Melodrama with an admixture of fantasy takes on the philosophical question of immortality and eternal youth.
Is it worth it to be alone forever?
For Adalin, the answer is obvious, as long as she can't age, she can't be happy. For her, the possibility of love is to grow old together.
Blake Lovely did a great job in his role. In the scenes where Adalin communicates with his “adult” daughter, despite the age difference, it is felt that it is indeed a mother and daughter.
Adalin, having lived so many years, remains true to herself and her time, which is reflected in her wardrobe and style.
The only thing I missed was to see more scenes from her past, but perhaps this film is not about Adalin’s life per se, but about how her life is affected by meeting Ellis.
As much as I would like to extend my life, I probably would not wish this kind of life on anyone.
No matter how controversial this film is, in terms of the relationship between a man and a woman. The reality is different. But watching this movie, I let down a tear.
How powerful love is. It is an incredible energy that changes people’s realities.
It seems to be a fleeting romance that lasted several months. But as far as I'm concerned, he's stuck in his memory. Leaving behind a deep wound that began to bleed after many years.
We all strive for strong and mutual love. With all our hearts we wish it. And the worst thing that could happen. Either you'll never find her or you'll meet her. The fear is that once you meet her, you have no guarantee that it will be forever. And the retribution for the loss of the most precious thing in life will be very cruel. Someone will shut down from the world for years to come. Someone can give up reality to drown out the pain.
Life is one.
Both love and heartache are feelings. It doesn't matter if it's negative or positive. Feelings help us understand that we are alive. And you have to live both states to feel all its colors. We need to appreciate these moments. This will never happen again.
However, it is everyone’s choice how to live. Get away from reality or keep fighting. But we must remember that there are a lot of people on our vast planet and there is always a chance to meet a new love!
How do you know you love her?
- Without her, life is meaningless.
An exciting and thoughtful film that tells the story of Adeline Bowman, a woman who miraculously stopped aging after she almost died in an accident. The film explores the consequences of Adeline’s immortality, the sacrifices she must make to keep her secret, and the loneliness that accompanies a lifetime of eternity.
Blake Lively introduces the startling play as Adeline, giving depth and complexity to a character who has lived a century and seen everyone she loved age and die. Her character causes both fascination and sadness as she copes with the challenges of immortality, trying to find her place in a world that is constantly changing.
Harrison Ford also introduces a powerful play as William Jones, Adeline's former lover, whom she meets decades after their first romance. Their chemistry on screen is palpable, and the scenes they share are some of the most touching and emotional in the film.
The film's cinematography is also noteworthy, with a stunning visual presentation that transports the viewer through time and space. From the glamour of the 1920s to the modern cityscape of San Francisco, the film showcases the beauty of each era and creates a vivid sense of place and atmosphere.
Overall, The Age of Adalin is a thrilling and thoughtful film that explores the complexities of immortality, love and loss. This is a must-see for anyone who loves good romantic dramas, and is a testament to the power of storytelling and film.
A touching, magical tape about love, about time, about courage
Adalin was born in the early 20th century. She was an ordinary woman, married for love and later gave birth to a daughter. Later, her husband died, and later Adalin got into a fateful accident, after which she stopped aging.
This film is about love, in the sense that we feel, and not see from the outside. About all sides of love: about fear, about courage, about flight, about trust, about intimacy.
The main character lived for many years, running away and starting again, she lost many, broke up with loved ones, left her old lives. Inside her is pain and regret, she lives only past or future, future thoughts about changing her place of residence and parting with the current life. But she is not discouraged, able to be strong and incredibly insightful.
Adalin lives a long time, remaining beautifully young, but she did not waste time studying history and languages. A unique woman. But there is another side to her uniqueness: she is lonely, has no one but her daughter, and has to keep her distance.
Eternity. What lies behind such a loud word, besides the infinity of days, months, years? Loneliness, pain and fear. Eternal life does not bring pleasure, but only watching how quickly the loved ones leave. And to love again, to draw closer, harder every time. Past pain, knowledge and experience make it difficult to trust, relax and give yourself permission to feel again.
This picture is an allegory of loss, a search for trust and consent to a new love, to a new feeling.
The main character is played by Blake Lively: irresistible, graceful, sensual actress, perfectly conveys the character of the heroine, it is difficult to take your eyes off her.
It looks easy, a pleasant film for the eyes and soul, with notes of coziness and a sense of charm inside after watching.
After all, the point is not years, the point is how long we can be alone, driven by fear, running away from love.

The film has a minimum of events and, frankly, meaning, but very beautiful, with charming characters. Not without pleasure, although the time could be spent with great value.
