during one long dark night in a private office of pathologists. His supervisor planned over time to transfer all cases under the care of his son, who is in no hurry to the end of his days to explore the insides of dead human bodies. But he cannot refuse his father in the next case, since the lifeless girl who arrived at the bureau died mysteriously, and her name remained unknown.
Gradually penetrating deep into the cold tissues, the characters understand that something is wrong with the body, internal processes do not proceed as they should. But that's where the fun starts, because terrible things are starting to happen at the bureau. Someone ghost walks along the corridors, the lights flash and it is impossible to get out because of the storm. With each passing minute, the tension increases and no one knows how it will end.
There is an atmosphere in Ovredal's film. Being with the heroes away from other people, we learn all the fear that creeps into their hearts and we understand that nothing good will happen here for sure. The director competently takes the camera away from a direct demonstration of mystical horrors, thanks to which intrigue is almost completely preserved. And the intimacy of the production is only useful for the plot, because there is nothing superfluous here, everything is told in essence.
Maybe ' The Demon Inside' turned out not to be as scary as Ovredal wanted, but what the film can not take away is the ability to keep the viewer in suspense. The second time the movie is not as interesting to watch as the first, but I still believe that for my genre it is a strong work.
Popular writer Stephen King called this horror film one of the most eerie and grim that he has seen. Cinema is really scary, and it pierces its history, from which it is impossible to break away.
I watched this movie late at night alone. The modern viewer is already difficult to surprise or shock. This movie is catchy, and its story is truly frightening. In the place of the main characters definitely do not want to be.
The profession of pathologists has always seemed out of the ordinary, and if you imagine that something mystical can happen in the morgue, where there are a lot of corpses around - and goosebumps running through the body. This movie is good because a terrible and mysterious story was filmed atmosphericly and presented to us with an action-packed plot, although the plot of the film takes place in almost one room.
A girl's body was found in the basement of a house. An officer in charge of the case brings the body to pathologist Tommy Tilden, who works with his son. They need to establish the cause of death tonight, and the heroes have until morning. A father and son are pros, but an autopsy on this girl's body would erode everything they knew and believed in. . .
Dad, all this weirdness started as soon as we got this body, run away!
Watching this mystical horror film, the viewer wakes up the imagination, and that only you do not invent. Cinema seizes anxiously and intensely attention, and it is impossible to break away. The horror is psychological and just wonderfully atmospheric - it gives everything to the viewer that a horror film should give. After watching it, I want to show it to someone and revise it over time.
The father and son of pathologists are played by Brian Cox and Emil Hirsch. As for Cox, he's a respected, Scottish actor, and always plays clean. I personally remember Emil Hirsch for the wonderful and very deep drama with Sigourney Weaver & #39; Fictional Heroes'. The duet of these actors turned out to be the right one, and with them we go through a mysterious and frightening story.
The hair stands on end on the skin when the bells that weigh on the fingers of the dead in the morgue ring. This film is well thought out for such milk, details, nuances, which is why it is so good. Stephen King is right, and before our sinister and interesting story, which pretty girl can scare.
The heroes of this story faced something inexplicable, mysterious, mystical - with what is better to stay as far as possible. Slogan of the film ' There are things worse than death' and this horror film is about that.
'The Demon Inside' (originally titled The Autopsy of Jane Doe) is a British, detective horror film with elements of the 2016 thriller. A creepy movie from the director Andre Ovredal turned out to be a curious thing that I personally evaluate positively and recommend to viewing fans of the genre.

Movies about ghosts and demons were and still are in demand.
These films every year (due to the success of the well-known 'Astrals', 'Spells' and 'Paranormal phenomena') is becoming more and more. There are good films (except for the first 'Annabeli', the entire franchise 'Spells', 'The Exorcist', 'Omen''), but there are also films created to quickly cut money from fans of this theme and fans of horror films ('The Curse of the Weeping', First 'Annabel', 'Cadavour', 'The Devil', '''''''The Devil''''''''''''''''&Ruk;'&Ruk;).
And at one point, when I walk into a CD store, I find this movie. Of course, I was more interested in the criticisms. Of course, now it is not very possible to believe them (as for example, incredibly inflated ratings ' Captain Marvel', ' Black Klansman', ' Ghostbusters' etc.), but if not for them, I would not have met such films as: 'The Void', 'Oculus', 'Monsters of the South' etc.
After taking the film at my own risk, I started watching it. And after watching, I can say that a good film that could be a great and almost the best horror film in recent years, if not for one BUT.
But let's start with the story.
