Again, the mirror lied to me, and I've been like this for many years.
That’s how writers like to make Blake Lovely a sickeningly sweet positive heroine. And I still want and ask to see her in the image of some villain, well, or at least that she was not so kind and fluffy, well, too much, no?
Century Adalin has been screaming since the poster that Blake here will be exactly the kind of sugary dessert from which I get an unbearable toothache. But there was no choice, and time was spent, so it went.
Mrs. Lovely simply grandiosely accomplished her task, she is here and sweet, and beautiful, highly intelligent, sweet and all-all the epithets of nice ladies can be applied to her. Such an idealized person simply does not happen. Therefore, the attitude towards it as if you can wait somewhere for a trick, in general, this is an unpleasant distrust. The actress nurses the whole time of the film with a similar square face and a couple of times under the script lets an artificial tear in very limited quantities. Of course, the romantic ladies have already realized the whole fate and hardships of Adele, but if we consider people who are already stronger in their brains, not the 15-year-old audience raised on Twilight. Will another person find this film terribly romantic, atmospheric or logical?
And it is not about the logic that I say that this does not happen, people have not lived for a hundred years. With this science fiction, I do not even argue, let the creators explain it as they want, but just further, the logic in the characters themselves and their behavior puts the viewer in an open dead end. Not so good.
If you look at the picture itself, it is all contradictory to me. It seems that the costumes are nothing, and color correction is not bad. But in fact, we are shown several different eras, with their own fashion and some attributes. But in the film all this merges into one, there are no color transitions, there are no special changes and all this is sluggish and long flows.
Generally, I can say that the film seems to fulfill the role of the declared melodrama and romance in it not for one handkerchief, but somehow everything is delusional, boring and gray, and the narrative in the monotonous voice of the priest that the deceased sings, drives even more into dismay. Well, if you are a terribly compassionate nature, yes romantic, then welcome, this is not Sparks of course, but the film will not fall into the mud. Mediocre and too dreary.
Romantic melodrama with elements of fiction, I will not say that left an indelible impression, but added to the list of similar tapes that can always be included and viewed again. So, for example, the paintings “Intuition”, “House by the Lake”, “Family” and a number of others, which are now casually difficult to remember, are very high-quality works of art, telling about love despite everything.
Charming Adalin, few will believe, lives on our land for more than a hundred years and remains still young. Due to a tragic coincidence, she died in 1932 (it seems) year, but came to life. Since then, her body has ceased to age, and the girl herself had to hide and avoid close communication with people, because for science her body has become a desirable piece of cake. However, that all changed when Adalin met a stranger at a New Year's Eve party. Having allowed herself to fall in love, for the first time in decades, she will have to survive a love drama in which she and a young student from America were the main characters.
Briefly and concisely, a beautiful and light film. A wonderful love story, telling both about this trembling feeling and about the unwillingness to love due to circumstances. Although love films have a similar plot, according to which lovers cannot be together, but in the end reunite, nevertheless, each has its own separate storyline.
In the case of The Age of Adalin, it’s a fantastic component, yet the narrator is reduced to rigorous scientific facts. In general, this circumstance left its positive imprint, because the film became even more interesting to watch.
The creators tried not just to say that Adalin stopped aging, but substantiated this fact from a scientific point of view. Also here I liked the logical chain, which began a meteorite colliding with the moon – another reason, by the way, to think about the fact that in our world all things are interconnected.
I was also pleased with the choice of the actress for the role of the main character of the film. Refined and elegant Blake Lively successfully coped with his task, brilliantly showing on the screen and aristocratic person, and vulnerable nature, and a loving woman.
The only downside to the film is (maybe our translators made a mistake here) the age mismatch. According to the story, the daughter Adalin went to college at the age of 14 (the exact years of her education and birth I do not remember – who will watch this film, will understand).
I recommend watching this movie with my other half. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed because the film is so romantic and beautiful.
Adalyn Marie Bowman was born on the first of January 1908. Years later, she started a family. But on the cold night of 1935, Adalin’s life changed forever. Nothing incredible happened that night, not even magical. From that time on, Adalin remained unaffected by the passage of time – she no longer aged for a single day.
Personally, these fifty words were enough for me to immediately start watching and have 112 minutes of fun. What the film is not difficult to guess, what is the problem of the main character, too. We have seen similar stories before, but this one is worth seeing at least for the sake of the beautiful Blake Lively, but even more will please an interesting and fascinating idea and no less interesting and fascinating its presentation.
Light, touching, flawless - you can throw adjectives to the right and left. But to really convince you, this is probably the best romantic film of the year.

Nice face, calm tones, slowness of events. Perhaps, even too "slow slowness". Here is what I would like to note from the things that to some extent pleasantly stroked the mood and initial impression.
Okay. Since the "i> century" Adalin - we are ready to see the beautiful, bright, full of impressions of the life of a girl hit by grail lightning, who escaped from the powerful oppressive hand of science, whose servants for some reason appeared as uncompromising and uncompromising people in black. But. There was too much “but” to satisfy this (my) audience readiness.
The film is built on the mixing of the present (consisting of escapes and changes in appearance) with intersperses from the past that sometimes burst into the life of Adalin. She avoids them in every way, but her behavior is ambiguous. Hiding her age and herself, the girl attends social gatherings and shines with erudition so guilelessly that she seems to want to emphasize: “Hey, there is clearly something wrong with me!” I want to note in this regard one important drawback of the film (and the character): throughout the “century” we are shown little love stories of Adalin, her life, but it is not the same. It's full of cute little things, but only... No genius, painstaking study of books and several languages - all this as if from the ceiling thrown with a challenge to the viewer: "Enjoy and so!" It was necessary to justify the giant all-knowing conceit of Adalin to make it look adequate. Beauty, photos, love and holiday photos - this is the reality of her memories. No backstory about the perfect memory, fascination with baseball, boxing and other things, the details of which so incomprehensibly stuck in the head of a cute girl who did nothing but collect thousands of facts in her head to ... win on the occasion in “Interesting Facts”? Only 60 years. This is not the time to say, “I have lived my life.” In my opinion, they take too short a period of time to talk about the unimaginability of what happened, the comet that left a bright light. Trace - but what? Discovery, help people... oh, how much could be done in an endless life instead of hiding from others, enjoying his omnipotence and forced to suffer from rare dates with his daughter. Involuntarily recalls “Groundhog Day”, where the hero took advantage of his strange and desperate situation and seized on everything for which, with proper inspiration, active hands and brain could seize. Adalin preferred to enjoy her beauty in photos of bygone times, to go through her life and hide, hide, hide.
I expected more. 20 minutes before the end, I was hoping for something that saved the movie. He remained just as calm. 2 long, too passive, not too bright hours of life in a hundred years, an unjustified hundred years. Wishing the plot and writers: if you gave it to Phil Connors, he would have managed it much better.
For the silence, the views of San Francisco and the attempt to give the story a romantic fairy tale (not too bad),

Fantasy melodrama "Age of Adalin" in truth a little sweet, and from films of this type, I should start headaches and panic attacks. If it were not for one virtue acting as the main stabilizer - the work of Lee Toland Krieger, it is interesting to watch, and to the story shown you have real feelings. The plot is worked out and holistic, the script is smooth, there is no terrible sagging material. The main actress who played the role of Adaline Blake Lively generally has a huge potential, just smart, with his role coped perfectly.
