The movie “Terminator: Genesis” can not be called a failure in terms of reviews and box office. Estimates of the fifth part of the cult franchise, once owned by James Cameron, for the most part, rather average than negative, and in the world box office the picture collected, albeit rather modest, but sufficient to recoup the production of 440 million. And if you explain why the film did not fail at the box office with a bang, you can, then why the criticism in its address is not poured in the largest quantities, I absolutely do not understand. The fifth Terminator is not an average movie. It's a horrible, disgusting movie. Let me explain why.
Frankly, sequels of famous and successful in the past movie sagas are usually unsuccessful and unnecessary. But they almost always try to convey the style of the original, to do something similar. Implementation, of course, in such cases almost always lame, but the idea is clear. There is no trace of the song source. I have nothing against so-called popcorn "summer blogbusters" with traditional low-quality humor, superficial characters and effects. The problem, however, is that the original Terminator was never such a movie. In “Genesis” there is neither the gloom and “noir” of the first part, nor the brutality and atmosphere of hopelessness of the continuation. In general, nothing that would remind us that we are watching a sequel, a prequel, a remake or ... I don’t even know what it was.
I am not very afraid in most cases of various script blunders, violations of laws, illogical actions and strange plot twists. In a superhero movie or, say, in action films à la Expendables, I forgive this easily, but after all, the Terminator was good in many ways in that every, even the most insignificant detail is built and justified logically, and there are no problems in presenting what is happening on the screen in real life. The new film is many times more stupid than any part of the same “Avengers”. And this is perhaps the most serious mistake made by the creators. We have something like “Children of Spies” in front of us, only in slightly more serious ways.
The old-new characters played by the new actors are just awful. Emilia Clarke has proven herself to be a pretty good actress, but it’s ridiculous to watch her frown and try to be serious and brutal. Perhaps, it was not necessary to look for an actress similar in appearance to Linda Hamilton, but competently convey the image beloved by fans was one of the main tasks of both the writers and the actress herself. And if Emilia tries to play but does it badly, Jai Courtney doesn't play here at all. He’s funny in Suicide Squad, very convincing in the Spartacus series, but in this movie, he’s just not. Although, of course, it is worth adding that the characters are written so poorly that it would be unfair to blame some actors. And even Arnold Schwarzenegger in the image of the T-800 robot causes nothing but irritation with his idiotic jokes and pranks. But here, again, the problem is more in the script, Arnold himself plays an anecdotally stupid image quite normally. In the first film, the Terminator in his performance is frightening, with the image from the second part I want to make friends, and here he frankly infuriates. How did you get a hero like that?
Staging a few fights is absurd and boring, the effects are average, but I’ll be honest, I’ve seen worse. As a matter of fact, the phrase "I've seen worse" makes me refrain from putting the tape 1 out of 10. "Terminator." Genesis isn’t the worst movie I’ve seen, but that doesn’t justify it. It is difficult to imagine how it was possible to spend the funds allocated for shooting even more incompetently.
The third "Terminator" was a very mediocre tracing on the old parts, which hardly anyone can like, but he at least tried to keep the style of the franchise. The fourth part was watched for a long time and I don’t remember well, but, like, it was just stupid, although in some places very atmospheric and spectacular. The fifth part is terrible in everything, and it definitely does not deserve condescending assessments.

So I got to this movie. I waited a long time because the movie was likely to disappoint. I didn’t expect it to be so good.
The beginning of the film is fascinating and you watch the first half an hour without stopping. Yes, at first glance it seems a little confusing, but you quickly get into the essence of what is happening. There’s a lot going on here – the writers have tried. And it is worth noting that the whole film is solid action, and the probability that you will fall asleep is reduced to zero.
There is a lot of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film. He's number one and the soul of the company. No Kayla Reese or Sarah Connor could outshine the aging T-800. And I loved it. But that doesn’t mean Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor) and Jay Courtney (Kyle Reese) didn’t do their job. Actors look good, though Emilia is sometimes not very convincing in the role of Sarah, but this is overshadowed by her charm. A lot of good humor, sometimes even worthy of applause.
Became a catch phrase "I'll be back" as always in place and sounds once at a strictly scheduled time, do not miss. By the way, throughout the film there are several references to the previous parts. But not too much.
"Genesis" in spirit is much closer to the dilogy James Cameron than the previous part ( "Let the savior come", 2009). I recommend the film to those who want to forget the terrible in every sense of the third Terminator. You won't regret it! My assessment:
Still, sometimes it is very useful to be disappointed in advance and set the level of expectations to the minimum. So, “Terminator 5”, for all the disgust of the advertising campaign and public resonance from the leaked story details, in fact was quite a good continuation of the legendary franchise. Thank you for this, however, not a happy coincidence, but personally the director of the project - Alan Taylor. Like the director’s previous work, Thor 2: The Kingdom of Darkness, Genesis literally captivates with its lightness, energy and immediacy. Yes, you can still make a million claims to the local script moves, but the enthusiasm and fun with which Taylor transfers them to the big screen, if not completely close your eyes to the absurdity of what is happening, then certainly not pay much attention to it.
Fortunately, there is something: Emilia Clark successfully tries on a new role, Arnold Schwarzenegger squeezes the maximum charm from the old, and action and special effects here and there please the eye. Where not, a talented stylization works: the 80s in the new film are technically and atmospherically no different from what Cameron once showed us. And that's kind of cool.
From the start, I didn’t expect anything good (OK, OK, not from the start, but the 15 minutes after the garbage truck came along). Reboot? How can you call a restart such a mess? No, it's a new movie, and Cameron's brainchild has nothing to do with it except a pair of Nike sneakers. The beginning, by the way, was, as many people wrote here, promising - I especially liked what the time machine showed. To see how all sorts of hardware got into our world was really nice. I almost cried. That's the good part.
I don’t know why Cameron personally (!) persuaded this aunt to write the script and under what psychotropic substances she did it. Man, I don't even know where to start. So many questions and no answers! Well, at least, okay, what the hell is going on with this creepy thrash with temporary displacement? Why was Petrosian made of Schwartz? And the big question is, why the fuck are you copying scenes from Cameron? If I have to be nostalgic, I'll go play that movie instead of wasting time on this one. Exceed the original did not work and will not work for anyone – humble yourself, but such babes look too pathetic.
Fuck them, the questions. We can move on to the evaluation of the film itself. For example, if we compare with the first two parts (and without this you can not do at all desire), there is no atmosphere. The atmosphere is that I'm watching the Terminator, not Dr. Dullittle. I'm not even talking about suspense right now. Take Connor and Reese. According to the "fuzzy" they had to mate (yes, so humorous we had the T-800) and after the credits, perhaps they did. But would anyone in the audience call these emotions real? Compare Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor from the original film. It's just a storm of feeling! True love. You can't even think for a second that it's all fake.
And so there is not one storyline, but everything at once. Near the end, you don’t understand what the hell is going on and why I’m watching it. We took and crumpled several films into one at once, added some more husks, sprinkled useless stuff on anyone and decided to serve the viewer under the guise of an exquisite dish. And at the same time, I fundamentally refuse to comment on the images of the main actors, otherwise everything will be even worse, and I will go to mate.
Of course, there’s a good side to it – the movie looks real in one breath. Everything is very beautiful and colorful. All sorts of chases, shootouts, action, etc., etc. If this Hollywood product was called Iron Penis, you could give it a score of 7. And for the disgraced honor of the original film can not give more than 4. Yes, and then for the cute face of Daenerys Burerborn and retired pensioner.

Where did the material come from? I asked the same question once. And you know the answer? Don't ask.

This event revolutionized the production of cool fighters and set the highest quality standard for decades to come. Years later, numerous legends began to appear around the birth of the first Terminator. For example, James Cameron saw in a dream not only a cyborg with burning eyes, but also a killer made of liquid metal. The genius is forgivable fiction - the phenomenal success of his two paintings made any insinuations insignificant. Subsequent sequels of the cult film, shot by other directors, just looked like someone’s bad dreams, and it is still unknown which of them was framed in a more incompetent way. Dreams generated by a different reality can be attributed to anything, including the substitution of common sense with outright absurdity, or devoid of scientific justification for moving along parallel dimensions. Of course, from “Genesis” no one expected encroachment on the glory of the first films, but to fall below “yes came the savior” would be, no matter how twisted, difficult. The dominance of clumsy computer animation was given a dismissal, and His Majesty Arnold returned to his most important post in his career. How not to expect an unexpected miracle, right?
Pushing into his two-hour fanabery of incomprehensible actors, monotonous action, as well as nonsense instead of intriguing mythology, Alan Taylor shot a completely ordinary action movie. However, another, hand on heart, from one of the creators of the popular "Games of Thrones" to expect and had not. The fifth "Terminator" came out even more interesting gum-like "Rise of the Machines", but remained at the level of a typical modern blockbuster, like the next part of "Fast and Furious" or the feeding of "Divergent". Not a hopeless Genesis has preserved only a tiny fraction of the legendary atmosphere that was the brainchild of Cameron. Yes, and what is – banally copied scenes from the original film. They borrowed, however, tastefully, this cannot be taken away, but the subsequent game on nostalgia could not cause anything but irritation and bewilderment. Everything, as usual, has a limit, and he was reached by a zealous film crew. As the film progressed, it was still possible to consider it tolerable, but only until the moment when the title character finally turned from an elderly guard into a ridiculous chucklehead, prescribing his incomprehensible companions to “mating”.
