Young sexual pathologists have fun among corpses and occasionally kill someone. Not too cheerful denouement of the plot, a rather original approach in general and expected, but the finale that I would like. At one point I thought the film would be like a detective with a famous butler, but in fact it turned out to be both simpler and more interesting.
In the story, a young and talented doctor pathologist comes to finish his studies at a cool institute and gets into the company of schizophrenic fellow students who are ruled by a real psychopath. At first, the main character breaks down a little, but then the dark side absorbs him and sex, drags and corpses begin. Everything has consequences.
The film does not have such terrible shock scenes, but I do not recommend impressionable ones. A trained amateur.
The first thing to say when discussing the film is the internal structure of the film world. In Pathology, there is a life of a layman, in which people do not suspect anything, go about their own, sometimes dirty affairs. It serves as expendable material for another, hidden world – the world of a privileged club of pathologists, which plays with the bodies of victims in a sophisticated intellectual game.
The meetings of this club in Pathology are shown as satanic orgies: lust, desecration of bodies, succubus women (Juliet and Catherine) and vampirism. The latter is worth stopping separately, since it manifests itself not only in the direct use of blood, but also in the manipulation of victims and participants of the diabolical coven. Vampirism is also a metaphor for the toxic relationship between club members. These pathologists, the inhabitants of the hidden world, are distinguished by immoralism (being beyond the boundaries of good and evil) and a sublime philosophy of love for the dead, inaccessible to the layman. This world is terrifying and attractive. It can be said that here Pathology is the heir to romantic aesthetics with its dual world, immoralism, exceptional characters and interest in the nightmarish.
The plot of the film is built around the confrontation of two types of killers. One of them is an obsessive and expressive Dr. Gallo, who needs no motive to shed blood. The second calculating "Dr. Mengele" Gallo, for whom perniciousness is not an end in itself, but only a means to achieve other tasks (influence, self-affirmation and new facets of pleasure). In many ways, this confrontation, which makes the picture an entertaining spectacle, tries to answer two questions: Is it in the nature of man to kill? If so, does he need another motive to kill? And if the film answers the first question positively, the last scene leaves the viewer no doubt, then the second question is given a more detailed answer. Some people need motive and others don’t. It all depends on the type of person. How obsessed and calculating he is.
Separately, it is worth mentioning the ending, which lubricates the slender narrative of the film. It is not like the usual punctuation marks, like a dot or an ellipsis. The final is not closed or open. Rather, the ending is a cliff. It's like you're watching a movie and before you start an epilogue, you force some thugs out of the room. Such a cinematic decision can hardly be approved, given the fact that “Patology” is not an experimental film shot for the festival, but a commercial film.
“Pathology” can be recommended to many because of the entertainment and inheritance of the language of romanticism that we all understand. The plot here is interesting, the acting is pleasant, and for a thinking audience there is something to argue about and even agree.
The rating of the film on the KP is 6.8. Putting his hand on his heart, the assessment does not match the content. I'd lower it by a point and a half. The problem with Pathology is that there are no people here (and the script is clumsy). Only (forgive me for being rude) are ugly.
This whole thing looks pretty weird, but let's go in order. Young medical student Ted Gray moves to another city, undergoes an internship in the pathological department of the medical institute.
He meets a group of students who play a deadly game. One of them kills a person, the others try to solve the corpse (yes, how he killed him). Instead of sending these killers to all four sides (or even better to call the cops), the hero somehow joins them in the company.
Please explain. Why is Gray acting like this? The guy has a beautiful girlfriend. He's had quite a successful career. A well-bred boy decided to break away for some time? No problem, but turn into a murderer. There's only one excuse - Grey's an ordinary bastard! It does not appeal to the person who made a mistake.
If so, you don't care about his fate. His desire to get out of all this (what did you even think, agreeing to such games, Vasya Pryanik). Again, why did his new friends stop liking him? Because he realized that everyone's life is valuable?
Nothing like that, because he was stupidly scared for his perfect life (which he could lose). I hate this hero, guys. It's disgusting.
Who justifies “Pathology” – supposedly there is a kind of trolling of doctors (surgeons and especially pathologists), you separate flies from cutlets. Of course, doctors are not of this world. They cut, they cut open our carcasses, ah heh heh, it's normal (to show doctors cold-blooded). Doctors work (roughly speaking) with human meat, but turning them into some kind of scumbags and sick psychopaths – sorry, no. Movie nonsense!
Doctors kill people in packs, play in the hospital. Nobody notices anything. Well, one more (two or three), but there are six or seven of them, a whole brigade. Really? All maniacs and nuts? I don't believe it.
I liked the dynamics, the stylish picture and the more or less tolerant acting. That's all.
P.S.
Directed by Mark Scholermann before this film shot videos for the group “Scooter'!
“Pathology” is a 2007 thriller filmed about an interesting topic of lawlessness among doctors, as well as exploring human cruelty. For obvious reasons, the film may not go far for everyone, as it is quite violent. Now for more on the subject.
