Each of us sometimes thinks of time, of how quickly it goes away, like a gust of wind, carrying away the fallen leaves of autumn.
But who would have thought that sometimes it happens that time bypasses us?
That you can live indefinitely, not counting the years you have lived. Adalin has this story.
Would you like to live a hundred years and not grow old a day? To be able to do so much in life, to fulfill all your dreams? This is the story of a girl who got this opportunity, a life of a century. At first, imagining such a thing, I would also like it to be possible, because you can have so much time. But still, there is one thing that overrides all this immense amount of time, is the inability to grow old with a loved one. And is this not the most important thing, albeit in our fleeting and short life? Therefore, we try to appreciate her every moment, try not to miss our chance. That is why one life is much more valuable than eternal life. I think we’ll be able to point that out again after watching this movie.
This movie is about love, and it is clear to everyone. But who says making love movies is banal? Love is the highest, purest, holiest thing that is in us, in our hearts. That will never change. It will always be the main value in people’s lives. Maybe if I wasn't so romantic, he wouldn't touch me like that. Watching the film, you need to discard all extraneous thoughts and just watch the events unfold. Getting away from the screen was difficult. I wanted to capture every second of this movie and not miss a single moment. This touching love story reminded me a little bit of my own, maybe that’s why I felt like I lived it all with the characters. Sometimes it seems that the path to true love is like falling into eternity. It seems to fly into it, fly, and the final point is still not reached. But as soon as you find such a long-awaited loved one, you realize that such a long journey was not in vain. And it doesn’t matter how much time is spent searching, because even one year with a loved one can cover a century of loneliness. And if in the film such magnitudes are quite real, it does not mean that they can not be projected on our reality. I want to believe that each of us will find the love that is shown in this picture and it will be just as beautiful.
The emotions are amazing. During the viewing I could not break away for a minute, breathtaking from the amazing play of actors, very beautiful landscapes, interesting plot development. The main feature of the “Age of Adalin” can be considered the fact that its plot does not loop in one place, but is in constant motion. The main character travels from one era to another in search of happiness and stops at nothing. She does not give up, but continues her struggle, realizing that each of us is the creator of his own happiness. And the opportunity to stop aging was given to Adalin by higher forces for a reason. Thanks to her, the girl gets the opportunity to find out what pure love really is and whether it is worth fighting for. This definition of the meaning of the plot is a little simplified, but in clarity illustrates the tone of the whole production and the meaning that was put into it.
I also wanted to believe that such a dazzling love could actually happen in real life. This film shows how beautiful and reverent, and treat each other with kindness. There is nothing more beautiful than that feeling. It happens that people are created as two halves and just looking for each other. And do not throw away even the most incredible options thrown to you by life itself. One of them may well be your destiny, and for some reason you ignore it. The Age of Adalin also celebrates unbreakable family values. No matter what happens around you and no matter what shocks fall on your soul, you need to understand that mutual assistance and understanding should always be in the first place and you can not refuse help when you can provide it. And then all your good thoughts will pay off a hundred times.
After watching the film, I decided to keep it in my collection. For those who haven’t seen it yet, take the time. Only good and bright feelings will remain. Have a good time!
Hello there! I want to write a nice review of this film, after a long time after watching. Immediately note that in the film there is no modernity, action and so on. He is calm, girlish fabulous, everything is built on love. You can watch with family, with daughters - it will be useful.
After the film I wanted to appreciate, love, give love, kindness. The dresses and hairstyles of the whole time are amazing. The film encourages you to learn, love, do not forget the very same ' the first' love and relate, over the years with trepidation, dress up, try on that time.
The actors are absolutely all picked up for Hurrah! I can't imagine replacing them. This film has its charm, its atmosphere.
And, yes, sometimes I resist watching movies with such a little fabulous, magical, unreal love, but in this movie I loved everything.
I think I cried, I don't remember, so it's a woman's company. Or with a young man (which would be great, the heroes of men here reflect the dreams of many girls and women), but it is unlikely that a man will like this creation.
Good luck!
A good romantic film is not stupid, not vulgar, insanely beautiful, noble and moderately sad, with a fantastic frame, which, of course, does not withstand any scientific criticism, but is it necessary?
The viewer choosing this genre should be ready to close his eyes to all anti-scientific twists of the plot.
You just have to believe, dissolve, live in history.
One of my favorite films is "House by the Lake" Alejandro Agresti, just in this genre - fantastic melodrama. I had to wait almost 10 years for a similar, quality curtain. The century of Adeline gave me another 2 hours of aesthetic and spiritual pleasure.
Thank you.
I would recommend it to all romantics.
P.S. This is the story of a man who has lived several lives.
The soft voiceover tells the amazing story of the life of Adalyn Bowman, who was born in the 20th century and has not aged a wrinkle to this day. The life of the main character performed by the refined Blake Lively changed dramatically after night water procedures and wayward lightning. Since then, Adalin has been granted “eternal” life. Since then, she has been deprived of life as such.
In order not to attract unwanted attention, Adalin is forced to constantly leave her native places and loved ones, (almost) not to be attached to anyone, in general, live in the rhythm of Dylan’s song “Like a Rolling Stone”. To correct this outrage trying positive in all respects man (Michiel Haushman), who suddenly appears the most unexpected "historical" competitor.
The image of the main character - time - is verified to the smallest detail and deftly fits into every moment of the film. Whether it’s Adalin’s wonderful retro outfits and her curls, the ships in the middle of San Francisco and the old manor houses, games of events and hidden photos – all this is generously sprinkled with bits of history, like an elegant black and white cake.
Lee Toland Krieger does not claim to be a high-profile science fiction genre. Above all, he created a delicious tale about the power of time, choice and true love. There is a place for beautiful princes, fateful meetings and late comets. There is a place for magic, timeless, eternal.