And history itself, its society, the whole epoch witnessed by our young person, is nothing but a factually true chronicle of the twentieth century. Of course, inside the plot itself, it was not without shoals and roughnesses, they are just satellites of this genre, and they managed to hide, only thanks to the fact that the story is provided with truly original, it tries to be her.
Although it is somewhat reminiscent of Fincher’s “The Story of Benjamin Baton”, but then the classic charm and the necessary warmth were added to the sadness. Technically and with all the minor actors, the film is a head taller, the other, which is very much like it, good, but sustained frankly weak “Love through time”, and all its predecessors it is head taller.
After all, here unfolds the tragedy of an immortal girl, whose sorrow is hidden inside her soul. About the beautiful girl who can not find a person with whom she wants to spend the rest of her days, should not leave the viewer indifferent, thanks to her excellent performance and purity of emotional presentation, the only thing that will scare away is the sugary plot. After all, having nothing special, the film is still great. Since it is really noticeable to the naked eye, the author tries to express himself about the passage of time of true love and about the value of the absence of immortality, living a simple life.
On the surface is the secret of the film. It’s a rare case where the name so vividly explains what’s been going on for almost two hours. Attention is distracted by physico-mathematical calculations, which sound like a book in Norwegian from umlauts over vowels, in fact everything is simple!
"Age" - age, duration, term. Time! Run somewhere, hide, learn languages, make successful investments, work, periodically meet someone. For what? To prove to yourself that you are alive, that you still feel something, because there is nothing else to feel. And I want to learn how to jump like Isinbayeva to swing over the wall, behind which everything happens! Don't waste time whining. It sounds interesting to waste time. The intangible substance, the transparency around us, the air we breathe in and out, the things that remain behind us and still loom ahead. It's all time. And it is spent even when we do something necessary. The very moment you sit down on the toilet, in Los Angeles, Andy Fickman signs a contract to film The Goddess in the Kitchen. And sometimes someone spends their time waiting for you by the toilet.
Adalin is a metaphor for any person who is serving his life in a goalless race somewhere. He continues to run, although no one is chasing him anymore.
In the end? “Today I’m dying, I got shot off my head, Don’t look for paradise on Earth!” Fall in love and suffer! That's the only feeling that matters. If there is someone to hold on to and with whom to go hand-in-hand, then even a gray hair in the hairstyle is like a happy beacon, that life moves and something happens, tomorrow will be different, and what is unknown. But the one who supports is there.
The film is bright, a letter to romantics, where the postage stamp is beautiful Blake Lively. It will not leave indifferent such a strange film about love. A touching marmalade interstellar.
The theme of eternal life (certainly complete with eternal youth), being in fact not so easy for critical reflection, and then inspires filmmakers. And every time they try to present this problem to the viewer from at least a new angle: some see immortality and eternal youth as a kind of forbidden and desirable fruit (get Twilight and sign), others put eternal youth as a kind of given and obligation for everyone without exception (the stupidity of Andrew Niccol’s Time to help you), etc.
Without a doubt, the only thing that remains is that the theme of immortality is very graceful in dramatic terms, and intersperses of fiction can come very handy. Just some relate to the disclosure of the problem lazily and carelessly, while others try to delve into the essence of what can happen to the owner of this gift / curse in the realities of quite ordinary life.
And in fact, the main character of the film Adeline Bowman, being quite an ordinary woman for her time, in no case did she aspire to eternal life. It's just that the circumstances have developed in such a strange and improbable way at a particular point in time and space that she has received this gift. In principle, this moment of fiction in the film is exhausted, the rest of the timekeeping is devoted to the disclosure of the emotional aspect of such a life. Adelaine certainly doesn’t immediately come to understand how different she is now, but realizing this after many decades in no way reconciles her with the world and people. On the one hand, she needs to periodically change documents and move to a new place, so as not to become a model for the authorities. On the other hand, the death of loved ones distances her from society and makes her avoid new emotional attachments.
And this unenthusiastic view of eternal life appeals to me personally, because the film makes it clear what a burden this gift can become after many years. After all, all human life, as well as the existence of all mankind, is literally imbued with an awareness of our mortality, the finiteness of our existence. In fact, because of this understanding, we build our lives this way and not otherwise. In the case of the main character of the film, no accumulated experience and no wisdom will reduce the wall of distrust and alienation that slowly and inevitably grows between her and the outside world.
And this important idea is very cleverly presented in the film, and the almost inevitable melodramatic component quite successfully helps to reveal the topic. Yes, there are almost inevitable clichés in this genre, but this does not spoil the overall impression. Moreover, Blake Lively coped well with the lead role, and in fact, I did not take this actress seriously before (and films like Green Lantern did not reduce skepticism). Here she demonstrates a very subtle and unobtrusive game, favoring herself and causing sympathy. The secondary characters also pleased: Harrison Ford as always charming and appropriate in his role, Ellen Burstyn in a similar role I have already observed in Interstellar (a funny coincidence), Mikhail Haushman includes personal charm at full capacity, since the character itself carries a rather decorative function.
Being a very modest and devoid of box office ambitions fantastic melodrama, "The Age of Adeline" manages to pleasantly surprise and delight that for this genre is now rare. The film demonstrates a rather sober and unenthusiastic view of eternal life and eternal youth, without slipping into depression and cynicism. At the same time, there is no excessive flirtation with gender stereotypes, which also gives this story a great advantage. And this is exactly what makes Age of Adeline a wonderful representative of its genre.
Very spontaneously and unexpectedly began to watch this film, breaking away from another movie marathon. The fact is that I heard that the plot is tied to two of my favorite themes: eternal youth and love.
First of all, I want to say that the film is incredibly beautiful. Each individual frame pleases the eye!
Second of all, I want to say that I received the lion’s share of romance and love to the grave, so my soul is very satisfied!
In the third place, I want to say that the film also touches on one of my favorite topics – in life you need to do exactly what you like, and it’s never too late to give up the unnecessary and start the necessary.
Many people compare the film with “The Story of Benjamin Button” and “The Wife of a Time Traveler”, which is natural, given the plot. I like the story so much that it surpassed Batton in my eyes, which is a lot because I love the story. But I can’t give “The Time Traveler’s Wife” away... it’s still one of my favorite movies.
Speaking of actors, I now understood in the full sense of words, when a friend of mine called the character Blake. Serena from the series "Gossip Girl" chic! In “Gossip Girl” I didn’t feel it, but here Blake was “b” gorgeous in every sense: from appearance and style to elusive charm. I really believed that her character Adaline was 107 years old, and when she talked to the character Ellen Burstyn, I really believed that the latter was her daughter, and Adalin was a caring mother, although the picture said otherwise.
If we talk about Michiel Haushman, it is something with something! Or rather someone, it's some hellish mixture of James McAvoy, Eric Bana and Christian Bale in one bottle! I watched his filmography - he played in "Wild". I don’t remember him point-blank, maybe because he wore lenses in this film, because the actor has blue eyes in the picture, and the film has brown eyes. He should always wear these lenses! Very impressive - brutal!
I also want to mention Harrison Ford, who would have thought that chemistry is possible between him and Blake, but it is possible! There's more gunpowder in the powder!
Well, I have already spoken about B. B. B. in passing, and I will say it again. I really felt her as a daughter, I don’t know, I think it’s very hard to imagine that a 29-year-old girl is your mother if you’re under 70.
In general, the film is definitely worth watching!