1. Movie wrapping:
Police officers during the inspection of one house find the corpse of an unidentified girl (Uninteresting fact: the film in the original is called ' Autopsy of Jane Doe'); Jane Doe is the name given to dead people who have not been identified. The uninteresting fact is over. After finding him, the police take the corpse to an autopsy. An autopsy should be conducted by a father who has been working for more than one day and his son, a beginner in this work. But gradually they begin to realize that something is wrong with the corpse.
Here is how (to put it briefly) the movie sounds. And I can say that similar movies (except for 'Cadavra' which I watched later). It was 2 years later, I can’t remember. At least the films in which the action takes place in the same place as in this film I can not remember (you can of course remember about ' Saw 4' and ' Pathology' but in the saw it is only the beginning and end of the film, and ' Pathology'...I did not watch.)
Well, with the beginning of the film we figured out, so let’s deal with other components of the film.
2. Actors
Everyone played very well, especially the actress who played Jane Doe - Olwan Catherine Kelly. She played really believable, so in some places I had the feeling that it was a doll or a copy of the actress, but not like herself. So much so that she plausibly depicted the corpse (I never thought I would say so).
3. Operating work.
She's great here, no complaints. Everything is beautiful, fascinating, atmospheric. Operator Roman Osin did his job very well.
4. Music.
The music from this film, as well as the music from 'Astral' 'Spells', 'Away' and similar films, works in the film to the atmosphere. And it works, you know. The truth sometimes infuriated its too loud use in tense moments, but otherwise it was used correctly.
5. Installation
I can't say much here. It is clear not torn, but especially any interesting installation techniques I did not notice.
6. Atmosphere
The atmosphere of mystery is well conveyed. Thanks to the actors, cameraman, editing and music, the film really turned out to be atmospheric.
And it would seem: 'Well, this is one of the best horror films about demons!' After all, all the components for this are here. . .
But...
There’s one big downside: this movie is very predictable. If you’ve watched 6 demon horror movies, it’s easy to predict what’s coming next. Because of the predictability of this film, watching sometimes becomes boring and does not save the situation, neither the actors, nor the cinematography, nor the atmosphere. And that's what ruined the movie.
But still to call this movie bad can not work. Empty, predictable, sometimes boring is still a good movie. And that makes it hurtful. You can see that this movie has so many advantages and it could have been a really great movie, but it didn’t work out. It was just a good movie. And that's very sad. . .
In general, according to the trailer, I did not think that there would be anything terrible, so I went with friends just to watch the film for evaluation. As it turned out, the atmosphere, suspense, the soundtrack in this film is on top. What to say about the plot, well, it is very intriguing, in my opinion, but as it seems to me not revealed even halfway, too much remained behind the scenes, or simply unexplained, only begins to feel something interesting, suggestive of some meaning, as the plot immediately jumps to another wave.
In this film, it is impossible to say that there is a lot of horror, well, such a typical one, there is more than a thriller, indoors, with thoughts in the ear, this has a very positive effect on the movie's viewability, distinguishes it from others. But then there is a problem, the biggest problem of this film, in addition to the almost unsolved plot - the horror component that was shown here - is not necessary here at all, if the whole film was built on the autopsy, radio and light failures, some incomprehensible sounds, but at the same time the main accent, more screen time, would go to the plot - everything was much better.
Bottom line: I was scared, and I was also terribly interested, and if I was happy with the first one, then the second one remained unsatisfied. Such a film should be better, it has everything for this, but instead we get a classically bad ending, a lot of (for this film) action in the second half and absolutely ruined by its undisclosed plot, which in theory could keep in suspense until the last minute, and most importantly - then open, then the film would be just great.

In our time, the viewer can hardly be surprised by modern trends in the horror genre. Ordinary boo moments, loud music or intimidating makeup are rather a pleasant reminder of the past. Current trends are such that much depends on the plot of the film, its originality and unpredictability. These qualities are distinguished by the plot of the mystical horror film “The Demon Inside”.
Synopsis After a terrible blood bath, committed in the house of an ordinary family, the police find in the basement the body of an unknown woman, to establish the cause of death of which is entrusted to pathologists from the local morgue. As they begin their autopsy, Austin and Tommy Tilden discover a series of oddities. But trying to get to the truth, they are faced with an inexplicable mystical force that turned the next night into a real nightmare.
Game of actors Given the fact that the film involved very famous and talented actors Emil Hirsch and Brian Cox, there is no doubt about the quality of their work. Brian Cox plays Tommy Tilden, a second-generation pathologist who is so used to science and logic that he never expected to face the supernatural. Emil Hirsch played the role of Austin, an equally talented pathologist who followed in the footsteps of his father, who, however, easily accepted the idea that there are worse things in this world than death.
