Hughes began his writing career in 1979 with comic scripts for comedy films and television series. In 1984, the first directorial work of John Hughes appeared on the screens - the comedy "16 Candles", where the life of American youth is talentedly shown. The script for this film was also written by John Hughes.
The most famous film in which Hughes took part and which raised the writer and director to the peak of fame, was the first part of the comedy Home Alone. For this film, John independently wrote the script and acted as a producer.
Home Alone became the best film of 1990 and brought incredible success and world fame to the main character - McCaulay Culkin. The boy entered his role so perfectly and professionally, it seemed that his adventures in this film are his real life, in which he does not play, but just lives. The picture collected about five hundred million dollars at the world box office, which set a record in the United States of America among feature comedy films. The picture turned out so successful that the audience demanded to continue the story of a little boy, a great lover of adventure. So Hughes got back to work and wrote the scripts for the three sequels of Home Alone, but none of the subsequent scripts could be better than the first film.
John Hughes also wrote scripts for the famous paintings Beethoven, 101 Dalmatians, Flabber and others. The last and very successful work of a talented writer and director was

On August 6, 2009, the legendary director and screenwriter died of a heart attack. /