This is the amazing story of Adalyn Bowman. What will be yours?
I want to warn fans of famously twisted plots and clever scripts: you will not like this film. Yes, there is nothing supernatural here, but the film catches its lightness and beauty.
Beauty is the main word that swirled in my head while watching. Beautiful Blake Lovely, beautiful dresses, views of San Francisco, music and so on. There are no unusual plot twists in the film, the ending is very predictable, but you can not help enjoying them.
And yet it has a basic idea... Often we don’t appreciate the time we have, we spend it on nonsense. By living each year as Adeline lived for a decade, we can learn so much, so much time. We may not live 107 years, but we can also learn a lot of languages, visit a lot of places and learn a lot. You don’t have to stop getting older.
For romantic girls, it is recommended to watch. Despite the simplicity, the film leaves behind a kind of “aftertaste” and a couple of deep thoughts.
Adaline Bowman. One day, when her life came on hard times, she could not cope with the control of the car and plunged into a pond. But it was a special day. Due to certain events that happened that night (lightning was involved), she stopped aging. Nothing, but they're interested. I had to hide every 10 years.
Jenny Larsson.
But everything is back to normal. In time. In her life, Ellis appears (it turns out to be for a reason). The past is coming back. It is time to decide to live a real life.
Adalin is an ageless woman who “frozen” in the prime of her years. She lives a normal life except that all her men are from different generations.
Incredibly beautiful film, gentle, soft, maybe somewhere a little downbeat, but overall sad, kind and sweet. Good. Blake Lively amazes with its beauty, and she turned out to play very well. Daario Naharis (Michiel Haushman) turned out to be very daarionacharisto - a stunning charm man, and as an actor showed himself very worthy. Harrison Ford, as usual, is great. From his first scene in the film, my breath was choking and goosebumps ran over my skin. He played an almost episodic role.
Despite the fact that you can find fault with the plot in many places, I do not want to do this and I will not, I really liked it, with everything: music, scenery, costumes, all the mince, and the story itself is very touching, despite some naivety and, what a sin to conceal, banality.
A beautiful movie about beautiful people in beautiful clothes and beautiful houses, beautifully loving each other.

Previously, I could not count myself as a special admirer of melodramas, but everything in our lives changes. And tastes included. “The Age of Adalin” became for me the film that made me watch what is happening on the screen. And a similar effect is achieved without expensive special effects, mind-blowing tricks and other tinsel. The tape catches its history and does not let go until the end. Usually, when you watch movies of this direction, you think, you worry, and here everything is different. Here you get used to and become one whole, one.
The entire crew worked above all praise. First of all, I would like to thank the duet of screenwriters in the person of J. Mills Goodlo and Salvador Pashkowitz, whose text without shame can be called perfect. Brilliantly coped with his work, aspiring director Lee Toland Krieger, about whom we have not heard much, but nevertheless he managed to prove that the true talent manifests itself immediately and he did not need to work in the profession of the decade to achieve such amazing creative results as “Age of Adalin”. The music quietly merges and merges with the atmosphere in the picture, for which one can not but praise one of the best composers of our time Robo Simensen (“500 days of summer”). The camera work is also flawless. David Lanzenberg, the film's cameraman, conveyed in an extraordinary way all that is true love. A few simply brilliant shootings, especially nature and the ability to extremely accurately convey the facial expressions and play of actors give the narrative a depth and meaning that even recognized masters of Hollywood cinema would envy.
The selection of actors is wonderful, each of them absolutely accurately conveyed everything that the writers and director laid in the images. Blake Lively... she’s amazing, bright and causes only warm feelings when she laughs, wants to laugh with her, when she cries becomes hard on the soul. But Michael Haushman is different. He lives his love and is ready for any feats for her. In some places, there was a feeling that the actor really experienced everything that he was destined to play and did not leave the image for a minute. He so subtly conveyed all the qualities possessed by his hero, who found his soul mate, that it is simply impossible to doubt his sincerity.
Few love stories can boast of all that is in the Age of Adalin. The film proceeds smoothly, without excessive slowness and haste. All events unfold in strict accordance with logic and nothing goes beyond. Sometimes the film seems very well-calibrated, and nothing special from it should not be expected. And this is perhaps the most important misconception you will encounter in the first minutes of viewing. The director combines the past and the present, intertwines the fates of many people and does not forget about piquancy. Here she is not frank in nature, does not play on vulgar, base feelings, and plays a unique life situation in which father and son fall in love with the same woman. What the first one missed can catch the second.
“Age of Adalin” is a complex and at the same time easy to perceive film that can be imbued with its plot even the most callous personalities. It is impossible to express in words what emotions the heart was filled with when the action came to its conclusion and this sophisticated puzzle was finally assembled and we will be forced to say goodbye to this wonderful story, a magnificent woman and the power of love forever. Maybe we shouldn't say goodbye. You just need to settle the atmosphere of the Age of Adalin in your heart and live according to its precepts.
In the end I will leave, of course I will leave, I have no illusions about immortality (Mr. Jingles left), but I will long for death long before it catches up with me.
Stephen King. Green Mile
A young girl Adalin in the early XX century gets into a car accident. Plunging to the bottom of the pond, she experiences a lightning strike, after which she escapes, but over time she finds a strange feature in herself - her body ceases to age. Decades later, her blossoming appearance begins to raise more questions, and Adalin is forced to flee her hometown, change her name and job. For all its advantages, the effect of agelessness manifests itself in one extremely unpleasant consequence: Adalin simply cannot fall in love with someone, knowing that the life path of her chosen one will be radically different from her fate.