Directorship For Norwegian director Andre Ovredal, “The Demon Inside” was the debut in American cinema. What can I say? First, the director tried to build the necessary plot, which immersed the viewer in a tense environment, where the characters are locked in a small room, and around them there is some devilishness, the explanation of which is impossible to find. Secondly, the director did not miss the opportunity to insert a dramatic note, demonstrating a completely peaceful relationship between a father and a son who bitterly remember the death of his mother. However, there is a small drawback in the film: the director pays too much attention to details in the autopsy process, which slightly extinguishes the tense atmosphere, which in such a film should be kept constantly.
Scenario The Demon Inside is the story of how police discover the body of an unknown woman in the basement of a house where a violent crime took place. There are no signs of burglary, and the crime scene looks like the victims were desperately trying to escape the house, and only the girl's body suspiciously shows no signs of violence. The sheriff, trying to get to the truth, entrusts an autopsy to local pathologists. In the course of their work, the characters again and again stumble upon strange things: gray eyes, peat marks all over the body, a disproportionately narrow waist; traces of scars on the internal organs, although there are no scars on the body; a piece of tissue with some symbols found in the stomach. While the characters study the body of the girl, in the building already begins to happen some kind of devilishness: interference in the radio, some noise in the ventilation, the silhouette in the reflection of the corner mirror. But the real nightmare begins when Tilden secretly accidentally notices some symbols inside the skin, the light is cut out, and the invisible evil relentlessly pursues the main characters, not letting go of their paws. In general, the plot concept strongly resembled “Oculus”, “The Blair Witch” and “1408”, since the specifics are similar. But still “The Demon Inside” is a movie with an original plot, so you really don’t know what to expect.
“The Demon Inside” is a good horror film that has all those attributes that distinguish it from the rest of the representatives of this genre, namely: a fascinating detective story where the characters gather information in bits that solve a terrible mystery, and a gloomy and tense atmosphere built precisely due to the escalation of the situation, not boo-moments. Therefore, I can confidently recommend this film to watch.
To begin with, ' Horrors' is a heavily hackneyed theme of cinema, which does not go to everyone, even with almost perfect implementation. The thing is in the very specifics of the genre - horrors should be scary, but many people simply are not afraid of the picture, are not afraid of the supernatural and other popular types of evil that try to justify the belonging of the film to the genre. All that remains is to turn off your head and hope for an unexpected screamer, which is almost always read anyway.
Unfortunately or fortunately, nature has rewarded me with critical thinking, which does not allow me to believe in all the nonsense happening on the screen, so I decided long ago that in films of this genre, the atmosphere of uncertainty and anxiety, the so-called suspense, is valued. Then usually begins the frank heresy, which you look at with your hand at your forehead.
“The Demon Inside” is a chamber film, shot according to a long-established formula for paintings with an otherworldly component: the plot => incomprehensible shit begins to manifest itself => escape who can. In the center of events, hereditary pathologist Tomi Tilden and his son, who works with his father in a private morgue, but thinks to himself that dissecting corpses in the basement is not something he would like to do in life.
Another urgent 'client' turns out to be a girl with a seemingly unexplained cause of death, prompting our couple to put on gloves. That's where the suspense begins to pour in - the more the corpse is cut, the more damn.
In my opinion, the director Andre Ovredal managed to correctly build the narrative, creating the very atmosphere that I wrote about at the very beginning of the review. Actors perfectly cope with their roles - they willingly believe, and the characters do not demonstrate their extra chromosome, which is very often in horror films. All this distinguishes the film against the background of most passable genre analogues.
As a result, the viewer receives strong horrors that can attract suspense lovers and not lower the bar for the quality of the narrative, keeping the viewer in suspense right up to the epilogue.
American writer Stephen King called the film “The Demon Inside” his favorite horror film of 2016.

In the basement of the house where the brutal murder occurred, the body of an unknown woman is found. The sheriff asks pathologist Tommy Tilden to find out the cause of her death before morning. Son and assistant Tommy Austin also decides to stay and help with the autopsy of the unknown, therefore named Jane Doe.
The original title of the film is “The Autopsy of Jane Doe.” This is the first American work by Norwegian director Andre Overdahl ("Troll Hunters). Most of the action takes place in the basement of the house where Tilden's father and son hold the morgue. Half the film we observe a rather naturalistically shown process of autopsy of the corpse of a young woman. It is shown as a ritual with accompanying comments from father and son in an attempt to find out what happened to Jane Doe. I must say, this process is even a little fascinating and looks like such a detective investigation. Then go the screenmers and other set of typical horror.
The main roles of father and son Tilden were played by Brian Cox and Emil Hirsch. They made a good duet. Looked great in the role of a corpse of a certain Olwan Catherine Kelly. By the way, playing a dead man isn't that easy. An unblinking look, relaxed muscles of the face, while lying still - all this is played by the actress at the level, and everything is good with her figure (well, this is for aesthetes).