Before the premiere of “Rise of the Machines”, the action icon compared his cyborg with Neo from the sequel to “The Matrix”, not without complacency noting that the T-800 is rushing through the air when it is not knocked off the ground. Twelve years later, Schwarzenegger’s words are prophetic. The Terminator isn't sulfur, but gray. His brutal face is stripped with wrinkles, but he is still two cases farther than any slut that happened to be nearby on the screen. For the habitually cool charisma, you forgive both the abundance of stupid jokes and the tendency to “egg-head” terminology. Hell, Arnie looks great even in a hug with a giant teddy bear! The old king still wants to rule, but the trouble is nothing and over whom. Once the franchise was famous for its logic, thoughtfulness and slenderness, but now, wherever you look, chaos around. In the battles of John Connor's detachment with Skynet's army, there is no shadow of the former tragedy - so superior are the forces of people. In the conditional present, the situation is even worse - as soon as the angagonist declares himself, the legacy finally loses its relevance. The case at least somehow could have been saved by strong acting work, but next to Schwartz only the flawless faces of Jai Courtney and Emilia Clark were revealed. These guys are not incompetent, but everyone, except Taylor, obviously a major failure in the role. There is no familiar tragedy in the words of Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor, no sense of the significance of their every move. They are just playing some game, the rules of which are written on the go. Stirring consciousness post-apocalyptic spirit safely forgotten, and he was replaced only by fake smiles, pompous phrases and shamefully hidden children's rating scenes with nudity.
Ignorant use of the ideas of the past almost always leads to failure, and Taylor, as a good director, should have understood this. However, the final version does not cease to amaze with its dampness. Ironically, one of the slogans of the old "Terminator" was the phrase "no fate", and looking at "Genesis", you realize that the doomsday is not so unrealistic. And for this sinister Skynet is not needed. Just one more such crafts, and the apocalypse will happen - over the army of fans, of course. While in the hands of the owners of the franchise there is an undealing trump card by the name of Schwarzenegger - mockery of the masterpiece will continue, it is definitely pointless to invoke conscience in this case. The old but useful T-800 has not yet become a burden for all those around it, but will one day become, at the same time losing the remnants of its old schoolness. Cinema, focused on the audience is not familiar with the original, collects the box office and is still held at an honorable distance from the lubricant "Let the savior come." I guess we're all gonna have to be patient for a couple of years, and we're gonna have to prepare for some more primitive pearls from Grandpa Arnie. As long as the hero of the past is great, not pathetic, one must seize the moment. Fortunately or unfortunately, the time machine only exists on the screen.
I didn’t expect anything special from the movie. I didn't see any potential factor why it should be good. Only that's why I wasn't disappointed.
It looks like a cheap Chinese fake and a remake of the 1st and 2nd Terminators. Even the liquid metal terminator is Chinese (or something like that, no offense). What is not proof of Chinese participation? In fact, cheap takes from all the cracks and without it.
I’m not a retrograde, but in all cases it’s best to revisit the original source, shot 25 years ago, called Terminator 2. This is an almost ingenious classic and one of the few films that, according to special effects, looks like it was shot yesterday.
Regarding the current Terminator: if you take as a basis a liquid script with a lot of borrowings from the 1st and 2nd parts, good, but never original special effects, inexpressive actors and a weak director's hand, then nothing worthwhile will come out. In the absence of original ideas, the creators suck all the juice from what has already been invented before them:
1. Time travel. In the second part, the ball with the bare terminator took 10 seconds of screen time. Here is a feature, this topic is devoted to tens of minutes of timing: in the ball travel and one and two, especially emphasize the fact that people should be naked, like it is like a microwave and any element of clothing is like foil for the microwave.
Everything is so thorough, as if a dissertation is written on this topic. Although something I do not catch up on the topic of such movements of terminators - why take off your pants when you have a kilogram of 300 iron?
2. Terminators are now not only made of liquid metal, but also of some kind of sherry, with similar properties of fluidity, only with a fear of televisions, speakers and other sources of electromagnetic waves. There is a suspicion that in the next part, if the scriptwriters do not change, the terminator will be from fondue or even from shit, and in the final it will be eaten by the French or stupidly dissolved in domestos. Or vice versa.
Schwarzenegger is now called Papps, he has a favorite word “theoretically”, he strongly resembles a hybrid of Sheldon Cooper and Doc Brown, wise gray, although on the general impression – he is even dumber than before.
The rest of the characters are expressionless: Kyle Reese resembles a Soviet turner - sharpened at least it seems, Sarah Connor - a misunderstanding - without a blonde wig, dragons and without a strong film crew behind her - she does not stand out. If this film was made by HBO with the idea of a “naked” time machine, Sarah would be more fully revealed as a person.
John Connor is nothing. There's a spark in him. J.K. Simmons liked it. But this is purely his personal thing - the appearance of his uncle is funny and catchy, like Jeff Goldblum.
Rhetorical question to specialists in special effects: if the overturning of a bus is shown in a rapid - this does not mean that people in it also feel as if they are in a smooth weightlessness. Why do we find 2 full-fledged people at the exit, and not 2 cutlets?
Somehow the eye cut a truck with a huge tank of something explosive, which eventually explodes (and how else). The cistern is very familiar, it came to us from the second part, but what apologies it is doing on the central streets of the city, in the middle of skyscrapers. As far as I know, we have such a car entry into the central part of the city is prohibited.
Over. The film is not good either as part of the franchise or as such. Those who have not seen the 1st and 2nd parts of the impression will be a little brighter, but only from the chips that were invented and much more successfully implemented in 1991. The film is without much depth and emotion, without an interesting script, made by amateurs for “peeple hawai”.

I didn’t immediately decide to watch this movie. I read reviews before. There were so many negatives that it was not resolved. Although the last two films from this franchise were not particularly praised, they were almost edible. Finally, I dared. I wanted to bring back memories when I watched the first Terminator as a teenager and admired it. That’s just the reality was so sad that for the first time in a long time I did not watch the film to the end.
Screenplay of the film.
It seems that he was made hastily, having smoked well beforehand. It's crazy. Why all these games with the paradox of time and time probabilities? Perhaps the writers thought it was a good idea, a bold move. It was just going nowhere.
To come up with something fundamentally new besides this, too, imagination was not enough. For some reason trained terminators from the previous parts. By the way, here they are much weaker than the previous ones. They were too easy to deal with.
The main villain is Skynet. Wrong again. It feels like the idea was stolen from The Matrix. Only a strict jacket and black glasses are missing. And he's kind of scared.
Game of actors.
It's Schwarzeneger's pity. He shook the old days well in "The Expendables." But he's not here. He's under-playing and underweight. He's too old for that role. And the attempt to justify that he's such a Terminator that he's getting older didn't work either. Let the old man go to rest!
The rest of us are too bad. Especially Jason Clark. Terrible make-up, not in the sense that it is scary in the plot, but what seems fake. It reminds me of a cheap mask. He's a little weak. Is this what a leader looks like to all of humanity? Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor is nothing special either. A beautiful woman, that's just a warrior she should not go, not her type.
The experience of the film as a whole.
There is a sense of frank deception. Special effects are high, there's nothing to say. But there must be something besides them. It's a work, after all! As a result, I forced myself to watch this film several times, but I never got to the end. It's not worth it. Good thing I didn’t go to the cinema. Saved money.
A lot of water has flowed since James Cameron shot the Terminator dilogy, which can already be called classical. Since then, 2 sequels of other directors have been released, the first of them was a kind of banter on the franchise, and the second was an attempt to reinvent it. Honestly, I liked all the parts, only “the one”. The Terminator, which we have remembered since the days of the Judgment Day, it seemed never to return. Genesis was intended to correct this.
The plot is briefly about how Kyle Reese arrives in 1984 (directly in the first part of the Terminator) to save Sarah Connor, but it turns out that due to multiple jumps in time, the past has already been greatly changed and now Sarah has been brought up from childhood by T-800 ( Schwarzenegger). The Trinity is once again preventing the end of the world. If you’ve seen the trailer, it’s pretty much the whole story, so forgive me for the futility of this paragraph. I will try to compensate for this with advice: when you watch the film to the end, scroll the credits - there is a hidden scene.
The film is not the savior of the franchise, don’t have high expectations. It turned out to be an action movie at the level of Die Hard 5 (in both films Jay Courtney played, a coincidence?). Standard summer blockbuster plot, not particularly impressive special effects. But there is Arnie, Mother of Dragons (Emilia Clark) in the role of Sarah, a couple of good actors in the background, and the mentioned Courtney in the role Kyla. And references to Cameroonian parts, even quotes. You can watch it once.
Well, where to start. First, the entire Terminator trilogy (with the exception of the second and this one) was a failure for me. No, seriously, except for the Day of Judgment, I didn't like any parts anymore. But Genesis is something new in the history of cinema. His story is this:
Before the war ended and the people defeated Skynet sent Terminator into the past to kill the mother of John Connor, the leader of the squad of survivors, thereby preventing John from being born and the squad from winning.
To rectify the situation, John sends his soldier Kyle Reese into the past. He must save John’s mother, Sarah Connor, from the ruthless Terminator.
But when a time rift happens, Reese finds himself in the New Past, where a Terminator named Papps educates and cares for an orphaned Sarah. Kyle is followed by another Terminator T-1000. Now Kyle Sarah and Papps will have to destroy Skynet and stop Judgment Day.
Of course, the film is cool, but I do not dispute it has many minuses and film sins. For example, when in the dungeon Sarah hears that someone is coming to her, she takes a gun in her left hand when two Kyles are in front of her, one of which is a T-1000 gun in her right hand.
But I didn't say the movie was bad. I don’t know if I’ll see this movie or not. This will be in your opinion.
A film that really could have been a worthwhile Terminator sequel after mediocre T3 and T: Salvation, but unfortunately, the franchise was like a curse.
What went wrong? Let’s first give at least some advantages of the film, and then I will begin a complete defeat.
Pros:
1. The war of the future, 2029.
All fans of the franchise dreamed of seeing a full-fledged film about the same massacre in the future, shown in the flashbacks of Cameron’s dilogy. T: Salvation tried to follow this course, but the completely merged implementation of the inexperienced director ruined the film. Genesis, though very little, managed to show the war we wanted, although it could be expanded by showing the capture of the Skynet complex in Colorado.