“Age of Adalin” is a very pleasant romantic melodrama, without unnecessary agonizing suffering, stupid moralizing or desperate tears. The idea of eternal life Adaline forced to look at the usual relationship between people from a new point of view: what it is to go with your chosen ones in life not in unison, to have different speed and pace of life, to differ in the very essence of their existence. Of course, Adalin found herself in a fantastic situation, but if desired, this can be perceived as a rather interesting and generally not too long-drawn metaphor about the fundamental differences in people’s worldview, about fleeing from difficulties, about the conscious refusal of happiness due to seemingly insurmountable factors. Melodrama? Sure! A pompous dummy? It's unlikely.
Perhaps the film would have seemed a little less good if not for the charming symbiosis of acting and the mood of the tape. I can’t say that not the most famous actors in the world, Blake Lovely or Michiel Haushman, amazed me with their enchanting performance or showed the wonders of reincarnation, but they were so sweet and natural in the frame, so disposed to themselves, simple and accessible means to convey the story to the audience that it was impossible not to notice the notorious cinematic “chemistry” between them on the screen. Harrison Ford is Harrison Ford. Even in a secondary role, with a surprisingly not fitting beard on his face, he looked decent and decorated a couple of scenes with only his presence in them.
In a word, a worthy film. That’s how I would like to see paintings in the genre of “romantic melodramas”. Based on a non-standard, interesting idea, without excesses in false emotions and with organic acting work. This, of course, is not the level of “500 days of summer” or “One day”, but, in any case, something very cute and cute.

P.S. It was amusing that at some point the characters of Harrison Ford and Katie Baker fall into exactly the same situation that creates a key conflict in the film “45 years” with Charlotte Rampling, but to resolve this misunderstanding takes exactly five minutes instead of one and a half hours of screen time.
Only a real masterpiece can make women and men worry about the outcome of events in unison and react equally to certain turns of the plot. As you can guess, the film caused a storm of emotions, experiences, reflections. In order to experience this film in all its glory, you need to completely immerse yourself in the characters, try to put yourself in their place, dig into their soul, and not just watch their actions. Probably, there is no point in spending time on the film for those who are used to looking superficially, following only the external beauty, and absolutely do not pay attention to the inner world of the characters, which is manifested with the help of deep-thinking glances, complex facial expressions and a whole palette of emotions that are transmitted with the help of just one look.
Honestly, watching the first ten minutes of the film, it will most likely seem to you that neither is an ordinary work of romantic alignment. But it turns out that's the trick! True love requires neither beauty nor money, no matter how trivial it may sound. To get the full range of emotions that are so lacking in our lives, you do not need to force yourself into the frames invented by society! Close your eyes and feel with your heart. And although it sounds trivial, it is the truth. There are many questions in the film, in search of an answer to which, you can stretch your brain a little and think. For example, what causes some women to refuse respectable men and remain alone? Also, after watching the movie, you involuntarily wonder how we should live? Give in to feelings or be rational in everything? The film is full of moments when emotions just spill over the edge. They are especially powerful when Adalin meets people from his distant past. She thought she would never meet them again, but fate is a cunning thing that does not like inefficiencies. Adalin thought that she would never come back, which is why she was worried, because she hurt many of her friends and partially ruined her future. And when she has the opportunity to atone for her sins, the girl does not think long to accept the next gift of providence itself and tries to close all the white pages of life, simultaneously finding love, which was not a sin to wait for a hundred years.
The Age of Adalin can be viewed in different ways. Some viewers may view the story first as an extraordinary journey through space and time akin to the unforgettable Forrsett Gump. The director tries to recreate the inimitable style of Zemeckis and slightly change it, since the center of the new story is not a naive boy, but a self-sufficient woman who has her own views on life. Personally, I tend to consider “Age of Adalin” as a piercing melodrama, telling about how long you can go to love, endure many annoying failures and failures, in order at the end of the journey to be faced with the most difficult choice – to accept what fate offers us, or to abandon it in view of personal considerations that have developed over many years of forced loneliness.
In general, “Age of Adalin” is not as simple as it may seem and this is why it is valuable. Women will definitely like the film, and men will appreciate the idea of its authors. It’s nice to know that films are made that will be equally interesting to both. Isn't that a miracle?
The Age of Adalin is a movie you can’t forget. Few films remain forever in the memory, and most importantly in the heart. It’s a movie you watch with tears in your eyes and a smile in your heart. There is no unnecessary or wrong moment in the film. It’s a movie you want to watch, a story you want to watch, and a love you desperately want to believe in. A true love that overcomes all obstacles in its path. Love until the end of life, until the last minute, until the last breath. Each of us would like to experience something like this, but not everyone succeeds. Watching this magnificent story, I put myself in the place of Adalin herself and felt for myself what love is in its most powerful manifestation. And despite the fact that there is so much in the film that has already been filmed and talked about, it all looks different, extraordinary. Is it not the phantom of the true skill of the director and the undoubted talent of the actors who did not go in front of the camera, but got used to their images, experiencing other people's fates, as if their own? It was this film that so correctly, so subtly and beautifully combined everything that was before.
When you watch The Age of Adalin, you forget about everything, about time, about reality, about frailty. You live with the heroes, you worry about them, you judge them, you hope until the last moment. The structure of the film is not simple. We meet many people, each of whom has a special character, unlike the others. And Adalin needs to build a relationship with each of them. Not necessarily romantic, just friendly. And not everyone is ready to accept a beautiful girl as a companion. This leads to a series of acute situations, whose resolution is like a formidable storm that is not going to subside before it has done all its tricky deeds. It’s an amazing movie and I’m in love with it. Honestly, I didn’t want to cry during the session, but that doesn’t detract from the emotionality of the whole film. Someone, and Lee Toland Rieger knows how to show the fate of a person from different sides and show all his strengths and weaknesses so organically, as if we are talking about your good friend or yourself.
