Nikolai’s creative career began at the age of 14, then he performed on the stage of the Youth Theatre as a slave in the production of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. After graduating from school in 1937, the young man submitted documents to the Theatre Institute in Leningrad, the parents supported the aspiration of their child. He studied under Boris Zon.
When the final exams were behind, the Great Patriotic War began, during which Nikolai Trofimov served in the ranks of the Navy.
Since 1946, he began to work in the Leningrad Comedy Theater, where he received his first significant role in the play “The Journey of Perishon”. For 17 years, the actor worked in this theater, playing several dozen roles, including in the productions of “The Inspector” and “The Cherry Orchard”.
In the cinema began to appear in the 40s of the last century, starred under the direction of director Sergei Bondarchuk. At that time, the famous director was just working on the film “War and Peace” based on the work of Leo Tolstoy, Trofimov he approved for the role of Tushin without trial. The success was stunning, from Nikolai instantly became a movie star.

The great actor died in November 2005 in a hospital in St. Petersburg.