In 2008, the famous, even more correct would be to say wildly popular film director David Fincher suddenly changed himself and shot not a thriller, the genre that brought him this success (the tapes “Seven”, “Game”, “Fight Club” forever entered the annals of cinema), but a fabulous, fantastic film “The Mysterious Story of Benjamin Button”, where the main character, played by Brad Pitt, was born an old man, and as he grew older, so to speak. His time, unlike the rest of us, turned back. The film was nominated for numerous awards, although, hand on heart, if not for the authoritative names of David Fincher, Brad Pitt and Kate Blanchett, around this picture would not be such a hype. As confirmation of the said words, an example of the picture “The Age of Adalin”, shot by a little-known director Lee Toland Krieger, and actors Blake Lively and especially Harrison Ford are famous, but collectively inferior in fame and devotion to fans Brad Pitt and Kate Blanchett.
The film "Adaline Age" tells the same fantastic story of one person, whose life time is different from all other humanity, but, in general, this picture is about loneliness, when you are not at all like everyone else and how you hide from yourself you can not run away. Adalyn Bowman (Blake Lively) once had an accident, she experienced hypothermia, cardiac arrest, and then came back to life. These terrible events together made Adalin amazing metamorphosis: she never gets old for a day. Some might rejoice at such a gift of fate, but now Adalin is forced to hide, otherwise not only would the government and corporations chase her (although this option is not mentioned in the film) to find out how to become immortal, but the people around whom Adalin lived would be unhappy to see them age against her background. And in general, she wants to live the life that all other people live.
Blake Lively’s Adalyn Bowman will captivate someone, and someone will touch her out of pity, because her look, which she so diligently hides, is filled with sadness and longing. She feels like an outcast, who is given to understand her pain and suffering? The film’s cameraman David Lanzenberg often stops the frame on the close-up of Blake Lively: in this case, the viewer must feel the entire emotional state of the heroine, understand her range of experiences from the chosen decisions. The not-quick pace of the picture helps the viewer to be an invisible witness, whispering to Adalin that she must take this step, she must stop running away from everyone, because in fact she is running away from herself. And it happens. But it only happens when the power of love takes everything into its own hands. Adalin is at a crossroads when he meets a new boyfriend he loves and meets his past love. It was the strong emotional background in these moments that brought the picture to a fairly high rating, equal to just over 7 points, which according to the five-point system can be equated to 4.
I haven’t seen the Gossip Girl series, which brought Blake Lively popularity and success. The wedding to Ryan Reynolds could not but affect her status. It remains only to prove their worth in a full-length film. She left a good impression of her performances in “City of Thieves” and “Specially Dangerous”, but to be astounding, this cannot be said. The lead role in The Age of Adalin gave her the chance to convince everyone that she deserved to play serious dramatic roles. Not everything was smooth in this role with Lively, but the main scenes she played on a high note, almost alone working to create a special atmosphere of the film. We'll see how it goes, but Lively still needs to work on himself. Harrison Ford is Harrison Ford, he can't play mediocre anymore, he's always strong, what do you do with this great actor? Michel Huisman, like Lively, came out of television. It was obvious how the actor is trying, trying to cling to the opportunity to be in the big movie, but like Lively, he was not so smooth, but still his efforts deserve to be noted from the positive side.
"Age of Adalin" can hardly be attributed to the strongest melodramas, but from the other side, the film is not a lost time. A languid, methodical, sneaking tape that tells how the all-conquering power of love can bring back to life even those who have become immortal.

Who among us has never dreamed of being young and never getting old? At first, everyone wants to grow up faster, and then they try to preserve their youth and delay old age in every possible way. What if it is possible and old age will never come?
It is such an incredible story that happened to the main character of the film "The Age of Adalin" - Adalin Bowman. The only difference is that she never aspired to stay forever young, she lived an ordinary life, was married and raised a young daughter, until one night there was a terrible accident that became fatal in her life. Apparently, stars formed this way or a comet flew by, but Adalin survived, and at the same time stopped aging. What is it? A gift of fate? Rather ridicule, an evil joke, fate, because who needs such a life, in eternal persecution, fears, moving and the most terrible thing is the endless series of deaths and funerals of those you love.
All this struck Adalin, 29 years old, and as soon as people noticed that she was not aging, she had to move, change passports, surnames, hide, so as not to become a guinea pig and not to be imprisoned in the laboratory, to part with her daughter and the most important rule is not to fall in love with anyone. During the whole century that Adalin lived, she managed all this, except for the last one, she fell in love with a young man and realized that she could not and did not want to run away.
Tell me something I can never forget.
- Let go (c)
Like many, the first thing I noticed was the similarity with the films The Incredible Story of Benjamin Button, The Time Traveler's Wife, and The Bicentennial Man. All these stories are amazing, you involuntarily begin to draw parallels, it seems that it is simply impossible, indeed, a complete phantasmagoria, but how tasty and believable everything is served, that you involuntarily begin to think - what if? After all, there are so many unusual people in the world with no less unusual fates.
Each scene in the film is imbued with melodramatism, some charm, sophistication. This is especially true at the beginning of the film, which takes place in 1908. Stunning outfits, red lipstick, hats and neat hairstyles - all the gloss of that time, as well as incendiary music and long cigars made up a beautiful entourage and immersed in the atmosphere of the early 20th century. Excellent work of stylists and makeup artists.
It fit perfectly into this picture and Blake Lively, or rather it was the main component. Incredibly feminine, attractive, sophisticated and refined Adalin in her performance literally fell in love with herself from the first minutes. It’s an amazing performance by Blake, who personally revealed it in a new way. Although I knew her before, this is the series “Gossip Girl”, the film “Green Lantern”, but the role of Adalin is definitely her, and now, as it usually happens after the film, I can’t imagine another actress in her place, in my opinion, everything is perfect.
It is impossible not to mention other actors, this is Michael Haushman in the role of Ellis Jones, the very man who was able to reach the heart of the beauty and prove that one should not be afraid of love, no matter how fleeting it was. For it is better to have a few years of true and all-consuming love than a whole century of solitude.
Harrison Ford and his hero - William Jones, so felt his role, so vividly conveyed the emotions of the hero, that in some moments tears came to his eyes.
Ellen Burstyn (Flemming) is the daughter of Adalin, familiar to many from the film Requiem for a Dream, yes, the same slimming grandmother. Personally, I like both as a woman and as an actress.
The film, in fact, turned out to be atmospheric, from the beginning, when there is a narrative from the author, which already gives some fabulousness and mystery to the story, then the theory that was presented and explained thereby how it happened and ending with the credits with explanations.
"Age of Adalin" is a journey through the life of one person, but how many experiences and emotions you will experience when watching this fascinating tape. Two hours passed like one, with the heroes just do not want to part. Lee Toland Krieger managed to surprise the viewer, come up with an interesting non-trivial story and thereby stand out among a series of identical tapes with a worn-out plot.
To begin with, this film will seem boring, boring, feminine and devoid of any meaning to the male half of humanity. That's why I'm talking to you, ladies. After all, this picture was created just for you, so much romance and sophistication in it.
At the very beginning, an opportunity is given to slightly philosophize, and then the story of the life of a young girl who has stopped aging is told.
As soon as I found out about it, I immediately thought it would start. She will throw herself into all seriousness, learn everything in the world, become famous, in general will enjoy life. That is how the heroes of films about immortals appear on the screens. But what you see here is a woman working in a library who is raised, humble, but also incredibly mysterious. She amazes everyone she meets and lives her endless years with dignity.