I want to say a few words about the actors. Blake Lively was a revelation to me. I didn’t think of her as a dramatic actress. And now all my doubts about her talent have faded away, as if it never happened. She was able to make a serious groundwork for the Oscar for the main female role and this is not an empty sound for you. Without Lively, this movie wouldn’t have been as powerful and no one would have talked about it so much. I am sure that other viewers will appreciate the efforts of the actress, who becomes a self-confident professional who can become a worthy replacement for Meryl Streep herself.
And although there are no friends in taste and color, those who say that the film is bad or ordinary have never really loved anyone in their life. Or just afraid to believe the most sincere and magical feeling that connected Adalin with Cassie. A feeling that has gone a long way from being in love to being in love. For those of you who haven’t seen this movie, I recommend watching it. You won't regret it.
First I want to say that I was surprised by the story on which the picture is built. It was only through her that the painting aroused my interest. I was hoping to see something new in this genre. But in front of me was another stamped melodrama.
Not only does the film have a very specific narrative, so much of it has a very oppressive atmosphere. During the viewing I could not understand: why do I need a voiceover? He broke the whole story every now and then. Why would the audience need to justify Adalin’s abilities like a bunch of scientific terms mixed into a pseudoscientific cocktail? And the ending was too sweet and did not fit into the atmosphere.
I would also like to note that the persecution of the main character by the government began a little early. It was a shame that this idea was poorly developed.
In my opinion, Harrison Ford was superfluous in the picture and his presence was only for a big name in the credits. Although his character was well spelled out, Harrison Ford simply did not go for this role.
The picture will taste only to fans of this genre.
The introduction of the picture was intrigued - a beautiful tragic story that takes for the soul, but what followed next was not at all impressive.
First, Adalin, which is no more than 100 years old, as if not fully filled, something in it is missing, inherent in wisdom and age.
Secondly, most of the dialogues of the main character and the hero of her heart amaze with emptiness and banality. Not so, it seems, should say and fall in love Adaline – a man with a huge life experience and his attitude to love. All this reminds me of trifling melodramas, the writers will forgive me.
Thirdly, there was not enough charm that would envelope and not let go to the end of the picture, filling with warmth. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the charm of this was not enough when showing the present time, in which Adalin lives. But in the scenes where her past is shown, everything is exactly as it should be, as you want to feel this film.
When evaluating the film, I did not raise my hand to put below 6, but despite the idea, the film was delayed and sometimes tedious, Adalin turned out to be too dull. And although in the final part of the picture returned the emotionality inherent in the melodrama, breaking a tear, the inadequacy of the attitude of all the characters of the film to Adalin causes slight bewilderment and misunderstanding of what is so special about this woman except reading children's books for the blind.
Many, probably, “throw me tomatoes”, but sometimes even masterpieces do not fill the soul to the end and the story seems incomplete.
This is what Ellis, Adalin’s beloved, said when she asked her to say something she would remember for life.
Lee Toland Krieger made a good picture, but only a good one. All the coziness of the picture creates an incredibly charming Blake Lively, playing the role of the main character. The presence of a true legend, Harrison Ford, guarantees interest in the film. So, a little bit of the story.
The main character, Adalin, due to bad weather gets into an accident. The car breaks off the road, falls into a cold river and... the main character dies. But luck, fate or someone else wants to play with it again, and lightning hits the car in the river. Lightning, as a medical defibrillator, revives the heart of Adalin and gives its cells new capabilities, thanks to which Adalin stopped aging. Is it easy to live forever? Seeing the end, the death of everything you hold dear? Is it easy to forget? Here is our heroine and decided not to get attached to anyone, because it hurts to lose, and she has already endured a lot. And, of course, the obsession begins where she meets love.
The film is neither bad nor great. You will not miss anything if you do not see this creation. The most common picture, suitable for a cozy evening under a blanket and / or in the warm company of a loved one. The plot is not different originality, and does it give spicy sci-fi notes? I didn't think so. Throughout the film we see a beautiful picture, excellent camera work, background, warm colors. Not only the eyes, but also the ears will enjoy, because the music immerses us fully in the atmosphere of the film and in the experience of Adaline. Playing actors will not make you doubt what is happening on the screen. And besides the beauty and charm of Blake Lovely, who perfectly played a witty, harActor, wise girl, nothing else impresses the actors in the game.
Having had a good evening in the company of this film, in a week or two, I will most likely follow Ellis’ advice and forget this unremarkable film.

I really liked this movie. A very unusual and interesting story that was shown in the film so subtly, sensually and tenderly. Starting to watch this movie, you plunge into a story full of secrets and the incredible life of the main character. The viewer inevitably begins to think that he made the place of the main character. On the one hand it is very tempting, but on the other hand, this story has two sides of the coin.
This is the story of a woman named Adalin. She was born in the early 20th century and is now a hundred years old. Adalin received the gift or curse of eternal youth. Her whole long life is a secret. She moves from place to place, and in all her long existence, she never allowed herself to fall in love and tell the truth to herself. One day she meets a man, and because of this acquaintance everything changes.
The role of Adalin was successfully selected actress. Blake Lively played brilliantly: with feeling, with deep thinking. Now this actress is always associated with this role. The story of her heroine is exceptional and alluring. She intrigues and beckons with her mystery. You watch the whole film with great pleasure, and the participation of famous actors only brightens up the viewing. In the second roles, it was nice to see such Hollywood veterans as Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn. A beautiful, harmonious duo Lively composed Mikhil Haushman.
