Jenny O'Hara studied at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and then went to New York to study acting with Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner. In 1960, she toured Lotte Legna with the play Brecht on Brecht. This was followed by the drama Dylan with Alec Guinness and the musical The Fig Leaves are Falling, which did not last long on stage. Jenny O'Hara was also interested in off-Broadway productions.
In 1970, Jenny took the stage in the musical One Promises, where her sister Jill was to play. By the way, Jill was a Tony Award nominee. This work was followed by the plays The Kid by Robert Coover and The Ice Seller by Eugene O'Neill.
