Richard's first major success in film was the filming of the romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral, which was released in 1994. Richard invited such famous actors as Hugh Grant and Andy McDowell to the shooting. Talented and professional acting, easy and kind plot of the film, brought Curtis incredible success and popularity: he was nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best story".
Richard's next work was the film Notting Hill, which appeared at the box office in 1999. The film tells the story of a store owner who fell madly in love with a famous and beautiful film actress. The film starred: Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant.