I think that it was possible to make a film even longer from the history of this film, to fill it with events from the long life of Adalin. The movie itself is very gentle and a bit hypnotic. Everything is atmospheric and beautiful. Adalin's story is fascinating. After watching this film to the end, you understand that eternal life and youth are only beautiful and incredible packaging, in fact, Adalin would give anything for the opportunity to live an ordinary life. Watching everyone around you grow old and die, and you do not change, scary.
“The Age of Adalin” is a gentle and charming melodrama with a taste of fantasy 2015 directed by Lee Toland Krieger. I was impressed with this movie and said yes. The film is strong and unusual, it is worthy of attention.
P.S. “You’ve had a long life, but you’ve never really lived.”

A century of immortality, for the next century of happiness
"The Age of Adalin" is a stunning fairy tale with its amazing kindness, in which they tried to introduce some scientific background, thereby giving it a significant share of at least visible reliability.
This time I will not write a kilometer review, but just want to briefly write about why you should watch this film in the circle of loved ones, alone or alone.
It’s no secret that the genre of “drama” is now probably one of the few genres that can somehow hook a person in the bustle of everyday life, open his eyes to what is happening around us, to the fact that we sometimes cease to appreciate and love the most necessary things for us and, of course, people.
This film shows love, life, joy, grief, loss... The main character - a person for whom time has lost all meaning - she understands that she has nothing to cling to in life, because everything will go away, and she will remain - and this is her personal tragedy, which is well described in the plot. Only with the appearance of a special person, her life finally changes, she realizes that she is ready to accept fate and share it at least briefly with someone else.
Watching this movie, You can think about the plot, delve into yourself, or you can just relax and take this film, enjoying the peace that it will give you.
It is a pity that there is no higher rating.
Finding true love in 106 years is possible only in the film ... or Very beautiful movie pro-...
The 4th film work in the genre of the full meter of the young 33-year-old American director Lee Toland Krieger was successful: here you and a stunning film-acting ensemble (what is only worth Harrison Ford, who did not hesitate to play a small, but such a significant role in the young director), amazing views of San Francisco from the XX-XXXI centuries, beautiful love, cute dogs of the Cavalier-King-Charles Spaniel breed, tragedy, pain of loneliness and, of course, happy).
A little movie number: a native of San Francisco, Adalyn Bowman was born at 0:01 minutes on January 1, 1908, at the age of 21, 87 days after dating, she marries and 3 years later gives birth to a girl. At almost 30 years old, 10 months after her husband died during the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, she gets into a terrible car accident. The machine falls into a reservoir, Adalin, having survived hypoxia, a state of semi-coma and breathlessness for 2 minutes at a body temperature of 30 degrees, receives a lightning strike of 500 million volts of electricity and 60 thousand amperes of current. Then he comes to himself, and after some time he discovers that he ceases to grow old, and therefore completely changes externally. From now on, her body is not subject to the passage of time: DNA chromosomes lose their elasticity, which leads to a halt in the aging process. Life is changing dramatically...
Attempts to find a scientific explanation for this anomaly are not crowned with success, she is forced to admit the irreversibility of the situation and begin to hide, every 10 years changing her place of residence, documents and appearance, one of the reasons for which is the fact of interest in this phenomenon by the FBI services.
Then the main actions are transferred to 2014, where a stunning man falls in love with her, with whom she is ready to share all the joys and sorrows, but not immediately, for fear of revealing her secret, which she kept for more than 60 years.
The plot is interesting, although not new, until this time more than one film about this phenomenon was shot. Take at least “Youth without youth” by F. Ford Coppola, where the main character played by Tim Roth also gets struck by lightning and acquires eternal youth, or “The mysterious story of Benjamin Button”, where the aging process goes in reverse, and where there is also a fact with lightning, or echoes reminiscent of the film “Forever Young” with Mel Gibson in the title role.
Returning to the “Age of Adalin”, I want to note, albeit unremarkable, but worthy work of the young actress Blake Lively. This role, in my opinion, is valuable for the piggy bank of filmography and truly a gift for any actress. For unknown reasons, Natalie Portman refused the role at the time, and if she had given her consent, the film would not have lost it for sure, but the role, in my opinion, would have acquired more drama and fatality. What can not be said about the Dutch actor with the Russian name Michael Haushman, stunningly fit into the framework of the image of the romantic Alice, who clearly demonstrated the fact how beautiful a real man is, who is not shy of showing his feelings for the one in which it is simply impossible not to fall in love: she is beautiful, feminine, refined, exquisite, kind, educated, not dependent, without a touch of unnaturalness, a book lover, with a sense of humor, perfectly drives a car, “aweaking woman”, in honor of whom comets are called, and most importantly, intelligent. During her life, you could learn a dozen languages, but she managed to demonstrate knowledge so far only Portuguese and Italian.
“Years, lovers, and glasses of wine are things you don’t have to count.” – Italian proverb
She is not alone: she has a passionately loving daughter, a beloved dog, not many friends, a quiet job, a lot of memories and ... an ocean of fear that they will all leave this world before her, and in particular the fear of not being with a loved one and growing old with him.
Adalin: “Love is impossible without a future.” Together to meet old age, without this love brings pain.

Here you will not find forgiveness, patience, walls of obstacles and the abyss of generations, but you will find love, love and love again. "Where is it?" you ask, in the movie "The Age of Adalin," I answer.
The film is interesting, not delayed, with a small amount of drama.
A little-known director – Lee Toland Krieger, the film was a success. The actors played well, but they could have done better. Especially, I want to note – Harrison Ford, who who, and he played his role perfectly, despite the fact that not so much picture time – he was provided, but still, he managed to convey the feelings that a person feels when he truly and faithfully loves.