Dr. Gray, who graduated from Harvard with honors, goes to practice at the best clinic in the city to become a pathologist. Leaving his bride in another city, he leaves his moral qualities there. After all, in a new place, he meets a company that at first just puts him on alcohol and weed, and cheating on the bride does not make the situation better. But when the protagonist begins to take part in a bloody game where one of the doctors must kill a homeless person or a drug addict so that his colleagues puzzle over the causes of death, Gray’s life goes downhill.
The plot in the film is quite tense and interesting, presenting a couple of good plot twists. Not to say that they are very unexpected, but they produce the desired effect on the story. The script is also very good. The characters are spelled out well (about this later), there were no special follies during the viewing.
The characters are fine. The main character transforms quite well during the film. I especially want to mention the main villain of the picture. He's very good. A dangerous, evil psychopath, in the fight against which you really empathize with the main character. Personally, he reminded me of the famous psychopath Vaas Montenegro from the already cult Far Cry 3. In general, the main villain succeeded in glory. It is also difficult not to mention the female part of the composition. First, the actresses are very beautiful in appearance, which will definitely please the male half of the audience. Secondly, they play a rather important role in the development of heroes and plot.
In terms of violence, the film is relatively unpleasant. I wouldn’t say he shocked me, but some scenes made me look away. What is pleasing, the cruelty in this film is inserted only when necessary, despite the popularity of Saw at the time.
I can say that there was a great thriller for one evening. Great heroes (if you can call them that), charismatic and dangerous villains, good atmosphere, all sorts of R-rated uses (from sex to murder). If you want to watch a good movie for the evening, then “Pathology” is quite suitable.

The film made on the one hand a repulsive impression, and on the other - it contains, perhaps unintentionally, a very important message. Well, now it is not possible to format the text of the review, so we apologize for its gray appearance. (Gray background is another matter, I cannot give such a frank holiday of violence and lust a positive review.) But it is not negative, because it was still interesting to watch, and the message.
The synopsis, in my opinion, is softened in the description. And here's the thing: a brilliant young doctor specializing in pathoanatomy comes to the clinic for an internship, where friction immediately begins between him and the backbone of colleagues, because he is head above them. They are trying to drag him into their entertainments: murders with subsequent analysis, everything is as it should be.
If they did, see for yourself.
The plot is twisted well, although any experienced viewer of thrillers will predict every move of the picture at once. However, you don’t have to get bored waiting for each sister to get earrings or not. In my opinion, the most negative hero is the one who has fallen from a higher height than the others. (Some are born beasts, and some consciously become animals.) But for sure and this can be argued that another plus in the piggy bank of the film - it will make you think about different moral dilemmas, in particular, how to do the right thing to a person who is confused. At what price is it allowed to get out.
And the message that I see here is simple: without the concept of a higher morality, which is not subject to revision by man, the latter, as soon as he feels his impunity, turns into a beast. That's why the headline is. Cynicism is terrible.
If I could leave two bad reviews, I would. This film is sucked from the finger to the finger. To be honest, the idea of the film itself is interesting. But the problem with the author is that he just came up with an idea and then finished the film on his knee in front of the set. Well, it's kind of a story. For shocking, the author decided to endow all the heroes with great conceit and arrogant behavior. At the beginning of the film, this gives some hope for an interesting and highly intellectual development of the narrative, when the characters compete not only with contemptuous, arrogant views, but also with intelligent, interesting actions.
But no. Fantasies about the detective development of the plot, about sophisticated murders are broken about reality. There is none of this in the narrative: the most interesting moments are missed, the characters just compete in wit and attempts to prick the opponent. Verbally, of course. From the abundance of pathos begins to vomit after 10 minutes, there is no logic in the actions of the heroes. The main character is a good boy, a smart doctor, who is under the protectorate of powerful people, becomes bad, and enters an antisocial company. Wrap it up! A lot of conversations of heroes, instead of actions and patterns? Give me two! The playful dialogues that the director tries to show how the characters are fixated on sex? Why not? So, what did you forget? Make the movie interesting? Plot? No, no, let's just add more erotics! The main thing is to show naked female bodies - then it will definitely be interesting (no).
My verdict: uninteresting, illogical, very pathetic, not scary, fake dialogues and actions, sugary speeches, absurd, the end. Sorry for such a detailed spoiler. Don't look.

This movie started on TV and immediately caught my attention. After all, a horror movie/thriller from the 2000s, when films of these genres could still at least a little bit surprise or interest the viewer. And he was able to impress.
Plot. A young guy Ted Gray (Milo Ventimiglia) gets a job as an intern pathologist in a large hospital. He meets his colleagues who at first glance seem strange: too vulgar, hypocritical and cynical. Soon, Ted has no choice but to join the so-called “game” of his strange colleagues. Namely, to kill completely different people in ingenious ways, and then upon their arrival in the autopsy office, colleagues must determine how the victim was killed.
What you can say: the plot is very good. And in principle, the whole plot of this film is built more or less logical. If you do not take into account the fact that the "literate editing" left behind many events and moments that the writers most likely did not think up. Namely, how interns killed people so competently that neither the police, nor passers-by, nor the public have ever caught them in this case. Yes, even this huge hospital with no cameras, security guards and blindness of other employees. In short, a slight scratching of the back of the head from bewilderment is provided.