Blake Lovely, an actress who gives the impression of a licentious girl from the series Gossip Girl, completely captivated me. She managed to play a real woman, looking at her selflessness, the ability to think about others, forgetting about your own happiness.
The storyline develops gradually, giving the viewer a sense of reality. No leaps from friendship to love, hatred, and love again. Everything is as it could happen to anyone in life. Very gentle and sincere love line, will not leave indifferent any dreamer.
Throughout the viewing, I experienced very familiar sensations, this film reminded me of the picture “The mysterious story of Benjamin Button”, there is still something magical in it. The music. Light, almost transparent, but inspiring.
The life of Addalyn Bowman did not seem boring to me. She lived a very real life, dreaming of only one thing - to love and be loved. We are used to admiring superhumans, dreaming of eternal life, youth, power over time, without thinking that sooner or later, but rather sooner, all this will bored us. People cannot appreciate the destructive power of loneliness. And we will only desire one thing that is beyond our control. Truth be told, I was wondering how it would all end, and I was expecting something different, but I was pleasantly surprised by the concise conclusion.
"Age of Adalin" - will make you look at many things from the other side, and those who love to think will give real pleasure.

After watching the trailer for the film and review, it seemed that it was very interesting and unusual. Attracted by his idea, I really have not seen this. The beginning of the movie was really interesting: good stories from the life of the main character, the beautiful work of costumers, excellent shooting and editing - slow-motion footage during Adalin's stay in the lake is simply fascinating. But that wasn't the case.
A question arises. How could you ruin a movie like that? While watching, you expect something unexpected to happen. But no. Nothing happens except the incomprehensible romance of the main character with a wealthy bearded smart and handsome. Adalin now and then his dynamite, now approaches, then sharply repels, without explaining absolutely nothing. Besides, of course, she can't explain why they shouldn't be together. Meanwhile, Ellis is so in love that he will do anything for her, despite the rather strange behavior of this lady. He said, “He’s in his heart.” The love story of a hundred-year-old, but still a young lady and a handsome smart man looks unrealistic. What will happen in the end, you already know, at the first meeting of the main characters. That's the story. There is also a history of the relationship between Ellis’ father and Adalin, in order to dilute this “sickness”. It could have been predicted, though. Just turned my grandfather's head! I just knew I was telling her how amazing she was when she was alive.
It’s a shame that the filmmakers didn’t get the idea right. Only a few moments from Adalin's past are shown. And they're pretty short. The whole story revolves around her strange new relationship. Instead of focusing on events from her long hundred-year life, the emphasis is on “smearing pink snot on the screen.” If the movie is designed for an audience of sixteen-year-old romantic girls, it is not bad enough. Nothing more. This movie is serious, after half the viewing does not seem at all, and some moments are just annoying or cause hysterical laughter. How could such an idea be ruined? That's the worst part.
A little bit about acting. Not catchy. Blake Lively is a beautiful and charming girl, but in my opinion, this role did not succeed. The whole movie with the same expression. I don't want to believe her tears. If at the beginning of the film you sympathize with the main character - restrained, smart, then at the end she begins to irritate madly. Although, this is probably not her fault, but the fault of the writers, who have not been able to reveal her character. The character of Michael Haushman seems to be well-read, and kind, and attractive, but something he lacks. Maybe if he wasn't so fixated on Adalin, it would look more interesting.
One more question that haunts me. Why can people sleep on a second date or even a first date? Is that considered normal? I don’t want to believe that people are ready to jump into bed without knowing each other. Is that how it is in real life? So much so that Adalin and Ellis' relationship developed gradually, but no, a second date and they already slept together. Although Adalin seemed smart enough, she melted under the skill of this handsome pickup truck. I couldn't resist it.
Adalin is an ordinary girl whose life in one of the most ordinary days turned into a good fairy tale (or a nightmare?). By chance, clearly not without magic, the main character ceases to age.
Probably, each of us has ever dreamed of immortality, or this thought at least briefly creeps into our consciousness. But not everyone thought about what eternal youth entails. Yes, at first it is fun and interesting: you can develop your abilities, travel and enjoy reflection in the mirror. But! What about people who are not lucky enough to “drink the elixir of youth”?
This film is about a strong woman who is forced to constantly change her place of residence, documents, friends. It seems that there was everything in her life except what can make a woman truly happy - a quiet family life. All you have to do is stop and stop looking around. . .
“Years, lovers, and glasses of wine are things you don’t have to count.”
I fell in love with this movie. It may seem sweet, banal and sentimental to many, but it is alive. But there is nothing superfluous in it, and each frame leads to the next, and all of them together add up to a simple, simple beautiful story that, for example, made me think (and this is a difficult task, so-and-so). What is really valuable in life. The magic of life is the magic of life. Many would give anything to be forever young. It's really fun, I think. You can develop yourself, learn languages, learn new things, travel, because time is full! But what about family, with friends and with all these others who kind of love?
The story of the heroine is written in such subtle strokes that you float through the film like on a river, without affecting the efforts to compare facts and turn events - everything builds itself: here - her attitude to modern "jazz", here - the same dress that was on her fifty years ago, here - the faithful dog.
There are opinions that the heroine is too modern and can not believe that she lived such a long life. You can't see the fatigue of life in her eyes and her behavior, but she's a woman, for God's sake! As long as she is beautiful and as long as she feels beautiful, she will not cease to feel young!
And from a scientific point of view, of course, what's interesting is that her brain has stayed on top of learning and remembering new information over the years. But I forget that it's just a movie. It's a beautiful invention.
I think this movie is going to be a classic of love films across space and time, along with Kate and Leo and Boyfriend from the Future, for example. Moreover, I would venture to assume that he will easily overcome the boundaries of time and not grow old, because how can love grow old? Only if she wasn't love at all.
After reading the positive and positive reviews for this fantastic film, I stocked up on handkerchiefs and started watching this melodrama.
From the very beginning of the film, the viewer’s eye is pleased with a beautiful picture, carefully calibrated tones and colors, as well as the measured voice of the announcer behind the scenes, immersing in the sci-fi details of this story, forcing maiden hearts to clog in the spectator’s ecstasy in anticipation of mind-blowing romance.
This, most likely, all the pluses of the picture for me ended, except for the appearance in the film of the good old Harrison Ford.
From such a wonderful theme you could make a stunning drama, no less chic comedy or a beautiful science fiction film. But it wasn’t that: instead, the director and screenwriter decided to go down the path of strange romance.
Why weird? Let me explain. I’m sure there will be no spoilers.
First of all, I had a suspicion about the absurdity of the script even when Adalin, as it turned out, was dating her current lover’s folder. Well, anything can be in a fantastic movie, so I kept watching. But when Ford's Adalin-fan hero recognizes her as his former escaped love, (the level of obsession with her shows at least what he named a comet after her), he declares that she should be happy, so she has to stay alive and love his son. After that, my jaw just fell on the carpet. What does that mean?
But the script of the film did not cease to please me. The greatest insanity happened at the end of the film: when the heroine confesses her lover in her originality, and introduces him to her elderly daughter and dog, the man of her novel just smiles, as if nothing had happened and happily plunges into the whirlpool of Adalin’s life.
