Born in 1938. He studied English literature at the University of Glasgow, taught at a high school in a mining town in Scotland. In 1966 he left Scotland for Canada for scientific research. Since 1970 he has taught at St. Jerome University in Waterloo, Ontario. He specializes in XVII century literature and modern fiction. He writes poetry and prose. His first book, Inspecting the Vaults, was published in 1987. His first novel, The Paradise Motel, was published in 1989. Three more novels have since been published. Eric McCormack’s books have been translated into many languages.