What really can be praised the creators of the film, is for the good atmosphere of the thriller. The mass of corpses, autopsies, cynicism and brutality of a group of interns-butchers, who lost the last drop of humanity and morality, created a truly frightening entourage of the picture.
Result
At first I was a little surprised when I saw the names Neveldine and Taylor in the credits. And then everything fell into place: this film clearly has something in common with “Adrenaline”. But unlike The Adrenaline, Pathology is a one-off movie. Although, compared to the “nightmare” that is filmed now, this is still quite tolerable and may even shock.

To say that the film makes a lasting impression I can not, but definitely deserves attention.
Although the plot is full of blood, sex and drugs, I was a little lacking in dynamics. The first half of the film flows smoothly and slowly, but then the events unfold quite rapidly.
The actors were pleased, except for the main character, played by Milo Ventimiglia. There were young faces involved, I had never seen them anywhere before. Played the characters well, got used to the role, they believe. Milo did nothing but build a mysterious face. And in general, his hero caused rejection, but most likely it was intended.
Healthy and realistic scenes of autopsy – of course, not a manual for pathologists, but no liters of blood, everything is very natural.
The dialogues of the heroes are solid water and philosophy on the topic: all people are animals, this is our essence.
It cries from the presence of typical stamps - eating in the sectional hall, black jokes during the autopsy, neglect of overalls, as an indicator of some coolness and toughness. The insanity and detachment of the group of players seemed hypertrophied, the characters could be more restrained. They didn't look like talented professionals, they looked like frostbitten jerks. I was constantly amazed at the blindness of the superiors, who did not see their obvious inadequacy.
The surprise ending is 50/50. Something I thought was surprising.
The film came out a little better and more original than the typical average, but very much does not reach the cult thrillers (Seven, Island of the Damned). It’s such a fun thing to do.
In my opinion, the characters of the picture are not just “mocking”, they play. Easily and casually, as it should be, they do not see anything immoral in their dirty and terrible game, where impunity only strengthens their unshakable faith in their power and power, which ultimately leads to a complete loss of control, and, consequently, they are more and more crazy.
The film tells about psychopathic maniac pathologists who love rude and vicious fun, including depraved sex and drug high, they follow their dark desires, along the way planting on them and our hero, but when these desires lead deep into the darkness and make you forget about who you are, threatening to destroy the usual life and the lives of your loved ones.. especially those who care about you, the game moves to a new level, where even those crazy rules learned earlier seem to be all easy fun, truly cruel and without anything.
The end corresponds to the general mood and atmosphere of the picture, and also carries some morality, albeit in a very crude form:
You have to pay for any pleasure. And for dark, double.
Apparently, some directors do not rest on the success of the first “Saw”. They sleep with their sweet directorial dream and see how liters of blood are poured on the screen, the heroes cold-bloodedly tear apart different cavities, and terrible medical things shine in their hands. And all this to the ominous music.
Some, however, woke up in a cold sweat, decide to bring their nightmares to life. The movie, actually. This is how movies like this come about. Or not. I don't know exactly.
But I know that some do manage to turn a bloody meat grinder into something meaningful and, most importantly, quite watchable. "Pathology" is very, very similar. And all because the plot in it more than blood and all the internal organs on the other side of the body. There are plenty of them. But it's not about them.
In general, the director managed a gloomy and depressing history of psychopaths, to argue as pretentiously as possible killing people, to submit very cheerfully, dynamically and even with humor. Especially cool is the scene somewhere in the middle, when the entire action is presented in the form of a clip to heavy music. Very catchy.
My verdict: worth a look. But only if you don't feel sick at the sight of blood, medical instruments and all sorts of doctors. And if you like such films as “Saw”, “Destination” and other “The Chainsaw Massacre in Texas”, then be sure to watch this one. You probably won't like it that much.
The duo of Michael Neveldine and Brian Taylor likes to make crazy movies and their joint project “Adrenaline” proved it – a film with a simple and understandable story, plus a maximum of fights, shootouts, obscene swearing and crazy tricks confirmation of that. Immediately after this project, the duo began to plan a new project, the same unconventional and crazy, resulting in the next joint project called “Pathology”, although our characters remained only writers.
Ted Gray is an excellent doctor who graduated with honors from Harvard and dreams of becoming a pathologist. After a mission to Africa, Ted is immediately sent to Philadelphia. After some days, the university’s “old men” see the hero’s potential and talk about a secret game. The rules are simple – someone from the circle kills a person, and the task of the others is to guess how the victim was killed. After guessing, the next person commits murder. Whoever makes the job more elegant wins. Ted enters the game, and even makes his dark steps, and the number of dead becomes more and more. Time passes and the hero wants to leave the game, stop, that’s when the real game begins.