I watched this film in the company of friends, and perhaps that is why the film did not make a particularly frightening impression on me. In principle, I look at the autopsy of the corpse on the screen without shuddering, and in the future, although the atmosphere tried to catch up with the creepy one, and the authors clearly sought to scare the viewer, I somehow wasn’t too scared. Me and the guys made caustic comments about the behavior of the characters and what is happening on the screen, especially closer to the finale. It was very serious. As Tolstoy said about the “terrible” stories of Leonid Andreev: “He scares and I am not afraid.”
In general, a very non-standard and atmospheric horror film with good acting. By the end, he still slides into the cliches and stereotypes of the genre. I would not recommend it to particularly impressionable viewers.
Here it would seem that ' The Demon Inside' from Andre Ovredal has a serious basis to become a masterpiece by the standards of horror films. But, to my great regret, horror does not reach this level.
The film is based on the popular 'demonic theme'. In this case, the whole plot revolves around a father and son, who need to open and check the body of a young and attractive girl in the morgue. But not everything is as simple as it seemed to them, because there are no external signs that would lead to death.
In this, detective manner, I liked the film in principle. Every minute, the characters discover new details that demonstrate that this seemingly dead person is not as simple as it seems.
The atmosphere in the film is also average, but it is at a very high quality level. I love movies where the action takes place in a relatively confined space and with a small number of main characters.
The disadvantage, which seriously affected my attitude to this creation, is a rather modest ending and not a full disclosure of the plot. The idea of the director is clear, but the plot could be beaten much cooler.
Actors, although they played a little tolerable. The character of Oluen Catherine Kelly, although not very active, but to look at this beautiful girl in all her splendor was quite pleasant. A father and son tandem can also make a picture of themselves an asset.
As a result, interesting, but not powerful. You can watch it.
The original title literally translates as "Opening Jane Doe". Jane Doe is a pseudonym for anonymous or unknown persons. In our case, it is the body of an unknown young girl found at the scene of the murder of a married couple. The body is sent to pathologists, who in turn find out the cause of death of Jane Doe, discovering strange and even mystical clues.
The first half of the film looks in one breath. She's really intriguing. Quite unpleasant-naturalistic autopsy, showing not only the “inner world” of the heroine, but also, perhaps, forcing you to demonstrate your bowels, there is a decent amount of time, opening new facts and heating interest. Even though you’ve already guessed who Jane Doe is and what’s going on, it’s interesting to watch.
But then comes the second part, where paranormal events begin to have a stronger impact on the world around them. Heroes, experienced pathologists, say: “Yes, perhaps ghosts exist”, and with absolutely calm faces watch for moving objects. In general, they act as if such situations occur daily.
As a result, The Demon Within could be an unusual chamber thriller. And there was one location, and there was mysticism, and there was an element of investigation. But the creators decided not to strain, and went on the easiest way – the way of “classic” horror films. It’s a bit disappointing and disappointing.
The bell rings - the kitten in the well.

Who got it from there?
Little Tommy Stahl.
About horror films, immature minds, picky viewers and non-trivial plots: Is it possible to say that nowadays horror films have outlived themselves as a genre, all the techniques have long been tried, all the moves have long been passed, and no new film is able to scare anyone? Then why do they continue to shoot from the simple to the most abstruse? Or do the authors hope to impress young minds? Yes, many teenagers buy and hurriedly take the unknown old for new and interesting. But there is also a picky spectator who ate a dog in this genre. What about him?
Today, in such cases, non-trivial plots or social horror, flavored with mysticism, are launched.
' Dear viewer' - as the creators of these films would say - ' You put your dog aside. We've got something more delicious here'
Sometimes it really comes out ' very tasty' as in this case.
About the chamber film about the autopsy: The film 'The Demon Inside', aka 'The Autopsy of the Unknown' (you forgive me, but I don't like any of the titles - this is already me finding fault) reminded me most of the picture 'The Body' Oriola Paolo. Both events take place over the course of one night in the morgue. But if the first film is pure detective, then in our case, the tape begins as a detective with a hint of a mystical ending, which has in the end.
'Demon', -chamber and it has a very small timekeeping, but in this case this picture is only for the benefit. In some 80 minutes, the authors managed to fit both mysterious murders, and the autopsy of the corpse of an unknown, and two pathologists trapped in the power of mystical forces, and, in fact, the solution to this strange mystery, and even a hint of continuation.
About the main thing, about fears: So what is it worth to be afraid of the audience and is it worth it? Is the picture frightening or just intriguing? She's intriguing. But it's scary. Hmm...
The most impressionable viewers will probably be impressed by the autopsy of the body, since everything is shown almost thoroughly.
For immature minds, noises and shadows in the corridor are suitable.
Well, the most persistent and picky are likely to be interested in the plot.