No, well, imagine if your boyfriend or girlfriend comes under the handle and declares that he (she) is immortal and this daughter of his! What is the reaction of a normal person? It's an elementary shock! But, apparently, Alice was an unusual person, so he reacted to this news without changing his facial expression.
To sum up, it is a pity that the film did not come out of a worthy melodrama or fiction. Failures in the plot and inconsistencies in people's reactions spoil the impression of the whole film.
Only 5 out of 10 for good shots and good actors.
Sometimes interesting ideas get the most unsuccessful implementation. A vivid example of this is the film “The Age of Adalin”.
The theme of eternal youth and immortality has always interested humanity and was embodied in literature, painting, cinematography – from the character of Agasfer from the biblical legend and the Oscars. Dorian Gray to the immortal vampires Lestat from Interview with the Vampire and the vanilla-sweet Edward Cullen from Twilight (sorry, God!). And now a rather fertile theme has taken on a young director and screenwriter Lee Toland Krieger (honestly, I don't know who it is).
Often “Age of Adalin” caught my eye, but something all the time repulsed from viewing (and for good reason). Perhaps not very well-known for me, the lead actor. But still I decided to give this picture a chance, because the ratings and enthusiastic reviews of the audience are often the guarantor of worthy films.
The recipe for the “elixir of eternal youth” is simple. Don't repeat it! The trick is made by professionals!) - you need to expose your body to hypothermia until the heart stops completely, then catch a lightning discharge. It's very simple, on a budget, no stem cells. The main thing is to explain this wonderful phenomenon with ribonucleic acid in a calm and pleasant male voice. If the whole movie was just retelling that voice, I would give it the highest mark, really!
Thus, our heroine Adalin – a young widow with a child in her arms – became the owner of the gift of eternal youth.
So how did she live her life? What did you see, what did you learn, what did you experience, what wisdom did you gain? After all, Adalin fell to become a contemporary of significant events of the 20th century: the Great Depression, World War II, the flight of a man to Space, the landing on the moon, the assassination of Kennedy... You can't list everything! What did they show us? The history of fashion of the twentieth century, or rather several decades, and a couple of family and love stories - how she lost her husband and did not accept the offer of a hand and heart somewhere in the 70s.
The tagline of the film reads, “The world has changed over the last century.” Adalin, no. Apparently, here we are talking about the inner qualities of the heroine - judging by her behavior and the lack of a stamp of thought on her face, she did not acquire any life experience and everyday wisdom, stopping in her development. Except that I learned several foreign languages and began to study Braille. It's not thick, is it?
Finally, on New Year’s Eve, she meets him – everything is as it should, with a beard, rich, young, with a female name Alice. For three minutes, they look at each other - at this moment, the hearts of the viewers should beat faster. A couple of dates, dinner by candlelight, the death of a dog, a joint trip out of town – everything is so dramatic and “dynamic” that you never look at the clock. "Sugar coma" is sometimes diluted with throwing and tantrums of Adalin.
Somewhere in the middle of all this ever cloudy picture, a “ray of light” appears. Harrison Ford is the father of the bearded Alice (what did he forget here at all?).
As a result of another seizure, Adalin gets into an accident, she receives a deadly hypothermia within 10 minutes at a temperature of -1 degrees, ambulance staff pass a charge through her - and here she is again a normal person. In the hospital, she reveals her secret Alice, and he happily and with a calm mine on his face takes the whole story of a girl who survived a clinical death and a blow to the head, for the truth.
The result: a beautiful picture, beautiful outfits, superficial play of the main characters, an undisclosed plot and unreasonably long timekeeping.

How to live a century, so that then it was not painfully painful for purposelessly lived years
I was really looking forward to this movie. The trailer was so intrigued, so promising, and I had high hopes for this picture. Too much, it turns out. That was a big disappointment. In fact, all the most interesting and fit in a short trailer.
The story is set for 100 years as a young Adalyn Bowman. She has lived through the 20th century, witnessed all of its key events, and the trailer shows us promising footage of her life in these different periods. In fact, the action is completely concentrated in the present. The life of Adalin in these eras is almost not shown, only as brief inserts in the introduction and flashbacks. It would be great to see the 20th century in all its glory.
Then her life runs smoothly in almost complete loneliness. He is the man of her life, Ellis. Undoubtedly young-beautiful-with a beard, very conveniently rich, at the same time a kind and caring philanthropist and philanthropist, a quiet lover of books, and not noisy parties and girls, and even tomorrow ready to marry. What an ideal! There are no such improbable princes without a single drawback even in Disney cartoons. And with this ideal person, she gets closer, not knowing why, and runs from him after 5 minutes, not knowing why. He asks for advice from his elderly daughter. This is completely absurd.
100 years is a lot for a person’s life. For such a period, so much you could manage, so much to learn, at least some benefit to bring in the end, at least a little to understand yourself, provided, of course, if you do not waste time. But it seems that the main character spent her whole century aimlessly, since her attitude to life and people she did not go far from a 16-year-old girl who likes a boy from a parallel class. In 100 years, she has learned no lessons from her actions, no wisdom, no useful experience. I’m sorry, but such a “deep” mental throwing of a person who has lived a century, saw the key events of the era, wars and crises, look inappropriate. How could you not learn anything in 100 years?
Well, her mysterious transformation into immortal, and then (how time!) again into mortal - a fairy tale and only.
What pleased the eye was the work of artists and costumers who worked gloriously on the image of Blake Lively. I also liked the picture in general, the scenery, the shooting places, especially the cabin in the wilderness. Well, the character of Harrison Ford seemed quite pleasant, although otherwise the acting is average.
In general, I would be sorry for the whole century wasted, how sorry for the time spent watching this film.

for the visual artistic component of this masterpiece
In fact, we're all lonely. Loneliness impudently bursts into life and no matter how much we run, we can only accept his presence.
According to the story Adaline (Blake Lively), as a result of a car accident loses the ability to age and she has to change her name and place of residence every ten years to protect herself, which leads to almost complete loneliness.
The script did not do without blunders and minor inconsistencies, and does not leave the feeling that I have already seen it somewhere, but this picture does not allow you to think about it. The film is incredibly beautiful and romantic.
The discovery was the game Blake Lively, I can not remember any memorable role, but in this film she fit perfectly. It is beautiful, elegant and very beautiful, which can be said about the film and present the picture without it is now impossible.
All romantic natures are highly recommended.
To all who love stylish, beautiful films with unobtrusive (not snotty, but real, catchy) love stories
The Age of Adalin is a beautiful film, in which the elegance and style of old films (which are only the outfits and images of the main character) and the drive of modern ones are surprisingly combined.
The plot is not new in principle, but it somehow fades into the background. The point here is not that the girl lives for about 100 years, not in the amazing in science & #39, but in the heroine herself, in her experiences, in the projection of her existence on the life of any woman. You can live 100 years, but not live at all, and all the time run somewhere and from someone.
Separately - about the actress who played the main role. It's the only thing worth watching, I think. I am not a man, but I could not help but admire this woman. There is something about her from the past, as if she came from photos of the 50-60s. Such a classic appearance, and a truly elegant and stylish game with notes of charm and cunning. There is no better candidate for this role. Another plus is that her face didn't stick. Honestly, it was the first time I ever saw her in a movie. Natalie Portman, who refused to star here, I don’t think she would. It's good, but it would be a bit rustic in this movie - my opinion.

It’s been a long time since movies have so wonderfully failed to fit in my head and left such a pleasant mark.
