Charlton Heston lived only 85 years (1923-2008). The craft of the actor fascinated him even before the war: Charlton played the main role in the production of “Per Gunt”. When World War II began, Heston went to the front and became a pilot in the Aleutian Islands. In peacetime, he briefly worked in New York as a model and these days met his future wife, a model.
In 1948, Heston made his Broadway debut, appearing in the production of Antony and Cleopatra. Two years later, Charlton was seen by film fans: in the film “Dark City” he played the avenger. Career continued in 1952: Heston captured in the role of American Mowgli in the film “Savage” – muscular, strong, with a laconic manner of speech, the actor liked the producers of Hollywood. From now on he got the roles of "historical playboys".
The fact that Heston got the roles of legendary heroes contributed to the fact that his colleague and rival, Lancaster, refused to play biblical characters - he was an atheist. For this reason (or luck) Charlton created a gallery of magnificent images (John the Baptist, Sid, Michelangelo). The most famous of them are Moses in the Ten Commandments (1956) and Ben Hur in the book.
film "Ben-Hur" 1959 (Heston won the Oscar for his second role).
In 1968, Heston changed his role, playing in the film Planet of the Apes, and then moved to the genre of the disaster film. The actor stops acting after the election of Ronald Reagan to US presidents: Charlton Heston completely went into politics as a conservative Republican.
In 1998, the actor and public figure managed to recover from cancer, but only four years later officially announced that he had symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. From then until the very end, Charlton Heston stopped appearing in public. /
