Yuri Vasilyevich Bondarev was born on March 15, 1924 in the Orenburg region, in the city of Orsk.

Most of the books written by Yuri Bondarev are the Great Patriotic War he experienced. The beginning of fire roads for Yuri Vasilyevich was the city of Smolensk. Recalling the war years, Yuri Bondarev said that still in his memory there are sulfurous burns brought by the cold of the Stalingrad steppes, and the icy cold of the guns still seems to be felt through the mittens. In 1944, Yuri Bondarev was demobilized from his wounds, and five years later he began to write stories that were published in various journals.
In 1951, after graduating from the Gorky Literary Institute, Yuri Vasilyevich joined the Writers' Union, after which, in 1953, Bondarev's first collection of short stories - "On the Big River" was published. Soon Yuri Bondarev became one of the most famous writers of fiction. He owns famous novels in which he described the military past: Two (1964), The Last Salvos (1959), The Coast (1975), Battalions Ask for Fire (1957), Keepers of Values (1978) and many others that still have their readers.