2. A computer model of the T-800, which arrived in 1984.
Here without comment, 96% looks like real, even in the dynamics during the fight at the observatory looks amazing.
3. Filmed scenes from T1 in the same 1984.
You don't get too picky. You can see what they did with effort.
4. Lorna Balfe soundtrack.
The man really tried, well done, there are many good and just good tracks. Arrangement of the main theme from Fidel is also good.
I guess that's it.
Now to the minuses.
Cons:
1. Jai fucking Courtney.
Take on the role of a soldier from the future, where everyone ate mainly rats, just to survive, a fattened rocker from a rocking station - Seriously?
0 acting, a complete discrepancy with the classic Kyle Reese Michael Bien. In general, this single-celled miracle is being shoved into many large projects now: Nut 5, Genesis, Divergent, the coming Suicide Squad. He was lucky to have an agent.
2. PG-13. A franchise like Terminator only needs an R rating! It is very stupid when the T-800 loses the face half without a single stream of blood during a fight at the observatory and loses the skin from a single shot from a grenade launcher. Is it fucking toilet paper? A slight cut after falling from a helicopter is better to keep silent. The producers wanted to catch a cashier on young bodies, but it did not work out.
3. The buggy T-1000.
Totally stupid at the beginning of the film, and how it was leaked... Chinese production has had a big impact.
4. Humor.
In Cameron's dilogy, the humor was light and almost imperceptible. Here constantly fly concerned from Papp jokes on the topic ' mating'
It's not funny the first time, but he keeps asking. . .
5. A disgusting second arch in 2017. If the first one was even less suitable and at least a little atmosphere was, the second - total drain. Poor color correction, Skynet in the form of an OS for tablets, a scene with a finished bus, which was shoved wherever possible. . .
6. Spoiler 2nd trailer.
What is the fun of showing the main plot twist of the film in the trailer, because of which people were no longer so interested in going to the film, knowing the plot? Explain to me, marketing geniuses, please.
7. T-3000/Nano-John Connor dialogs
Another attempt to turn the Terminator into Marvel pop, which, heh, also failed.
8. T-5000.
Skynet in physical form, traveling between the multiverses Oh, that's it. Although, what is funny, Matt Smith this type of bad guy is very suitable.
9. Special effects.
To produce a film in 2015, many of the special effects of which are worse than the T2 of 1991, you need to be able to. The T-800 without skin looks like an early toy on the PS3, the T-1000 is a very mediocre, cartoonish helicopter chase that looks so pornographic that it’s embarrassing.
I have mentioned the most noticeable ones in my opinion, but there are many more. The script of the film is not the worst, the implementation of some moments was tolerable, but the thirst for profit producers to get the box office and ' poppies' the franchise played a cruel joke. It's a shame, especially Arnold, to be in such a thrash. The franchise is finally buried, and only the one who created it can resurrect it – James Cameron.

Even as it became sad, there are two great cult films in the Terminator franchise, there are two mediocre, but rather watchable sequels, and now there is Genesis, and this is a real failure.
It is difficult to imagine a film so mocking at the source, it crookedly copies a lot of great scenes of the first pictures, but it always does not fit the place. References are one thing, and reshooting entire fragments of the frame in the frame already smells like the most ordinary lack of ideas, or at least phenomenal laziness.
And the script itself is an example of a mixture of laziness and strange decisions. Bonus attaches a lot of plot holes and questions left unanswered. I am still wondering how you can remember events that happened not to you, but to your counterpart from the parallel timeline.
Well, a separate column is a total discrepancy between the current characters and the images that have already developed over the years. Arnold Schwarzenegger has quite successfully returned to his most famous image. For a perfect immersion, he'd still have to take out all the out-of-joke stuff. But Emilia Clark is not once Sarah Connor, there is no inner strength and responsibility in her. About Kilp Rhys performed Jai Courtney I do not even want to talk, he only causes irritation.
Terminator: Genesis is an attempt to finally collect money from fans who are ready to watch any sequel to your favorite series.
“Terminator: Genesis” is perhaps the worst of all the feature films called “Terminator”. Mostow’s and McGee’s films are at least more serious, though they are far inferior to Cameron’s. But “Terminator: Genesis” is not serious. And the whole problem is not even that the filmmakers ignore the events of not only “Rise of the Machines” and “Salvation”, but, in fact, “Judgment Day”, while not ignoring the first part, which, in the end, does not make the film either a full-fledged restart, nor a remake, nor a sequel, nor a spin-off, but makes it generally unclear what. The problem is that the creators of the film violated, in fact, the main law of the story about the Terminators – in the future you do not need to go, it is not predetermined. Into the past – please, and the future we create ourselves and can prevent all without exception terrible events that may or may not happen.
Why do Sarah Connor and Kyle Rees go from 1984 to 2017 – why not go to an earlier year to have more time? But the filmmakers spit on logic from the high bell tower. A lot of special effects, not to say that the best quality – we see. Logic, we can't see. By the way, special effects – some kind of crisis era now in this regard in general. If you want to make a film that will represent something special, something new, Cameron managed to do it more than once, not twice, and not so long ago. But the filmmakers did special effects of that quantity and quality just to make money. Oddly enough, they managed not so badly, although the film, in a good way, is not worth watching in the theater any more than McGee’s film. In general, if someone wants to watch a movie with a lot of special effects and high quality, it is better to watch something different. If you want to watch a film with good acting and adequate narrative logic, then there are also many films that are worth watching instead of Genesis.
The acting in the movie is lousy. Jason Clarke is very annoying as John Connor. In fact, this is the first time that John Connor's facial expression is quite arrogant. Neither Edward Furlong nor Nick Stahl nor Christian Bale did, playing John Connor, such a vile arrogant facial expression. Jason Clark has been doing it since the beginning of the film. And that, frankly, is extremely annoying. The rest of the actors were not particularly impressed - except that Schwarzenegger delights in scenes in which he depicts a stupid smile. Emilia Clarke undresses beautifully, in a scene where she is going to go into the future. But all, of course, within the framework of the PG-13 and the Russian 12+. In general, the question arises – why should a series of films, started by the R rating, continue with films of much lower rating? Do you want teenagers to see the classics later? It's not that serious.
Especially annoying is the final adventure of the T-800. The filmmakers are clearly disrespectful to their viewers, because how to take it seriously? Is this film part of a new trilogy? Sad.
Result.
There is no desire to take this film seriously, not only to give it some grades. It would have been better if they had made a normal fifth film in the series, along the line with the apocalypse in 2004. In principle, it remains unfinished, and it was still possible to save it in principle. It would be better if a normal restart was shot, where everything would be new, with a new script, a new cast and the old core. But what they did is a really disgusting film that doesn’t stand up to criticism.
Terminator: Genesis! A new film about machines and it has Schwarzenegger!
Schwarzenegger has returned to his iconic role in a place with new actors in the Terminator universe.
When you watch this movie, you see that you have a new terminator with dark shades in the spirit of the first two parts. I really liked what 2029 showed. But alas, the future of 2029 is very small in the film, and it could be that this war would be shown on the scale of the Lord of the Rings war.
In the trailer, the audience could already see the time machine. When you watch the movie, it looks really cool. This is where the timeline has changed, and as shown in the trailer, we can see how the machines were sent back to the very first Terminator in 1984. For this, the creators of the Terminator have a great bow and respect, not to mention how much effort they spent on creating a young Schwarzenegger from the very first part. Here it looks really amazing and no longer catches the eye of computer graphics, as it was in the Terminator: let the savior come.
We were shown in detail how the plot changed in that time from the Terminator in 1984. And the scene of young Schwarzenegger and who he is now really cool.
Arnold Schwarzenegger - Iron Arnie is back in the legendary Terminator movie, which in the past made him a super celebrity. In this film, Arnold is 67 years old. He is no longer young and is still active in the gym. For the film, he put himself in good shape. Of course, the aging face would be difficult to hide, although for a certain time in the film he was in makeup that rejuvenated Schwarzenegger, but then the creators decided to “turn the lever” in the other direction and presented an aging cyborg to the viewer. It is correct because, given the age of the actor, this is the most suitable option.
Arnold Schwarzenegger — The T-800 is not just shown here as a cyborg defender Sara Conor. Over time, the viewer sees how the T-800 found Sarah and rescued her. Then everyone realizes he's Sarah Conor's "Robot Father." There is some drama in this and it is put very well.
Again, if you look from the other side, the director together with the writers could devote much more time to the person of Schwarzenegger. We could finally show the viewer where the cyborg with Arnold’s face came from and why his face was on the cybernetic organism. If they had spent more time on the screen and thought deeper, the film would have been even more interesting. Alas, this did not happen and we were shown only Sarah's defender, with shootouts and chases. There were funny moments with Arnold, and from time to time he looked funny and said something. Again, in my opinion, it was necessary to show the viewer everything moderately. The film should be more serious, not comedic.
Emilia Clarke – Although Emilia played Sarah Conor, the warrior-mother of the defender of humanity, she does not reach the Sarah we were shown in the first two films. What to say, if you remember the same Linda Hamilton and put in her place the now famous Emilia Clark, then she is not suitable for Linda. Again, on the other hand, who else could play the very Sarah that Linda was. I have to watch Emilia on the screen. I have to get used to this actress.
Jai Courtney appeared before the audience as Kyle Reese, a resistance soldier from the future. First, the new Terminator changed the timeline, and that’s good. Reese didn't expect much and wasn't prepared for some turn of events. Again, as an actor for the role of Reese, he loses to that Reese actor Michael Bean. Bean had a powerful charisma, and the way he talked about the future and John Conor really inspired him to be in that apocalyptic future.
