Ekaterina Maksimova was born on February 1, 1939 in Moscow. Her father, Sergey Alexandrovich Maksimov, was an engineer, her mother, Tatiana Gustavovna, worked as a journalist, then as an editor of the publishing house. As a child, she dreamed of being a tram conductor or firefighter. At the same time, Katya loved ballet, so she did not rule out that she might become a ballerina. Ekaterina Maksimova was born on February 1, 1939 in Moscow. Her father, Sergey Alexandrovich Maksimov, was an engineer, her mother, Tatiana Gustavovna, worked as a journalist, then as an editor of the publishing house. As a child, she dreamed of being a tram conductor or firefighter. At the same time, Katya loved ballet, so she did not rule out that she might become a ballerina.
In 1949, her mother took her to the choreographic school, and the girl was immediately accepted into the class of L. I. Rafailova. In the second grade, Katya on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre played the role of Squirrel in the opera for children “Morozko”, and in the seventh, the young ballerina performed the number “Nightingale” to the music of Alyabyev and danced Masha in the ballet “Nutcracker” by P. I. Tchaikovsky. This role earned her the gold medal of the All-Union Ballet Competition in 1957.
In 1958, after graduating from MHU, Katya was invited to the Bolshoi Theatre, where she became a soloist. The talented dancer with the theater went on tour in the United States, where she charmed the audience.
In 1960, Maksimova became a student of Galina Ulanova. Her repertoire was characterized as extensive and diverse, annually replenished with new roles in modern and classical performances.
Lyrical ballerina Maksimova in 1965 danced the bravura part of Kitri in Don Quixote by Minkus. It was a real event.
After graduating from GITIS in 1980, Ekaterina Maksimova acquired the specialty of a ballet master teacher and moved to teaching at the Lunacharsky State Institute of Theater Art at the Department of Choreography. She soon became a professor.
Since 1990, Maksimova was a teacher-teacher of the Kremlin Ballet, and in 1998 she began working at the Bolshoi Theatre as a choreographer-teacher. She last performed on stage in 1999.
Ekaterina Maksimova – People’s Artist of the USSR and the RSFSR, winner of many prestigious competitions, was awarded many awards and honorary titles. She was married to V. Vasiliev, her partner, with whom she worked for many years.
Ekaterina Maksimova died in Moscow on April 28, 2009, she rests at the Novodevichy cemetery. /