For German director Mark Scholermann, this film became the most famous and one of the last projects (his last short work dates back to 2012). The film turned out to be very interesting, with the taste and style of the duo N/T and this style certainly goes to the film. Even though there’s nothing mysterious or a piece of detective in Pathology, the film still carries the danger of asking who’s next. For such a debut, Mark worked brilliantly and showed a real, cold-blooded thriller. The script of Neveldine and Taylor is once again surprising - it seems that such a simple topic (the work of pathologists) was turned into a real competition, and all the favorite qualities of this duo remained - a lot of blood, cruelty, madness and madness. Perfectly spelled out and the development of the plot, because there is where to go, and the finale ... It's just a bomb. The characters of the film also feel like they are alive and everyone certainly has their own, unlike the others, and that’s great. The script is high-quality, non-standard, but strong and interesting. A magnificent work shows the operator Eckhart Pollack and it is connected not only with professional shooting, but also with a cool color scheme - it is constantly dark, black and only in scenes with his wife darkness is replaced by angelic whiteness, as if showing two sides of Ted, two sides of his life. I also liked the music from Johannes Kobilke and Robb Williamson – each composition corresponds to a certain moment and sounds very bright and powerful.
And the actors deserve praise - Milo Ventimiglia perfectly blended into his character, but made one serious mistake - did not show emotion in the most important moment of the film. Otherwise, he is good and plays well. Damn good Michael Weston as Jake Galo - a real rival of Ted everywhere, wielding a scalpel like a brush, making real masterpieces. Weston managed to turn not only into a real psychopath, but also a bright villain. Brightly working and other colleagues – this is Lauren Lee Smith, Johnny Whitworth, May Melancon and Keir O’Donnell – they also managed to perfectly perform their roles and seed, though not as did Michael Weston, but nevertheless the actors here are cool and they play great.
Total:
“Pathology” is a great cold-blooded thriller, with high-quality script and directing, cinematography and excellent music, as well as a very bright and lively acting. The film was at a height and the degree of insanity may be slightly lower than in “Adrenaline”, but still the film keeps in suspense, you do not know what to expect from it, as well as the fact that you do not know who will be next in the morgue. Perhaps the detective from the film is zero, but here the thriller is 100 percent visible, it is felt in every scene, in every frame. If you like action thrillers, then this film is for you, if you love the madness of Neveldine and Taylor, then you will also win.
Thank you for your attention and pleasant viewing!
Let's start with the positive. It was a pleasure to watch Lauren Lee Smith as a passionate beast. This is a good thing.
Now it's negative. A film in which everything is bad - the idea is not disclosed, the plot does not keep in suspense, the dialogues make you think about the level of development of the writers. Apparently, the authors revelled in the main idea and did not bother to intrigue the audience with its disclosure. Indeed, the idea is good and plastic, you could make a lot of things – a high-quality detective, holding in suspense and shocking denouement, a hard horror, if not distracted by the highly spiritual part. I am not talking about digging deeper and making a masterpiece in the face of a psychological thriller, presenting death as art, and a scalpel as a brush in the hands of an artist. But the makings were indeed, and a certain message towards smart cinema was traced.
Trying not to fall asleep, I watched this ode about the animal beginning of man to the end. Unfortunately, the ending was ridiculously predictable.
Peter Petrelli -- oh, that's from another movie, sorry. Ted Gray is an aspiring pathologist who is undergoing an internship at one of the most prestigious clinics in the city. He got there, however, to his liking, but this does not play a special role, since the young man is really talented. And it so happened that the young hero fell into the company of the same young and talented people who turn their noses at Ted and despise him in every possible way. In general, typical snobs. But as soon as Ted put forward a fiery speech about the fact that everyone is corrupt, as sociopathic colleagues immediately respected the hero Milo Ventimiglia and invited the latter to join their friendly campaign and play one very exciting game - to kill a person so that the police could not determine the cause of death. And may John Kramer looks at the young boobs condemningly, but Ted Gray is inspired by this idea and decides to play God.
What about a movie with such an intriguing story? Only that the writers, and with them the director of the picture, put on the wrong horse and at the races came last. Reason? Simple and clear. Inspired by the example of “Saws”, the creators of this film tried to show the underside of the human soul and tell about the fact that not everything is so cloudless in the “kingdom of Denmark” and therefore decided to compare people with animals. You see, animals don’t kill each other for fun. They don't like that concept. They kill to survive or to protect themselves. But to kill for pleasure, to amuse your own ego, or simply because it whispered a voice in your head, this is what only one creature on the planet is capable of. And again, I have nothing against the fact that the heroes of the picture are not the most worthy members of society and they preach not love and forgiveness, but that life is pain and one should go and kill one’s neighbor because it is “just a game.” No, I do, of course, but my beliefs apply to real life, not the blue screen. Cinema is primarily an art and it should attract the eye and make the viewer believe that before him appear not just actors working for a dollar, and live people capable of causing a whole range of feelings and emotions. However, this does not happen in this film. The characters in this film behave in the following way: men are all sociopaths, and women are whores. But these are not characters. It's an algorithm of behavior. And as for the characters, they have neither a dream nor a belief in a better tomorrow, their convictions boil down to the fact that let’s go and cut someone and thanks to this “actor A” is no different from “actor B” and as a result, you simply do not want to empathize with them, just as you do not want to wish them a quick death, because they are empty.