Jason Clark is the newest John Conor. At first, I didn’t like the fact that there were new actors in the new Terminator. When I started watching this movie, I realized that Jason Clarke is certainly not Edward Furlong or even Christian Bale, but the way he played in this movie is respectful. Gestures, facial expressions, voice in principle all this makes Jason the new worthy Conor. But he could play Conor again Christian Bale, but his shooting schedule did not allow him to appear in the new film. Maybe we’ll see Jason Clarke or Christian Bale someday, or maybe he’ll be lucky enough to bring Edward Furlong back.
Lee Byung-hon - this actor appeared in the image of the Terminator T-1000, previously played this role by Robert Patrick. Many people did not like the fact that the role of liquid metal put an Asian actor. To be honest, I wasn’t happy after watching the trailer. But in the end, when you watch a movie, you don’t really cling to that person. The only thing that bothered me was that he appeared to be a rapidly regenerating terminator. By the way, the role of liquid metal could again be played by Robert Patrick, yes, the same of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Alas, the actor admitted that due to health problems he could not play the Terminator.
The viewer has to get used to new actors, in particular with Jay Courtney and Emilia Clark. Of course, new actors such as Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney will never be on the same line as those unforgettable actors from the first two installments of The Terminator. Although a few years ago there were rumors that one of the directors was thinking about returning the original cast to the film and rejuvenating them with computer graphics, this did not happen. Sometimes it is annoying when you watch a new film about the Terminator, and in it again and again change actors (especially Conor).
In general, the film is very good and there is nothing to complain about. It seems that the special effects in the film are excellent and the soundtracks are well selected, yet the genesis lacked the seriousness that was in the first, second and third parts (and sometimes in parts 4). In addition, the film is saturated with pathos and jokes because of what it loses its uniqueness.

P.S. Those who left as soon as the credits began, you will be surprised.
Now, perhaps, the fifth part takes the third place in my personal rating - after the great second ("Judgment Day) and the strong and gloomy fourth ("May the savior come).
Alas, the first part, though classic, now looks pretty naive, although, of course, Arnold is there at the peak of form. But... special effects are very outdated, and to review this film personally does not pull me.
The third part (in fact, one big campaign video of the “terminator of California” Schwarzenegger) with a stupid whiner John Connor, an idiotic casting and a miserable script, may it be cursed and forgotten forever.
So... The fifth part pleased unsophisticated, but specifically relevant humor – this was so lacking in the previous! – albeit the old, but strong Arnie (" Yes, I am old). But not useless!); a good selection of actors for the role of Kyle Reese and John Connor (in my opinion, of course); an abundance of gags, references, and even direct quoting of the previous parts of the “terminatorian”; well, and good dynamics of action.
Yes, the film is full of blunders and inconsistencies. For example, I really want to ask the writers to somehow decide how and where, after all, John Connor and Kyle Reese met. Like the fourth part or the fifth part?
Or: why the terminator T-800, like which in the second part of John Connor after unwise switching the chip easily taught to communicate and behave like a human being – here (for many years remaining next to Sarah) behaves like a dull mind, awkwardly copying even a human smile?
The situation with the “alternative worlds” generally turns everything into a vinaigrette, where the scriptwriter can calmly hang out, turning Skynet into a “cloud” application from the App Store. Progress, however.
* * *
But all this becomes nonsense - when such a familiar alarming roar of drums and a clanging musical theme "Terminator" sounds from the screen, forever memorable to those who watched the first part still on murky TV screens of video salons.
When the red eye lenses light up, and the chrome skull of the T-800 bristles from the screen.
When eternal is heard again. I'll be back."
Once again in the world of the future, a crunchy steel foot crushes human skulls, digitally restored young Arnold demands from punk: "Your clothes." Give it to me. Now! Kyle Reese looks at that Polaroid shot of Sarah Connor.
"The future is not predetermined," sounds voice-over. Final credits.
Before watching the film, he was upset to learn about Jai Courtney in the lead roles, but then was happy that this role did not go to the same Hardy, which would spoil his track record. In short, by other actors, the closest to the original, oddly enough, was Emilia Clarke. After the mother of dragons did not believe in success in this role, but she was the same Sarah Connor. Schwartz is good, but how pathetic were the attempts of the creators to ridicule the viewer, making a local fool out of a killer machine. For what is the abuse of Arnie?
As a lover of dark and scary T1 and T2, much and much in the plot caused questions, and often even bewilderment. Starting with ten years of preparation for the meeting of the liquid terminator, which eventually led to hand-to-hand with the risk of leaving the main characters without their main bodyguard. Finishing the logical hint of a sequel at the end of the film. The list can go on for a long time, but we will not burden the younger generation, who did not see the first parts of the Terminator. For them, this film will be a passing average, they will not notice that the whole film is a solid cliché of the previous parts, seasoned with jokes in the style of the eyes of a terrible movie. Many of them may have questions for the plot, but soon they will forget, leaving in memory only a general impression of the film about the time jumping of a stupid team of a young pitcher, a mother of dragons and an old robot.
Despite the investment, the film did not pay off even in terms of special effects. They look cheap, and the scale of what is happening is not visible even more, that in the future, that in the present (a separate hello to the terminator-driver of the truck, poor fellow, wanted to destroy all living things, and became a long-range battle).
Bottom line: I can not advise fans of the series to bypass this film, for self-development and ideas about how not to do very even fit.

Terminator is a franchise created by James Cameron in 1984. Films that gave us the famous killer cyborg performed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first two films were real breakthroughs, each for its decade. The third part was a good continuation with a lot of humor, effects and other things. The fourth part was a great film, which was supposed to be the beginning of a new trilogy about the war of people and machines, which everyone wanted to see. But, the viewer became spoiled, all slowly began to become movie lovers and the fourth film got controversial reviews and the future for the franchise became foggy.
After the alleged box office failure, the rights to the franchise for a long time walked hand in hand. And now it was finally announced that the fifth part about the Terminator will be released. The film will be Arnold himself, and the film will shoot a certain Alan Taylor, who has already distinguished himself with a good film "Thor 2" and a lot of episodes of everyone's favorite "Game of Thrones". Production went, Arnie sat on (judging by the photos from the shooting) a decent course of certain drugs, Taylor called half of the filming team from everyone’s favorite series into the shooting process, and the film itself wasn’t long before the release propiarized by maestro James Cameron himself. What was happening on different forums, and in general on the Internet in the topics for this picture, it is better to be silent, because, with each photo or at least some information about the film, and even more so after the release of the videos, the bubbling of brown liquid from moviegoers reached the extreme aisles.
The film tells us about how Kyle Reese arrives in 1984 and after passing through fire and water in the first minutes of arrival, he meets Sarah Connor and Paps, aka T-800. Then the action is transferred to 2017, where Skynet himself with the heroes of the second film, makes the application Genesis for modern gadgets, the inclusion of which should start a nuclear war. Well, Reese, Sarah and the Terminator must stop them.
As you can see (I am sure that many have already seen the film), the plot of the film ignores the events of the third and even more so the fourth part, which is very bad. The plot of this film is stuporous from the first ten minutes. And after watching the movie, more questions arise than they did after watching the previous two films.
One of the main claims to the film was and will be discussed for a long time. Because their presence only spoils the impression. Firstly, the excellent acquaintance of Kyle Reese and John Connor in the 4th film is remade for a very confused rescue with the subsequent instant maturation of Reese and not a drop of not aging John. Second, the re-shooted elements of the first film and the change in the course of the first two films. Kyle Reese from the future, where people starve and die. T - 1000, played by an actor of Korean origin. A thousand of them.
A little, poorly selected cast. I have no complaints about Jay Courtney . He does a great job of supporting roles, especially if they are tough guys or bad guys. Fighting soldier Kyle Reese came out normal. Emilia Clarke coped well with the role of Sarah Connor, and of all the young candidates for the role she came the best. And here is Lee Byung Hong as T — 1000. It could have been ignored, but still, what the hell? Technology is not the same as it was 5 years ago. It was possible to digitize the face of Robert Patrick and simply paste here. Jason Clark, aka the new John Connor - a catastrophic failure in the history of casting in this franchise. Maybe in the epics about monkeys he plays well, but here he does not even try. And besides, he doesn't look like a brave leader of the confrontation, but like an emaciated office worker. And curly. Everyone's favorite Arnold is fine here. Over his drawing for some reason not lazy, and he himself looks good in his years.
Since the 20th century and technology have stepped far ahead for a long time, the question remains: Why do we need to re-shoot episodes from the first movie and remake Schwarzenegger from there? You could cut those episodes out of the first movie and mount them here. And in relation to T — 1000 they did not do very well, maybe Lee Byung-hon and his mouth and hairstyle are somehow similar to Robert Patrick, but this is not Patrick, frankly, junk. Speaking of Connor, it is already clear that the creators of this film with great figment treated their creation. Wasn’t it possible to give some 10-20 million Christian Bale, because he just chicly entered the image in the 4th part, and here, so, probably, would be just delightful. After all, a fit resistance leader with a soldier’s haircut and sharp cheekbones, coming out of the explosion (and in general in the whole film), who would be a villain in this film, would look much better than a curly guy with an ever-open mouth who has a second chin. Marvels in this regard, well done, did not regret to give money Robert Downey Jr, so that their hero was and remained charismatic and cool.
The Terminator movies have always had quite a well-directed action that was perfectly distributed throughout the film. There's no such thing. No, there are makings, you can see that money is sometimes spent wisely. But put it without drive, without any raisins. The turnaround of the bus, which everyone liked and many perceive it as something original, is not an innovation in car tricks, it was already in “The Dark Knight” and “The Island”. Michael Bay, even in Green Hornet something similar flashed, only with a pickup truck. And there's plenty of that in the movie. All the action in this film is absolutely unforgettable. Even in average budget films and TV series, it is much better and more driven. And computer graphics now will not surprise anyone, such previously released paintings as the franchise "Transformers", "Avatar", "Pacific frontier", etc. - a vivid confirmation of this.
