He became famous for the painting “Flower on a Stone”, which tells about the life of Donetsk miners. During the filming of one of the scenes, a burning barracks collapsed, as a result of which the performer of the main role Inna Burduchenko suffered. The young actress, after the success of the religious drama Ivanna, who was at the zenith of fame, soon died of burns. Because of the tragic incident, Alexander Slesarenko was sentenced to four years in prison, and the film was completed by Sergei Parajanov.