Deep, bright, atmospheric film! For me, the auditory revelation was how the voice of the translator fit into the overall image of the film. This is one of the few films where sound and picture perfectly converge, like gears in an invisible antique clock.
It’s a magical movie about how you can’t fool fate. Fate, like Adeline, is not subject to time. In fact, love can not be held, because it is not just chemistry, but rather an instinctive, but quite predictable choice based on habits, character and, importantly, education.
This is a fairy tale told in a well-formed voice, surrounded by magical sounds and paintings made from old, slightly dusty photos, which depict beautiful ladies in beautiful dresses.
I don't know why, but Blake Lively reminds me of Jennifer Aniston, which only adds to her charm. Well, a separate highlight in the film was Harrison Ford, who, although not young, but still piercing.
I recommend this film to fans rummaging through old photo albums in search of unknown treasures, which became this wonderful film.
Who hasn’t dreamed of learning everything, knowing more than others, being able to do a lot, being in a special status, like being the strongest, the most agile, the smartest? The main character got such a chance, but to be the oldest, but at the same time to be young - an amazing property.
A sudden lightning strike radically changes the life of a simple girl. From an ordinary pretty lady, she also becomes the one who stops aging. This is what the film is about.
People get older and go away, Adalin stays and doesn't change. She's my location, she's having a hard time. She can't live like everyone else. She's not like the others.
The film resembles such stories as “Portrait of Dorian Gray”, only without boiling passions and the film “The Mysterious Story of Benjamin Button”, only without the special style of Fincher, which must be admittedly catchy.
It's hard for a hero when it's the opposite. It’s hard to deal with circumstances and fate. It's hard when you're not like everyone else. Time crystallizes the personality, the old man, if you learn, then acquires wisdom, becomes a brilliant psychologist, orients himself in life and knows how to do the right thing. The main character has a lot of that. But to stop being a recluse and a fugitive is difficult. Learning to live for herself is what she needs. You will have to go through trials and difficulties to come to the solution of all problems. And it's just nice to see it.
I noticed that the lightning strike in most films is a catalyst for the metamorphosis of the main characters. Bang! And you're not what you used to be. A special hero, which is interesting to talk about and which is interesting to portray.
There is such a simple fabulous movie that goes with a certain mood. The Age of Adalin is such a sweet and kind story. The case when the movie is worth watching with his other half, hugging.
A love story with an unusual plot, not very original, but exceptional. An unusual heroine in unusual circumstances - just romance.
The main character, played by Blake Lively, is certainly pretty. Not too attractive (sexy), probably, so as not to irritate the female audience of viewers and moderately cute, so that she would be sympathized and accepted.
Harrison Ford never ceases to delight in his neutral roles. It seems nothing complicated, but here to the place, as in the movie “Good morning”, for example.
If you like romantic films with an interesting, non-trivial plot, such as “Ruby Sparks” or “Boyfriend from the Future”, then the movie is for you!
Such an easy and romantic movie is sometimes necessary for young people. Take your other half with you and watch this movie!
I just happened to see this movie. Just put it under the arm while doing routine work with hands. Not a fan of this kind of movie. It’s not that “the boys won’t understand,” it’s just that a really worthwhile movie in this format is rarely seen. This film has a problem in the plot, but the genre in this is not to blame. I'll start small.
I will describe in one short paragraph such components of the film as visual and sound accompaniment. Overall, it's not bad. The movie looks pretty easy. I can't say anything remarkable, nor can I say anything terrible. Different eras of the twentieth century, shown in the film, look quite authentic. I suspect this is about a short demonstration. Basically, everything is based on costumes, there are no more mistakes to make. I admit, during the viewing, my eyes were distracted, because I could miss something, but I did not notice outright blunders.
The cast is not bad. As in the previous paragraph: not striking, but looking. I’ll just mention Blake Lively’s game: I don’t think so. Throughout the film, I noticed a smile on her face. A grin that hides any emotion other than complacency. You can blame on the forced mystery, but the writing below refutes this theory, and therefore I consider it a disadvantage of acting.
Now, what I’m writing about this movie for is the plot. That's where it's bad. The filmmakers themselves dug a grave, choosing the main theme. Immortality and eternal youth! Here the viewer will be interested to see something other than the torment of the heroine from the series give / not give. For example, to know the meaning of life or similar nonsense, which drives many. Alas! Here we will be shown how useless it is to live a hundred years. Imagine for a moment that you have eternity in reserve, and you will always be full of energy. What would you do? Would you have done nothing in a hundred years, absolutely nothing worthwhile? They wouldn't even try. Adalin is exactly that kind of man. For starters, the scene with an FBI agent will show how Adaline became disillusioned with people. Just think what bloodthirsty bastards: it was necessary to find eternal youth and they already want to study you. Adalin is alien to some kind of altruism or self-sacrifice. It is not going to help humanity conquer death: neither forcibly nor voluntarily (hundreds of options, besides cooperation with the feds). Our heroine is selfish, and therefore she decides to go underground and live for herself. Living for yourself and whining how hard it is to live for yourself. What does she do? She's not going to do self-education and self-development and anything else useful, oh no. She will, by and large, idle: sometimes hang out somewhere and polish the skill of a bitch, which consists in the most beautiful rejection of males (but even here other individuals would surpass this Miss Immortality by the age of 25). And, apparently, Adalin is also incredibly stupid. The fact is that people come with experience, and with it comes wisdom. It usually has nothing to do with appearance. Adalin has no hint of wisdom. I know girls 19 years old will be wiser than this Koschei Immortal female. The number of interesting thoughts from the heroine’s mouth is zero. As a result, towards the end, Adalin will still change the role of bitches, and try to build another relationship. However, it is necessary to loom some problem on the horizon and our wise Confucius in a skirt again makes legs, against all the advice of mortals. Then, at some point, she suddenly decides to change her hundred-year-old image and sort things out. This will decide suddenly, without any reason. It took a hundred years for a person to try to deal with problems, not run away from them. Well, better late than never. Here’s more: for his huge driving experience ( 80 years, you should understand ), Adalin never learned to look in the mirror before making the maneuver. And the subsequent scene is completely idiotic: the second, not shown to us, the participant of the accident makes legs, instead of helping. Given that he was not threatened before, and now he risks getting jail time for such a thing. The scriptwriters probably expected that the viewer would be so fascinated by the plot, and so will be worried about Adalin, which will not pay attention to outright idiocy.
Result: Disgusting. You can just watch the movie, it’s quite average. The main problem with the story is that he is stupid. The authors are too serious for melodrama. This is even worse than in war movies, which are also more interested in historical events than the torment of another female. Even if you don’t have problems with the development of the main character for more than 100 years. We were not shown any interesting events of the twentieth century, where Adalin could take part, which would look, at least, very interesting. Most importantly, we were not shown any worthwhile conclusion. All I learned was to try to cope with life’s challenges, not run away from them. Only I had enough to understand the fifth part of Adalin's life. Nothing else, nothing at all, interesting or thought-provoking was shown to us. Other porn films make more sense. This is another stupid and very vanilla film, designed not for a thoughtful viewer, but for a young girl of an average mind (and even worse). I do not even mention the amazing coincidences in the course of the plot, clearly far-fetched. Events around Adalin dry, which can not explain the behavior of the heroine and her formation. In short, it’s just an empty movie, despite the theme, with an incredible amount of maneuvering for an interesting plot.