The film also lacks the main thing, namely the idea. Do you remember the movie Able Apprentice, which was based on a novel by Stephen King and where a boy demanded that an elderly Nazi teach him everything? So there was this idea that the kid was entering the harsh world of adults, and he wanted to become not a victim, but a predator. There is nothing like this here, and those who survive will not learn any lesson. As were sociopaths who hated the world around them, they remained.
As for the actors, you know, they played quite well, within the genre, of course. Where should - shouted and showed expression, and where not - stood with lean faces, although there is a chance that this was not an attempt to play emotionless scoundrels, but an opportunity to breathe with relief, since the director left for a smoke? Although Milo Ventimiglia was particularly distinguished, who, intoxicated by the success of the series "Heroes", thought and thought and decided that it was necessary to play based on the fee, and given the fact that they paid the actor, most likely, a little, he plays through a stump-deck, demonstrating facial expressions from which Steven Seagal would burst into tears with Chuck Norris. About where the hero Ventimiglia girl I will not ask, still a clear answer I will not be able to bother not only the director, but even those people who wrote the script for this film. And as for the so-called drama, shown by the actor and from which my colleagues poured nightingales, this drama is due only to the musical accompaniment, and not to the actor himself, but apparently to many this was enough. Well, they're in their right.
But here's what I can't accept, so death in this movie is literally idolized. No, don't get me wrong, I have a friend who works as a pathologist himself and sometimes it is difficult to say unequivocally whether he is joking or speaking seriously, and the profession itself obliges to treat death with respect. After all, not just so the characters of the picture chose this profession? But no! The characters of the picture turn everything that is happening into a farce, their teacher looks at all this with the look of a ruminant animal, shrugs and leaves the frame. Well, the actor is not paid enough, so he does not try to jump over his head or improvise in the frame, it is not Christopher Walken. Moreover, entertainment with the dead very quickly turns into fiery sex between students. And given the fact that the characters of young people are not spelled out in any way, one wonders whether they are excited by the nearness of death and to feel truly alive they give themselves to carnal pleasures, or whether they are excited by the dead themselves, but then it is ... aha, pathology. How did I not know?
Summing up, I want to say that the creators of “Patology” set themselves too high a bar, which they could not reach. There is no drama, no interesting and memorable characters, no smart action, and black humor, which would greatly help this film, there is also no. This is a film that you can watch, but you do not need to.

P.S. If you still want to see a movie about a killer maniac, moreover, about a sociopath, then pay attention to Dexter Justice.
The medical thriller “Pathology”, judging by the description, promised to be an interesting and tense film about pathologists who mock the dead. In fact, he turned out to be a mediocre and gray tin. The film has three drawbacks that make it so:
1) An interesting idea, as is often the case, was poorly implemented. The plot is sluggish and undynamic, sometimes it becomes unbearably boring, which is unforgivable for a thriller. I was disappointed with the ending, which promised to be unexpected. Such "unpredictable" endings in the cinema were swamped.
2Dialogues. Meaningless and stupid, supposedly having a philosophical subtext à la “all people are creatures.” I've heard it a hundred times, I'm not impressed.
3 Abundance of sex. I am not a prude and absolutely not against erotic scenes, but sometimes I did not leave the feeling that I watch porn, and cinema is, after all, art.
The undoubted advantages of the picture include:
Not bad acting, especially given that most actors are little known. The only familiar face is Alissa Milano, who unfortunately has very little screen time. Apparently, the producers of the film invited the star of “Charmed” to attract the audience, because without her heroine, the film would not have lost anything.
- Realistic "meat" scenes. As far as I can tell, the autopsy scenes are very high quality, so it is best not to look at the faint-hearted, pregnant and children. They have done their best.
The Verdict is a one-off medium thriller you can watch if you have nothing to do. However, if you want to see something really tense and interesting, watch Island of the Damned or Silence of the Lambs. This "masterpiece" receives:
I was attracted to the viewing: the title and comments under the video (" Chic Film, 10 of 10, Watch Everyone). But I wouldn’t have shouted so loudly about him, so everything is in order.
The beginning of the film intrigued me very much, although it is made according to one of the standard clichés “Honey, I’m leaving for 3 months, love, kiss, I’m going.” But it was beautiful, as well as the whole movie. The plot is gaining momentum gradually and makes you get involved in what is happening. The idea is good and quite new, which I was very happy about.
In all its features, the positive hero begins to slide downward because of the company he is involved in. I don’t know where his “smart” head was, as we were shown, when they abused alcohol, drugs, and in the end, murder. To me, this is too simple and easy to show, because if it were in fact, it is unlikely that he would do it. There were a lot of absurd things that I couldn’t stand. Yes, and the film is delayed in places that you involuntarily shift your attention from it. But the ending struck me pleasantly, so after watching there was a good sediment.
From a medical point of view, he even teaches a lot, showing various examples of deaths and causes of its occurrence. Even there is an opportunity to reason not only from the point of view of medicine, but also psychology. And now, thanks to the movie, I know how to kill people quickly or slowly.
