The actress was born on March 5, 1961 in Zhytomyr region. Elena Yakovleva’s father was a military man, so the family often moved until they stopped in Kharkiv. Since high school, Lena wanted to be an actress. After receiving the certificate, she managed to work in several places to raise money for a trip to Moscow. In 1980, Elena became a student of GITIS.
Yakovleva’s film debut took place in 1983 in G. Jungvald-Hilkevich’s film Two Under One Umbrella (1983). After receiving a diploma, the young actress in 1984 was accepted into the troupe of the theater “Contemporary”, on the stage of which she performed for 27 years (except for a three-year period of work in the theater named after Yermolova).
