Polina Filonenko was born on August 10, 1986 in a sleeping area of Leningrad in the family of workers of a local factory. The external attractiveness of Polina prompted her parents at the age of nine to send her to the theater department of the Okhta Center for Humanitarian and Aesthetic Education, where Polina mastered the basics of acting.
Confirmed in the desire to become an actress by the end of school, Polina Filonenko chose the theater institute “School of Russian Drama named after I.O. Gorbachev” for training. While studying at the institute, Polina played in the performances “Cruel Games”, “The Last”, “Easy Breath”, “Galya Hanskaya”.
In the fourth year of the Institute Polina passed the auditions on “Lenfilm” and got roles in two films at once –
Crime and Punishment (2007) by F.M. Dostoevsky (directed by Dmitry Svetozarov) and “Yar” (2006) by Sergei Yesenin (directed by Marina Razbezhkina). The young actress managed to embody two complex and dramatic images on the screen - Sonecka Marmeladova and a village girl Lipa, who committed suicide. Shooting with Dmitry Svetozarov became a real test for Polina, but also taught her a lot, adding acting experience.
After this debut, Polina Filonenko confidently entered the world of big cinema. Refusing to shoot in series, in order not to become a face familiar, she chooses mainly feature films. Filming in the film by young director Valeria Guy-Germanica
"Everyone will die and I will stay." (2008) made her an idol of modern teenagers. The film was a success at international festivals in Cannes and Munich, and at the European Film Festival in Brussels Polina Filonenko was awarded the Award for Best Actress along with partners in the film Agnia Kuznetsova and Olga Shuvalova.
Also Polina starred in films on the military theme “I will return” (2008) and
Olympia Inferno (2009). In addition, the actress played major roles in the films “I’ll Show You Moscow” (2009), “Woman-Winter” (2009), “Love Therapy” (2010), “Love Without Rules” (2010).