The film is about Adalin, who lives in fear of society, in fear of herself, afraid to reveal her feelings and tell the truth to her loved one. It is intelligent, slender, beautiful, like an unfading flower.
After the arrest, from which our heroine manages to escape, she is forced to constantly hide, after this moment, she becomes more circumspect, and creates rules for herself that she must adhere to all her life. The film smoothly transitions from the present time Adalin in the past and back.
I liked the film with some skepticism, but not enough to be revisited. A one-time view, which may well be on the list of strong middlings.
Stop, Adalin. You have found the only one from whom you can no longer escape.
A lot of films have already been shot, the main theme of which is eternal life. The heroine Adalin from a certain point in her life (which can not be explained scientifically) does not change appearance. She doesn't age outwardly. In order to avoid scientific research, Adalin runs away from home and is forced to change her name every 10 years. It is also worth noting the fact that Adalin does not age and soul: a century has passed after the day of her birth, and she gets along well in the modern world and behaves as if she had not lived before a whole era. The heroine cannot reveal her secret, so she remains alone. Time after time, she is forced to flee from those who love her and whom she has fallen in love with. But does Adalin want to continue running without living? Especially when I met a man who fell in her heart at first sight.
It was a beautiful movie. In every way. The budget for a drama is quite large, so the picture is so pleasant and beautiful. It is impossible not to mention the beauty of the heroine, which half consists of the charming Blake Lively and 50% already of the inner beauty of Adalin. She's smart, educated, interesting. Having lived a long life, she learned a lot and naturally stands out from others. I will also mention the dialogue between the main characters. In this regard, Adalin found her equal in the sharpness and sophistication of her partner’s speech.
To say that the story of the heroine is very bright, unpredictable and charming is impossible, because there is nothing special in it (as for the story of eternal life). As I believe, initially the film did not claim the highest marks and status of the legendary. "Age of Adalin" is not from the category of "must see". The goal was to qualitatively and beautifully shoot a slightly fantastic story of one woman who all her life did nothing but “run away and forget.” This goal has been achieved.
“Age of Adalin” will not make you think about something, draw any conclusions from what you have seen. But, if you have the desire to dilute the evening with a beautiful fairy tale, then this is exactly what you need.
7 out of 10
A fabulously beautiful story about a woman, with warmth and affection, gently wrapped in sadness and sadness. An indescribable set of feelings, meanings and images sweep through your head, like that comet Dell, when you see how the perfectly elegant and intelligent behavior of Adalin demonstrates somewhere timid and shy, somewhere wise and kind-hearted, but always sincere reaction to various events inherent in the life line of people.
The atmosphere of the film is filled with romance and beauty, it is felt literally in everything. And the landscapes that are here and there flash like fleeting memories, and the music to suit the mood, and the choice of style for the main character, and those situations in which the viewer will visit – everything works for a common cause and is very, very well matched for each other. Each scene is literally imbued with feelings of different colors. Play actors at a height, I really want to believe in what is happening.
The story is a little predictable, but no less sweet to the heart. In every movie, there are conventions that must be accepted in order to move on, to get rid of the usual way of thinking. But if you do that and you get into this story, this atmosphere, these events, believe them. Oh, you can't put it into words, you have to watch it. One smile is worth it.
It would seem desirable most healthy and full-fledged people gift as “eternal life at a young age” does not bring joy to the main character Adalin. She loves but walks away, sees her daughter grow old, sees those she knew die. The heroine runs not from herself or from people who are dear to her, but from those fears and pain that she is forced to experience. Would you like to see your children grow old in your eternal youth? Could you survive the aging and death of a loved one, not to mention the feelings and pain he or she feels, knowing that together you will not go through the natural course of life? Behind the main storyline, all these questions go through some dialogues of the characters of the film.
Blake Lovely as Adalin is romantic, wise and very fragile, but at the same time will, character, strength form the image of a real and unique woman in a single copy! Blake's excellent blonde performance plunges into the almost truthfulness of such a story. Good musical accompaniment, the presence of romantic moments in the film, the sincerity of feelings and the open manifestation of a different spectrum of emotions, soft and pleasant tones of the frames definitely determines the film for viewing in a love tandem - a man and a woman!
The film is a bit long from the beginning, so it is worth waiting for the moment when events become more dynamic, and more than three main characters will appear in the frame. I recommend watching on a quiet and warm evening at home!
A film that makes us see once again that the world is theater and we are actors. How great is life, every breath, every moment. We are grains of sand in a universe where humans have only a small fraction. Everyone should give their all. Always Carpe diem.
I didn’t admire the painting, but I did enjoy it. It is worth considering some nuances: the film is very stretched, tedious and monotonous. I think if it wasn’t for the great cast, led by the great Blake Lively and Harrison Ford, the scores would be much lower. The acting game is sensual and insightful, subtle movements, fascinating glances. But I wanted passion, sincerity, and in love between the characters I did not believe, Harrison Ford was the most convincing, but his story never found an interesting ending.
Unusually the presence of the author, i.e. voiceover, accompanying us through all the turmoil and obstacles, as if you are led by the hand in a fabulous forest. Each frame is beautifully lined up, which is only worth the moment when Adalin, sitting in the car, raised her head upstairs and saw snow falling. For me, it was an aesthetic pleasure, how beautifully the light and the inspiring look of the heroine fell. Very sensitive and insightful. Shooting is also high.
The plot slims. It is not completely clear what the emphasis is on – a love melodrama or a story about loneliness. Actions could be made more active and lively, otherwise each scene ends sadly or tragically.
If I'm going to revisit this picture, it's because of the beautiful shooting. In general, you get pleasure from watching, but there is no emotional intensity, although during the scene with the dog shed a tear, but this is a weakness of many animal-loving people.
