Fathers and children There is no point in starting a review of the pilot episodes 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' with on-duty reasoning about how amazing it turned out that the new generation ' Star Wars' completely failed in the movies, but suddenly found a second life on television. I just want to believe that it was not an accident, but quite a calculation of the clever Disney producers to quickly shoot the promised trilogy with older actors and to do it preferably so mocking that no one would want the return of Harrison Ford and Mark Hammil. Because in the sleeve all this time was hidden trump card in the form of Ewan McGregor in the heyday of which to the delight of fans can be mercilessly exploited for more than a dozen years. And, here should sound fanfare, after so many failures in the cinema and laid ' Mandalorz' streaming tracks it is time to call the old (but not so) guard.
Disney was well aware that the return of Obi-Wan will not fail to shoot – the love of fans to Ewan McGregor by inertia will survive any project in which he would appear. This is not ' The Book of Boba Fett' where he also returned to his cult role of Temuer Morrison, who, however, no one asked for it (but in the new series he has a very impressive cameo). It's hard not to get down to fan squealing, but guys, cowboy, this is Obi Wang, the hero we grew up on, which means we're going to continue his canonical story. The audience at least expected it, unlike the story of Rey, and I even forgot the name of the second main character in the new trilogy. Have fan expectations been met? I can only speak for myself, because there are no people who hate ' Star Wars' stronger than the fans themselves ' Star Wars' (ask the father of the universe George Lucas, the unfortunate Hayden Christensen and all the actors who did not please ' fans' skin color, gender and just facial expression). My personal impressions of the first two episodes of the series about Obi Wang, if you discard the initial delight, for the most part quite positive. So far, of all the works in the universe of a distant galaxy that came out after 2005, for me, still the best (and then with a stretch) remains ' Rogue One' (at this point, many reading the text may immediately fall off), but, according to first impressions, ' Obi Wang Kenobi' can in the end quite confidently take this place in the heart. If he corrects several doubtful scenario decisions in the future, of course.
To begin with, you just need to calm down: for the most part, everything is very good. Ewan McGregor is beautiful; the background for the first time in years looks like a living world, not scenery; and most importantly, in my opinion ' returned ' the hero and justified it ' new adventures' quite competent and respectful for the universe. We know that the great Jedi before the events of A New Hope 39 did not contact Luke directly and the creators of the series did not wake this sacred cow (and even devoted an entire series to explain why this will not happen). But don’t forget that Anakin has another child who also needs to be protected, which in this series will be, apparently, the main quest for Obi Wang. This is both good news and not good news. Of the indisputable advantages, it should be noted that maybe for the first time in the franchise, a casting director did not go wrong with the choice of a child actor and we have just a wonderful little Princess Leia. She looks like Kerry Fisher and plays charmingly, not like the boy-Enakin from the first part. And just to learn more about Princess Leia would be very good, plus the canon does not violate, and all the differences, I believe, can be captured in the end, one Jedi ability. But on the other hand, the storyline about Obi Wang babysitting little Leia has one huge flaw. It’s just a stinky plot move that pop culture, in the agony of creative impotence, has been particularly mercilessly exploiting for the past fifteen years. Well, who even decided that it would be interesting for us for the thirty-fifth time to watch a grown man raise a child, at the same time escaping from persecution. The fact that this move is as simple as two cents and works we understand perfectly well and besides, thanks to it, you can justify the lion’s share of lazy plot moves (children are capricious, they can panic and run away). But I want to believe, judging by the rather driven pace of local events, that this storyline will not stretch over all six episodes. Otherwise we will get the same ' Mandalorian' where a harsh adult man babysitting a cute child, only instead of eating frogs under-Yoda we have a chatty girl with a tendency to kiss brothers.
That’s just want to believe in the best, but we all know Disney: these citizens drive simple working plot schemes as persistently as the residents of Tatooine on the Faziers. It's hard to imagine that local writers would suddenly invent something new if they were just retelling the previous ones in all the recent films. The maximum they dared: to dedicate the whole series to the adaptations of third-rate quests from some ' The Witcher' and already this made the audience squeal with delight (well, dear Grog). Because of this, it feels like looking at all the data from the plot of the series, as if you have already watched all the episodes. Already in my head is drawn a touching scene from the finale, in which Obi Wang, after a dangerous journey, tearfully says goodbye to little Leia and erases the memory that in the fourth film she did not remember him. And the local villains understand how they will act further, given that the most uninteresting heroine of the three bad guys here so persistently tried to put the cool (and drove the unknown actress to all the conventions along with Ewan McGrar and Hayden Christensen). The only hope remains for the upcoming encounter with Darth Vader, not least because of which the film 'Rogue One' and became one of my favorites in the franchise. Well, there is also a grain of hope for the prudence of the creators of the series - after so many, I would like to believe, lessons learned, I want them, in addition to exploiting the usual and favorite elements, not to hesitate to experiment, as George Lucas once did. After all, it was thanks to his courage and recklessness that Darth Vader and Chewbacca, Palpatine and Darth Maul appeared. Oh yeah, and Jar Jar Binks more.