The film is remembered for its atmosphere, music, frames, and most importantly - experiences.
The moments of recognizing the secret of the heroine are the most powerful and memorable. Yes, the film is devoid of dynamics (watched at a speed of 1.25x), but it is not an action movie. Where else have you seen the film when you feel absolute empathy, when the character looks at himself from the past, looking from the photo?
Little things work here. The subtlety of feelings and the feeling of love are the same as in life. The sense of life, the value of the moment, is all expressed here. This film is a kind of tuning fork with which you can consult in terms of emotional tact.
The movie has something to blame, but is it worth it? I definitely recommend it to everyone, you will not regret it.
Why is it worth seeing? Playwrights are required to learn to work with secrets. Composer to understand film language and the nature of cinema. Operators to develop taste.
Adalin (Blake Lovely) is a beautiful girl who doesn’t age. Fate played a cruel joke with her, everything changes around: loved ones leave, pets too, life does not stand still, seasons change each other. Only Adalin, as she was, remains. The girl made a promise not to fall in love again, because who will understand her secret? It hurts others and doesn’t want to hurt yourself either. But on her way there is a charming guy Ellis (Michiel Housman) and it seems Adaline falls in love with a man, but is it good?
Fantastic melodrama shrouded in the mystery of life. What are we living for? And why aren't we getting old? What's wrong with getting old? As shown in the film, GG Adalin suffers greatly from unhappy love, from the fact that everyone around dies one way or another, her daughter is already older than her, and Adalin is still so young. Perhaps this is a chance for her to live a second time, but so many trials are not so beautiful.
I liked the intricacies of multi-genre. Here is appropriate and fantasy, and melodrama. There's no pink snot, and it's so nice to watch a love story. You worry and sincerely rejoice, you understand that genuine emotions are the best that a movie can give.
I would recommend watching The Age of Adalin with your half. If you don’t, please see a good movie.
How often do people talk about eternal life: someone is afraid of it, and someone, on the contrary. If only for a moment to imagine that you will ever stop aging, what thoughts arise in your head?
Initially, it will certainly be a joy, especially if you ask yourself this question at a young age and at the best time in your life. And if you think more deeply, you realize that not everyone can do it. Why not?
At least the worst thing for a man is the death of his loved ones. Outliving everyone you love is scary. Seeing not only your friends grow old, but also your children, grandchildren, and you are young. Not to mention how society will accept this fact, if not to keep a secret. The question immediately arises about what to say to higher authorities, because documents exist.
Thus, the fate of the main character of the film “Age of Adalin” was formed. Every day her life was filled with various trials that took her by surprise. Adaline Bowman’s life lasted more than 100 years, and she could not live quietly, because she had to be invisible and hide. This turned out to be the most difficult, because every day new events occurred that destroyed her plans for a secret life.
Stunningly beautiful story with notes of fiction, accompanied by wonderful music, cast and shooting.
Yes, this epithet can be given to the main character of the film “The Age of Adalin” in 2015.
I’ll admit, I’ve never been a big fan of Blake Lively’s talent, despite her undeniable beauty, but in The Age of Adalin, it’s impossible to take your eyes off her.
Imagine that one day you will suddenly stop growing old. Of course, the first thought that could have occurred in many people’s heads at this point was “How great!” However, if you think about it, then not everyone will be able to cope with such a gift. People around you will die and you will continue to live. Your children will grow old and you will remain young. And the intelligence agencies will be interested in your unusual gift, so you will have to hide and change your identity every ten years.
It is through these trials that Adalin Bowman will have to go, who, despite her eternal youth and more than 100 years of life, did not live like a human being. Her main goal in life is to be invisible and not to acquire attachments. Only fate throws her another test that will change everything.
“Age of Adalin” is a beautiful and smooth fantastic melodrama. It has no great thoughts, but a lot of aesthetics and warmth. And if you want to spend a quiet evening and get aesthetic pleasure, here you go.
In modern cinema, everything has become so confusing that it is sometimes impossible to understand what the director himself as an artist wanted to convey through his work. Today I was introduced to a fascinating film about the most important thing that we usually do not appreciate and forget as much as this: to value your life and love someone so much that you have to part with him because of the specifics of eternity.
I’m talking about the film directed by Lee Toland Krieger “The Age of Adalin”, where the fantastic image of a beautiful ageless maiden is woven into the story of just breathing her breath. For someone, a century has passed, as for her this eternity of the moment.