"The Age of Adalin": a hundred years of loneliness
One of the most magical, romantic paintings of 2015 - "The Age of Adalin" - takes the viewer into the world of dreams and fantasies, not forgetting about important questions about human life and immortality.
Is there any girl in the world who can say with confidence, “No, I don’t want to stay young and beautiful forever?” Turns out there is! The filmmakers presented the story of 106-year-old Adalin and tried to prove that not all dreams and desires are destined to come true. And that's for the best. Did they succeed?
The heroine of the film, Adaline Marie Bowman, was born on January 1, 1908 in the United States. She was a real beauty, married for great love and raised a little daughter. Her life was full and happy until her husband died in the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. Adaline thought that nothing worse could happen. But all that changed one cold night in 1935, when she got behind the wheel of a car in the snow.
Bowman failed to manage. The car skidded, it flew right into the cliff. Falling into the icy water, Adalin died almost instantly. But then there was “something incredible, even magical”: lightning, hitting exactly the same place where the car fell, brought the girl back to life – a strong discharge of current acted as an impulse, again “starting” her heart. The 27-year-old is still alive and well. But all the chemical and biological processes in her body stopped: from that day she stopped aging.
The main role in the “Age of Adalin” was played by Blake Lively – an actress who became famous thanks to the youth series “Gossip Girl”, as well as the films “The Private Life of Pippa Lee” and “Particularly Dangerous”. In this film, Lively, the owner of a good sense of style and taste, tried on a dozen different outfits and hairstyles characteristic of a particular decade. Her heroine lives all her life “on suitcases”, nowhere staying more than 10 years. She takes new names, documents, breaks ties with everyone she knows. No one should understand that it does not age.
The cast for the picture picked up an impressive: Michiel Haushman, beloved Adalin, as much as possible away from the image of the bellicose Daario Naharis from “Game of Thrones”, and Harrison Ford is present here more “for weight”, creating the necessary intrigue to attract viewers. Ellen Burstyn touchingly and soulfully portrays a daughter-"grandmother", about whom Adalin is constantly concerned. The narration of “The Century” breaks flashbacks from the past of the main character, giving the classic plot “they loved, but could not be together” new shades and meanings, not letting the viewer get bored.
Epochs, political leaders, fashion change, and Adalin is still young, fresh and good. Her daughters are in their 70s, and many of the people she loved have long since died. She can't show up in their lives to tell them how much she loves them. All she has to do is run, hide.
“You’ve lived a long life, but you’ve never lived,” says Harrison Ford, whom Adalin dated in her youth and whom she loved madly. Adalin isn't sure if she can do that - just live. It was only after spending a century in endless running that she realized that there is nothing more important than love and understanding, because immortality is a kind of prison. What kind of happiness can there be?
This film is a fascinating mix of plot moves, the roots of which can be found in “The Mysterious Story of Benjamin Button”, “Portrait of Dorian Gray”, in most vampire films, as well as in the classic story of “Peter Pan”. The theme of “eternal youth” is well mastered by foreign cinema – Jim Jarmusch’s latest film “Only Lovers Will Survive” is filmed about the lives of two immortals, but it was the young director Lee Toland Krieger who found such a sincere note for the “Age of Adalin” that allows you to tell the difficult story of Adalin’s life without a serious and moralistic tone. Balancing on the verge of genres - drama and melodrama - "Age of Adalin" causes the audience acute tearing or tenderness every few minutes.
The film turned out to be chamber: this is the case when all the magic of film narration is lost from being in a huge popcorn hall. This film is best watched at home in a quiet, calm atmosphere to be ready in less than two hours to live a century with Adalin.
An Italian proverb says, “Never count your years, your loved ones, and your glasses of wine.” The story of Marie Bowman’s Adalyn proves once again that age is just a number, which fortunately has absolutely no relation. Krieger managed to create a film that deserves to be a "modern classic." Romantics are recommended to watch.
Very touching film that can not leave indifferent. I was going to see it for a long time, and here I come across the amazing life of Adalin. Charming and fragile woman who by coincidence can not grow old. She runs away from everyone, including herself.
Blake Lovely did a great job in this role, I can’t imagine anyone else in this place. She managed to convey all the emotions, she smiles and wants to smile back, cries and I suddenly become sad.
To me, the idea is not that immortality and eternal youth are torment, but that we have the opportunity to grow old with a loved one. This is a great gift that we rarely think about. The film is filled with infinitely warm emotions that you experience and absorb. I don’t really like melodramas, but this one touched part of my soul so much that I wanted to see the movie again.
I recommend it and I know I’ll watch it again!

A film that raises the problems that every person, not devoid of emotionality, faces in their lives. We all seek love and understanding. We all lose love, feel the pain of loss, and we all want to be loved and needed. This film tells us very gently, very beautifully about the most important things in life. The romantic story, which is the main plot, is also complemented by the complexity of a constant series of losses. We look at what life can be like if we don’t let ourselves live. Do not accept love, do not strive to love without looking back.
This film also shows us that nature did not create man mortal for nothing. How devalued and lost the meaning of life without end. And if you think about it, we're all rushing somewhere, trying to feel the moment, because we realize that our century is finite. It's our drama. We live with it.
The main character is just amazing. Very sensual. The role is just made for her. Its charming beauty and softness allow the viewer to feel more deeply all those emotions that are hidden in the basis of the plot.
How strange and wild is the situation that has developed between mother and daughter by the will of space. And this savagery and abnormality just shows what problems can lurk behind the infinity of being.
I don't know much about melodramas, so when my sister turned on this movie, I didn't know what to expect from it. I ended up enjoying this wonderful painting. It’s not that everything in the film is done at a high level. It's just that the movie gets to the heart. The characters on the screen live like real people. Everything in the film is connected with the feelings that the characters have for each other. Despite all the level of fantasy, which is quite high here, you believe in what is happening on the screen. Yes, the film is similar to Disney fairy tales, but this makes it only more beautiful, because everything that happens on the screen is nothing but a fairy tale.