Everyone has their own fears.
I was most frightened by a dead man with a bell on his leg.
The bell rings ... Is someone coming?
Ding-ding-ding...
I'll tell you right away, it's not a bad movie. And I'm even surprised to see ridiculous fees in the US. Let me tell you more about our market. Why should Autopsy of Jane Doe be translated as Demons Inside?? It's just that. Autopsy unknown" and then becomes clear plot of the film. There really is an autopsy of the unknown, albeit with a mystical bias.
Father and son in their own morgue exhume corpses. Here they bring another corpse of a very strange girl without visible damage, but as it turned out - a lot of internal damage. The beginning of the autopsy did not foretell trouble and then suffered ...
Overall, the attitude towards the film is mixed. Expected to see some kind of family drama, but got a mysticism where everyone died. It made me feel sad. We've got more boo effects. Although the action developed well, but not tightly. The corpse was played by a very beautiful actress and was disappointed that she failed the whole film. But what was done to her in the film was already creepy, knowing that she was a living actress, not a fictional image. There is an autopsy of the chest, and a severed tongue, an opening of the skull, etc. Not "martyrs", of course, but also inspires.
I don’t want to watch it again. Somehow all the action is too direct and without nuances. Maybe it's not too good. It's a pity there's no budget for the movie. And again, I'm sorry that the corpse actress was lying around the whole movie. This is clearly a model and just looking at the autopsy of a lying dummy is clearly not particularly interesting. Another more lively actress appears in the frame a couple of times. This is also disappointing.
In general, you can watch, but do not expect much from the picture. This is the level of the “Lazarus effect” if you watched or “Komatoznikov”.

I'm an aspiring horror movie lover. I didn’t watch many of them, but this movie was the worst I’ve ever seen. No film has ever caused me the slightest fear. Here, two or three times he kept me in prolonged tension. And every time goosebumps ran over the body. Fear and disgust, such as scenes with corpses and their autopsy, should not be confused. I can handle things like that very easily. I was afraid of what was happening, I managed to feel the plot. I don’t think the film is for the faint of heart.
In this film, I didn’t find typical patterns other than blinking lights. Everything was harmonious for me.
I really liked the plot. I was surprised at how interesting it was to watch, because there are only two actors in the film and they are in the same location. Every anomaly delighted me. Yes, there are joints in the plot. I didn’t like the cat scene at all. The decision in the elevator could also be won differently.
Two pathologists in the operating room open the body of an unknown person. The film should be called 'Opening the Unknown' especially about this and the whole plot. But our marketers know ' formula of successful rental ' I do not argue with them.
The ending of the movie was bad, I didn’t like it. If only the last second of the film was removed, that would be wonderful. And if I ended the movie a little differently, I'd get goosebumps all over the credits. I regret that my predictable ending was not filmed by the director.
The acting is not particularly impressive.
I would like to mention Oluen Catherine Kelly. Very beautiful girl. I think she has the most difficult role. Lying still and painting a corpse is very difficult. Especially after the moment when the block was stuck under her head.
Why is the movie’s rating so low? For me, it seemed delightful and opened up new experiences. Stephen King himself called this film his favorite horror film of 2016.

The pathologist service is both dangerous and difficult.
“The Demon Inside” is a very good horror, which I personally learned quite by accident and did not regret watching. Perhaps this is even one of the best representatives of his genre in recent years, because he tries to offer something new than endless haunted houses, and the wave copes with it.
So what does “The Demon Inside” show us? At first glance, nothing special. The two main characters are a pathologist (part-time father and son) and the corpse of a young girl who is brought by a fleeting sheriff as overtime work. That's it. All our small timekeeping by modern standards, we will observe two characters (three if you count the dead body) in the same location. But the film squeezes all the possible maximum out of these components, diligently immersing the viewer in what is happening.
The first part of the film is a kind of detective with a bias in the work of the coroner. Tommy and Austin (father and son, respectively) conscientiously gut the dead body of the girl, with each new step more and more lost in guessing what exactly caused her death. I would never have thought that I would be so interested in watching the work of pathologists, but the film manages to present it properly.
The second half of “Demon...” is a horror component, which is also very good. In the film there are practically no cheap scrimmers, which cannot but please, but at the same time there is a competently created atmosphere and suspense, which many modern "horrors" cannot boast of.
Play actors also for the most part does not cause complaints, the characters turned out to be alive and believable. Before us are two people for whom death is only part of the work and nothing more, and it is all the more interesting to look at their behavior, their attempts to subject what is happening to logical analysis, when they encounter the most mystical mysticism.
In general, “The Demon Inside” (or “Autopsia Jane Doe”) is a really great representative of its genre, which places the viewer in a closed and uncomfortable location in itself, launches two characters there and periodically pokes them with a wand, awakening hidden irrational fears of the dead.