Magnificent play of actors is combined in the dance of a beautiful script and high-quality work of the operator. The film looks in one breath like an extravaganza of a fairy tale. The beautiful Blake Lively in the title role and the always gorgeous Harrison Ford in episodic, for the sake of their game is ready to watch it again and again. From the film blows the philosophy of life.
In the tape you will not find action-packed transitions, everything is done in a smooth manner and it just clings to the soul and does not let go for a long time. Beautiful romance and notes of sentimentality will prepare you for a drama with a good ending.
There were moments that I really wanted to cry, tried to restrain myself, I understand that in vain, the feeling of something flying from under my fingers in eternity does not leave me while writing this review.
I advise you to enjoy the air fairy tale with all your heart. Everyone, I am sure, will cause their emotions and after watching, there will be something to think about.
Thank you to the entire cast for the excellent work.
In general, this is not a joke - various nutritionists, doctors and geneticists have proven that all sorts of pleasant bonuses of this magnificent feeling lead to the rapid maturation of the human body. But Adeline (well, just stunning Blake Lively) is not threatened at all - in the twenties of the last century, the lady got into a car accident, where, in addition, the stars converged, snow fell, lightning struck and other disparate fornications occurred, which arise in the beginning of any fairy tale.
In fact, Lee Toland Krieger believes that this is enough to start a large-scale story of one not aging girl. Of course, with such a cute face it should even be on hand, but the viewer is not stupid and understands that everything is not so simple.
“The Age of Adeline” is a kind of feminist opus, one of the first of its kind, when everything is quite harmless and, even, not everyone understands.
- You're pink -
Ellis distantly drops the phrase and catches a somewhat reproached look of Jenny.
- Pink? . . << /i>
Yes, yes, many people immediately remember Fincher with his Button and talk about the “copier”. But despite the similarities, Krieger’s rather feminine story-response becomes somewhat stronger in terms of emotionality and the very beauty of the narrative. This contributes to the episodic, but memorable Harrison Ford and some completely secret sympathy for the main character. And it is not even pity, but understanding.
It is sad, of course, that for many years of her life, the protagonist never really asked what the hell was going on. But then there would be no “cinema.” And so - quite a nice fantastic melodrama.
The plot of the fantasy melodrama “The Age of Adalin” is based on the amazing story of Adaline Bowman, who has been keeping her secret for a long time: after a car accident, as a result of which she experienced hypothermia and cardiac arrest, she does not age for a day.
In itself, the idea is quite original and attracts attention, if only because the film regularly falls into the lists of “Recommended for viewing”, thereby bribing me to watch this picture. As a result, the whole impression of the film turned into the effect of deceived expectations.
Adalin Bowman is quite a mysterious and interesting person with a huge baggage of experience and knowledge. That's how I imagined her. I was wrong. The main mistake that was not taken into account when creating the image of Adalin was the fact that a person who lived such a long and full of different eras of life, in my humble opinion, must have incomprehensible wisdom, unshakable calm and self-confidence. Whatever it was, but the number of years lived makes itself felt, and it is not only about the above qualities, but also about banal fatigue and the desire to retire. But in the case of Adalin, we see the opposite picture. Instead of wisdom and tranquility – endless throwing and escaping from yourself. Instead of confidence, doubt and torment. In the end, it seems that a person simply did not know himself, and life did not teach him anything. And not only Adalin herself suffers from this, but everyone around her who cares about her. The image and character of the heroine simply compressed, and as a result it seems that the girl lived not a century, but a maximum of three decades. One way or another, the unknown and the search for self is more inherent in youth than maturity. Monotonous dialogues and spineless characters tire no less than the heroine herself with her hesitation and indecision.
Therefore, the whole original Adaline was built only on the fear of being discovered and the fear of revealing his secret to anyone, gradually turning the ability to live forever into a curse. Perhaps this is why the picture lacks the ease that you expect at the very beginning of the viewing.

The Age of Adalin tells the story of a girl who was born in 1908 and stopped aging at the age of 27. How is that possible? Returning home by car during a thunderstorm, Adalin gets into an accident, the car breaks into the water and in addition gets struck by lightning. Getting out of the ill-fated car, Adalin finds the gift (or curse?) of immortality.
The girl starts romances, gets married, gives birth to a daughter, but due to the fact that she no longer ages for a day, over time she has to leave everyone who is dear to her and move. One day, she meets someone she can’t leave behind. What should I do?
The film can be attributed to several genres at once - this is melodrama, drama, and fantasy. The story is filmed very brightly, beautifully and emotionally, causing a lot of serious reflection. Is immortality and eternal youth a gift? How happy is it to live this endlessly long life, constantly burying those you love? How do you live in a city where everything changes except you? How do you explain this to the police without going to the lab? There are a lot of questions, and this adds points to the film.
