Harry Hay was one of the founding fathers of the gay rights movement, and for more than 50 years was synonymous with the term "gay pride." Director Eric Slade's documentary about Hay looks at both his life and the movement he did so much to define. In 1948, Hay founded the Mattachine Society in Los Angeles; the goal of the organization was to establish a "Golden Brotherhood," one that sought to redefine homosexuality as a normal, healthy way of life. The problem, Hay famously maintained, was not homosexuality itself, but the way it was treated by society. Dramatizations, photographs, archival footage, and interviews with original Mattachine Society members are all incorporated to tell Hay's remarkable story, one whose legacy continues to be felt in the treatment of gays and lesbians in culture today. close

This film is a tribute to the king of exalted chic and stunning brilliance, the great designer Gianni Versace, who in less than 20 years completely revolutionized the fashion industry.
Clothing from Versace attracted with its beauty, cleanliness, precise cut. Courage in mixing styles, innovation in experiments with materials literally blew the catwalks, making Versace in the 80s the leader of world fashion. The fashion designer’s fantasy was not limited only to clothes: he created jewelry, perfumes, accessories, porcelain, decorative tiles and even entire interiors. He worked a lot for the theater and ballet (since 1982 he collaborated with La Scala, since 1984 he made many costumes for the troupe of M. Bejard, for example for the ballets Dionysius, Leningrad Souvenir, Evita).
Versace turned the demonstration of collections into a theatrical show. Each collection cost between $1.5 million and $2 million. He worked only with the best directors, photographers, fashion illustrators, regardless of any costs to achieve the desired effect.
Not the last role in the perception of the Gianni Versace trademark was played by the concept of a top model created by the fashion designer (for the first time in the world history of fashion!), which had a symbolic character for a woman of the 80s. He paid individual participants double and triple fees, concluding long-term contracts with their favorite models. These exceptionally elegant supermodels became the idols of millions. Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell were all created by Gianni Versace.
The film includes shots from the collections of Gianni Versace, including early ones, scenes of ballet performances, photographs from albums created together with famous photographers Richard Avedon, Irwin Penn and Bruce Weber. close
