Cinderella She was born on May 29, 1909. In the family of poor circus artists, the girl had to perform from an early age. Together with their sisters, they played on stage, saving the family from starvation.
When Janine Geymo was 15 years old, she entered the Leningrad combine "Factory of the Eccentric Film Actor" (FEX). Perseverance and acting experience for a period of 12 years did their job, and Yanina successfully graduated, becoming an actress. And in 1925, she was invited to the filming of the film “Bear against Yudenich”. Noticing an interesting, bright actress, the directors of the comedy “Brother” invited Jameau to the main role. The first steps of the actress seemed difficult, but she continued to act after graduation. Then, in 1934, she appeared on the screen in the image of a schoolgirl in the film “Wake Lenochka”. A little later she starred in the films “Hot Days” (1935), “Lenochka and Grapes” (1936) and “Doctor Kalyuzhny” (1939).
Directors and film critics noted her extraordinary gift to create dramatic effect due to her innocent childish appearance. She was perceived by many as a blond angel with a small stature and a powerful creative potential in the genre of travesty. In 1939, for merits in cinema, Yanina Geymo was awarded the “Badge of Honor”.
During the war, the actress got into the ranks of the blockade in Leningrad, but continued to perform in one of the concert brigades “Lenfilm”. And after the terrible war years and a serious illness, Yanina Geymo appeared before the audience in the form of the legendary Cinderella. The film-fairy tale, based on the literary work of the same name, brought great popularity to both Jameau and Konsovsky, who played the role of the prince.
After the filming of Cinderella, Yanina Geymo disappeared from television screens. She was engaged in duplication of foreign and domestic cartoons. Her timid, calm and, at the same time, proud voice sounded in the cartoon “The Snow Queen” and in the film “Marty”. She last appeared in the 1954 film Two Friends. After that, she left with her husband to Warsaw, where she lived for several years.
Janina Geymo died on December 29, 1987 in Moscow. /