Blake Lively got into her role very well. Michiel Hausman (known for "Game of Thrones" Daario Naharis) made Blake a wonderful couple. The actors believe that watching their heroes is very interesting. The work of the cameraman, costume designers and decorators is beyond praise – together with Adalin we watch how life and people change over a century. The film has a beautiful soundtrack, which will surely make you look for it online after watching.
The film is suitable for a romantic evening, and for watching alone. I would recommend watching.
If you like romantic movies that reveal the character of the characters, if you had a bad day and need to distract yourself from sad thoughts, then you should watch this movie. The theme of eternal youth and as the antipode of approaching old age will always excite humanity, especially the fair sex. But the movie isn't just about that. He is deep, soulful, gentle, very refined, I would even say aristocratic. It will not have a famously twisted plot, on the contrary, the narrative is clear, easy, but it just speaks of the talent of director Lee Toland Krieger as a master with a capital letter. The film immerses you in the atmosphere of stunning images of the main character, played by the beautiful actress Blake Lively. It subtly demonstrates to us the styles of different eras and looking at it creates a sense of presence, as if you participate in the plot, but for you the passive role of an observer is assigned. I want to reach out to her, take the main character by the hand, tell her warm words of consolation - because she is very unhappy, because she is destined to be forever young.
Separately, I would like to note the musical accompaniment of the film from the composer Rob Simonsen, his music creates the tragedy of history, it emphasizes the atmosphere of the emotional experiences of the heroes, emphasizes the beauty of their images and makes a gentle addition to the experience of this story. The film turned out very warm, kind with a good performance of actors, which I consider necessary to highlight. This is Michiel Housman playing Adalin, Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn -- how good she is as Adalin's daughter. This film can be characterized by all the enthusiastic adjectives – impeccable, touching, gentle, romantic... and of course it is about love, about eternal values – about family, decency, respect, caring for loved ones and about a philosophy that will always excite people – how to age with dignity, accepting yourself, your age and respect for the elderly who surround us and who we will become. Thank you for reading to the end.
Would you like to live a century at the age of 29?
Adalin didn't plan either. But after a car accident, her body stopped aging and now she is still 29 every year.
As time goes by, Adalin is an old woman, and her mother is still young and beautiful. The girl changes passports, cities and places of work; rides around the world and how she can take care of her daughter. But for many years he avoids love until one day he meets a persistent handsome man who is ready to move mountains for Adaline.
This is a romantic picture of circumstances, choice and fate. Do you live when you avoid love? Can you trust someone enough to live? Yes, there are a million such stories in cinema, but this one is especially sincere thanks to the main characters.
Sweet Blake Lively fits well into the role of sensual, romantic Adalin. In this film, she proved the versatility of her abilities: the local character and does not stand next to the ordinary Serena van der Woodson from 'Gossip Girl' and the cunning Emily Nilsson from 'Simple Request'. Lively gave the picture lightness, despite the hard life of her character. This is the first time I saw Michael Housman in the film. Brutal image is good, and his character Alice bribes with perseverance and kindness towards the girl. I would have fallen in love if I were Adalin.
The film is suitable for quiet viewing by a couple in love or a single romantic. The aftertaste of this picture leaves warm feelings in the soul for a long time, because love conquers everything.

Undoubtedly, every woman dreams of eternal youth and beauty, because you always look beautiful, you do not have to look in the mirror every morning in search of wrinkles. You constantly see the enthusiastic glances of fans and perplexed glances of aging friends who only do that, asking “what is your secret?” But everyone sees only one side of the coin, and they try not to pay attention to the other.
Adalyn Bowman is an ordinary woman who, by chance or fate, was forced to fight the other side of the medal of eternal youth: the aging of her own children, loneliness, hiding from the authorities, the fear of falling in love and becoming attached.
At first, the film seems to be a trick for a philosophical drama, but with the development of the plot, it becomes clear that in front of us is one of those pictures that you should lead a girl on a first date to show her that you are not a finger made and have the right to be called “romantic”.
In general, once you can watch, the film does not claim to be the best melodrama of all time, because in some moments the naivety of the plot simply causes a sarcastic smile or a caustic comment.
Of the advantages, we can note Harrison Ford, as well as a good work of the film’s operators, and also if you are a girl, you can salivate on a good abundance of beauties in the film.
As a result: a one-time melodrama with a good idea and good actors, can please you for one evening.

P.S. So is there any point in eternal life if a loved one cannot share it with you?