I`m not your babe, Alejandro, Fernando and Roberto
Adalin - a widow not of the first freshness by the standards of the first half of the twentieth century and a maiden in the juice itself by today's standards - gets into a car accident. The car falls into the cold water, and then lightning strikes it, as if by magic, and we all know that in modern cinema lightning is done with the main characters (Nathan from “Dumpsters” sends greetings to everyone). Instead of roasting well and charred so that it would have to be buried in a closed coffin, Adalin receives from the universe the gift of eternal youth. Immortality combined with unfading beauty - because you deserve it! A pleasant male baritone behind the scenes slowly broadcasts that all this happened because of the fact that Adalin some ribonucleotides for deoxyribonucleotides came, and the law, according to the rules of which this happened, will be formulated much later. Men at this point will spit and turn off, but for us, women, scientific justification to nothing, we will continue to watch, especially in the trailer promised pretty guys, and most importantly – the only one for which Adalin will start to grow old again.
The feature film “Age of Adalin” has a number of significant shortcomings. Let's try to highlight three of them. The first, and perhaps most important, is that the movie can’t balance itself. It would be a picture marzipan sweet story, scraped according to the canons of the genre, and come out a little early, exactly by the 14th of February, but the creators decided to swing at the drama, and here is a completely different knee. And they tried to squeeze tears out of women not only in the touching moments of parting and reunions, the usual climax moments of melodramas, but also slowly dying relatives woven. Well, daughter Adalin is already a decrepit old woman, preparing to leave for a nursing home, because the main character also has another dog dying from old age. And that doesn't get in the way anymore. Guess which of the above two sad events is emphasized, and over which Adaline sheds tears: over the sedation of a doggie or over what will soon see the death of his daughter?
The second disadvantage is the lack of any dynamics. You can argue that this is a love story, but where did you see the rapidly developing melodramas? But here it is rather in deceived expectations, because, despite the word “century” appearing in the title, such bright and dissimilar decades that the main character managed to catch will be shown in brief flashbacks, fleeting, leaving no aftertaste. And remember from these memories only the clothes and makeup of Adalin. If you take scissors and thoroughly work with them, the material from the “Age of Adalin” will remain just for the two-minute video “100 Wears of Beauty”. They are very popular on YouTube right now.
Well, the third drawback is that, no matter how twisted, from the history of Adalin morality is not very beautiful, which is not immediately noticeable behind the glare striking in the eyes. Experience, the son of difficult mistakes, and the wisdom that goes hand in hand with it, come only as a result of biological aging. Otherwise, how to explain the fact that the daughter Adalin instructs a careless and unreasonable mother and, although she is inclined to express herself in banal phrases, most likely drawn from the book “100 tips for all occasions”, still looks smarter against her background, if not smarter?
After watching the subdrama "Age of Adalin" recalls an anecdote about the life of a castrated cat: "You can live, but somehow sad." Sadly it becomes from this picture, however, not because the leisurely narrative about the difficult fate of Adalin managed to awaken feelings in the hardened heart of a cruel consumer, but because, on the contrary, it turned out to be completely sterile, unable to sow the seeds of compassion. Instead of making the most of her immortality, Adalin did nothing that deserved attention. She did not write books, did not participate in significant historical events, did not seek the answer to the main question of life, the universe and all that, but just dressed up and walked with men.
From day to day, from year to year, the world around us slowly begins to change. This is especially noticeable when you stay the same. Wonderful Adalin had to bear a heavy burden through the years and not change with this world, accumulating experience and seeing off relatives and friends, fleeing from love - preserving fate, crushing his own. But whether the power of love, or the exhausted patience of Adalin makes her understand that it is time to stop, it is time to surrender without a trace and feel life, love like never before, and fate turns out to be favorable to her. . .
A wonderful film, giving birth to emotions, in the collection.
She ran for a long time. And it was harder every time.
And one day she stopped. In order to really start living.
Now everyone wants to be forever beautiful and young, but my heroine has all this and she is unhappy. Nothing is more tragic than eternal youth. Besides, when you become a mother, you realize that we don’t just leave this world. We are making room for our children.
Blake on his role in the film “The Age of Adalin”
Time did not spare Adalin, it took the best of her life.
How difficult is it for a mother to live without her daughter, not to see how she turns from a girl into an adult woman, not to experience her downs and ups with her?
How hard is it to see someone you love propose to you and realize that you will never be with them? Not because you don't want to. Because you can't. The habit of running away is so entrenched inside the main character that it seems to her that this is the only way out for survival. It's survival, not life. She was afraid to imagine that if she stopped, what then? How to live, seeing that your loved ones are getting old and dying, trends are changing, and she is still Adalin, but all alone?
So what's the point of eternal life? Why chase after infinity if there is no place for family, love? A purposeless existence that will kill from within.
Yes, the life of Adalyn Bowman was incredible and bright, which can be compared to a star in the night sky. She has lived many historical events, visited many cities, saw quite amazing things in life, but after all, returning home, you realize that happiness is not in things, but in people who are waiting for you in the house.
Who hasn’t dreamed of living forever and forever? Rhetorical question, the answer to which still demonstrates the film "The Age of Adalin". The film seemed to me not perfect, but quite interesting for its genre.
According to the story, the main character Adaline gets into an accident, receives a pretty discharge by electric shock and receives immortality as a gift as a reward for such suffering. She is forced to watch her own daughter age, change her appearance, place of residence and name every 10 years, abandon her lovers and friends. In the end, Adalin comes illumination, and she decides to take a responsible step in her fate.
Overall, I liked this story. Incredibly beautiful images of the main character: hairstyles, makeup, costumes - all this I wanted to see better, "to feel" and "to touch." Blake Lively a real beauty - tall, sophisticated, feminine. Styles of different eras to her face. Such a girl could well live a century and win the hearts of different men of any time. For me, she’s still Serena from Gossip Girl, but maybe her great, remarkable role is yet to come. However, in this film, Lively definitely became a highlight. So colorful, atmospheric film became one of the main reasons for my success. The plot is based on an unreal fantastic story, so it is much more interesting and fascinating to watch the development of events when these events are presented in a beautiful bright “package”.
What did you like? This is a great way to celebrate. Throughout the film, the viewer is reminded that a strong family is the basis for everything. A strong shoulder of a spouse is a necessary component of life, without which everything loses meaning, including eternal youth.
In the end, “The Age of Adalin” is a light, unobtrusive fairy tale that is pleasant to watch before going to bed. By the middle of the film, you realize that eternal life is not a gift, but a punishment. People don’t want to grow old, but watching their loved ones and friends age while staying young is even harder. It's punishment. It is good that progress has not yet reached the stage where time can be frozen. This is a movie for romantic, slightly naive people who crave love and a beautiful life.

Blake Lively, Blake Lively... Blake Lively. Some 5-6 years ago, the Internet was choking with this name. “Gossip Girl” was such a discussed series, it was difficult to dodge conversations about her on the expanses of the world wide web, except that the series is not to watch and not to imagine what, in fact, it is in the title of another article about him. It was. I have never seen an actress in any movie. I didn’t want to see it, but somehow it happened. The movie "Adaline Age" was viewed quite by chance.