The film showed me one simple truth: “You never know who’s next to you, so you should always be extremely careful everywhere and in everything and not follow bad company.” I do not want to believe that such people exist, but alas...
Whether you watch it or not is your choice.
Movie ' Pathology' not for the faint-hearted and impressionable. Bloody and cruel, but without much surprise and sarcasm, which certainly does not put the picture in the best light. A big plus of the story - it is not long and quite logical, the disadvantage is that there are no special discoveries here. A misanthropic story about psychopaths, where the characters are not revealed. We do not know anything about them, except for the main character of Dr. Gray, but it does not seem to sympathize with him.
Because of the strong fascination with blood colors and sex, the filmmakers missed the intrigue, the mystery, the emotional pain that the audience had to endure, leaving them (the audience) scared, but not touched.
It is possible that the director wanted to convey to the audience the idea that sympathy and regret are not real feelings, so he made a film about sadistic psychopaths, leaving the only pleasant character without a chance to win.
A controversial film I only watched because of Milo Ventimiglia. From the first shots, it seemed to me that Peter from 'Heroes' was in the wrong universe, but the actor was able to change his mind and by the middle of the film I perceived him differently.

Brilliant and ambitious Ted Gray gets a job in the hospital as a pathologist. He recently graduated from Harvard. He has a bright future, because through the father of his bride, he can get a job in the capital. You just need to gain experience. On the first day, he presents himself as a nerd, which immediately irritates colleagues. Over time, the main character becomes part of the team, learning how they “entertain themselves”. Killing for a riddle is the purpose of the game, and the more sophisticated it is, the better. The main character is ruined by his own egocentrism, because he must be the best. Tired in the ears, Ted tries to get out of the “game” thereby paying too much price.
Unfortunately, against the background of the idea, the plot was made banal. The first 15 minutes looked tough. And there are plenty of reasons: there are ridiculous jokes and dull dialogues and somehow everything is built without emotions. The episodes changed too quickly, making it difficult to get into the film immediately. But later the first impressions disappeared, and viewing became easier. It is simpler, spineless plot and ruined the whole idea.
At a good level, scenes of the sectional hall of the laboratory of pathological anatomy and in its basement are built. After all, this is where the mysteries of accidental or non-accidental deaths were solved.
As for the music, it is poorly represented, simply not remembered.
A general verdict, an ordinary film that can be watched in the evening from boredom and sadness.

“There is no guilt. It's fear of getting caught. ?
In the genre of medical thriller, very few worthy films are shot. Therefore, ambiguous for many viewers "Patology" and become an object for discussion among fans of the genre. Scholermann already from the first frames of the film, demonstrating the originality of a sense of humor and the extreme degree of cynicism of the team of pathologists, manages to make it clear to the viewer whether to continue watching it for the viewer or not. Although I think film should be recommended to people with a stronger psyche and sense of humor, because the film is far from reality. Ordinary people have always been interested in what is happening behind the closed doors of medical institutions: this is confirmed by the abundance of TV series and films describing everyday life and the personal (in short breaks, but mainly at work) life of doctors.
One of the most interesting topics in the thriller genre can be called the so-called “body investigation”, what the team in which the hero of Ventimiglia gets involved actually does, performing an autopsy and establishing the cause of death.
We in honey have always been taught that forensic medicine is one of the most intellectual professions. Indeed, the people I have met are distinguished by undisguised cynicism, which does not prevent them from being respected specialists, their love for their profession, as well as for demonstrating their own superiority. I believe that the characters of the film adequately coped with the personification of the above qualities, but their sense of permissiveness and painful genius bordering on madness, convincingly portrayed in scenes with evening gatherings with “working out homework” and encouraging smoking “pipes of the world”, with group ecstasy on the autopsy table, creates a mood from watching a fantasy film. Having visited the bureau of pathoanatomical and forensic medical examination more than once, I can say that such passions of Russian reality have not been dreamed of, although pieces of flesh periodically fly along the prosectoral.
Yes, the system of medical education in the states of autumn is tough, in fact, it is survival with an endless s**t of brains, a race for ratings and renunciation of everything that is not related to professions, where a place in residency is so difficult to get that you can rightfully consider yourself “second after God”, “the arbiter of fate”, “know-it-all in a chir. suit able to dispose of the body” and may serve as some justification for their mental status. What is the full pathos part of the lecture of the professor, which is attended by the hero at the beginning of the film, Ventimiglia’s smile full of pride and acquaintance with Dr. Jake Galio (whose role Michael Weston perfectly coped with): ah... kind heart?) I today unearthed such a thing. Harvard Medical Graduate, A.D., Ventemiglia-Ted Gray's hero lives up to his name, he's soft, malleable, plush like a Teddy Bear, maybe that's why he crosses the line so easily? He had everything: the bride (whose role was well managed by Alyssa Milano and it is not only in the fascinating silicone, to which the main character tries to attach, but also in a state of permanence, constant, in which the g is with her), a wonderful future, but the forbidden fruit is always sweet, so Ted is friends not with Stravinsky’s colleague, but with the guys from the “circle of interests” who tear him off the edges of the dark sides of the universe and more interesting clinical cases for an evening analysis. To leave the community, losing everything he had, becomes almost impossible, which in fact leads to a bloody ending.