Fantasy, atmospheric retro era, original idea - all this promised an interesting story, a non-trivial pitch. Unfortunately, all expectations were misleading.
The first bell rang when the voiceover began to speak casually about Adalin and her past. Why not show it in the movie? Why not let me feel how old and tired the heroine was, experiencing many people who were important to her? Why not show the successive decades as Adalin saw them and what she faced? This is not from the word 'totally'. But there is a voiceover and, as it turned out, a completely tabloid and ugly plot (Brazilian passions).
The main character, played by a nasty crooked actor, was most annoying. His behavior seemed refined, he turned out absolutely faceless. Ford in the role of a crazy lover came out ridiculous due to the absurdity of the plot: in the film, the central place was taken by Santa Barbara, in which fathers and children calmly twist romances with the same person and this is kind of the norm. The others went through the background. Interestingly, the actors do not try to play more than prescribed in the contract.
No interesting memories of the main character. No deep feelings of the characters.
Everything is schematic and, alas, absurd. The atmosphere of the past years was absent. There were no beautiful plans of nature or the city. From 'fantasy' just sound. It's a shame that you ruined such an unusual idea. You could make a good movie.
Sensual and insanely penetrating melodrama. I don’t know, I have long missed films with such an aftertaste, which remained for a long time after watching.
The plot of the film tells about an amazing girl whose story is a pleasure to watch. It attracts, as does the world around it. The Adaline Age has a wonderful message that you will not often see: eternal life will not bring you happiness, because all your loved ones will remain ordinary mortals and will leave you one by one. This film shows us that we need to live and enjoy it, and not pursue ghostly goals, because otherwise you can lose any pleasure from your existence.
Without a doubt, this film focuses on one character and his story. Adalin played the beautiful Blake Lovelin, who dissolved in the role of a wise but unhappy woman. This character attracts, it is well revealed and she wants to empathize. Adalin becomes for the viewer a real person, whose story seems real and insanely sad, because almost all her life she has to run and pretend to be another person. Of course, the story of her immortality seems slightly pseudoscientific, but the film does not pretend to be, because the authors tell us a story about immortality, not how to achieve it.
The supporting characters are also not bad. Harrison Ford was very pleased, but Michiel Haushman, who played the love interest of the main character, in my opinion, lacks a bit of passion, which, in other words, is not so noticeable and does not spoil the overall impression.
The most important thing to note is the atmosphere. The film is filled with tenderness and slowness, like the life of Adalin. It flows evenly and do not rush anywhere, which gives this picture a special charm. The technical part is just incredible. Pleasant for hearing soundtracks, charming close-ups. Everything in this film immerses in an incredible and pleasant atmosphere.
As a result, we got a beautiful melodrama that does not seem overly played, and the main character is not annoying. This film is mandatory for viewing by a connoisseur of the genre, and just people who like to sometimes watch touching and soulful films.
Never count the years, favorites and glasses of wine.
Adalyn Bowman was born on January 1, 1908. Her life was calm and natural: she grew up, got married, gave birth to a child, and then, unfortunately, became a widow. However, when she turned 29, something really unusual and perhaps even magical happened in her life.
Adaline has stopped aging.
When she turned 45, authorities became interested in her, noticing her unusual ability, or rather, the inability to age, and since then, she went on the run, periodically changing her place of residence and name.
Nowadays, she works as a librarian in San Francisco, sees her already aged daughter and sometimes takes her soul away by going to social events in a chic outfit. Needless to say, the actress Blake Lively, playing the role of Adalyn Bowman, perfectly fit into this role with her unique grace, glowing smile and charm.
I believe the main idea of this painting is that immortality is not a gift, but a burden that Adalin has carried with dignity through the century. Don’t expect too much from the movie “The Age of Adalin” – it really does not pretend to be genius, but, nevertheless, I can not call it a pathetic parody of “The Mysterious Story of Benjamin Button”.
There is some magic in this film: despite the very smooth flow of the plot, I did not get bored. The Age of Adalin has its charm, so I’m not sorry for the time. It's romantic.
I must begin with the fact that this film is one of the few in its genre, which was able to surprise me, please and even make me think. The plot of the film is very much thought out based on events that may happen in the future, akin to miracles, but at the same time and subtly described as patterns that very rarely can happen when a very large number of events coincide. In this film, with this plot, this did not damage the overall picture, even on the contrary, added something completely unknown and wonderful, with the opportunity for the viewer to believe that incredible accidents still happen.
