He was born on March 12, 1966 in South Carolina. His parents were teachers of vocals, and began as opera singers, so they had no trouble to see the talent in his son. He studied vocals and performed first as a tenor, but, dissatisfied with his performance, retrained and began to perform in a higher tone.
Active concert activity of the performer began in 1992, in 1999 he first performed on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera, where he talentedly performed an aria of Sextus from the opera Julius Caesar by Handel. Later, the tenor sang the pariah of Caesar himself, and also appeared in many other opera productions in title parts, performing in leading theaters around the world.
In 2015, he returned to his alma mater, the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance, as a vocal professor, without leaving an active performing career.