What about the movie? Good, cut smoothly, without sharp places and sudden cliffs. Cozy, calm, beautiful landscapes, harmonious characters, attributes and entourage. And history. Which seems unusual, unrealistic, but seems to have flowed into the notes during that outgoing century. I liked the main character, who did not fight in tantrums, driven by mental suffering was not tormented by questions to which there were no answers, and continued to live. Of course, this desire to live sometimes resembled a detective novel, but everything was based on reasons that the viewer understands.
Lively loved it too. I, as a satisfied viewer, of course, did not want to immediately fit her into the ranks of talented actresses, but she played in my opinion, more than well. Understanding and feeling the inner world of Adalin.
The plot of the film wins - the story of the main character and not weak dramatic moments. How interesting it was to watch Adalin and her growing daughter. For lovers of love lines here too prepared impressions. The theme of love in the film plays an important role, the main character runs from time, wanting to love. Can these two factors be reconciled in their situation? Having met a decent man, Adalin decides to stop his unbearable loneliness, rather than because the real love has come. However, one thing does not interfere with the other, but these moments seem to fade into the background, because the story of the film is conducted in a slightly different direction until the very end. And this end is just amazing when in the eyes of Adalin we see how her humility before the incorrigible is replaced by the triumph of life and a slight fear of the future, which she has never faced in her long life.
I titled this review because it was made for Blake. No other actress could have played her like Blake. I can’t say that there were a lot of complex scenes in the picture, but Blake was able to convey the feelings that the main character felt with her expressive facial expressions, beautiful appearance, in general, a wonderful game. She, the heroine, constantly ran away from her “stopped” life, if you can call it that, but how else? It was as if she was unshakably proud of her natural desires and destroyed them in every way. This is a manifestation of incredible power, which is not inherent in everyone. The power that destroys certain qualities in man. Stupid pride... In my opinion, this “eternal youth”, which the author of the idea of the picture uses, suggests that how short life is, it is real life. Not the life Adaline had, but the real life. Adalin, many years later, as the years passed, her daughter was aging, the world was improving, and the people around her were aging, and she, Adalin, stopped at the same age, and no longer experienced the physiological naturalness of man. It took her a very long time to realize that not a single incident in life should be missed. If you feel something, do it despite all fears and hostile indecision. A fantasy film is a philosophical view of the problem. It is the problem of modern society, when it seems that time will still be, but it mercilessly runs away from everyone. It flows away so suddenly that you are sitting in your old age in a warm chair, preparing for death, and remembering the past, how little you had time, and this disappointment can no longer be satisfied with anything.
Thank you, Blake! This film I felt completely, and tasted this meaning once and for all.
Don't miss your moments!
A very beautiful fairy tale about the value of love, affection, family ties in a person’s life. What is the age of life, even the brightest, in solitude?
The main character gets into a car accident, then lightning strikes the car, after which a strange metamorphosis occurs with the body of Adalin and she stops aging. Over the next years, the girl, fearing to be the object of scientific and medical research, is forced to change names and occupations, abandon friends and love, and watch her own daughter age.
Adalin has adapted to this lifestyle and, surprisingly for me, has come to terms with it. On the eve of her 100th birthday, she meets a man who changes everything. Adalin falls in love with him and decides to risk revealing his secret to be together.
The film in general is for girls, very beautiful (thanks to the costumers), romantic. Some may say that this is a “pink snot”, but sometimes such a movie is also sometimes necessary to watch, after it there is a feeling of lightness and happiness. In addition, when watching, first of all, you pay attention to a stunning picture, because of one of it, the film is worth watching.
I can’t say anything negative about acting. Blake Lively as an actress is not so, but in this role looks extremely organic.
In general, all girls, romantics at heart and lovers of beautiful cinema I recommend to watch “The Age of Adalin”.

Among the total dominance of multimillion-dollar blockbusters, you can also sometimes suffocate. At times like this, you start looking for an opportunity to switch. Whether it’s a low-budget horror, an unrecognized art house or a mainstream romantic film like Lee Toland Krieger’s The Age of Adalin.
Rumors about the “Adaline Age” went a few years ago, but to launch it, as I remember, no one was in a hurry. And as soon as I forget about it, a very beautiful and impressive commercial pops up here, and at the head of all this fantastic melodrama is the beautiful Blake Lively. The trailer promised us a beautiful love story with all its attributes. I think we can say that the creators have fulfilled their promise.
Honestly, had Age of Adalin been released thirty years earlier, I wouldn’t have been surprised if I had seen this film alongside classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This tape is a melodrama of a standard sample, but has some characteristic features that make it especially attractive. First, it's the idea itself. I’m sure every girl between the ages of 15 and 95 who has seen this movie has dreamed of staying young forever. Adalin is in a sense Peter Pan, only for big girls.
In its atmosphere, the film is very calm and measured, it can not boast of any rich eventfulness, but at the same time it looks interesting and without any strain. Events in the tape develop gradually, and soul throwing here at least ample. The plot at other moments from the heart limps on the part of logic, but then it already depends on you - to turn off the brain and enjoy the spectacle, or not worth it. The actions of the characters are largely predictable, as well as the finale, but here the creators went according to the canons of the genre, for which they are not necessary.
The film once again tries to convey to the audience the indisputable fact: beauty and youth are not everything. Eternal life will not make you happy, living without love and seeing those who were dear to you die is very difficult. The heroine at the same time is deeply unhappy, and this is expressed in the calmness and fortitude of the English lady, who smiles at everyone in public and cries softly in solitude.
The tape causes positive emotions not only for the interestingly submitted plot, but also for the technical component. I wouldn’t be lying if I said Age of Adalin was a beautiful movie. A huge number of different locations - from the landscapes of San Francisco to the lost valleys of England - presented by the creators as the most sympathetic background for the development of history. You can immediately see with what perseverance and meticulousness everything was chosen - from the color of the dresses of the main character to the location of the scenery. All this is fueled by successful editing and well-chosen music and presented to the viewer as a recreated dream, which became a reality at least on the screen of the cinema or your device.
I warn you right away, the level of vanilla in the film is skyrocketing, but if you are in the right mood, then this will not play an important role. There is something to look at, especially who. Like I said, Blake Lively rules this fantastic romantic ball. This girl became famous thanks to the main role in one of the most sensational series of zero, but her film career did not work – one after another failed “Green Lantern” and “Specially dangerous” with her participation. I was afraid I would never see her on screen again when she pops up in such an interesting project. You can safely call this film her real benefit. Blake here shows all his makings of a Hollywood diva - looks beautiful, holds well, smiles radiantly, besides, plays well, and in this role feels quite comfortable.
All the other characters are introduced into the film to revolve around the Glavheroine like planets around the Sun. Of these, several can be most clearly distinguished. Harrison Ford, who played the former lover of Adalin, sometimes heartily overplays, but in the end, still gives us a man who even after 40 years can not recover from the shocks of first love. Michael Haushman, who embodied the love interest of the main character, tries to seem funny and in love, which he does, although let’s be honest – he was required quite a bit. But Ellen Burstyn, who played the role of the aged daughter Adalin, was very pleased. The joint scenes of these women were both sad and funny, and vital at the same time. Sometimes you even sit and think, who is your mother and who is your daughter? In any case, the moment when the 80-year-old daughter congratulates her mother, who never left the age of 27, on her birthday, pleased all the spectators in the audience.
In short, the Age of Adalin is a sugar-sweet romantic film with a small amount of fantasy, a beautiful picture and pleasant actors. Perfect for any interested audience. We all need beautiful love stories, too.