The acting in the film is excellent, the characters are perfectly selected, especially for the role of William’s son, who was able to show excellent charisma and acting talent. It is also possible to attribute the fact that there are absolutely no special effects in the film, except for the illustration of coincidences in the form of a “miracle”. There are no stupid stereotypes, like inadequately stupid heroes or too smart friends of the protagonist, but just modern society.
I liked the ending, which in such a film and should be, the only thing you can still find fault with, is the explanation of the phenomenon in which this ending took place, in order not to spoil a part of the film, I will only say that this is not exactly expected, because it is even more incredible than the beginning of the phenomenon. The film is excellent overall.
We conclude that the film for viewing is recommended, brought a lot of positive emotions.
A very warm film, which is a visual demonstration of the answer to the question: "What is it like to live forever?"
Adalyn Bowman looks like an ordinary young woman and works in a library. However, others do not even realize that she has lived for more than a hundred years, and the reason for this was an anomaly that arose as a result of a car accident. The main character of the film is forced to hide and change her place of residence every ten years, so as not to cause suspicion among law enforcement agencies. But once she gets tired of parting with loved ones and has to change the usual pattern of behavior, because she is tired of living “on the run”.
Blake Lively is adorable in this role! Dresses, facial expressions, emotions - everything is so vivid and natural that you forget about the unreality of what is happening on the screen. She is believed, as is Michael Haushman, who plays a man in love. It is impossible not to mention the actors of the second plan, among which “lit up” and Harrison Ford with his boundless talent.
“Age of Adalin” is not overloaded with details, drama or Hollywood chic: the picture is simple, romantic and pleasant, does not cause a feeling of boredom or protractedness, looks in one breath. The work of the operator is incomparable.
So how does it feel to live forever? Take a look and find out.
I don’t know who, but for me the movie “Age of Adalin” throughout the viewing resembled the story of Mr. Button played by Brad Pitt. No, the scripts are far from identical, but some accents were similar. Did you win the movie? I don't know. But Button is still closer to me.
The story is generally about one lady who once gets stuck at the age of 30 for a long hundred years. Her friends grow old, her daughter grows up, lovers go to the other world, and she is still young. It seems like every woman's dream. Adalin is forced to change her name and move every ten years so that the truth about her phenomenon is not revealed and she does not become a guinea pig for scientists. And Adalin decides for herself that love in her volatile life is impossible, because she will never be able to reveal the truth to her soulmate and grow old together. Moreover, the trace of one relationship remained on her heart for life. But Adaline is in love again, although she tries to resist this feeling in every possible way.
Let me tell you a little bit about the disadvantages, they are less than the pluses, which is already good. To me, the plot sometimes sagged and was a bit boring. I think that’s why I’m not going to see this movie for the second time. Well, the young lover Adalin did not impress me at all, I did not see any feelings at all, maybe the guy just lost in charisma against the background of Harrison Ford, I do not know. I was a little disappointed in the finale.
Now on the pluses.
I discovered Blake Lively, who is such a wonderful and charismatic actress. Before that, I saw her only in “Secular Life”, but even there she remembered her, despite the episodic role. Well, here I remained completely subdued, and not only by the game, but by some kind of bright kindness that comes from Blake.
Of course, wonderful Harrison Ford, there is still gunpowder, as they say, at the moments with him and the heroine Blake, I was directly specifically feeling.
Well, the film is not meaningless, it is also pleasant, because it is so important to trust loved ones, not to be afraid of their feelings, no matter what, and the movie is about this.
Again, a second time I hardly watch, but for a one-time viewing the film is great.
The story tells us about a girl whose life for an extraordinary and at the same time quite ordinary reason changed once and for all. Magic and science, simplicity and elegance. That's how it is in this movie. Everything is amazingly combined, giving us comfort, warmth, love, drama and a little light sadness.
Despite the situation in which our heroine finds herself, she does not ask questions, does not seek cause and effect, she just lives, using what she was given - time.
And although Adalin, as many of the characters of the picture have repeatedly mentioned, is on an eternal run, afraid to stay and reveal all her secrets, afraid to start a serious relationship, afraid to allow herself to love for real, I do not believe that she runs away. She may be running away from being exposed because the only thing that scares her is publicizing her situation because it could hurt her daughter, but she certainly isn’t running away from life itself.
"The Age of Adalin" is about love. Yeah. And this thought runs through the whole picture, literally shouting that we should all live and love, no matter what.
But this love can be completely different, not only the love of a woman for a man.
It can be the love of a mother for her daughter, or even the love of the hostess for her dog as a friend who has been around for so long.