One location, several actors per movie, a rather banal beginning of the plot, what can come out of it? The output turned out very extraordinary work, able to keep the viewer throughout the viewing. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the senior pathologist, other actors were also at the level, although not all of them had at least some action.
The plot has its pros and cons, sometimes it really turns sharply and discourages, sometimes predictable. But he only pulls for once. There is also a whole bunch of #39;boo' moments that hold the title of horror film of the first half of the film, most of which are easy to read.
The second part is based on the plot and awareness of the situation, which takes the picture to a new level. Although stupid screamers do not disappear anywhere, integrity helps to plunge into the problems of the main characters with the head, empathize with them and try to find a way out yourself. Approximately from the middle of the film you can predict the ending, but it does not become boring to watch.
Summing up, I would like to say that with the proper approach to this film, creating the right atmosphere while watching, you can get a lot of emotions and be satisfied from watching.
The action begins with an ordinary house in which the bloody murders occurred, after which the corpse of a young girl is delivered to the morgue. Pathologists who were engaged in the autopsy of the corpse, find strange drawings on the girl’s body, after which the lights turn off in the building and uninvited guests appear.
With a small budget of the film, which is clearly felt in the choice of scenery and special effects, the director was able to create a very interesting and atmospheric film. And although the action of the picture is not very dynamic, but it attracts with its unusualness of what is happening. Usually in such paintings you expect ghosts, living dead or possessed by demons with black eyes who kill people in the most sophisticated way. In the same film, the cliché is present but in some completely different manner, which is fascinating with its originality. Strange songs, visions in mirrors only spur interest.
The cast consists of only two actors, a father and a son of pathologists. They were in the morgue, faced with evil in the wrong place, but did not go crazy and behaved reasonably, not like the average characters of ordinary horror films.
The musical accompaniment is clearly expressed in an old song, which gives goosebumps. A very atmospheric song that fits seamlessly into the film.
In the end, I can note that the film ' The Demon Inside' turned out to be successful. The plot, actors, music, everything was carefully selected and painstakingly, the director, although he used some clichés, but all this went to the film for good. I loved it.
George Martin: Man, Stephen, writing is such hard work. You have to constantly look for inspiration. Sometimes you can’t write two lines in two weeks. Do you understand me?
Stephen King:No.
You know, the genre of yaoi (about boy love) is very often ironically deciphered as “no plot, no climax, no sense” (Yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi). So here's the horror yaoi. It seems that there is a plot: pathologists - father and son - open the corpse of a beautiful maid. But like the plot and no, because then follows a solid set of stamps, quite predictable, recognizable, and from that “without raisins”. All this long ago sang punks from "The King and the Jester". True, there was an artist among the bastards, a dead anarchist in a leather cloak, and here ... Nobody walks here. And it's not even a spoiler. Because everyone knows corpses can't walk. Otherwise, it would be a zombie horror, and this is just a yaoi-horror.
The climax here, as well as the development of the plot, no. Well, it is very difficult to call anything the culmination in this film. No, in principle it is, it is highlighted, but... It's so banal, like a piece of foam in a garbage can, it's not. Stamps more than cover all the delights of the plot and climax. If the latter were there at all.
What a point. He's gone, too. That's an hour and a half of wasted time. A beautiful corpse is not worth your attention. This is probably the only thing in the movie.
What about George Martin and Stephen King? Well, the first lover to savor all sorts of black details. There's enough of that in the picture. That's what the film can scare, so the details of the autopsy. The blood is there, the brains are there. Almost. "Almost" - because stamped stamps (sorry for the tautology) do not even allow you to be scared. You know in advance, now there will be a big "BU!", here is "boo!" smaller. And here, sit, tremble, here the doors are slapped, here the scalpel is waved... Boring!
And Stephen King... He named “The Demon Inside” the best movie of 2016. And therefore, it is time to wrap the genre of horror in white sheets and make it crawl to the cemetery of buried movie genres. I'll kick you. If this is the best film, I am a Beijing opera singer. But let's put it all down to King's fucking taste. He has a selection of the best horror films in general - then his dull.

First, let’s start with the fact that the original title of the film is not translated in this way. The correct translation is "The autopsy of Jane Doe" and no demons. However (I learned only recently, when I was looking for information on this tape), the exact translation could not fully convey the idea of the director and writers due to a misunderstanding. The fact that this name abroad in medicine called unknown corpses until their identification. I agree that the title of the picture was worth changing, but not so much, since, in my opinion, “The Demon Inside” is very indistinct and attractive reflects what is actually happening on the screen.
Before us, alas, another, frank passage horror, which you will remember, probably, two hours after watching either in an ironic manner, or indignant at the illogical nature of the plot and the behavior of the main characters, after which it will be completely forgotten.
