Despite being born in Washington state, Pamela Reed grew up in Maryland, but returned to the Northwest to work on the Trans-Alaska pipeline and earn a degree in dramatic arts from the University of Washington. Pamela began acting relatively late for the average actress. She was in her thirties when she began to bypass agents in New York and Los Angeles in search of roles. In 1980, she received her first film role, Bell Starr, in the western The Long Riders (known as Long Saddle). And immediately proved to the world that the word "average" didn't fit her very well.
