Douglas was born on February 13, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona. As a child, he began playing the trumpet, then switched to guitar and eventually studied jazz, world music and ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University, completing his education at the University of Miami.
Professional career of the musician began at the age of 18, performing on trips around the country with a show group. Alternating concerts with studies, he soon began to compose music for the theater and then for television. Cuomo has over 120 episodes of Killing Squad, as well as numerous series, movies and documentaries for NBC, CBS, ABC, HBO and other companies and television networks.