This film opened for me a genre like melodrama, with which I personally was not familiar. All romantics and dreamers must watch! Well, my score for the film is 10 out of 10. I got a lot of feelings from the movie that I rarely feel. The review is short, but this is my first review. I'm sorry if something's wrong.
After hearing a huge number of positive reviews about the melodrama “Age of Adalin”, only after a while I decided to watch it. And it was a good thing. Despite the fact that the long-running story of Gossip Girl with Blake Lively in the title role ended about four years ago, I somehow felt that this actress could not surprise me with anything new. But as it turned out, I was very wrong.
“The Age of Aladdin” is a picture showing the unlikeliest story of the life and love of Adalyn Bowman. Although the plot initially and seems very unreal (although, in fact, it is), by the middle of the film you are drawn so much that you almost never stop looking at the screen.
Separately, I want to note the work of costumers and makeup artists. It depended on them whether the atmosphere of those times, each of the life stages of the main character will be transferred.
Perhaps the film would not have been so interesting without the wonderful creative tandem of Michael Huisman and Blake Lively. A love story that inspires confidence that miracles happen in the world and there is still a love in the world that is ready to break all obstacles.
So, I think that the film “Age of Adalin” is still a worthwhile thing that will help us plunge into the atmosphere of the last century, will make us empathize with the heroes and give an unforgettable impression of watching.

Adalin is a girl who has stopped growing old after an accident. She's been living in the world for a century, and every 10 years she has to move so people don't suspect anything. But what happens when you find the love of your life?
Opinion
It’s one of the coolest melodramas I’ve seen lately. However, it is worth considering that I do not really like melodramas and do not particularly watch them.
Of course, this movie is full of snot and things like that. But if that doesn’t scare you, you can easily take a cup of gull in one hand, placing a plate of chocolate cookies within reach, and with the other hand hug your beloved woman, giving her at least one evening without “World of Tanks”, and turn on this movie. And if you yourself are a beloved woman, you can snuggle yourself up to your man, along the way dragging cookies from a plate that you swore not to eat in the morning, as you are on a strict diet. This is definitely a movie you can spend the evening on.
And those who are not burdened with relationships, may well watch this film in order to criticize it later!
The idea of a film about an ageless and undying woman and her life is simple, but presented very well and with taste.
The main actress looks and plays nicely, while making the film itself pleasant. Although, I am sure that many of her game may seem superficial and one-sided.
Fantastic (although it would be more correct to say fabulous or even fantasy) element of the Age of Adalin does not loom anywhere in the background, but is a constant companion of the viewer, giving rise to the drama and tragedy of the main character and people around her, looking more important than the love line, which here is rather a secondary element.
The film is calm and sluggish. It can hardly be called boring.
But this movie is missing something. Something else had to be added to make the movie a really cool melodrama for decades. For example, it was quite possible to twist the plot and add more drama. This movie is not a big or big movie.
Any more minuses?
In my opinion, it was possible to show the feelings of the main character to a man who here is like her love, somehow brighter. We don’t see much passion for him. No, I understand that she is a wise old woman in a young guise, tired of running, but if he really is her fate, then there is something to show at least some passionate craving for the object of lust, if she is any special.
It would be possible to show more of the past of the main character, because there must be a lot of interesting things.
In addition, in the picture there is a strong bias towards Adalin. Everything revolves around her, not giving any other hero a chance to prove himself. There is only her, and everyone else is spinning around behind her back.
Verdict
In its genre, the film is very good. Do you like melodrama? So it's okay to watch. The film is at least memorable.
Again, the mirror lied to me, and I've been like this for many years.
That’s how writers like to make Blake Lovely a sickeningly sweet positive heroine. And I still want and ask to see her in the image of some villain, well, or at least that she was not so kind and fluffy, well, too much, no?
Century Adalin has been screaming since the poster that Blake here will be exactly the kind of sugary dessert from which I get an unbearable toothache. But there was no choice, and time was spent, so it went.
Mrs. Lovely simply grandiosely accomplished her task, she is here and sweet, and beautiful, highly intelligent, sweet and all-all the epithets of nice ladies can be applied to her. Such an idealized person simply does not happen. Therefore, the attitude towards it as if you can wait somewhere for a trick, in general, this is an unpleasant distrust. The actress nurses the whole time of the film with a similar square face and a couple of times under the script lets an artificial tear in very limited quantities. Of course, the romantic ladies have already realized the whole fate and hardships of Adele, but if we consider people who are already stronger in their brains, not the 15-year-old audience raised on Twilight. Will another person find this film terribly romantic, atmospheric or logical?
And it is not about the logic that I say that this does not happen, people have not lived for a hundred years. With this science fiction, I do not even argue, let the creators explain it as they want, but just further, the logic in the characters themselves and their behavior puts the viewer in an open dead end. Not so good.
If you look at the picture itself, it is all contradictory to me. It seems that the costumes are nothing, and color correction is not bad. But in fact, we are shown several different eras, with their own fashion and some attributes. But in the film all this merges into one, there are no color transitions, there are no special changes and all this is sluggish and long flows.
Generally, I can say that the film seems to fulfill the role of the declared melodrama and romance in it not for one handkerchief, but somehow everything is delusional, boring and gray, and the narrative in the monotonous voice of the priest that the deceased sings, drives even more into dismay. Well, if you are a terribly compassionate nature, yes romantic, then welcome, this is not Sparks of course, but the film will not fall into the mud. Mediocre and too dreary.