"Terminator: Genesis" - a vivid proof that the profit on the old name takes its toll, without any attempts to make a movie with a soul or a drop of respect for the source.
Conclusion: This is a highly publicized film by Cameron himself (seeing for a considerable sum) and Schwarzenegger, made with carelessness and absolutely raw, which had enormous potential, which, to put it mildly, was overlooked. There are rumors that closer to 2020, the franchise rights will return to Cameron. In the meantime, there have been difficult times for the franchise with an unknown beggar. Alas.
P.S.: Terminator: May the Rescuer Come is a real work of art compared to this film.
No preludes.
No prefaces.
No introductory words or too much water.
The idea alone is unique in its kind, an example of a truly original and worthy return to the notorious franchise. Similar returns to the cinema in recent years - though a pond, but the title of the best raises it "Genesis". A picture that is neither a remake, nor a continuation, nor a completely new project.
It's all together!
I would venture, and not without reason, to suppose that in principle we took up Genesis by freeing Schwartz from political dependence. Yes, there was a fourth with Bale and Worthington, but, despite all his goodness, he rather shared than pleased all the fans of the good old Terminator, so about him now – not a word! Now we are completely and not without pleasure immersed in a new and at the same time old universe of Terminators and Connors combined.
Any sane person has absolutely logical questions: how could someone be resurrected, someone reborn, someone to create and something upside down to change and all in one movie. Turns out you can! The main reason why everything happens in one way or another in the fifth is that there are several parallel presents and futures. Don't go into it any further. You do not need to know and understand, although you can (if you can, of course). Just take that fact for granted. Well, if you are still an inexorable why, then note that even the smart and main Kyle Reeves, and Sarah herself, did not understand what was happening in the film. Despite all Termi's scientific arguments. So, relax and just watch the movie.
There's a lot to watch, by the way. No, I won’t say that Genesis is a breakthrough of special effects or something powerful and weighty like the first two parts. Nope. But one thing is certain, and that’s the main thing – the film is interesting.
There's actually a lot of fun. It is interesting in itself about parallel times. It is interesting to meet and see with your own eyes incomparable references to the first two parts. (Arnie's computer eightieth is just something!) That's where it really is! It is interesting to see a new actress (Emilia Clark), so similar to the past Linda Hamilton. It is interesting to see Jay Courtney in something real and human. An interesting new model of thermals in the face of a modified John. Interesting idea. Interesting reproach to all of us for our smartphones and iPhones combined. The relationship between a man and a woman who know that they must love each other. The rivalry between a man and a sentimental machine is interesting. Interesting... a lot of things.
I understand that in the yard of the XXI century, as it were. But in Genesis he really showed everything he could. I mean the century. And technology. After all, no matter what happens and no matter how fluttered (as in our native “Night Watch”), turning over in the air, it is all as real. Like alive.
Everything is beautiful from an aesthetic point of view. Everything is modern and modern.
The impactful appearance of Arnie? Well, God said that. Not without him. Another thing is that the role of the famous bodybuilder is a role rather from the rubric of Madame Tussauds... although not in full. Still, the creators managed to fit him, the good old Termi (but, as I realized, not the Termi that was before), organically into the story. Even somehow very successfully and harmoniously he is present in the frame. Not much, but the impact is undeniable. All is well with our old friend! And that chilling look and, oh, my God, it's an incomparable smile. No words! Bravo!
Let me draw your attention to the fame and power gained over the past couple of years. K. Simmons. Yes, yes, the one from “Obsession” and “Spider-Man”. I am proud of him here and now! But the inclusion of his character in the plot of the film is quite attractive. It was as if everyone wanted to invite J. K., but did not know how to wedge it better. Sorry...
The musical atmosphere is at level. Which is not surprising, given the involvement of Hans Zimmer in the project. Well, the original at the end is, as they say, taken for granted.
The ending was perfect. Here and continue the story (although somehow ridiculous will look another time travel or “return” Arnie), and at the same time you can stop.
But most importantly, the film turned out to be not as solid and formidable as the first or second, but it is in a good light and pleasant. He's even funny in places. But not boring at the same time. Intrigue always reigns here!
Tell me what's going on. I'll believe you, just tell me.
In short, we are saving the world!
- It's fine.
It's like, in between, it's like a quest to go through. Is it possible to take the characters’ struggles seriously? Yes, it is very funny, but is it appropriate?
An image that has occupied my imagination since I was a child, one that I've been waiting for every time you see "Terminator" on a weekly program, is an image that makes me hope that the state of viewing can be repeated in a new story or a continuation of an old one. The original backbone of children’s interest is the metal skeleton of a robot left after the combustion of human flesh, which moves with characteristic computer effects, for our time – this outdated technology, but it was she who once caused and still causes awe, attention, admiration and interest. Next on this backbone is the image in human flesh, the figure and face of Arnold Schwarzenegger, at the age of 1984, perfect for forming the image of an inhuman machine that performs only the actions programmed for it. Then the fear and helplessness of people before the actions of this machine, their absolute unwillingness to resist unprecedented for their time technologies and the power of electronic intelligence. A beautiful, naive, feminine, weak girl he must find among many others of that name. And exhausted by the terrible war, a soldier who apparently grew up in incredible hardship, and came to the past to save this girl. He is also powerless before the Terminator, but at least he knows about it, he is knotted in struggle, and is determined, he is in absentia, in love with this girl from a faded photograph, he fell in love with her in the conditions of endless war, hiding among the ruins from soulless killers roaming everywhere.
What do you think of Terminator 5? Anything that has anything to do with the original story is ridiculed, in almost every Terminator phrase, as if this machine was programmed to joke more than defend. Yes, there were jokes in Terminator 2, but they were caused by the situation, logically justified and did not devalue the atmosphere. There are appropriate jokes, and there are inappropriate, Papps jokes about the pairing of Kyle Rees with Sarah Conor completely devalue the reality of what is happening and tune into the fact that all the events and actions of heroes and villains are a banter. When in Terminator 2, the boy teaches the robot to smile, and he tries to portray a smile - it's funny, but sad a little, and appropriate, and does not affect the perception of what is happening.
Selection of actors for the main roles is simply terrible. Kyle Rees is a very important character for perceiving the story, and judging by the “plot” the main character of “Terminator 5”, does not fit into the picture at all, as a soldier from the future, some rocker with a wooden face that would be more suitable for the role of Cusie from “Univer”, even as a parody of Kyle Rees is not suitable, because for this there should be at least one logical link with the appearance of the previous actor. John Connor is a key figure in the war between robots and humans. It is enough that each time he appears completely different from what he was before. Classic, the image of grown-up John at war, looking through binoculars, with a scar on his face. Each time in a new film, he is played by an actor of a completely new type. It frankly devalues the image. In Terminator 3, this appearance of the character and his way of life were at least explained (the future was changed in the previous part, and therefore John’s organizational abilities were not in demand, he did not find a purpose in a peaceful life...) and this also justified the parody of the third part to some extent. Moreover, the effect of humor in it arose not from the vulgar jokes of the Terminator, but seemingly by itself, randomly. Well, the only really safe way to get John Connor out was to put him in the coffin. The policemen who saw the man with the coffin, who thought it was possible that there was a bomb, the only thing they could do was call this man to put in the coffin, it all looked natural, but at the same time, it caused natural laughter, but I personally did not stop worrying about the heroes because of this laughter.
John Connor here is something completely different from the previous ones, and it is not clear why he should look like this. His attempts to say some pathetic words can not make him believe. This is not the leader of the resistance, this is the man who portrays him. But even if you leave the type itself, it turns out that the role itself does not correspond to the level of the leader, the Attempt to make him some new antagonist, and even something in between a living creature and a nanorobot, using already exhausted computer graphics resembles a sequel to Spider-Man and all the characters of his Universe. His villainy and rebirth are no more believed here than his leadership and desire to defeat robots before rebirth. Moreover, this alleged twist was revealed in the trailers, and we knew in advance that this would happen. Then why watch this movie?
Sarah Conor looks like a face and in some ways it was even nice to try to see the old character in another person, to recognize him in a different person. But how can you ignore the fact that it is 11 cm lower than the original? But this is not the main thing, the main thing is that one girl in principle could not be called low, and here we have a clear contrast. If the director conceived to portray a girl in the past, already prepared for a meeting with the Terminator, then she should look stronger in all respects, any small thing in the form of growth can reduce the effect of such an idea. But they don't even try to smooth it out. The creators, on the contrary, highlight and poke fun at the height difference between Sarah Conor and her Terminator-father. It would be appropriate if it were some sort of original story, but it’s totally inappropriate if we consider this film to be a continuation of the story.
Time entanglement, interesting in itself, forcing you to think and create more surprises, in this case does not work at all. It only reduces the whole idea of history to absurdity. When you realize that this is how you do not consider this story, you do not see anything sublime and serious in it.
In general, everything is so terrible that you can watch it only for the sake of nostalgia for a once really bone-breaking story, in which logical and temporal inconsistencies were completely irrelevant, because everything else in it seemed real and real.

2015 was a year of remakes. It’s particularly interesting to see how the characters’ image and distribution of roles in the film changes to reflect current trends.
The new “Terminator: Genesis” is surprisingly confusing. This powerful plot tangle of intrigue keeps in suspense until the very end, completely capturing attention and making you wonder what will happen next. Watching this movie is like riding on a fun attraction: bright, fast, exciting and, most importantly, dizzy. But this is not surprising if you remember that the director was Alan Taylor, who was lucky to direct such series as “Game of Thrones”, “Lost”, “The Sopranos”, “Underground Empire”, and also to shoot one of the most successful films in the Marvel universe – “Thor 2: Kingdom of Darkness”. The plot of the film unites all the previous films, transferring the characters to 2029, then 1984, and then almost to our time, not forgetting to demonstrate allusions to the original stories.
