Jason was incredibly passionate about playing rugby and didn’t want to be an actor. However, due to a serious injury, he was forced to leave the world of sports. Soon he was offered a role in a school production. From that moment he decided to connect his life with the theater – he became a student at Trinity College in Dublin, having received a diploma in the profession of drama.
On the London stage, Jason O’Mara was a participant in the play Popcorn of the Apollo Theatre, as well as the play The Maltese Jew of the Almeida Theatre and the School of Backbiting of the Royal Shakespeare Organization. Later, Jason actively participated in the creation of the famous production of Harold Pinter’s Homecoming in New York, London and Dublin.
In 2001, Jason O’Mara made his television debut. He played roles in the television series “Agency”, “Brothers in arms”,
Life on Mars and Grey's Anatomy. In 2002, Jason was nominated for the Irish Theatre Award in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his participation in the play Bash, composed and directed by Neil Labute.
In 2007, Jason took part in the filming of a full-fledged feature film for the first time, when he played with the film.
In 2010, Jason O’Mara once again appeared on the London stage, where he played the main role in the popular play “Louis Singing Serenade” at the famous “Donmar Warhouse” in Covent Garden.
Jason is married, his wife is American film actress Paige Turco, the couple have a child. In early 2009, Jason became a citizen of the United States of America.