The film will find its target audience, for many it has already become a revelation, raising many topics for discussion. I will not recommend it to the faint-hearted, unconscious at the sight of blood and white coats, pregnant women and children, and everyone else - freely. Art should carry elements of culture shock, the director coped with it with dignity, without turning the film into a mess, for which I thank him and thank him.

The film left mixed opinions. You don’t see it every day, so you’re afraid. I was amazed at how frank the scenes with the actions of corpses, to which doctors are betrayed. This, on the one hand, speaks of their professionalism - composure, interest and dedication to their favorite work. On the other hand, they “love” her too much, crossing the limits of what is allowed.
The plot, like the film itself, with the exception of shocking (for untrained persons) footage is very reminiscent of Komatosnikov. There, in the early 90s, the plot developed differently. And the main characters aimed to learn something else, connected not only with medicine - what happens "beyond" death. It adds a touch of drama.
In Pathology, fun games begin. Our amateur doctors arrange a race among themselves, measuring their strength in professionalism. What is the right of the film to stand in contrast to "Komatozniki" on the stage of another genre.
It's kind of boring. Dialogues are weak, sometimes unnecessary. Characters behave in a strange way, creating the impression that their “normality” is absent. And this suggests some unhealthy tendencies in the psyche.
Milo Ventimiglia looks convincing and, entering the game with colleagues, emphasizes the seriousness of his character. The other heroes leave no special memories. I would like to see Alissa Milano after a long break - but it was not enough.

I thought for a long time about whether to see this movie or not, because I love horror films and this kind of movies I used to watch, eventually decided to watch. You know, honestly, I haven't seen such nonsense in a long time. Nonsense – not in the sense that nothing is clear (although there were such moments), but just some kind of nonsense! How can you think of making such a movie? Okay, morgue, autopsies, but these violent moments, when this gang brutally abuses people, just out of prank. From the beginning, I did not like this Dr. Gray, his obsession with violence, but in the end he takes revenge on his “friend” because of his fiancée, although he slept with another, in the end he turns out to be, in some sense, kind of good-natured, although throughout the film he was very cruel and behaved like a last freak, in the description it says that he then gets bored, I don’t think so. His friend, a crazy man, got everyone involved in this kind of sect of brutal killers (I personally can’t call it anything else) just to show his “originality.”
The film contains too much violence, regardless of the fact that they killed only homeless people and drug addicts, it still did not make their fascination acceptable, because the people were not dead, the interns killed to explore their insides. Unpleasant moments are just the sea, starting from just unpleasant moments, ending with those where you want to puke. I’m not really a faint-hearted person, but things like this need to be introduced into a film in a more competent way, not the way it is in the film, just a bunch thrown in one dumpster than this film is. At some points I was even bored, the monotony of moronic actions was simply depressing.
I didn’t like the movie, it was better than the movie. I wouldn’t advise anyone, I would be ashamed to advise you. The movie is for amateurs, but not for me.
Therefore
I swear by Apollo, Asclepius, Hygiea, and Panakea, and by all the gods and goddesses, taking them as witnesses... I will direct the regime of the sick to their advantage according to my strength and my understanding, refraining from doing any harm.
It is with this symbolic phrase that the film begins, which became a real sensation for me back in 2008. This is how the hour and a half world of death, violence, mystery and sex opens. Why am I writing a review just now? Because I am extremely offended that the only to date full-length work of the German director Mark Scholermann was so negatively received by the audience. Although if we talk about such a concept as "cinema is not for everyone", then "Patology" will be a vivid example of this. However, if there is a viewer who after this review wants to include a picture, one thing should be remembered: the main thing is to sit out the first 30 minutes. The reward will not be long in coming.
The very idea of the film cannot but intrigue the sophisticated viewer: talented pathologist students commit technically brilliant murders in order to throw a new mystery to their classmates. This eerie, but no less delightful scenario was presented to us by a fairly well-known pair of directors - Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the creators of the dilogy Adrenaline and the colorful Gamer. So, in this terrible game, a promising student performed by Milo Ventimiglia is drawn into, finally making it clear that there will not be a single protagonist among the characters. This is a performance in which the main roles are exclusively villains. Well, the worst thing is that along with the characters of the film, the viewer himself changes for the worse. Just recently, he was sick of scary photos of dead people and scenes with cold-blooded disembowelment of corpses, and half an hour later he admires the ingenuity of young murderers and solves mysteries with them. That's why I can't find a single person who's horrified by the last scene. Visually horrified.
Having created a dark, dark atmosphere of a morally terrible film, the director almost completely gave the reins to talented young actors who perfectly embodied each of the characters whose dialogues did not allow me to distract from watching. The main discovery among all in the year of the release of the film for me was Michael Weston, who played here a smiling psychopath living the death of other people. After "Pathology", wherever this actor plays, whether it is the second "Adrenaline" or "Doctor House", I invariably see on the screen of the serial killer Jake Gallo. It is he who owns a good half of the memorable quotes about life and death, which are more terrifying precisely with a monotonous voice.