Older Schwarzenegger again gives out terminator smiles and lets out peculiar jokes. If in the first film his hero acted as a villain, in the second he played the role of a friend and, to some extent, a father, then here he unambiguously receives the nickname Papps, which translates as “daddy”, and shows quite fatherly qualities for young Sarah. This is the logical development of the character. As for Sarah herself, Emilia Clarke, quite in the spirit of our time, easily combined beauty, femininity and strength (the original Sarah, as you remember, in the first part appeared as a naive girl, a rambo, and in the second – a woman). But Jay Courtney, whose hero gave the initiative to Sarah, hardly managed to replace the melancholy and fatalistic Kyle Reese from the first part.
Not less curious was the development of John Connor (Jason Clark). It is very interesting to analyze how logical the result was. If in the first part John found a friend in the person of the Terminator, in the fourth - a brother, then in the fifth he, let's say, managed to understand Skynet. Jason Clarke is the perfect fit for the role (and such a strong difference in the appearance of Bale, playing John in the fourth part, and Clark allows you to immediately draw some conclusions).
In 2017, the spread of new technologies is possible more than ever. In fact, when I was watching the movie in the theater, the story about Genesis, which on a certain date should be installed on all signed devices in the world, inspired me to think about Windows 10, which was also about to be updated for free on all Windows devices. But, as it turned out, big changes in the plan of the heroes it did not make. What was the plan in the second part – it remained. The scale and scenery have changed.
With the abundance of special effects, beauty and dynamism of the picture, the authors of the film lost the atmosphere of hopelessness and a certain fatalism of the original films (actually, part 4 suffered from this). “Terminator: Genesis” turned out to be much stronger and more whole than 3 and 4 films, and I got a great pleasure from watching, if not for one but – against the background of a huge number of action films that were released in different variations during this time, the new “Terminator...” looks just like another good action movie with a slightly more twisted plot, good special effects and decent acting, and the use of the known universe in such a film plays more in the minus than in the plus. It seems to me that the audience is already tired of the stories that go on the nth circle, and few people will be upset if the sequel is not filmed.
To be honest, I didn’t expect anything good, let alone stunning, from the fifth Terminator. I didn't even watch the trailer. But I had no fears that the name of the great cyborg-killer would be called a naturally cheap performance, simply mocking the original Cameron tapes. But it was a shame, as it turned out.
“Terminator: Genesis” is a clear example of how you can bury an already half-dead franchise. Yes, that the third, that the fourth films were simply illiquid in most aspects and did not carry almost any semantic load. But if “May the Savior Come” roughly speaking, did not realize its potential in a new setting and visual concept, and “Rise of the Machines” simply turned out to be a stupid and soulless action movie, then “Genesis” managed not only to collect all the most egregious shoals of the above, but also frankly spit in the face of fans of the first two films.
The plot of this creation is not even absurd. No, it's just a piece of obscenity, the script of which was probably written on the lap in the toilet in one evening, as they say, to fuck off. To accommodate so many far-fetched delirium, so many contradictory things, so many assumptions can, probably, only a lazy person ... or a dull one. Because even incompetent there is no, but tries to somehow but reasonable to describe everything. Here, all the efforts of the author are as strong as possible to sew a stupid script with white threads and feed the poor viewer a ton of pseudoscientific justifications for the absurdity of all plot moves.
The characters are stereotyped, blunt and straightforward. By behaving just like children, and sometimes worse, they discourage any interest in watching them. And empathize so much. The main representative of the nightmarish squad and simply the personification of stupidity is Kyle Reese, whose hysterical screams would shock, probably, the T1000 itself. Not far behind him is the dorky John Connor. He is also a visual quintessence of villainous film stamps and his brilliant dialogues once again proves how today in stupid films with the help of tired clichés the plot is promoted. Well, everyone's favorite T800 just amazingly acted as a clown, for which of course thank you and our honorable directors of the dub. Iron Arnie is really miserable here. From a monumental hero, he turned into a kind of cyborg buffoon. And if Arnie may have tried with his charisma to give his character a chance to somehow show his best side, then this is clearly not true of the rest. Even Jason Clarke, in my opinion, is neither to the village nor to the city.
The whole atmosphere, philosophy and the meaning of the film are completely destroyed. There is no hint of gloom and suspense even in sight. Even the initial post-apocalyptic scene of Skynet’s capture, which by definition should look frighteningly serious, looks like just some kind of buffoon, some worthless parody of a fierce battle scene. And the whole movie looks and feels more like a wretched, unintended comedy than a serious action movie. And low-grade toilet jokes are more convenient than ever, in order to emphasize the inferiority of the characters, and the absurdity of everything that is happening, and a bad sense of humor among the writers, too.
With action and tricks, everything is also scant. Not only are the action scenes themselves few, so the special effects are clearly not 150 million. I'm not talking about the copied scenes from the previous films of the same series. Which clearly speaks to the crisis of ideas.
Now the point is. The thing that's most terrifying. That's how the creators treated Cameron's original dilogy. And the plot, and the characters, and the atmosphere (which is not in this film), and even the special effects – everything in this film, the feeling that sought to denigrate Cameron’s films. Instead of pleasant nostalgia, we are presented with a plot and atmosphere that simply breaks the whole essence and concept of the first films: the main subtext of “Judgment Day” – “There is no fate except the one we create ourselves” – it was simply put with a device; the images, actions and actions of the characters of “Genesis” simply negate all the merits and all the advantages of the same heroes from the original paintings. The special effects of the film of the current brazenly parasitize all the coolness of the special effects of the old man of the distant 91st.
If Genesis is such an imitation of the first two films, then it should imitate it accordingly, only in a pleasant light mentioning certain things in past films, as if paying tribute to the old tapes, remembering their spirit and handwriting. And not stupidly parasitize on the successful ideas of their predecessors, as if parodying scenes from them and exposing it as a kind of rethinking.
Resume: this movie is for those who are not familiar with any film from the Terminator series, as well as for those who have logic and common sense in the plots of films are in last place; for those who are not familiar with the concept of nostalgia, for those who do not appreciate good staging and pleasant graphics. I hope there are no such people.

(for trying to reinvent the franchise, even though the end product of the reinvention is the demise of the entire franchise)
In 1984, soldier Kyle Reese saves Sarah Connor from a ruthless T-800 cyborg. After 10 years, the T-800 saves Sarah and her son John, for whom he became a real friend, from the T-1000 Terminator. John Connor became a leader in the fight against machines. Wait, what am I talking about? I mean, it never happened. Genesis will confirm.
I’m, like almost everyone else, a big fan of the first two films that James Cameron made. I do not understand the indistinct third, and absolutely delusional fourth part. I thought it couldn't be worse, but I was wrong.
Plot
Not inventing anything new, not knowing what else to shoot (because the war was already shown in the previous part), the creators decided to return to the very beginning, to the origins. And that raises a lot of questions. Where did the second T-800 come from? Where did the T-1000 come from in 1984? Why are they moving into 2017? Why did Skynet suddenly become an operating system? And why is it that John Connor, who has always been the epitome of humanity’s struggle against artificial intelligence, suddenly became Skynet’s main weapon in this film? I immediately remembered the friendship of the T-800 and John in the second part, after which their feud in Genesis looks very stupid. The whole plot is turned inside out and completely twisted events of the first two parts.
Actors
(1) Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor). Pretty, that's all. I tried, but acting leaves much to be desired. Of course, Hamilton does not reach Linda.
2) Jay Courtney (Kyle Reese). The whole film walks with a stone face, lost, completely unaware of what is going on around him, and most importantly, absolutely no one can see his feelings for Sarah. Nothing to do with the brilliant role of Michael Bean in the first film, which in one look could express the full range of emotions of his character. That was the real Kyle Reese. Exhausted, but brave, strong soldier who fell in love with Sarah, and who was ready to do anything to protect her.
(3) Jason Clarke (John Connor). Honestly, after this film, the question is relevant. Who is the worst John Connor in the franchise? Ridiculous Nick Stahl, nondescript Christian Bale or just repulsive by his appearance Jason Clark? None of them stand next to the John we saw in Judgment Day. 14-year-old at that time Edward Furlong outplayed them all outright.
(4) Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800). Old, good Arnie. His age was explained by the fact that Terminator’s skin is as old as human skin. Well, you can turn a blind eye to that. But if in the first film the T-800 was a ruthless killer machine, and in the second - the same machine, but more human, then here only in the action scenes you could remotely see the most powerful cyborg. And so he is presented as an ordinary person, a kind of caring father with his wits and jokes. How could a Terminator be like that? Well, Papps is no comment at all.
The film has such a banal ending that only the mating that was inappropriately joked about was missing.
With its huge budget, the film showed weak box office, and cast doubt on the release of the next films. And now the studio Paramount and completely excluded from its schedule a new part, which was planned to release in 2017. I very much hope that everything will remain that way, and finally stop bullying this franchise, which for me personally, as for most others, ended after the second film.

The 5th full-length film about the Terminator was released in 2015. Over the 31 years of the franchise’s existence, many events have happened – and, in our opinion, the right move was to try to restart the entire series, because the problems with the logical connection of events began with the release of 4 films, and it was simply impossible to continue in this spirit.
Being a great lover of time travel stories - the main criterion in such travels is always the novelty in the approach of depicting such a trip. I understand that logically and physically correct hardly anyone will be able to show this, so initially all films I forgive such shortcomings, if it ultimately does not interfere with the perception of the film and follow its events. It was very successful to create the concept of “rewritten history”, which in a new way made sound the phrase carved on the table by Sarah Connor “No Faith” – the future is not predetermined, and each new time travel changes this future. There are also good jokes about this.