The plot of the film tells us that the father and son, working in the morgue, bring the corpse of a girl. The corpse, of course, is very strange and incomprehensible. The beginning is monstrous. Further, a good, probably, half of the film we show the autopsy of the corpse, accompanied by all sorts of oddities - it is not clear where peat came from under the nails, the absence of external damage, but internal fractures, etc. At one point, I was terribly bored, but I suddenly thought, “Maybe this is such an interesting finding of the director?” Maybe I'm waiting for an unchanging location, all the same three heroes - dad, son and the corpse of a girl? Is this going to turn into something philosophical? But, no. Naturally, the radio turns on, a storm starts and cuts off electricity. And then everything happens exactly as we are used to seeing it in these tapes. And, alas, nothing new, nothing interesting will surprise us. All the same, sharp camera movements, pumping music, turning into a sharp sound and everything.
As for the acting, it seems that this is the only thing that is not depressing in the film. No, I didn’t see anything outstanding – the actors played exactly as this kind of second-rate picture required. And here, of course, I omit the strange, sometimes just idiotic acts and ridiculous antics that their heroes performed, because this does not apply to the actor.
Alas, every time, every year, I am more convinced that the horror, apparently, has outlived itself and do something new, at least not outstanding, but simply high-quality and, most importantly, interesting, not predictable and not typical, is unlikely to happen.
It is difficult in our time to find a film that would really surprise and make an indelible impression of what you saw. Especially in the framework of the films of the genre of horror films, which in recent years have lost a sense of originality and some superiority. Introducing into the plot all the same “bright” animals, aliens, maniacs, vampires, werewolves and other “regulars” of the genre. At the same time, almost repeating the plot elements of each other. Among all this, a pleasant surprise for me was this English-language debut of the director Andre Ovredal.
With one of his films “Troll Hunters” of the Moncumenteri genre, Ovoral fully demonstrated its potential as a worthy director of the genre. In addition to everything, personally in my opinion, this picture, raising the bar of quality and level of his talent to an even higher level.
Almost from the very first frames, before us a sample of a real old-school horror film is drawn, which develops outside the usual genres of plot moves, logical schemes and other directions. Hence, it is not surprising that instead of willingly “pouring” the audience with a huge amount of blood, cruel and bloody violence on the screen, Ovredal focused more exclusively on the atmospheric component.
The film was dark, heavy, tense and very intriguing. All the basic rules of the genre are observed very well, and suspense is a constant companion of the viewer throughout the viewing. Imposing BU scenes on the viewer, but not creating the impression of saturation. Overlaid on the viewer unflattering autopsy scenes with a detailed look into the area of the internal organs of the mysterious Jane Doe, but without creating a sense of disgust. All this with a masterfully recreated atmosphere and magnificently selected scenery, gives a truly unforgettable hour and a half of screen time. When, together with the main characters of the film, the viewer involuntarily and willingly joins in the investigation of the causes of death of a mysterious girl and everything that happens around them. Ultimately, bringing the film to a rather unexpected and really strong ending, which is one of the main strengths of the picture.
In many ways, such a strong impression is made due to the magnificent acting duo Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox, which fully plays on the screen the potential of the "theater of two actors". Almost the whole film, keeping in suspense and concentration is his great game. At the same time, without descending to banal squeals, screams, alarming facial expressions and other behavior patterns of the heroes of most modern horror films. Well, it is impossible not to note her... mysterious Jane Doe, which even being silent and literally “not alive” makes a strong impression with its presence in the frame.

The demon inside is definitely one of the best representatives of the genre of horror films of the past year, which gives hope that horror films are still able to surprise and surprise in the good sense of the word. Very atmospheric, intriguing, tense and damn interesting film, to break away from watching which you do not want for a second.
Happy Halloween to Ladies and Lords. More horror movies and all the best.
General impression: It’s terrible (sorry for the tautology). Very spectacular horror turned out in the Norwegian director Andre Ovredal. He was inspired to make a horror movie after attending a screening of The Conjuring. Seeing the movie impressed him a lot! Pervading spirit and forcing you to squeeze into your world and not leave until this nightmare on the screen is over!
BUT! Watch it is worth it, because the horrors are really high quality! With growing music, flickering light, the weather is still weird, an incomprehensible woman and 2 fearless pathologists. Why fearless? This is the first time I've seen such a hero. That's the word! I saw stupid people (when the hero specially goes to see, and what is there outside the door, when the idea is to run away!) I have seen strange ones (when the hero is faced with horror, but for some reason does not run away, but, on the contrary, wants to get acquainted with that horror). I saw smart ones (but then eaten, killed, etc.). But this is the first time that the fearless guys have come across this. If any normal person were on them together, he would run so that his heels sparkled!