I don’t want to paint a lot of details that reveal the plot, because at the moment my main task is to intrigue the future viewer, and not to disassemble the project in pieces. Although interest in the picture I arose immediately, after the creative slogan with a double meaning: "Every body has a secret". As for my personal opinion, this is one of the most underrated thrillers. The first place is still firmly attached to "Revolver". Guy Ritchie. If the first thirty minutes there is only a stable desire to turn away from the screen, then the remaining time will go to the prayers, so as not to distract from the viewing. And in the end, this picture becomes one of the favorites, which is not ashamed to advise familiar connoisseurs of cinema. The idea of the film, its open insanity and inflating atmosphere bribe. "Pathology" is not a creepy movie, but a dark detective. And with a very decent ending.
Good script, amazing selection of actors and an unexpected finale!
From the start, I assumed that Ted Gray would be under the spotlight himself. The end of the film was really impressive, and the thriller itself left an indelible imprint.
Yes, the autopsy scenes were not easy, but this is not a children's fairy tale about Dr. Aibolit, this is a movie about pathologists who are inadequate, even mentally unhealthy, and even aggravate it with drugs. It's amazing how Ted, taking a long time, gave up this addiction. Well, that's not the point.
I was also amazed at how the villain survived. At this point, in my opinion, there is some lack of writers. Dr. Gallo should have revealed the secret to his salvation, otherwise he's not sticking around.
In general, the film is worth watching. Many unexpected moments, slightly predictable behavior of the characters, but the trail after watching is impressive.
"Maybe." Formation of blood intoxication syndrome.
Feeling like a god, an exquisite entertainment for pathologically minded personalities gathered together under the roof of the morgue, this is generally not so rare. The proximity of death is an important factor in the perception of a sense of absence of fear and further along the increasing curve of blasphemy and the possibility of self-determination by destroying oneself and others. Troops, cold and decaying, cease to be a symbol of corruption, living - become temptation, for it is not people, but future corpses and if death is still inevitable, what difference does it make?
Scenario development gives a banal, but always interesting intrigue of the game with the recreation of rivalry and the necessary entourage of it in the form of additional actors, also not impoverished by intelligence and only by heterosexuality creating the necessary tension, doomed to death by all laws, in the form of a double life and the question of predisposition and boiling degree, in the form of the possibility of reaching the extreme point and the probability of achieving it. The abundance of violence and "pathology" embarrasses 90 out of 100 percent of the audience, creating a disbelief that such a thing can not only be the case, but also be recreated by deep psychopaths. The number of “nasty” scenes leads to a feeling of fear for the future of our children, but I want to say – what do you really want? They have one future - an iron table and a tag, but the level of falling is, sorry, an individual choice reaction.
Most importantly, they're not afraid. Because it'll be scary. The duel ends with deep losses and an anti-existential crisis. Anti---because a pathologically altered mind, placed in conditions conducive to pathology, will never be the same. The main character is a machine with a changed form of existence, and what did not kill him made him stronger. Pathological projection. And, therefore, the continuation should be...
Oh, man, that was really cool!
I don’t even remember a movie of this kind, at least not recently. Discovering the dark, animal side of human nature is very cool. Not psychologically of course, but very, very stylish. From the very beginning, everything turns so fast, and the best thing is that you completely immerse yourself in this . It’s like swallowing something forbidden and psychotropic and starting to fly away. The film, like a drug, envelops you completely, makes a part of it.
I like that kind of savagery. The creators simply hurriedly conveyed the feeling of the animal nature lurking in each of us. Sex and violence are a thunderous mixture. I was amazed at how effectively they did it. Just brilliant!
The actors, by the way, are also very correctly selected, there is no feeling that someone is superfluous here, everyone coped with their task as it should.
But, as often happens, not everything worked out. It is a shame that at some point the film loses a fair amount of individuality and unpredictability (I am not saying that the film is unpredictable, but it is made in such a way that you do not sit and do not guess what will happen next - you just watch and immerse yourself) and the storyline takes on a shade of second-rate and one-sidedness. As it turned out, we could have done much better.
Apparently, not every director can keep the heat throughout the picture.
But nevertheless, the film is worth watching , if only because of his unrealistically cool of the first part. The end, although it turned out to be very sharp, but it still turned out to be more less spectacular, albeit assumed. I will not say that the second half of the film greatly spoiled the impression, but it brought its share of frustration. If they had reached the end of everything at the same level, the score would have been two points higher.

And even House would be horrified. Doctors are the same people and people as everyone else. And among them, too, there are people who, in order to dispel the boredom and routine of the profession, do what even the famous cynical diagnostician Doc House would consider pathological. The gray walls of the old hospital building, the flashing red light of the clubs, the views of urbanism of the big city and immediately - blood, open chests, open skull boxes, immovable eyes and cold hands - the atmosphere is clearly successful, although the plot is not that unpredictable. But one thing about this movie can be said for sure: it will not teach anything good. It won't open a new one either. Not to say that it was a minus, but it is worth considering. Original
