After graduating from school, the young man entered the Leningrad Institute of Theater at the acting faculty, getting into the course of Boris Zon, who graduated in 1961, after which he began working as an actor in the Leningrad Comedy Theater. For many years he worked as a director in the editorial office of literary and dramatic programs on Central Television, then he was offered the position of director in the television association “Ekran”.
Alexander Proshkin became the creator of one of the first Soviet series in 1975, releasing a television series called Olga Sergeevna, where Tatiana Doronina played the main role. This work caused a violent controversy in the Soviet press.
In 1981, the director worked on the film Dangerous Age, where actors Juozas Budraitis and Alice Freundlich played. The work was repeatedly broadcast on television.
In 1986, a historical and biographical television series was released.
