The famous children's film director Ilya Abramovich Frez was born on September 2, 1909 in the city of Roslavl, Smolensk province. In 1932 he graduated from the film department, and in 1935 - the directorial faculty of the Leningrad Theatre Institute named after A. Ostrovsky. In 1932, Ilya Frez began working at the Lenfilm film studio with G. Kozintsev and L. Trauberg, and in 1945 he became the director of the Soyuzdetfilm film studio.
His first directorial works were the films “The Elephant and the String” and “First-grader”, followed by “Vasek Trubachev and his comrades”. With great interest, the audience met Frez’s painting “I Loved You...”, released in 1967, and the film “Wonder of the Fifth B”, for which the director was awarded the State Prize, was one of the best in the work of the director.
Still popular comedy tape "Adventures of the yellow suitcase", marked by interesting acting work of Tatiana Peltzer and Evgeny Lebedev. Soft humor and lyricism are distinguished by the films "You did not dream..." and "Quarantine", shot by Ilya Fraz based on the works of G. Shcherbakova in the first half of the 1980s.