Honestly, I remember when “The Age of Adalin” was just released on the screens, I remember then I immediately realized that I would not watch it, and I will not say that it was some meaningful decision, they say that I do not like something in it or not mine, ... no. It's just a decision. The story that the film tells was nothing more than the story that the film tells.
And after watching, I, in general, did not make a mistake in the little things, the general meaning is as old as the world, but I was mistaken in another – in something very important.
Yes, perhaps everything that they wanted to convey to us, based on this picture, is a capital truth and has been said many times before, but after all, there is little in our world that we have not yet seen. The main thing is how this repetition is conveyed to the viewer.
Here, in this film, there is no sense of bombast or pathos, on the contrary, everything is very tasty and warm.
There is only a bright feeling, a feeling of peace and harmony on the soul.
Visual range, beautiful landscapes, kind, "all" kind characters, there are no sharp corners, surprises, bursts or shock turns. The picture is flat, and this is its plus.
It turned out to be gentle, light and at the same time bright. Correct dialogues, very – I would like to say – right dialogues. They came out as deep as the heroes who uttered them, and perhaps - and most likely - because of them.
I especially want to say thank you Blake Lively for such Adalin, calmly accepting her life as it is, and, in spite of everything, continued to smile and rejoice.
It's an absolute hit in the image. Realistic and believable. It is very pleasant to look at, beautiful, elegant, with inner dignity, stately, I would even say.
She managed to convey the feelings of a woman who lived a hundred years, she really believed. In each episode, I can imagine that Adalin is a hundred years old. And yet, she is young at heart, young, energetic, but a little tired, as she should be.
"Years, lovers, glasses of wine - what you do not have to count"
This phrase is true not only for Adalin, but for every person on this earth. None of us, like Adalin, knows how much is measured by fate, and let eternity be open before Adalin, unlike us, who knows when this eternity may end?
"Go for it!" Life is too short (c)
Very interesting and unusual story. The film itself didn’t appeal to me for a long time until I read the description carefully. I guess that's a plus. Even the main, lightweight spoiler is enough to attract attention. The main character Adalin in a strange coincidence is struck by lightning, and she becomes Barry Allen - the fastest man on Earth.
Ha, joke. Adalin stops aging and stays forever at the age of 27. Everything is told scientifically (as much as possible for the fantasy genre), and the viewer begins to immerse himself in the plot under the cover of drama. It would seem that a lot was filmed about immortality, but, presenting this product as a drama, the writers pleasantly surprised. The heroine lives a restless and cautious life. Many would not consider immortality, but the process itself to remain forever at the same age as a gift, since the disadvantages are obvious. The time frame is pleasantly surprising, historical events are justified and perfectly included in the plot pieces, forming a logical narrative. It is interesting to present the relationship of Adalin with all her friends, because they have accumulated a lot. Fast twists (time loops) harmoniously fit and cause a surge of delight from viewing. Immediately came to mind “The mysterious story of Benjamin Button”, as a certain similarity, so to speak, on the face. All the time to live, watching your loved ones leave you, while realizing that you can not prevent it, the fate is not easy. So immediately you start to worry about the character, sadly watching her suffering. At the end of the picture I was waiting for an unexpected turn, and it is beautiful.
When the dramatic part is at its limit, when you’re already looking forward to catching every word, every action, the ending gives you what you need, what the movie was designed for. It may seem like a predictable ending, but I was happy about it.
Blake Lively played her character beautifully. Calm, confident and fearless. I also really liked Harrison Ford. He was excellent in his role. He is always good at any project.
The painting will appeal to many. Exciting, tense, brilliant. Have a good time.
The story is interesting, even a little fabulous or mystical. Lovers of love stories must watch!!
Adalin, the main character of the film, a unique woman. She is intelligent, sometimes over-bred, well-bred, but the main difference from the rest is that she does not age. There was an inexplicable phenomenon, thanks to which the girl has been living for more than 100 years, remaining young. Sounds great, but not for Adalin.
Everything has its flaws that the heroine has to deal with. She's miserable. Choosing the lot of loneliness moves from place to place fearing to get close to people, happiness certainly not to call such a life.
But as they say, love will save the world!
After living for more than 100 years, Adalin never lived, as strange as it may sound. But things change. You just have to stop and stop running.
The choice of roles by actress Blake Lively in the last five years only fuels interest in the gradually gaining momentum career of an actress who is not yet thirty. The almost bohemian appearance and behavior in public contrasts sharply with the strong and at the same time vulnerable images in the frame. And here's Adalyn Bowman, a woman who goes through decade after decade, watching people close to her get older and go away, and the world changes. Many, for some reason, dream about how good it is to live forever, which in fact can only turn into a tragedy. And while immortality remains only a fantasy, it is more comfortable to watch its reverse side in the movies, on the other side of your TV screen.