The plot is interesting, and represents a new approach to the events of the whole series - hence a lot of pleasant nostalgic moments, especially for those who have especially carefully watched the classic 1 and 2 films. I can’t help but mention the tremendous work that special effects specialists have done in re-creating the body of a young Schwarzenegger — I swear, I looked at the movie on purpose, but I thought I inserted footage from Cameron’s original film. But no, everything that is called "honest" - and it bribes.
Again, the decision to leave the “original” non-young Schwarzenegger also looks very fresh, and the humor accompanying these moments seemed to me quite successful. Arnold is clearly not complex about his age and confidently jokes on this topic - "Old, but not useless."
The weak spot of the picture I consider only the staff - namely the ubiquitous Jay Courtney, which has already been stuck in almost every little box office movie, was among the main roles here. The second mistake of the casting is Jason Clark, of course, he may not be weak, but the type is absolutely not suitable for this role, like Jai Courtney. I find it difficult to argue with the directors of the project, but I personally see these two as one of the main reasons for the box office failure of this movie - Arnie, of course, is powerful and still incredibly charismatic, has developed charisma even from a stone and soulless Terminator - but he alone cannot draw the entire impression.
The second controversial decision is turning John Connor from the savior of humanity into the main villain – but I believe that this is the right of the creator, and you can not go along with the fans in any case, even if it is my own reluctance to see such a concept of the main villain.
Emilia Clarke has shown herself better than I expected from her, she is young and quite capable of different roles from the Mother of Dragons. I’m sure we’ll see some good pictures with her, but in this film, she certainly couldn’t show the level of Linda Hamilton, being much more cute and expressive outwardly than she is.
Maybe that’s part of the problem, too — the actors in the lead roles are mostly young, as are the authors of this project. The film had very good inclinations and all chances of notable success, and the American public relatively coolly accepted the film, unlike the rest of the world.
The result was a great, good-quality movie that was interesting to watch if you like Schwarzenegger and the Terminator in general - the chances that the film will like, dramatically increase. Of course, if you are not an orthodox supporter of original cinema and are willing to embrace new concepts and approaches to the franchise. It is a pity that the continuation, it seems, is not expected – for sure the authors conceived an interesting development of their developments. However, we will have to wait another 5-10 years before the next daredevils want to challenge the original Terminator.

Plot. It shows a lot of what Cameron couldn't deliver in his units. Time machine itself, battle in the future, time travel. The plot itself is dynamic, interesting and quite unpredictable. Good jokes.
Actors. John Connor – Jason Clarke is at least better than Nick Stahl, who I don’t like in the role at all. Not Christian Bale, certainly not Edward Furlong.
Sarah Connor - Emilia Clarke on the background of Linda Hamilton is small and charisma is not enough, but charming and played great.
Kyle Reese - Jai Courtney played well, even something a little better than Michael Bean. By the way, Anton Yelchin in this role is good.
T-1000 - ' Chinese liquid diarrhea' well, not a nigger. Robert Patrick was excellent, but Lee Byung-hon is not convincing.
T-800 - Arnold Schwarzenegger ' old, but not useless' as always cool!
T-3000 - Looks more brutal than a glamorous T-X.
Special effects are good! Fights, shootouts and chases are filmed cheerfully and spectacularly.
He's back, and not only that. Turning a trick, the filmmakers twisted a whirlwind of non-nostalgic excursions to the Terminator dilogy. It is very difficult to come up with the worst nostalgia that does not bring any emotions from the scenery of the past, a kind of museum from childhood. It's a little false. Want nostalgia and Wow moments? You, just the same in the original dilogy ordered the way, once again.
Genesis turned from attempts to make a nostalgic museum, became a typical, but bright and colorful blockbuster along the way, and, not always bright. The pace's off. Although Alan Taylor tried. Music - the good old anthem in the cover version there is, Arnold, T-1000 (although the actor is not the one), recognizable locations, and a lot of things. But when you put everything together, the structure collapses. Some jokes are not entirely appropriate, thanks to our localizers for this. It is a pity that the movie has turned into a capito, you can watch it, wrap individual episodes, it does not strain, jokes, for someone, perhaps funny ... The start of a new trilogy a la Transformers is given.
Thank you, nothing impressed, except Connor, who is the best in this film and how a villain is not bad.

Sequels and other disneys that filled the screens of cinemas (which are often the same thing) with enviable tenacity, worthy of better use, offer an extremely meager assortment of one dish to the saturated viewer. Blockbusters differ from each other, as a rule, exclusively by serving, smearing with an external gloss, expressed in names, involved lyceums and entourage, and by the degree of liquid-thickness. Heroes from film to film become disproportionately cooler*, villains - more charismatic (or hysterical, if we are talking about a galaxy far, far away), jokes - more murderous and to any, even inappropriate, place ("inappropriate place" here, of course, inappropriate, but here it belongs), dangers - more global and inevitable, obstacles - insurmountable, difficulties - more difficult, special effects - brighter, larger, better. The remaining components have been added on a residual basis recently.
In a series of such crafts, designed to satisfy the needs of millions of people in spectacles (hear the contemptuous snorting of homegrown “aesthetics”?), truly interesting and fascinating samples rarely slip. They break the ideal idyll of permanent consumption, bringing confusion and confusion into the stagnant current. Viewers have to strain the interartic nerve knot to remember the names and faces of new characters, and the excessive tension of the mentioned organ is fraught. But most franchises end with time, and the solvent electorate has to get hooked on something fresh from time to time. It is a pity that not all companies have tons of comics with thousands of fans, and the rights to mega-popular franchises that can be reclaimed under the guise of sequels.
And when such a franchise is, the most important thing is not to overdo it with love for fans. It is necessary to make everything simpler, it is desirable to simply reshoot the old series in a new way, competently publicize and sell smartly (the secrets of PR, guaranteeing a sensible sale - a sacred cow called the Grail of marketing). In the course are pretty faces and the latest special effects, over the plot, as usual, do not bother. In no case can you scare off a potential fan too twisted story, it is better to shove a couple more explosions into the money saved on the screenwriter. The creators of Genesis to some extent coped with the task. To some extent. Invited as already proven in the franchise faces, and new, young and popular (even Jaya Courtney for some reason called). Went a curtsey to the Chinese rental market, inviting a moon-faced villain (it is believed that this decision was the most successful in the entire caste). They rewrote the musical theme that penetrates to the bones of the brain and has become a classic business card and generally nobility mocked the soundtrack. And for the rest of the budget, hiring a screenwriter. And whether there was too much money left, or the screenwriter was too talented, but the plot turned out to be fascinating and interesting.
The fifth series of the epic about the war of artificial intelligence with natural stupidity is a free tribute to all four previous parts. Some of them were a little more, some a little less. The viewer – suddenly! – was treated not as an average schoolboy who came to crack popcorn under the explosions on the screen, but as an amateur and connoisseur of the franchise (especially the canonical first two parts). Of course, a short educational program for the forgotten and simply strangers is also present, but it will not make the weather, because then begins the appeal to the feeling that was forgotten in the Jedi monastery - to nostalgia. The director, who successfully stuffed his hand on rather highly rated television series, played the action to become a story. And now the viewer is immersed in a lovingly modeled past, with each frame evoking memories of the first series, meticulously generating the very atmosphere of a sticky summer night when the future changed and changed in a terrible way. And then they break the pattern and leave to guess: what was it just?
The story develops, the plot moves forward, and the viewer is perplexed in the topic. What happens on the screen disharmonizes with the usual schemes, without hesitation to directly flirt with the viewer's perception. The first third of the film blatantly falls short of expectations (read: concerns), and does so with great respect for the source and fans. Of course, you understand mentally that this is only a protracted prelude to the initially assumed development of events, but in my heart I am sincerely grateful to the authors for such homage. The rest of the film is filled with less noticeable references and is focused on the modern viewer with all the ensuing (including the typical absurd ideas about the mythical unified OS), but also performed at a high level.
As a result, the writer’s ideas, clinging to the density of events, meticulousness and skill of the director create an amazing precedent – an exciting and interesting film with a lot of shortcomings. A mediocre soundtrack, a disgusting selection of actors (bad one Jai Courtney, Clarki just do not fit the type or do not pull to the fullest), problems with creating an atmosphere of doom, the impending horror of the approach of an inexorable killer, the constant alignment with the modern generation with their devices - all this does not prevent the film from being excellent. A great thing: to captivate not thanks to the composite, but despite, only the masterful embodiment of an intriguing story, competently dissecting nostalgic notes.
It is clear that the continuation, if it is, will no longer be able to rely on the cultural layer of its predecessors. At least he can't do that gracefully. But I hope that the authors will be able to give the same qualitative answers to all the remaining questions. And I really, really hope that the producers will not come to their senses and will not force the authors to shrink the potential to the tastes and demands of the average target audience, which is unable to master the story, where they do not chew each template aspect several times. After all, a movie about temporal paradoxes by definition is a little more complicated than the plot “you are the chosen one, go, take away the universal evil.”
* This is not a typo
The Terminator is a legend. Terminator is a cool dude on a bike, in a slash and glasses. A lot can be said for 'Terminator' But in 2015, something happened, namely the murder of this franchise.
In order:
Let all the fans of the second part throw me tomatoes, but it is the first one that I love the most. This is a dark thriller, where 90% of screen time is spent at night, which shows fear and the realization that we are all waiting for a real hell. Arnold doesn't look really cool as a soulless killer machine. The actors played, unlike T5, where they were just present on the set.
Why did I start with the first series, because the Genesis narrative overlaps with this movie? And now for the sad:
I will not describe the plot of T5, as it will take a lot of pages of text, and analyze all the pros and cons of this picture.
1. The biggest drawback is the film itself. The very idea suffered under the pen of the screenwriter, who probably took inspiration from watching DC comics.
