Valery Vladimirovich Fokin was born in 1946. In 1971, he graduated from the B. Shchukin Theater School at the Vakhtangov Theater, he worked as a director in the Moscow Theater "Contemporary". Yermolova, where the great interest of the public and theater specialists was caused by his first production - "Talk..." A.M. Buravsky according to V.V. Ovechkin. Since 1990, he has been the head of the Ermolova Moscow International Theatre Center; artistic director and general director of the V. Meyerhold Center. Directing Fokina is of interest abroad. Performances in his production are on the stages of the USA, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, France. The performances are distinguished not only by the skill of directing, but also by the originality of the interpretation of well-known images. Fokin’s performances “Numer in the Hotel of the City of NN” by N. Gogol, “Transformation” by F. Kafka, staged in the Meyerhold Center, “Tatiana Repin” by A. Chekhov (the theater named after M. Yermolova) received recognition of the Russian and world theatrical community. They are characterized not only by bright entertainment, dynamics, paradox, but also by a consistent search for a new theatrical language.