To the plot, a well-designed script with an eerie atmosphere and boom-moments. The storyline itself is revealed gradually. Turning on this film, I looked at the timekeeping: Pfff... what can you show for 1.20? And it turns out that it is still possible (well, if you approach correctly!) Having 2 pathologists who turn into real detectives, the director made a whole mystery! Heroes try to understand what happened to the girl, and there are plenty of secrets in her! And so, like the living, you should be afraid, not the dead, and you rationally understand everything with your head that you need to shake your head from the morgue, but how to spite not to come out.
It turned out a good detective, who in timekeeping goes into a mystical horror. The camera work is excellent - large frames, lights, dimming! Top class! I’ve said many times that I love playing 1-2 actors. Then you can well follow the behavior of the character. Well, the work of pathologists (I hate this word) is very detailed, for which becomes interesting. The picture keeps the entire storyline in suspense. In the film there is drama, which makes a horror film even better (the brain needs a discharge!) Now in our time in the cinema, what horrors you will not find, but to realize that it was terrible interesting, this is not every film can boast. One thing disappointed, the secret of the girl remained a secret.
Do you want to get nervous? Do you want to be horrified by what is happening on the screen? Do you want to close your eyes? Then watch this tape faster!
P.S. The theme with the bell was wildly liked, it was scary.
I watched this movie on the advice of my friends. Good and good, they said in one voice.
The plot is generally not bad. However, implementation has ratcheted up. Slowly progressed and the final promised to be pleasant. However, after opening and seeing the writing inside the woman became even more interesting than before. The Illuminati or some sectarian? Conspiracies and sacrifices for the supreme power. But I was told something completely different.
It is difficult to call a demon - the corpse of a woman witch, who throughout the film did absolutely nothing. How? Why and why? Where is this witch from and why is she here? There are a lot of questions.
As for the movie dynami. I don’t mind that it was filmed in one place (take the same 'Saw'). There's sort of no question about that. However, if you shoot the main scenes in one place, then keep the stamp.
The senior anatomist was delighted. This is probably the only advantage.
In general, I rarely watch horrors, but when it picks up, nothing will stop.
Actions in the film from the very beginning make you think and delve into the plot, plunge into the atmosphere of something mystical and mysterious, incomprehensible at first. But at the same time, the film does not cease to ask riddles to the viewer, constantly deceiving and warming up the viewer before the next plot twist.
What are the downsides of horror as a genre? No fear, a lot of clichés, easily predictable plot, poor acting and of course a happy ending.
Here are all the possible disadvantages in principle in all films.
Well, the fear in this film is very specific: it scares not by the sharpness of the action, but by the smoothness, forcing the viewer to delve deeper and turn away from what is happening. In my opinion, this is a huge plus, because not many films shine with the successful implementation of this technique.
Next, cliché. No matter how hard I tried, I could not find any visible blots in the film, noticeable at the first viewing and interfering with it.
The plot, although you can partially predict, the desire to look does not reduce, but even vice versa - captivates, forcing you to ask yourself the question: '.
The acting is quite good, there is nothing to complain about. Again, at the first view.
It's a good movie to watch. For everything in total I put
Usually, modern horror movies leave much to be desired. Now no one is surprised by the disgusting horror that is played in theaters. And the ones that don't even come out on big screens are usually bypassed. It just so happens that I missed this movie out of sight because it wasn’t shown in theaters in my city. It was recommended to me by none other than Stephen King. I came across his recommendation for this film. My opinion does not always coincide with the king of horrors, but almost all of his recommendations I review and this picture is no exception. And I got a complete delight from watching a movie that I have not experienced for probably three years.
Two pathologists are trying to establish the cause of death of an unknown girl found at a brutal crime scene. The first half of the film is spent as the main characters examine the body, open it. And the further they go, the too many oddities appear on the horizon that defy logical explanations. The film is staged in such a way that at first it looks like a kind of detective, where pathologists try to link parts of the puzzle into a single picture. And at the same time, an eerie atmosphere is created that leaves the viewer in suspense every second. In the future, there is a good mystical horror film, however, Russian localizers pretty spoiler plot of the film title. And if you think that the title 'The autopsy of Jane Doe' will not say anything to the Russian audience (in hospitals in English-speaking countries these names (John and Jane Doe) are called unidentified bodies), then the film is simply called ' Autopsy' it was quite possible.
'The demon inside' incredibly atmospheric, does not cause boredom, does not sag, keeps in suspense. Yes, he sometimes uses typical horror clichés, but works with them quite original and they look fresh. In general, the script itself looks quite original and such films have hardly seen the light of day. At least in my rich experience, I can’t remember such.
Thank you Stephen for the recommendation.