2. Actors play. No words. Already from the trailer it was clear that Mr. Jai Courtney, he is a man - oak, completely failed to cope with the role of a soldier who grew up in hunger, cold, and hiding from H-K (killer hunter), compared with Michael Bean. There's nothing to eat in this future, and you've got Kyle Reese who's about as tall as Olympian Arnold. It's probably a casting question. No 'chemistry' between Sarah Conor and Kyle Reese. As I said before, the game is at zero.
3. Screenplay. Too tight. The series was never about time travel. It is clear that if you shoot in the manner of T3, where there are zero new ideas and only chases, it was much worse, but to bring to absurdity (building a time machine in the basement) is too much. How the T 1000 has been chasing you for 10 years, which has allowed you to build a bunker, equip it, and somehow exist all along. Beyond the silly dialogues of white holes in the scenario a lot.
4. Loss of concept. Here most likely the fault of the creators of T3, it was with him that the decline of the franchise began. There's no seriousness like it was in the beginning. And the series itself became a pop corn movie.
5. Marketing. Very incompetent. It's so stupid to advertise a movie, you have to be able to. Already with commercials, the whole plot was clear and interest at least half disappeared. Apparently, the creators were so worried that they decided to reveal the entire storyline.
To sum up, I want to add the following: the creators chose the wrong way, putting this franchise on a par with Marvel comics. After all, ' Terminator' this is not just fiction, this is a serious film, where there is no place for such phrases: ' Did you mate?, or a stupid grin to the song Bad boys. In the first film, Terminator rips out the heart of punk with his bare hands, and now he is called 'Pupbs' Funny comrades, and ashamed. If the creators do not change the concept, then we are waiting for another failure, the box office showed. Is it time to stop?
Specially registered at the film search for this review. Considering the Terminator and the Terminator: Judgment Day a classic of the genre, and the Rebellion of the Machines and the Savior a clear failure, in my opinion, Genesis was a success.
In light of the latest ' sequels and reboots' cinematic classics, this film is not a failure. The plot is quite clear, and even ends meet, and a couple of times you can be surprised by interesting turns. People spit poison over the repetition of a couple of scenes from the original films, and in my opinion, they were in place, and also caused a desire to revise the classic parts.
An alternate timeline is a great idea to reboot the franchise, as the old story can be told in a different way. Did anyone, when viewing the original parts, not have the thought: ' What if...'? And here we were given an option. . .
Yeah, maybe not perfect. The plot was a bit crumpled, and the amount of time travel was beginning to worry, as was the scene explaining ' impossible memories' and the reasons for their occurrence. Overall, the film was complete. Many were unhappy with the ending, but folks, the ending is in the style of the franchise! I bet that the many critics who mercilessly take this picture to the nut, of course, would be much better removed.
Now, as for the actors. I love the Terminator millions of fans, Michael Bean and Linda Hamilton, but the new version of Kyle and Sarah made me very happy. Emilia Clarke, although outwardly and does not look like Linda (this, by the way, was not required, contrary to the opinions of the discontented), perfectly conveyed the character of Sarah, whom we met at the Doomsday - strong, tough, confident. Jai was also quite like Kyle as I remember him in the first part - a bit lost and fussy but brave and ready to do anything to protect Sarah, as intended. Especially pleased with the T-800, Arnold in the role of educator bewitched, and brought a touch of humor to the film.
So, finally, I will say that the film is good, not a masterpiece, but quite watchable and even with pleasure.
It’s impossible to please all the fans, and for us, classic parts will always be better than sequels, triquels, and so on. But as time goes by, and perhaps for our children and grandchildren, the Terminator will begin with Genesis, and classic films will become for them ' old with terrible graphics and no special effects' as the son of my friend, whom she tried to introduce to the classics, recently put it.

This is not the droid you're looking for. Take the best of the previous Terminators, add a little Doctor Who and a little bit of Mass Effect, decorate with modern special effects, shake, but not mix and pour it all on the screen. There will be a new Terminator: Genesis in all its glory. The plot of the film is like a patchwork - a piece from there, a piece from here. When I watched it, I felt like I had seen it somewhere and it was better. Hard-smiling Arnie and a liquid T-1000 with bladed arms from the second film of the franchise, a space-time leapfrog in the spirit of Doctor Who, artificial intelligence that “improves” people like Reapers from a not very distant galaxy ... All of these elements are good in their own right, but the film lacked the style to combine them. The result was an indistinct illogical mix, densely seasoned with pathos and explosions. Spectacular, but completely tasteless. The Terminator himself was disappointed. In any other film, Schwarzenegger can always be reproached for lack of emotionality and acting at the level of "brick", but, alas, not here. Here he suddenly had emotions, a sense of humor and some inappropriate sentimentality. Of course, he jokes well, sometimes even funny, his aging also has a logical explanation, but this is not the robot I want to see in the movies. The naiveté of the conflict with artificial intelligence was also bitter. The curious antagonist, who can take any form, crawl into any gadget and embrace the whole world with his tentacles, instead sits obediently in his cradle and waits for the good guys to come to defeat him, of course, hung with weapons and in proud loneliness. Which, however, was quite expected, because this topic rarely receives an appropriate scale implementation. A terrible and terrible artificial intelligence, which, as it often happens to be, considers people superfluous in a perfectly arranged world, turns out to be terrible and powerful only in words and is easily defeated by a small group of people. You can see all the logic of the plot went to explain the old age of the Terminator. Like most of the remakes and sequels of the popular franchises of the last century, the film is significantly inferior to the original. He has several interesting ideas, but is afraid to develop them and tries to leave on old and proven plot moves. I can't say he's good at it. If you have a special interest in the franchise, you can spend an evening on it, but do not expect a really good film from it. 5 out of 10 Original
“Terminator: Genesis” is not the same as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The latter, too, was a continuation of the great franchise, but in turn promised to be something grand. The last installment of the Terminator was initially sceptical. Given my attitude toward the idea of releasing this film before it was released, my expectations were met.
I didn’t even go to the movies because I believed with all my heart that it would be terrible. After a while I watched it quietly at home. I watched in the original, as I was faced with a blatant distortion of dialogue, voices and even film ideas due to our expensive Russian dubbing. Maybe that's why I don't mess with the film as much as I could.
Overall, I liked the idea of alternate reality, but in this film it was illogical, unscientific and awkward. Considering that I did not expect anything super-smart from this film, I forgive.
The T-1000 is a different conversation. If in the first two films, this character inspired fear, coolness and incredible power, then in the new film he was nothing more than a domestic elderly pet, and a concentration of humor.
By the way, the humor itself was not funny. Every time the fearsome T-1000 said something about copulation and inserted an idiot-worthy smile, I wanted to punch myself in the face and stop watching the movie.
The main villain has a very powerful force, which he begins to use not immediately, because you can not kill the heroes at the beginning of the battle. Speaking of the villain, the film has an interesting twist, which we managed to show in the trailer.
There are also references to past films. True, there is - it is still weakly said. There are a lot of them. Over time, they and the fact that the film is not capable of anything alone, begins to vomit.
The visual component refers to the pluses. I'm not a great connoisseur of special effects, and the picture seemed quite modern and beautiful.
So anyway, to my great surprise, the movie didn't turn out as bad as I expected. Yes, it has a huge number of jambs in the stupidest dialogues, the wooden acting of some characters (one character, and this is not the T-1000 itself), logic and much more, but the overall impression of the film was not absolutely negative. I think the point is that I just didn’t see this movie as a sequel to two old movies, but rather as a standalone project created as a dumb blockbuster for a one-time viewing with popcorn and friends.
The Terminator is James Cameron’s ticket to the big movie. The first movie was pretty good. Bright thriller, with elements of horror. In general, a film that is considered cult around the world. And seven years later, in 1991, the long-awaited sequel “Terminator” was released. The film was better and better than the original film. Great special effects for that time. Awesome Arnold Schwarzenegger. And a beautiful, ambiguous ending. Twelve years later, a triquel came out. I wish it wasn't at all. And in 2009 came the fourth part. It would seem that the “Terminator” should have ended the failed third and fourth part should have shown that the “Terminator” Cameron will not return. Nope. Twenty-four years later, after the ingenious “Judgment Day” came the fifth part, called “Genesis”. How did this movie turn out?
Good visuals and everything. All the advantages of this movie. Apart from good, cheerful effects, there is nothing good in the new Terminator. But in the film a whole bunch of all kinds of vices.
First, the idea of a new film. It's a murder of logic. Endless leaps in time, an alternate reality. All of this makes my head hurt. Anyone can understand that Genesis was made purely for the green. The film's writers, led by directors Alan Taylor, are struggling to wriggle out, coming up with new plot moves. This filmmakers veiled their excessive greed and colossal thirst for money. I have had a question repeatedly. Why is this movie necessary? The movie doesn't care about all the laws of logic. If you bring old but iconic franchises back to life, it should be done beautifully, like Mad Max, Jurassic World, or the recently released seventh episode of Star Wars. In addition to the stupid, sucked out of the finger script, leaves much to be desired and acting. I don't want to believe Emilia Clarke is Sarah Connor. The only bright spot is old Schwarzenegger. I liked him. Humor is average. In short, the whole movie is a big attempt to cash in on a time-tested brand. But you have to put your soul into it. As much as I scold The Force Awakens, the movie is still good. It is clear that the filmmakers tried to make the sequel to Star Wars good. You can't see it here.
Oh yes, another small plus, besides special effects, is nostalgia. But only at the beginning of the movie. Then the movie turns into a thoughtless spectacle, without a hint of common sense.
Overall, I didn’t like the film. Genesis is not just a failure. This is also the beginning of a new trilogy. Failed, apparently. Terminator Genesis is an incredibly stupid movie. He's not catching anything. The same "Jurassic World" on the head better. Of course, I am waiting for the continuation, but in advance I am preparing for complete delirium. What else can be shown in the sequel? An alternate reality? It's scary. I always wonder why this movie was made. I would have made a billion dollars.
Not a normal movie, not a normal movie. It's a shame for Cameron, especially he's a producer here.