The story’s tagline that a lot has changed over the last century, and Adalin hasn’t, conveys the idea of the film well, but not its essence – otherwise it would have become mediocre fiction or a parody of itself. The essence of this story is that Adalin is changing - inside. But through the evolution of the hero, on the interval between the prologue and the epilogue, any worthy plot develops. How life experience, accumulated more than ordinary life, affects the attitude to the world. It's like seeing your daughter as an eighty-year-old woman. How to hide from prying eyes and even government attention, regularly changing residence and documents. Does Adalin’s eternal youth seem so attractive after all these years? It is these questions that we put before ourselves, as viewers - the plot does not voice them head-on - only implies.
The Age of Adalin is a very strong example of personal, or even one-man cinema. When a bright, atypical, not flat main character, a heroine, is enough to perceive the whole story through her. Instead of feeding the viewer a cheap fan service about the past century, with jokes, the film works thinner. The metamorphoses of the surrounding world have been given background background by being transmitted through the life experience of one woman. Even the ghosts of the past, one of which is the hero of Harrison Ford, move the story forward, complement the necessary atmosphere of melodrama.
In advance of acrimonious critics, we can immediately openly say that “The Age of Adalin” is really more women’s cinema. And although the main character is not a storyteller, we see the world through her eyes. She falls in love, grieves, then falls in love again, mourns the departed, grieves, doubts. What’s more, the film doesn’t have a strong male character, a gender opponent – one that would be even more interesting to reveal Lively’s character. At the same time, the film has a great soul-wrenching atmosphere, there is subtext and mood after watching, despite the notes of metaphorical sadness, you can call elevated.

When I started watching this movie, I expected to learn life lessons from an immortal heroine, learn the secret of eternal love, or see an end like Benjamin Button. Unfortunately, I didn’t see it.
Yes, the movie is beautiful. Beautiful main character, camera work, costumes, small special effects. Moreover, there is an atmosphere created by the library and books, the coziness of filming in the premises. There is romance, sad moments and even something to think about. There's Harrison Ford, after all!!
But, as Dostoevsky said, “The greatest skill of a writer is to be able to strike out.” There's a lot to cross out here. Quite frankly, many topics were claimed, but did not reach the level of sincerity. Jokes are not funny, and wise phrases are deep.
Well, as many viewers have noticed, the heroine did not reveal the secrets of the universe, love or life.
To know a lot is great, but knowledge does not breed wisdom.
It was a beautiful but rather empty movie. Which I'm sad to say. And although I do not give low ratings, but the film lost not the rating, but the viewer.
The Age of Adalin is a beautiful melodrama for a female audience, for the most part. The whole film, from beginning to end, does not let go of the emotional experiences of the main character. Anxieties about the abnormality of their endless existence, life without love, because it is difficult for an ordinary person to perceive the unusual sides of Adalin, because sooner or later everyone will leave and leave their scar.
Adalin is much easier to live a simple life, not letting anyone into it, not being attached to anyone, changing names, place of residence and work.
The film shows how valuable life is in the time frame in which it is given. Growing up, loving, growing old, dying. Together. Together with a loved one in the family circle.
The Age of Adalin is a movie you expect more from. The story of a girl who never gets old, forced to hide, say goodbye to the people she cares about, and finally find true love, sounds sad and romantic. I wanted to see a beautiful and sad movie about Adalin’s difficult life with a happy ending. In fact, it was very normal. The love of the main characters did not cause special emotions, but there was another one, it was she who decorated and became the main plus of the film for me.
The film lasts almost two hours, during which time a lot was told about the fate of Adalin and at the same time nothing. Nothing to cling to emotionally, everything is somehow crumpled. There is a lack of dialogue, thoughts of the heroine, because she lived such a long life, she witnessed the change of eras, war. But it's a movie about love and the focus is on romantic relationships in the present. And everything that was “before” is just a word. That's what it feels like. Whether or not this movie is ruined depends on what you expect from it. If the story is about love, then you will see it, but there will be no deep meaning based on the peculiarity of Adalin.
The actors in the movie are fine. They play well in their roles. Separately, Harrison Ford, he was certainly brighter than Michael Haushman and Blake Lively combined, however, as well as the story of his hero.
The Age of Adalin is a beautiful movie with beautiful actors. It can be seen in the evening, wrapped in a blanket, with a cup of hot cocoa. Despite the minuses and not quite a rosy review, this film touched me, if not the love of Adalin in the present, but the one that was in the past, but still.
